    With the Vortex. Is there a smell when cooking? I am leaning towards this air fryer but the negative comments about smell has me worried.

      I only smell the yummy food cooking. The components have a “new” smell during the initial test. I washed everything before I cooked with them and have never noticed an off smell.

      Yes there is a burning plastic smell. After 4 times of heating and cooling with empty basket. The smell diminished greatly. I myself will be returning mine. Getting a air fryer metal oven instead.

      I just got mine and the directions say to run it empty 2 or 3 times because its burning off that new plastic smell.

    New sub here. Now that I've watched your 4 videos on the Vortex I'm really leaning towards this air fryer oven because I really wanted something with a rotisserie. Also something large enough to throw a pizza in or a t-bone steak. I have the original Power AirFryer XL with digital time and temp. but buttons around the face. The newer ones I've seen/read don't seem to last very long and I've had mine since Christmas 2017. I recently purchased as a birthday preset to myself back in April an Instant Pot which I love. And last week purchased the new Ninja Smart Blender w/FreshVac system, which I also love. I think I'll hold out a little to see more comparisons to the new small appliances Ninja's coming out with. MAYBE...LOL! Thanks for the great, informative video.

      Honestly they both cleaned up very easy, I poured the excess grease onto a paper towel in my garbage can and wiped the rest off with a wet paper towel and finished with soapy water...very simple....but I will say the writing embossed on the bottom of the vortex tray took a slight bit extra but nothing bad. How do you cook.....without flipping the burgers....the heat is from the top sp how are you getting the bottom of burger cooked? Also Vortex claims you can make toast & cook a pizza. Once again how do you get even toast with out a bottom heating element. And how do you cook a frozen pizza without bottom heating ....wouldn't the top just burn & bottom be soggy

    • @JohnSanders
      @JohnSanders  5 років тому

      That is a good point but It does a pretty good job of circulating the air and the toast I did got brown on both sides, I didn't flip the burgers but they were brown on both sides although the top was a little browner..I have not tried pizza yet but I think it would work...Thank you for watching!!

    What ? You never knew you are supposed to cook ground meat to well down 160? And then you only tried 8 min to begin with? Simple rule of thumb for well done meat is 8 min a side or what we call a 16 min burger or steak !

    I made 2 chub burgers as shown in your vid. 375° for 13 minutes. It was a fail. They were fridge cold when I cut them into 3/4" slices...perhaps they should have sat out 15 minutes. As I watched, they formed a peak in the centre as they browned and began to get tough around the edges. I used a thermapen for temperature. They were done at 13 minutes, but very tough. Defeating.
