It is not really "broken" it is just "awaiting recommission" - a gem of a car, and a credit to the previous owner, who was an absolute Gentlemen throughout. I look forward to seeing more of this - "Back to you Gavin" 😁
You're right, which is why I decided to change the title, but I didn't get there quick enough! I really appreciate everything you did in February and hope that I can give the car the treatment it deserves. At least I've got a decent tool for removing the oil filter...
@@Petrolblog MMR is just fab! I get to drive a lot of brand new cars for my job now and it is just brilliant getting into her at the end of the day for some properly comfy seats and simple motoring. Beautiful car, great color, good engine sound...and of course-manual👍🙂...ps; I own a 406c, 3.0 v6, manual, es9j4, silver color...421.000km and still shifts beautifuly...good luck sir, hope you enjoy yours asap,😎
Great to see another coupe addition to the channel, I saw that on the 406 Facebook page too. Least it might save the other car or you could fix it up? I think it fix, paint apart what else does it need? great to see Ariane blue I am a bit biased as I have 3 that colour! I remember you saying about the man with 7 coupes feature maybe we can do a 9 car shoot?!
Hi. Apparently the rotary switch (which included the inhibitor / reverse light switches) is a common problem on these gearboxes. It can be changed with the gearbox in situ and does not require opening up the oily bits. If you can get hold of the switch it could be worth a try - the intermittent nature makes me think it could be that. Good luck with it. I've just acquired a 1999 3.0se example - and the auto box is decidedly quirky! Cheers.
This is gold, one of the earliest cars to have the 210bhp engine, with the black perfurated seats launched in 1997 and discontinued in 2000 or 2001, most of the UK cars have the alarm button and the sensors, never seen in non UK cars, only on the Facelift they start putt the alarm feature. Big Smiles when i see one of these. Enjoy. Have fun
Thank you for this. I assumed it must be some sort of 'crossover' model when I discovered the later engine and earlier interior. Confirms what I believed: it's too good to scrap!
@@Petrolblog It was an absolute pain to begin with as the brake master cylinder was duff, after around 8 months or so, I managed to get one off a great bloke in Lithuania, he's got access to lots of bits so if you need anything let me know and i'll pass on your details. It's been doing well since, so fingers crossed it's a long-term keeper. I did also save another one last month that'll be going back on the road as well, all being good.

Mmm, black leather + global warming, lovely. Weird car the 406 Coupe, unarguably one of the most beautiful designs of the last thirty years yet strangely unloved.

Congratulations on the new project. Look forward to the updates.

Cheers, Charlie. I won't be changing my approach - it is what it is.
Glad this has finally been declared to the world 😊 look forward to more updates. Always a pleasure to see your videos.

@Andrew.bergin Brilliant. It’s a very special car.
Fantastic stuff, looking forward to seeing more

Well done, far too good to scrap. Look forward to seeing it soon in ClassicRetroModern…

Thank you. Impressive mileage, sir. I can't wait to experience the manual gearbox - many people have told me it's so much better than the auto.
LOVE IT! Also, best colour for that car. (I am saying this because I have the exact same)
Yeah, one of my favourite colours. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like beneath the grime.

It's a brilliant colour. And I like your idea about a nine-car shoot!
Brilliant looking car

So can we look forward to a third 406 Coupe to break to help restore the other two?😂
This happened to me now I have 7!

Did Amy mention another Coupe she did last year? She brought mine down from up country too!
No! How are you getting on with it?

Good point - thanks for the reminder. See description for details. Amy is ace.

Hello to a fellow Safrane fan!
I missed your waffle. Good to see you're still buying French tat.
Thanks. I've missed doing this stuff.
Weren’t “I promised myself” the immortal words of Nick Kamen?
The beginning of that always reminds me of “A Little Respect” by Erasure.
To buy one 406 Coupe might be considered unfortunate, to buy a second one is just carelessness. 😉
Well I bought 7! What is that?
Haha. Guilty as charged!

You're on! How much work have you got to do on it? Nice to see a diesel being saved.

Yeah, that's a good point. The wrong badge, I guess.
It's a British thing - they are thankfully much more appreciated in mainland Europe.
Cuz two Pininfarinas are better than one broken and one scrapped
Agreed.
