I love that the Adamus are vaguely implied to be Ninjas but don't have a completely obvious name like "Ninjitsus" or "Shinobiarii" lol

Then you have the Venenum who are just a venom pun.

Vindicare; To Claim (taking a mark from long range)
Callidus; Clever (infiltration via disguise)
Eversor; Destroyer (obviously lol)
Culexus; Crawling Horror (psychic nulls)
Vanus; Vanity (using a target's vanity against them)
Venennum; Poisonous (likely the original Latin root of the word "venom" in the first place)
Adamus; Adam (the pursuit of perfection to know all and see all, alluding to the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in Genesis)

funnily enouth, the ethymology of the word "assassin" originaly meant something like "those that consumes hashish", as the first to have been called that did consume it in their line of work.

As someone who played during 3rd and 4th edition, it is really nice to get scattered lore neatly compiled in videos like yours. The assassins were always a very interesting subject, as well as death cults.
Death cults?? I've not heard of those! Could you explain a little more
@@ethanbradley5889 There are many sects of the Imperial Cult (the official religion that venerate the Emperor as a god), and the Imperial Cult is very militaristic and xenophobic in the extreme. It teaches to cast out, hunt down, and kill that which isn't a pure human (aliens, heretics, psykers (the average imperial citizen is not aware that demons exist)). Most citizens worship the Emperor and then carry on with their 20 hour shift at the factory. However, some religious extremist might form death cults, who hunt and kill that which they percieve goes against the Imperial Cult. They are not anywhere near the skill of the assassins of the assassin temples, and they are not goverened by official imperial channels. Basically they are rogue, independent cults that kill without official sanction. However, members of death cults have been scouted by assassin temples as potential recruits. Inquisitors do come across and investigate death cults as they are a potential heretical threat, but inquisitors have recruited members to their own personal entourage.
@@ethanbradley5889 The death cults were groups of people who expressed their "love" of the emperor through blood shed, either their own or more often, others. They were quite gruesome.

Imagine a bunch of assassins working together toward a common goal. We got Vindicare, Callidus, Adamus, Vanus, even Eversor tiptoeing around an enemy stronghold, eliminating enemy guards one by one.
Or
A single Vindicare stealth and sniping game, like Sniper Elite in the 40k universe. Put him in a battlefield and there you have it.
This came out 2 days for the chaosgate expansion of these very assassins. You're the best , Luetin. We love you

Just when I'm contemplating on what to watch when my nightshift start, Here come Luetin like an assassin in the night with a swift lore video.
I liked the bit of giving historical context about the use of poison. If you ever decided to make some videos on historical topics I'd definitely watch them.
The more I learn about the Imperium's long line of assassin clubs, the more I wonder why we haven't got a single assassin-themed game for this universe yet...
The Chaos gate game added assassins as units, so there's at least that :)

The Vanus have the potential to be the most effective temple. Killing a target by, for instance, hacking into a traffic control network to create a car accident.
Can I say how much I apppreciate all the content you produce, and also how you occassionally happily acknowlege and greet 'those of you, frankly, just planning to go-to-sleep'.
While it is true that this is some of the best content to try to sleep to, I always come back and rewatch the parts I miss if I pass out.

I imagine that the pre-Fall Eldar used to tease DAoT human diplomats about how those primitive Mon’keighs have to use genetic manipulation, cybernetic augmentation, nanotechnology, and pharmaceuticals just to live for like 5,000 years when the noble and superior Eldar live forever without need for such cheap tricks.

Gotta respect Luetin's dedication to his craft, even when faced with a daunting task such as making the Venenum sound interesting...
Couple things about legienstrasse, the mechanicus didn't just decide to make her 1 day. The assassin temple encouraged them and bribed them with an STC. Captain Lysandor impaled her to the evisor assassin, cut her head off, and turned her to dust with his thunder hammer.
The Loremaster feeds the almighty chaos god ALGO with this contribution.
Anyone ever think about how, in the 40k universe, someone with as much knowledge as luetin would know more than the emperor himself

The Assassins for the Imperium are really cool, they have one for almost every situation. I'd be interested if they brought back the Maerorus since the possibility of there being eggs sounds terrifying but cool.
If it didn't go crazy I wonder if it would've been useful against Tyranids
The description of maerorus remind me of the Prototype mc, Alex Mercer, with 40k flavour. Quite a letal asset

While I'd heard of every other temple I'd never heard of the adamus temple before this video also I'm curious as to where the mechanicus found a sample of either redlight or blacklight.

The Adamus remind me of samurai who have chosen to reject bushido, to operate in secret to assassinate magistrates, generals, and daimyo. As for the Vanus, there are some aspects of shinobi there but they more resemble the love child of Sam Fischer, from Splinter Cell, and Alt Cunningham, from the Cyberpunk TTRPG.
The geek in me loves that GW added these to the setting, but I wish they better represented these temples, even the Venenum, in the Black Library novels.

It would be interesting if an enemy of humanity (e.g. eldar) made a bunch of assassins to try and kill all the leaders/heroes of humanity.

Lovely way to finish off a Sunday evening with a new lore video from the boss. I’d be very interested to see what you could do with the Alpha Legion, memes aside, purely for the conjecture/fluff/established canon around warbands in 40k.
I had to come in to work on my day off today but since the loremaster himself dropped a video my day just got better.
As someone who hasn't (yet) taken that step to collect or play the tabletop it's really nice to see the figures/models more often when you need references or pictures along side the lore/stories.

Eldar describe the culexus assassin as the literal embodiment of the concept of evil.
I am reading through the Horus Hearsay at the moment to get my bearings as a newbie in the 40k universe. And I will say it has been excellent. It's been a long few years since I have been enthralled by a narrative that is 40k/30k. I am trying my hardest not to spoil the story before I finish the 52, current, book library of the 30k Horus universe. One thing I would love is some more 30k history, albeit spoiler free, vids from you. Appreciate the channel very much, and have not watched this video yet, but understand the limitations of UA-cam comments. Look forward to your future!

I wonder how the Vanus clade would be implemented on the tabletop. Perhaps a faction that actually understands how "machine spirits" operate. Light infantry that can shut down or override powered enemies. Immobilising space marines in their power armour. Or causing artillery to hit friendly units. Being able to contest orders. But really weak against melee and faith powered units like the Sisters or Black Templars.
Anyway, mainly just a comment to ward off the chaos god Algorithm.
I dont play/collect Warhammer, but I really enjoy its lore. Very grateful for Leutin's vids!
