Wow! This is the most instructive video ever! Here’s me an 83 year old grandad, doesn’t have a clue and about to show the grandson how to fish when we go on holiday on a canal boat! But this video has explained it all. Luckily the man in the shop told me what I needed! And sure enough you are showing me how to set it up! I just hope my thick fingers and thumbs will be okay to tie the knots? Thank you!
you guys are amazing! I'm fishing for more than 20 years and I'm still watching your tutorial videos. The amount of great tips and tricks is astounding. Keep it up!!
These are small floats ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU recommend the package is smaller than my hand just to provide perspective. That said I wanted small floats for the times I need to add one when trout fishing or fishing for panfish. The peg is perfect for my application where I want a set hold point that is quickly adjustable and want to be able to add the float without retying. That’s the real advantage here. You can add this float to your line without retying and adjust the depth easily with the peg so it won’t kink your line like a traditionalit. If I need to set this too deep then I’d switch over to ait with a thread stop to make casting easier. But like I said, these are a great value for the price I paid. Probably better suited to applications where your depth is 5-feet or less for the sake of casting.
Used to fish when I was a kid, just started again. This was so helpful, it's really hard finding useful videos that aren't littered with unexplained terminology. You do a great job explaining things for novices! Keep it up!
Oh man, you guys are so well spoken and sound so professional it's a pleasure to listen to you. The way you structure these videos is great and from the point of view of someone just getting back into fishing they're perfect for beginners. Thanks a lot!
Back in to fishing again after 35 years thanks to you and Mortimer/Whitehouse. As always informative and interesting. Keep the content coming. You’re doing a great job.
I love the this style of fishing, it's bang on exactly how I first started out when my uncle taught me how to fish. It's unfortunate that many waters these days ban ground bait unless it's attached to a feeder etc, or some outright ban ground bait all together. I'm sure most people aren't hauling in 2kgs of ground bait a session. Even when method feeder fishing I only end up putting in less than 250g of ground bait for a whole days session.
Absolute banger of a tutorial! It’s amazing how universal and versatile this rig is. I set mine up nearly exactly the same. I mainly only use it for river fishing steelhead with a centerpin, but it is far and away the most productive method.
Hi I’m beginning fisherman and I’ve grown to catch big carp due to ur videos Evan my first knot in my room re watching your video back and back thank you for teaching me every thing I ever needed to know. I know a over stocked perch lake near my house and has perch of over 3 pound and will be a nice place if u see this comment to go
I've literally gone back to fishing after 15 years, and your videos are extremely useful, especially with how much has changed since simple home made "ping-pong" bite indicators for example 😄👏🏻
Best channel by far, for learning how to fish. I cannot commend enough, your style of explaining things to beginners like me. You guys have really helped me understand different types of fishing. I want to thank you. And hope to see you around the Essex fishing spots one day !!
Another fantastic video even though I've been fishing for years I still watch the tutorials as you can never know everything spot on guys keep up the great work
Came back to say I went fishing today for the first time in over 10 years and was awesome! I got 7 fish and some bad sunburns but always worth lol Thankyou for these videos I remember a lot of tips and even found my own from trying
I live in Australia. I know no-one that Coarse fishes. You guys are the only source of information that I know of. I have an old book but this is better. This video and your others are INCREDIBLY informative! Keep them coming. Love your videos. Keep the Alex and Carl competitions coming! LOL
Thank you very much sir! Picking fishing back up this weekend with my 6 and 4 year old daughters after about... 6 years out... 😅 this video was perfect. Thank you again
Thank you for this video. I'm about to get back into fishing after a 20 year break and I couldn't remember the basics on tying hooks, etc. It's all coming back to me. Great video.
Me again a month later. I'm absolutely fishing mad again. 8 hour sessions, buying loads of new gear, learning all the different rigs, etc. Having the time of my life. Why did I wait this long?
Absolutely love your video's, both of your channels have given me the inspiration and information to get into fishing. I am fairly new at float fishing, and this video has gone a long way. So far I have only used the straight waggler, but I want to change up my experience and try out using top and bottom floats on moving water. Would it be possible to see you guys set up this rig from start to finish along with the baits you would use? Much appreciated 😁
Just want to thank you for your advice on chumming a little at a time, but often to keep the fish in the area and feeding. I teach Fly Fishing merit badge to the Boy Scouts. There is a place where a guy has a fish feeder that throws dog food (fish pellets) on a timer. I had the scouts tye a "corn fly" using brown foam. If we toss a cup full of dog food it creates a feeding frenzy and attracts lots of assorted fish... but they soon are full and stop biting. By taking your advice and tossing 3 or 4 pellets at a time, the fish continue to feed constantly over a longer period of time and give the kids more chances to catch more fish. Your fishing methods work on all kinds of fish... Mahalo for all the fishing tips, Aloha, Stan
I had always wanted to do angling....But most people who knowd dont guide you...Thanks a lot for guiding me through this awesome hobby.. .Love From India 🇮🇳...🙏🙏🙏
Taking my daughter's 5/3 float fishing this weekend for the first time and this has been a great refresher. Haven't float fished for 20 years +. Great video and definitely liked and subscribed. Cheers from Aus 🤙
Very informative Lads . Think you covered everythinng there . When you start out fishing young , the float is most definitely the first thing you learn . But when you start late , the feeder or bomb is , most of the time , the first thing you learn and float fishing becomes very daunting . Well explained and easy to follow . Well done . Waiting onn the Giant Peacock Bass vid !!! Lol .
Just great guys! I always wanted a vid to explain all that.thanks.can wait to aply some of the wisdom you shared while fishing for crucian with my son! Have a nice evening!
Only just seen this tutorial video and it's the perfect video for a beginner to watch it gives you a bit of everything to get you started in fishing. Top advice video carl. From Justin in West Midlands.
This is just tremendous content. Congrats to you both. It's so clear, so concise, and so well filmed and produced. Could I make a request? It would be amazing to see a video quickly explaining the best way to hook the various commonly used coarse baits, eg maggots, casters, bread, sweetcorn, pellets etc. Cheers and tight lines!
I totally agree. I also think that when you fish with worms, its not always a strike. They try to swim away with the worm in the mouth without the hook. I would say worm bait are a bit trickier because of their length. I always try to penetrate the worm at least twice, to make it role up to a ball.
Good to watch some Real Fishing, and no sleeping in a tent waiting for a bite-alarm to tell you to reel-in a self-hooked fish! I also use a travel light and stay mobile approach, with no Removal Van required!👍
@@fishingtutorialsno worries! Quick question; I have put 50m of backing cheap mono followed by 100m of nice Maxima line on my reel, is that the right ratio of backing line?
If your spool is filled to approx 1-2mm beneath the top of the lip, then that’s perfect! The aim is to have enough line for a big cast (100m enough if course fishing) and then the backing is just to fill the spool to the top. Some shallow spools will just take 100m of line and in those cases backing isn’t important. But line can be expensive and there’s no point filling a really deep spool with 500m of costly line! ;)
Hi. Your video reminds me of my very fist fishing experience. I was like 5 or 6. I grew up in japan. When i was there, reel was really expensive. My rod was simple bamboo^^ float fishing is how i met fishing. The big ball of chumming ball you throw.......In japan i hide 6 small hooks in there and wait for hours reading MANGA or ANIME.
Mate. Your videos are really helping me out. I've no idea what I'm doing but me and my pal are trying. Thank your brother for the clicky heads up on his video. Some of these fishing enthusiasts are horrid. Most are great... Me and my mate are no fools though.
tip for strung out shotting pattern, bigger leads closer to the float decrease in size towards the hook. String the shots out more towards the hook. this increasing spaced shots is less likely to tangle the line when casting, after failed strike, or when big fish free themselfs. in addition the bait drops "nice". eg: float bb bb 1 1 4 4 6 6 6 hook
i fished for years with only catching 2-3 a year. then i started to float fish and havent stopped since. i can now catch 10fish/hour minimum, and catch anything from 1/4pound perch to a 5lbs bass.
1:08 as an option you can pass the end of the thread through the buttonhole that has been created after you passed it through the first small one connecting to the hook. This adds a lot more strenght to the knot and avoids accidental failures.
The author is right in many ways. But... Sinker beads, it's better not to hook with this method. In the place where the weights cling, the fishing line flattens. And weak points are made in the places of their attachment. What makes the weak link is not the leash - but the entire equipment. It is better to attach sinkers from the beginning of the fishing line. Sinkers should be soft. At the beginning of the fishing line, you need to make 3-4 flattenings across one line with tongs. And when moving the weights, it is a must to wet the fishing line so as not to overheat it. This will also make it a weak link. In this way, we have a whole fishing line and weights that move nicely on the rig.
I am slow at setting up the float. But that's because I have to make sure it's perfect and I'm happy that dropper shot is working for me. It takes me roughly half hour once it's set up. That's casting about 2ft all round swim incase there's even a couple inches difference. Lol I do my own head in sometimes. I do use a float connector at all times. My fave float fishing is done in margins for carp in summer tho or out a bit under over hanging trees. Tip I do great on manilla paste close in.

The best way and the most rewarding way to fish, the only bad thing is going to bed and still seeing the float when your eyes are shut lol
This is so annoying
I thought it was just me lol, glad I'm not the only one 😂
@Maik Tristan Huber At least your seeing it go down!
Best comment on youtube 😂😂😂
Am I the only one who likes when that happens especially when you see it jump up and down like a when a fish bites?
Haven't fished for 30 years but this video has filled me with enthusiasm to start again. Many thanks.

Where are you able to get the rubbers for them? Do they come with the waggler or?
Wozzaa it’s a match fishing thing would highly recommend the preston innovation waggler kit
What's a rubber?

I usually give the hook a tug before cutting the line. As sometimes the line want to slip so pulling as hard as possible ensure a truly tied hook
My favourite is the feeder but it brings back wonderful memories as a very young child.
I can imagine :) Fishing the float does the same thing for us!
Excellent video to get me started. Thanks
Very informative and simply explained. 👍
