I am not basing my purchase on this video. He did not explain if he had both vacuum and sander on same circuit. Another UA-camr explained having the exact same issue and tested it by plugging into another outlet and problem solved. It seems the DA needs a certain amount of power to run smoothly.
I think he shares the circuit from the vacuum itself. Some vacuums are designed or built with an outlet for sanders to plug in to vacuum. This can cause issues because some vacuum comes with horrible plug 🔌 outlet. I used it 4-8 hours a day. Share same outlet coming out of wall as vacuum. No issues. I think is not the sander it’s his electrical having issues.
Yeah this is important. The way it 'dies' and then resumes at 100% capacity for a few seconds before 'dying' the same way doesn't seem like tool motor death at all.
@@patrickgirard-k3g I have mine almost a year now. I use it daily. I build high end cabinets. I ran circuit for these sanders separately from all other tools. My 2 helpers ran both sanders at same time. Some days 6-8 hours of sanding. No issues at all when u ran them on its own circuit. I love them they are as good as 3m sander or even better in my opinion
I'm currently thinking about buying the Maxxt 5.0 in 6”. And I'm wondering whether European customers also have such problems, as the power grid is very different. You have 110V 60hz, we have 230V 50hz. China, where the Maxxt sander is probably manufactured, also has 230v and 50hz...
The customer service is absolutely Phenomenal. I had a similar issue. They sent me the LED pad.... Wrong diagnosis. The sent me a new mother board and paddle. I installed it, rewired it, it works. But we will see for how long. MaxXT is a definite Not Recommended tool. Unfortunately I can't return it. My return wind has closed. Lesson learned. Stick to name brand. 3M, DeWalt, Festool. Just gotta save more so I can afford it. Aloha. Thanks for sharing this video.
Dewalt, Festool is also our goal to achieve. We also produce powertools for dewalt brand. We believe we have enough ablility to slove customers' problems. We will keep improving. Sorry for incovenient and thanks for your feedback. It is because of all the feedback you have given us that we have room to improve and get closer to dewalt, festool again. 😀
My maxxt sander has been great so far. 6 months in with almost daily sanding. Though I'm not doing big furniture and gets used for about 5 minutes at a time multiple times throughout the day.
It appears that the source of the problem affecting the sander maybe due to sensitivity to changes in voltage. A couple of reviewers have noted that if the sander and the dust collection runs off the same circuit, you can run into situations where the unit shuts off. If the sander is plugged into a circuit that is different then what is powering the dust collection, the sander does not experience the same power issues. Before giving your ultimate thumbs down, I think it's worth testing this theory. In reality, it's very easy for us to start overloading our circuits in the shop. It's just not something we normally think about. The more power we draw, the more we risk damage to our tools. Additionally, we don't really have any way of knowing just how clean the power is in the shop, without the use of some advanced diagnostic tools.
Hello, thanks for watching! Whether that’s the cause or not I can’t speak to. I sent it back. I can say that I switched to the 3M Xtract sander. I’ve been using it a ton for the last 10 months with no issues.

Thanks. I was about to pull the trigger. Reminds me of my Porter Cable 6". My friend who is a full time woodworker told me to make sure I bought the replacement plan, which I've done many times, often not even needing to use it, as the sander would die before a week or a month was out. I honestly lost count after 5 or 6 of them. I'm buying another 6" this weekend or next week, and am just going to have to suck it up and spend the big bucks. I often have to sand for hours on end, so no way would that work.
Thanks for watching! I ended up spending the money to get a 3M sander and so far it’s been great. I’ve got quite a lot of time on it and it’s still running great.
Hey, thanks for watching! I ended up going with the 3M sander. It’s quite a bit more money but I’ve been using the hell out of it and it’s never failed.
Hi 👋, Thank you for the territorial, as they say you pay your money and get what you pay for, I no that they are expensive but I would’ve gone for a Festool or Maffel sander , I have got Festool, which I have had for approximately 15 to 20 years the only thing I’ve ever had to replace is brushes new leads occasionally and bass pad, Good luck with your adventure, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE
I have the 6" version, and used it for one project. It was running more than 30min, but not continuously. This sander makes me not hate sanding as much, but I still hate sanding in general. If I can't hand plane, I scraper. Sanding is the last option for me. It would be a great product test with a fixed amount of weight on it and find out how much down pressure is enough and how much is too much.
@Fusion_Woodworking probably because I was replying to someone else? Basically the person says they try to only plane or scrape in order to avoid sanding. A plane doesn't replace sanding. 🤷
@@rustic35 that’s also my account. I now have a second account dedicated for woodworking. My original statement is my preference, yet I never claimed one replacing another. I can see reflections in my planed white oak surface. I do not think 320 grit sand paper can give me that kind of result, not even 3M cubitron mesh on a festool sander.
I’ve been in discussions with Maxxt it’s a static issue that shuts the processor down and they are working on this minor issue. I have two of them and have had no problems and it’s been reliable.
Several reviewers have identified that running and sander on the same circuit as the dust collector may also contribute to the sander turning off. Given that the manufacturer is looking at a possible static issue as a root cause, my guess is that this is electrically related and not mechanical. It may be worth trying to run the sander on a circuit separate from the dust collector.

This sander need a constant voltage and when plugged into a vacuum, you share the same circuit and can see voltage drop where the sander will stop. Just plug into a different circuit and you'll be fine. This guy isn't too perceptive on problem solving.
Well, actually, the sander and the vacuum were plugged into different circuits. However, If that’s necessary for it to operate that’s just further proof that it’s not a good sander. I’ve been putting a ton of hours on my 3m sander with no concerns of plugging into a different circuit than the vacuum and I’ve had no issues.
Very misleading. You never explain what the issue actually was. Was it the sander? was it your power? something else? This is very unfair to the manufacturer as there maybe many people that take your word for it and dont buy this sander.
Nothing misleading at all. It was not a power issue it was a defect with the sanders. Hopefully the manufacturer gets it figured out if they haven’t already.
I can't speak about the Max as I don't have one, but since it's a Mirka Deros styled sander I can speak about the Deros. In the manual for the Deros it states if using a interface/protection pad to keep it in the 7k rpm range as a max. Most everyone who buys the Deros will be using net abrasives and in turn a interface/protection pad. So if running maxed at 10k rpm it could possibly account for the dreaded control module fault that people experience with the Deros. As I imagine most don't read the manual and run it balls out. It's just a theory and could be bullshit, but through the Mirka App I set my paddle to max out at 7.6k rpm. Time will tell for me and the Mirka I suppose, but I can add that in my just under a year with the Mirka, I've gotten a lot better run time than your 30 minutes with the Max.
