Brendon (Hey Skipper), I just want to compliment how wonderful your videos are with so much education for fishing styles, rigs, baits, tackle, and etc. you do a phenomenal job with detail. I also want to compliment you and let you know how respected you are for your conservation efforts and the way you show respect to conserve our fisheries. Prime example is letting the Sheepshead with eggs go instead to produce many more wonderful fish!! Much respect to you, you have a great thing going keep it up!!!

Nice rig! I mainly do fishing with a float :) I love that rig and video!
Also, you can make that rig more sensitive and less resistant by adding some split shots or sinkers to balance out the buoyant force of the float.

I have been fishing for 25 years now and I am blessed to now live only 2.8 miles from the upper Mississippi river in Davenport, Iowa and I always use a float rig that looks like a modified Carolina rig. It has a traditional round float, two 1 oz egg sinker weights, a 6mm bead, a interlock crane swivel, and a pre-snelled hook with a 7 inch leader line on it. And I find I can catch any fish we have on the upper Mississippi river on that one rig because the Mississippi river has a strong current.

How well would this work at a pier? I've been fishing (absolute beginner) at a port on the Sea of Japan. I was recommended to use jigs, nut in 8 trips I have managed to catch one puffer fish. I'm thinking of switching to frozen shrimp using weights and a bobber. Thoughts?

That float rig is my go to rig for Trout. With live Finger Mullet or monster pinfish, you're going to catch big Trouts. The Red Fish and Sheepshead in the Appalachee Bay are lazy. Not interested if they have to chase their food because it's oyster country. Blue Crab dead on the bottom gets them though. Big ones. Thanks for the vid man! Reel Guys doing their THANG.

idk about salt water sheephead but i caught fresh water drum and the meat is too rubbery, tried different methods for cooking it like poor mans lobster or crab etc and no its not for me this fish, perhaps it would be good for fish jerky or pickled fish?

You are mishandling the fish. They are gonna die. You keep the fish out of the water too long, you are way too rough dehooking the fish because you dont use pliers, and you touch the fishes skin with dry hands. Fawk
