The scene, where Fulgrim trying to turn the knight to Slaanesh only to be plasma-shot in the face is one of the most hillarious scenes in the entire 40K.
Every single battle in the Heresy era, be it a full scale system wipe or the smallest of skirmishes, has just that tinge of unbelievable sadness to it. The majority of it is so well written.
For me it's the betrayal, the treachery! I think it speaks to something in all of us. We have an innate sense of justice, and stories like this just break your heart a bit. The only solace is that some of them die well.

I enjoyed the video. When asking these questions about why the Emperor would seemingly pointlessly self-destructive actions, I think it's important to remember the source material, Dune. That God Emperor's plan was not to rule a perfect domain but to use repression of desire to fracture humanity and spread it so thoroughly through the stars that no one group of people could cause the eventual extinction of mankind. Perhaps even looking at the Council of Nikea, the purpose was to really get people into a healthy respect and fear of the warp to accelerate the psionic maturity of the race. What?? Sadness? There’s no sadness here. This is a triumph.
Man I’d just been rewatching the Titanic Heresy videos, then this comes out. A blessing from the Omnissiah!
In my head, you can either sum the Emperor's plans as:
"My goals are beyond your understanding"
"It's magic. I ain't gonna explain shit"
"Just trust me, I am your parent.".
"I could tell you all, but alas comprehending the incomprehensible is reserved for galaxy brains like me. You are all but dough-brain to whom i shall explain nothing."
