    Please do a segment or series on rod terminology, design, & use, and how that translated to the ranges of rods you want for different target species, water/flow conditions, fishing styles, action, line, casting preferences, weight - bobber/lure/jig/terminal, etc.

    11’ 3” medium light is what I use for float fishing. Perfect all around length IMO. If I’m casting spoons a 10’ med works well

    This video and Jordans video really helped me narrow down my choices when i was choosing a rod.
    Ended up going with a Okuma X - Series 9’3” rod with a Stradic FL 4000, can’t wait to use it for some winter Steel Heads this January.

    you guys down U.S. sure do love spinning reel and short rods haha, us from Ontario - small tribs = 10' to 11', medium to large tribs = 12' to 15' (medium fast action to medium heavy fast action) with CENTERPIN

    Hey Addicts, wanted to share I purchased an Okuma Guide Select Pro spinning reel after hearing the guys raving about them and they have a limited lifetime warranty... got stupid on my 3rd trip out with it and broke it on a snag... Okuma replaced the broken upper shaft under warranty! Just sayin' in case you are shoppin' and wondering about brands and support when "stupid" shows up on the river! Thanks AF gang for letting us know about the gear you are using.

    The Covid -19 has put a real dent in trying to find a good Salmon rod, although after
    watching this video I was able to find it on Amazon and they are delivering it in three
    days. I have never yet fished for "Crome" but intend to this winter. Thanks for the advice.

    Spinning reel for the beginner but in the long run, is a baitcaster better for float fishing? I'm new to steelhead fishing and have an opportunity to pick up a brand new IMX casting rod for 200 but I'm a spinning reel guy so not sure if it's worth it to jump on the rod and invest in a reel.

    Came across your channel looking to see if they make rods and reels for saltwater fishing specially for float fishing. I'm here in South florida. If you know then I would love to hear what companies make it for saltwater. Or should I just go with a surf rod and spin reel and apply bobbers to the salt application.?

    yeah but slow action rods are best at finessing salmon on lighter lines. I'd catch more salmon on a slow rod with 8lb leader then a fast rod with 12lb leader. the fish will hit lighter leaders by 10 to 1.

    So I bought a 10’ 6” float/drift rod the Lamiglas X-11, and very first cast with a 1/2 oz bobber, 1/4 oz in-line sinker and 1/4 jig with worm, the pole completely snapped in half...I know for a fact it didn’t get stepped on or anything. Any ideas of how this happened or why? Or if lamiglas is known for this..?

    What's better for float fishing a medium light, medium or medium heavy?

    • @kennethhowe
      @kennethhowe 3 роки тому

      The 6-12 lb rod referenced in the video is a medium light power, moderate/fast action (or maybe medium action. The rod itself just says medium light action). Okuma SST or Guide Select Pro, depending on how much you want to spend. I just picked up the SST today after it was recommended from a local shop.

  • @hubertstrzalkowski1261

    Hey everyone! Great video! So I'm looking into these rods, but for walleye, bass fishing with some pike mixed in on a big river. You think it would be a good choice? I would probably go with a heavier model, but the length of these rods will allow me to cast out further than with my 7 foot spinning rod...

    • @ML-ks2lj
      @ML-ks2lj 2 роки тому

      Honestly for walleye I have a 9'6 berrypro knights sword it's Chinese from Amazon for 50 bucks or so. I love the rod though it was actually made nice. I also have my all around rod which is my 6'8 st. Croix eycon snap jig. I don't always jig with it but it's deadly all around. The rest of my rods are cheap from Meijer or Walmart. No more then 40 dollar rod and reel setups. I have to fish a boardwalk with a12 foot wall and super fast deep current. I use a 2 pound sinker to a 3 way swivel to my main mine and a leader. That's how I walleye fish and coho. All using cheap medium to medium heavy power and fast action rods. Never a rod failure. I have had 2 feels fail in my 15 years of fishing and that was a 70 dollar gander mountain reel and my 10 dollar berkly fusion reel that I bought with the berkly fusion rod at Walmart years ago for 10.99. all I'm saying is you can catch almost any fish on any reel in fresh water. If your targeting sturgeon or flathead or something then definitely don't skimp. Bass I like a heavy power and extra fast action spinning setup and I love ultra light setups for then as well. Bought the south bend 5' micro setup and it was awesome landed an 8 pound pike with 4 pound test on a black and gold panther martins.

      Get the Okuma 9'6" Celilo Salmon and Steelhead spinning rod med/lgt 6-12lb at Walmart/fishusa.com $54.99. Good for Salmon/Steelhead from a bobber, drifting beads or spinners/spoons. Good for Shad, Trout ect. Great all around rod, not breaking the bank. Use the drag on the reel correctly.
