Very nice review. Great commentary, easy and informative. Your enthusiasm is also contagious!! You're after getting me back into Peugeot!! Lovely review, thanks. Sunscribed! 👍👍☘☘
I had my first v6 in 2000 , I sold it and went through the competition before going back to a 406 v6 se. Forced to sell in 2010 due to moving overseas but after searching for 12 years I found a one owner mint condition 99 v6. Sold.my 2017 amg and haven't regretted it once
In 2004 bought a 4yr old 210. Arianne Blue with Chestnut leather 50K on the clock for £7K. Bargain, best car I have ever had and still miss it today, my daily runner for ten years.
Great video John. French cars of the 90's (and a handful from the very early.2000) were better equipped, more stylish and generally more luxurious than a lot of prestige brands.
@@Stratoszero I actually had a drive in a DB9 and was left a little disappointed to be honest. I think I had built up high expectations and the particular car I drove had the heater stuck on hot and the dashboard looked warn in places so perhaps not the best example. I also drive a Lamborghini and Porsche 911 Turbo on the same day and both felt a more involving, dynamic drive but I suppose the Aston may have come into its own on an extended tour.
@@markonmotoring No it was really tiring on a long trip, the steering wheel shook in your hand and it rode like a supertanker engine strapped to a bedframe. After the DB7 they went all Nurburgring and hardcore. No wonder Bentley sell 10 Coupes for every DB11.
@@clarkchambers9992 oh for sure, it's an original Irish from new annual V6 Coupe that is kept with the one in the video. Reaction elsewhere to my video suggests the manual is more than just a comfortable Cruiser...

Hi John. Thanks for that. REALLY enjoyed your review of the 406 coupe. I bought one back in 2001. I've had some lovely cars but thats still my best ever, by a long shot. Did a few journeys of 600+ miles and never got home tired. Thanks for rekindling the memories.
Great video and lovely to see a dealership taking care of the older vehicles as well as the new. I have 7 of these v6 coupes which I have restored, one I have owned from new. I have a selection of colours including the very rare pulsar yellow. They are great cars and rapidly becoming very desirable and hard to find. Great to see you showcasing the car, I also enjoyed your 508 PSE video too and look forward to more from your channel.
@@patrickcrean7813 it was a custome stainless one. Taken it off now and fitted a new original Peugeot exhaust. I will be uploading a video soon of my blue coupe exhaust which is standard,
I bought a 406 coupe in 2020 Dublin 00 d reg.. 2.0.same colour & wheels / black leather seats. Was in average condition it needed some work done to it. I got it nct'd. Drove it for a few months & sold it on. Their extremely comfortable.
Yeah between the earlier 'D8' and later 'D9', Peugeot gave the engine to Porsche to play with. The result? 194bhp > 210bhp. There's pros and cons to each of these but when the bodywork looks like it does, engine choice doesn't really matter :D Looking under the bonnet of that one, it may actually be a D8.5....
Thanks John. Peugeot’s golden period from 205 to this. I had two 405 and then followed with two 406, all company cars. Loved them both, totally blew the socks of dull competition. They lost their mojo with the 407 onwards. I do want one of these beauties, any engine and I’d be happy. Any chance to test a 405 please, I have such a soft spot for them!
Still got my diablo red 406 coupe V6 manual and it's still an absolute joy to drive... It now has 110k and it drives the same way it did when i first bought it in Feb 2007... ❤️😎
Its an awesome car. I had one and I absolutely loved it. Unfortunately it destroyed in a car accident. Since that I have been looking for a new one but I haven't found many copes for sale.
Brilliant review and you know your stuff - we're about the same age. Can you remember what the price was? I grew up in a 504 and it would be nice to have a Peugeot again but don't want to annoy Slattery's without a guide price..!
Hi Luke. This isn't for sale but it's part of their collection. I'm organising a French car gathering in Nenagh on August Bank Holiday Monday and the Slattery collection will be there if you want to see it.
@@JohnsGarageIreland Ahh, I see. I thought you meant they were working on and supplying classic Peugeots. I'll keep the French gathering in mind - my first car back around c. 2000 was a Citroen Xantia..! Sadly long gone now..
I adore this gorgeous 406 Coupé with a solid V6 under the cowling.

I honestly think they were from making great cars right up to the 406 and 306.....then decided merde was preferable
I had a DB9 while I also owned a 406 Coupe, and the Pug was way nicer to drive.

The early 194hp engines are the nicest, both sound and driving dynamics.. also with a 5speed manual, they are the fastest.

That was Ronan Keatings car originally!
