I have had the product for a few months now, and it is super simple to use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB I have perfected steak and chicken which is mainly what I have cooked in it. I do not use any oil at all, and the food comes out tasty every time. No issues, easy to use, easy to clean. I bought an accessory kit with extra things for it, and having a small metal rack in it definitely shows a little wear in the coating from sliding around a little. The coating could have been a little thicker. I have been pretty cautious with it, but its inevitable I suppose when you put something metal (cosori product) in it. Highly recommended product!

❤ I know it's been said already, but Fantastic Video and from all you said in it as far as I know was correct and accurate ( unusal these days ), so again, thank you!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I love making Canadian Bacon and Sausage in my oven. You can also add an egg in a ramekin and cook it at the same time. Stay safe and have a blessed New Year!
Ooo I love catfish. I would say on air fry 390 and depending on the thickness you will ahve to judge the time. Probably 20 mins to start and flip at 10. Check the temperature. Oh and I would spray with some oil to help crisp it.
Haha you are so welcome! I wish they would pay me. Sadly my original Omni was acting weird and when I contacted customer service they told me the best they could so was send me a 20% coupon on a new one becasue it's out of warranty. Thankfully I fixed the issue but I was kind of disappointed. Oh well.
Haha, thanks. My family took the Pottermore quiz a long time ago and can you believe I got Slytherin??SI have learned to embrace it. The funny thing is my family got me that apron years ago as a B-day present, but it's for kids. However, I'm so short, it fits, lol.
Thank you so much! YOU are GREAT, Lana! This is the first air fryer I've had and am nervous! For some reason, I can't seem to press any of the buttons to make them work for (i.e. broil/bake/roast/etc.)? Any ideas?
I am so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I have found that sometimes the touch buttons are finicky and it also depends on the temperature of your fingers crazy enough. Like when I am really cold, I find the buttons don't react as well. But if it is a continuous issue I would reach out to the Instant company. They take a little while to respond but they usually are very very helpful and will send you a new one if they can't help you fix it.
In the very beginning it does. It is fromt he residue fromt he factory. That is why they suggest before cooking anything you run it empty on high for 15 to 20 mins first.
Lana thanks for your videos they are very helpful. My question is about the smell when using the oven...how long can I expect it to last? Anything I can do to make it go away?
So if you have the Vortex Plus it's probably due to a small piece of Styrofoam that was left behind and burned. If not, it's just the leftover chemical wash from the factory. It should burn off after 1 or 2 test runs. If not, contact the company.
Would you cook bacon, single layer, on one try and then closely put the other tray turned over on top of it? To reduce splatter? To cook without the bacon moving all over the place due to the air push?
I've never had to cover my bacon. It doesn't go anywhere. Also I line the drip tray with aluminum. The Vortex is non-stick so easy to clean up but there's not as much splatter as when frying in a pan.
Hahahaha. You are the first person to catch that! It was a big controversy in my family. We all did the Pottermore test to find our houses. My daughter got Slytherin (that was expected, lol), my son got Ravenclaw, my husband got Griffendore (I still call foul), and to the shock of everyone I got Slytherin. I was so mad, but now I just embrace it. I mean, we are the smartest and most talented. lol
With the basket that has the lid that fits inside the basket do you put the lid in on the left side or right. When I put it in to the left the lid pops open during cooking??
I've never bought an air fryer before and with a family of four, with 2 teenagers, our meals are starting to get "large" -one thing I have not yet seen on any reviewer's channel is info on "how much you can cook" -how many wings, can you fit a normal sized frozen pizza, can we make enough fries for 4 people? that kind of thing.... I guess it could all be done in batches, using the regular oven to keep things warm while subsequent wings, fries, whatever are made -but really this is my only hesitation. Short of buying a full sized convection oven with an "air fry mode" I just don't know if this would be practical or "just another junk appliance collecting dust the back corner of our storage cupboard" Thoughts? Is this good for feeding families, or more for a college student in a dorm?
Thank you for your video, is been very helpful, I have a question, have you used the dehydration function? I don't see a review about It in your channel
Hi. Thank you so much for your kind words. I haven't reviewed the dehydration function yet, but los of people have asked so it's on my list. The truth is I don't like dehydrated food much so I have been putting it off. There are quite a few people in my Facebook grito though who dehydrate off AVD they could probably help.
Well, other than the manual that comes with the oven, I'm not sure of any other ones. I do have a blog with the instructions I give here in writing. As for cookbooks, I don;t use any for this appliance so it's hard for me to recommend one. If I am not using my recipes, then I love America's Test Kitchen and they have a air fryer book I like.
@@LanaUnderPressure I found one on Amazon that looks good and is for beginners. They let you look at a few pages online so that made my choice. Forgive me but what is the URL of your blog? I did watch a few of your videos and you really helped me. I made a pork roast with the rotisserie and it came out fantastic. Next will be a chicken.
Aww you're so sweet. Actually I was looking at air fryers and want to know how well they cook meats that have been marinaded or if that's a don't? Stuff like honey fried chicken?
Thank you so much. They cook marinade meat very well. However, if you want a crispy outside, you do need to pat the marinade off. Like if you marinade wings. But for something like honey chicken, that would be great. You would want to make sure to watch it closely because the high heat will caramelize the sugar fast and over brown so I would use an empty rack on the top level to block the air flow to not over brown it.
Lana, thanks for another wonderful video. You may have mentioned in a prior video but have you ever tried anything you would recommend NOT to cook in the Vortex? Still waiting to get mine but love watching and learning about this machine.
Hi Chris! Well, I am a stubborn geek so if there is something that "can't " be done, I will probably try and figure out a way that is can, lol. But I will say, foods with very wet batters haven't worked out only because there is no way to suspend the food without placing it on a tray. So I've had to make modifications. For example I made chicken tenders and usually I like the very wet double dredging fried chicken style batter. I had to make the wet batter a little thicker and then I added crushed corn flakes to the outside. I'll be posting that recipe soon to my blog.
Hi Lana, i just watched you video with instructions, however you said it did not get hot to touch on the outside. Mine was so hot I couldn't touch it. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Sorry it took me a while to get to your comment, I went back to teaching full time. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I've been coking for a long time and I also worked on horse farms back in the day so it may just be my hands are not as sensitive to temp. Plus my family makes fun of me since i take showers hot enough to make skin melt, lol.
Sorry it took so long to reply. Usually I take less than a day. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It made my morning for sure. I'm so glad I could be of help and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Happy cooking!
Hi. You can use anything that is safe for ovens so you can absolutely use parchment. Just know that the fan is very strong so if you don't have anything weighing it down, the paper will fly around the oven. An 8x8 pan fits well without handles.
@@Sedgley9024 I would place the other pan above it so it doesn't fly 😄. I seen a lady burn dehydrated apples they were flying around inside it but she was not smart put it up top.
It does have a dehydrate function and I used it once for herbs and it worked great. however, I don;t dehydrate a lot so I don;t have a recipe. I do know you really need to cut them thin or else it can take a long long time.
Hi. Do you see the knob spinning if it doesn't have the rotisserie in it? If so, then you have to press the red button to make sure the rotisserie rod is engaged.
Can you advise how long and at what temperature you should cook chicken tenderloins and asparagus if you cook them at the same time on different shelves? Thanks!
I've actually haven't made asparagus yet. But it probably takes less time than the chicken. so you would add the asparagus after a little while. just don't place the tray on the very top level.
Hi there. I am so glad I found your channel. I was hoping you could answer something for me. I need to replace my microwave which I only really use to reheat food, or steam veg. Would the reheat function on the vortes 7 in 1 work for that function? Hello from South Africa 👋
Hi! The reheat function is great to reheat certain foods that you want to crisp up. I know a lot of people who have replaced their microwave with a air fryer oven. However, in my opinion I wouldn't. A microwave cooked food very diffently.. an air fryer oven is not idea to heat up liquids like a microwave can ( cup of coffee, soup, etc.). You also can't cook with plastic or Tupperware or frozen food dinners or sides like you can in a microwave.
In my opinion, the Instant people should pay you for making these videos. You are wonderfully clear on all of the details and options. Thank you so much!

You’re welcome 😊 Thank you so much.
Great review and tips; thank you! 🙂
So this explains why the door is loose because its detachable... I was about take it right bk thank u
i learned so many practical tips about my new over, subscribed to your channel to learn more
Great Tips. Thank You.
I’ve watched a couple of your videos and I have learned a lot already. I after making a couple of things in it today, I have to say I love my vortex.
Wonderful! I am so glad!
Thank you for sharing your tips. I wasn't sure how to use it.
You are so welcome!
I highly recommend it as well. Great tips thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing these tips really helpful indeed
❤ I know it's been said already, but Fantastic Video and from all you said in it as far as I know was correct and accurate ( unusal these days ), so again, thank you!
Thank you so very much!
Just made sweet potato fries in my brand new oven. Excellent. Can’t wait for southern fried chicken
Merry Christmas. Just made Canadian Bacon and sausage in it. Excellent
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I love making Canadian Bacon and Sausage in my oven. You can also add an egg in a ramekin and cook it at the same time. Stay safe and have a blessed New Year!
What advice would you give for cooking catfish in my Vortex Plus?
Ooo I love catfish. I would say on air fry 390 and depending on the thickness you will ahve to judge the time. Probably 20 mins to start and flip at 10. Check the temperature. Oh and I would spray with some oil to help crisp it.
I just got mine and I love it already
Yay! Happy cooking and stay safe.
Hi Lana - just found you. Love your video. I just purchased this and it absolutely ROCKS
Very informative message...
Love your videos. Going to get my Khols cash and buy one. Thanks
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much. This has been very helpful.
I am so glad!
Thank you so much for hour tips! @InstantPot need to pay you!
Haha you are so welcome! I wish they would pay me. Sadly my original Omni was acting weird and when I contacted customer service they told me the best they could so was send me a 20% coupon on a new one becasue it's out of warranty. Thankfully I fixed the issue but I was kind of disappointed. Oh well.
Lana Vortex should pay you.your great!
Thank you so much!
I just got mine last week. Did it have a plastic smell to it at while running? If so, what did you do about it?
Iam sure you know the answer already. It saying in the instruction book it will smell for a short period and go away, it’s not toxic either.
Thanks for the tips!
Lana I love that apron !!!!!
Haha, thanks. My family took the Pottermore quiz a long time ago and can you believe I got Slytherin??SI have learned to embrace it. The funny thing is my family got me that apron years ago as a B-day present, but it's for kids. However, I'm so short, it fits, lol.
Super helpful! Your videos are much appreciated!
Thank you so much!
Do you have a plastic smell with yours?
In the very beginning it does. It is fromt he residue fromt he factory. That is why they suggest before cooking anything you run it empty on high for 15 to 20 mins first.
Thats the review!!
Thanks!!
I'm so glad I found this video. Now I'll know to avoid the sharp edge at the top and not use a chicken over 4 lbs on the spit.
Thank you. Those are some great tips👍
If not, contact the company.
great info and tips - thanks !
Thank you! So informative 🙏 God bless you
Would you cook bacon, single layer, on one try and then closely put the other tray turned over on top of it? To reduce splatter? To cook without the bacon moving all over the place due to the air push?
I've never had to cover my bacon. It doesn't go anywhere. Also I line the drip tray with aluminum. The Vortex is non-stick so easy to clean up but there's not as much splatter as when frying in a pan.
Thank you for the informative video. I ended up rinsing the door under running water 😭. Hopefully the condensation will go away.
Hi. Yeah it's best to just use a wet cloth or sponge. However, the condensation will go away with time after using it bit.
Super helpful. Thank you
You are so welcome! Stay safe.
Estou adorando os seus vídeos! Ganhei Instant Air Fryer do meu namorado!
Ameiiiii
Muito obrigado!😚
I never thought I'd be taking instant pot vortex advice from a Slytherin. Thanks!
I mean, we are the smartest and most talented. lol
@@LanaUnderPressurewell this Hufflepuff appreciates your videos!
Hahah. That was the first thing I noticed. I'm a Gryffindor.
Fantastic video!
With the basket that has the lid that fits inside the basket do you put the lid in on the left side or right. When I put it in to the left the lid pops open during cooking??
Thank you
I've never bought an air fryer before and with a family of four, with 2 teenagers, our meals are starting to get "large" -one thing I have not yet seen on any reviewer's channel is info on "how much you can cook" -how many wings, can you fit a normal sized frozen pizza, can we make enough fries for 4 people? that kind of thing.... I guess it could all be done in batches, using the regular oven to keep things warm while subsequent wings, fries, whatever are made -but really this is my only hesitation. Short of buying a full sized convection oven with an "air fry mode" I just don't know if this would be practical or "just another junk appliance collecting dust the back corner of our storage cupboard"
Thoughts? Is this good for feeding families, or more for a college student in a dorm?
You're awesome! Thanks for the tips!
Awe thanks so much!
How do you use it for toasting bread or bagels?
I'm actually not a fan of how it toasts so I have a toaster oven just for toasting.
What is the name of the steamer you use & will it get off really baked on grease?
Hola gracias. ¡Por favor permite subtítulos en éste video!
No estoy segura de cómo pero lo intentaré.
What recipe and how to manual would you recommend? The videos are great but I like books
@@LanaUnderPressure That's how my grandmother made them..can't wait for that video...I'll be sending it to my cousins..in fond memory :) !!
I like your last tip ;) You are my go-to for the Vortex! Subscribed for more recipes and tips!
Sorry it took so long to reply. Usually I take less than a day. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It made my morning for sure. I'm so glad I could be of help and feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Happy cooking!
Can you use parchment paper in the air fryer vortex? What size rack/pan for cooking a roast over 4 lbs will fit?
Hi. You can use anything that is safe for ovens so you can absolutely use parchment. Just know that the fan is very strong so if you don't have anything weighing it down, the paper will fly around the oven. An 8x8 pan fits well without handles.
Careful it's held down. My son laid it over top of item too and it flew up to top and started to burn.
@@Sedgley9024 I would place the other pan above it so it doesn't fly 😄. I seen a lady burn dehydrated apples they were flying around inside it but she was not smart put it up top.
How do you dehydrate apple slices
It does have a dehydrate function and I used it once for herbs and it worked great. however, I don;t dehydrate a lot so I don;t have a recipe. I do know you really need to cut them thin or else it can take a long long time.
Any tips to get the rotisserie function to actually rotate? It’s on, but it won’t spin at all. I was only trying to make a few fries
Hi. Do you see the knob spinning if it doesn't have the rotisserie in it? If so, then you have to press the red button to make sure the rotisserie rod is engaged.
Great tips!
Glad it was helpful!
@@LanaUnderPressureThank you so so much for the reply.
I would like see you fried chicken I just got one I’m having problems but I’m watching your videos have help some
I have been testing my "fried" chicken recipe. I will probably get it on my blog faster than I can do a video for it, but it's on my list. :)
