I don't have £500 to drop on a sander but I always appreciate your well presented and clearly unbiased reviews. In a murky online world of adverts misrepresented as reviews/opinions this is really appreciated! Thanks Keith!
I have a 3M Extractor sander like yours and can 100% confirm the loud noise and vibrations as you mentioned. It is so bad that I don’t feel comfortable turning it on up in mid air like you did as it gives me the impression it’s on the verge of breaking down with very loud noise and vibration (the two goes together). I don’t have a Mirka yet but after watching this video I’m planning to buy one. Thank you for the thorough review 👍
Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing. I live in Minnesota where we have strong loyalty to 3M as almost all of us have a family relative that has worked there. I don’t think I would buy the 3M extract because it is a great first attempt but a second revision would be that much better. May not happen and the Mirka is a quality professional tool that seems very refined. The only reservation I have is costumer support which is difficult to really know because you cannot base it on hearsay from random people on the internet. If a button stops working I’d think they’d make it right. As an aside 3M’s air/pneumatic sanders are something I’d probably buy. Automotive industry has refined them over a few decades.
Thanks for the review - I bought the Mirka a year or so ago and really like it for similar reasons: very little vibration, fairly quiet and the sound is not irritating, and great dust collection.
Good video Keith, I’m very happy with my Sealey DAS150PS (£200), it certainly doesn’t make that noise with a pad saver fitted. The cord was annoyingly short & stiff, so I converted it to a Festool plug-it connector 👍.
Excellent video Keith, your presentation and production are really professional and you speak with authority, always enjoyed your content but you're getting better all the time ! Sadly I'm not in the market for a £500 sander but it was interesting to hear anyway and as always I love your authentic reconstructions ! 😉😂
I have to admit that given the video's title and your well documented challenges with the Mirka I was expecting a different result. That said I tend to agree with the key points you made in favour of the mirka. I chose Mirka for the dust extraction because anything less than the best I can afford is not good enough and noise. The fact it stops quickly and it's really comfortable were bonuses. I used a 3m on a community project I volunteered for a few weeks ago and found it to be a good machine - very effective on sanding old paint and I can see why the professional on the project who owned it liked its performance. On a busy noisy site it didn't sound out of place but 'hearing' the comparison in the video side-by side I know which one my neighbour would prefer when she's out in the garden and I'm spending an hour or two finishing in the workshop. K.
Cheers Karl. Yeah I expected the opposite result too to be honest! I do wonder if the one I have hasn't been balanced properly or something, as it really is quite jerky. A bit disappointing! If I had a contact at 3M I'd be asking them to check it over!
Nice review Keith. I bought a new sander in the middle of last year. I was using a cordless DeWalt (can’t remember the exact model) and it was so heavy and noisy. After a bit of research I went for the Festool ETS 150/5 which I got for €499 (similar or even a bit cheaper than the Mirka). My decision was swayed by the fact I bought a new Shop vac which was also Festool so the lack of a need for adapters was a plus for me. I’m honestly blown away by it. How quiet it is and also the speed at which it removes material. Dust collection is great also. Obviously comparing to,the old DeWalt is like night and day and I always wondered was it much different to the Mirka. Thanks as always for your content.
@@RagnBoneBrown gotta love that rotex.. I also use Mirka's and would like to get one of my own but the Rotex 150 with some rough paper is like a flap disk grinder for wood and with a switch of the knob and a new paper you're back to fine polishing. Heavy as it is, there is a reason it is so ubiquitous. If you haven't you should also take a look at makita's big belt sander, I've seen some old school pros use that thing effectively as a thicknesser, just having a dance with it.
You should get on to Festool UK to send you one to test Keith. 👍 I have an ETS 150/5 for the last 3 years, fantastic tool. The hard backer pad is much better than the stock one, and I switched to Abranet instead of the Festool Granat discs, way better. I am not a fanboy by any stretch, and when I upgraded my trusty old blue Bosch at the time, I also looked at a Mirka. I just don't like the paddle type trigger-the button on the front of the ETS is much better IMO; especially for longer sanding I find it's easier on my hands to be able change grip.
I’ve bought my Mirka 7 years ago together with their vacuum, it was a package deal I couldn’t afford to pass on beating the Festool price wise by quite a margin. I have to say that after an initial failure the Mirka has been an absolute workhorse. I’ve used the Mirka to sand oak floors in my sons salon business. I don’t get any repetitive hand strain when using for hours at a time. Dust extraction is super, on a flat surface. Would I buy again - yes. Thanks for posting.
Used a Mirka for the first time yesterday! Wonderful to use… but reviews have said they break more than others. Sounds like you’ve had a good time with it! Trying not to be out off by other people… 🤷🏼♂️ I’m a decorator so it’ll be moved around regularly… would you recommend the Mirka set up?
@@Elwooddudes there were some issues with Mirka sanders about 5 years ago which many were affected. Min3 was a none Bluetooth type and the motor failed. Repaired under warranty faultless since and it has done 150 square metres of hard floor, floors, walls everything. I tend to use Mirka disks but 3M are supposed to be better. Johnstone paint centres stock Mirka. I also have the Mirka vac bought via a Dulux trade centre. I can’t comment on Festool only that the combo would have been 500 quid more. Wish you success. Regards Mike
My friend has a 3m sander at work and was extremely impressed. It was as quiet as the Mirka. Both sand about the same. Just thought I would mention my experience.
I have no experience of the Mirka however have the 3M and love it. I didn't have any of the noise or vibration issues. The motor isn't the same pitch as my Festool sanders but I dont mind that. It works really well and very happy with it. Thanks for posting - love the videos.
Had my own Deros for 4 years, been using them for 7….zero issues aside from when one was dropped from height, fixed in 2 weeks under warranty. Have sanded entire (very large) floors with one in the past, on all day (8 hours) for 3 whole days as an example. Not the ideal way to do it obvs but that’s what I was told to do at the time. Never gets too hot, dust collection is the best going and most ergonomic to use, picked up an equivalent sized Festool recently the weight difference is mental, felt really heavy. Be sure you give them a very thorough clean like every 6 months, (preferably out of warranty if taking case off)helps with cooling if used for long periods of time. Easy to do with the provided spanner and a torx bit. Or else use a vac and blower to remove dust build up from any vented areas. Vid on here somewhere no doubt. All in, have zero reason to use any other brand!
Interesting. I git the Makita version of these a coupke of months ago and run it connected to a Henry hoover with EPA collection bags - so I can sand walls and doors and things, Totally unlike a regukar circuar sander of old. A different tool and one that will pay for itself because I can avoid using plasterers for skimming many walls and because I'll save time on prep work with decorating.
I'm sure you know this, but I was considering throwing away the used disks ... then I realised they were really useful for hand sandingthimgs like newel posts, handrails and anything curved.
There’s a lot of liars out there… it’s impossible when every tool a certain channel gets to review is always the “ the best one he’s ever used” thank you for being one of the honest ones.

Used both of those sanders, really like mirka I just cant get used to the paddle design always gets in my way when I move my grip around on long sanding sessions. Why I only buy Festool sanders. nice review.
Got to ask, do you use the Deros with a festool midi or similar extractor? Do you use any form of hose adaptor or just rely on pushing the deros male into the festool hose with a twist and hoping for the best? It seems to work fine, but doesn’t sit quite right with me.
@@laurencecarr670 I dont own a Deros but used one for a week as a test from a local company trying to get me to switch from Festool. If I remember it just pushed on no turn like festool.
Fantastic and honest review, Keith! Thanks! 😃 I just searched and found both available here in Brazil! But damn, I'm going to keep using my Stanley. 😬 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I bought the 3m. It lasted 1 year then just stopped running/turning on. Always used with a vacuum. I now have the Deros. It’s actually MUCH more weight balanced and less prone to tipping. Proves you never buy a first gen product
I worked for 3M for ten years, they do some great products, expensive but excellent, generally. I never worked in industrial or automotive which these products are part of, but I do buy the consumable products to use. Though my sanders are Bosch and Festool 😊

I used to use a Mirka Deros everyday to sand brand new rocking horses, they were amazing to use, so robust and were used as they gave off a low amount of vibration that was under the regulations exceptable for using around 8 hours a day.
nice video. I think the comfort issue is really important if you are going to be using it for extended periods of time, which presumably anyone who spends that kind of money will be. So I will stick with my Deros, which you can use all day and not feel tired with.
Hi I know your not testing it but the MAXXT is the same design and half the price just thought you might want to check it out. I've had mine for 6 months now and I'm really happy with it. Keep up the good work.
They both look great sanders to use and they seem to have their own advantages. Reliability is definitely a big issue in terms of usage. Great video mate 👍🏽 👌 👏
Great video Mr. Brown! I agree with some of the other comments on here regarding the 3M noise. Mine has mostly just a wind whooshing sound (not that nasty loud vibration noise). Something seems off with yours unfortunately.

I have the 6” version of the 3M Extract. It does not sound anything like the one in your video. I agree with you, if mine sounded like yours I would find it objectionable as well. Mine is quiet and sands beautifully. It may have something to do with the motor? In the states we use 120V 60 cycle power. In Britain your power is 50 cycle (?) thus requiring a different motor perhaps? Just a thought. Thanks for the review.

Just bought the 3m and mine, while has a slightly louder start, then drops slightly to a tolerable volume, although I would still want ear protection. However, it doesn't have as annoying a sound as I heard during your operation of it. It does seem like something is off with it, and even if it's just your backup I would get it looked at.

That 3M sounds like something is broken or loose inside. BTW, if you have have used these two, any chance you could check out Bosch's professional sanders? 😊 Not the green ones ;)
It reminds me of consumer grade green Bosch. Very unpleasant to work with for long periods of time. Sanding by itself is already an unpleasant business in general, so anything that can make it every so slightly better is a win in my book.

I have the xtract and I do not have that sound you have. Not even remotely close. Sounds almost identical to the Mirka. However, I did have to have my xtract refurbished once. They repaired it for free for me though, so, at least there is that. It was out and back in maybe a week and a half? So, customer service is good.
The 3m pads are amazing to use. I purchased a MENZER ETS 150 Random Orbital Sander as could not afford the Mirka. Still not cheap bit I've found it wonderful to use, low enough vibration not to upset my faulty hand. And quiet enough to be drowned out by the dust extractor. Would love to see a review of other mirka alternatives as the DIY sanders are not good for your hands or ears
When I first got my Mirka (I have 4) I put a Mirka pad saver on the 5” sander. After using it for a while the sander would shut off??? Called dealer they had me send it back for warranty repair. When I got it back service department said nothing wrong with it!? It kept cutting off for me?! Finally I looked at manual. If you use pad saver you must realign balance screws under sanding pad which I did and haven’t had a problem since.
I used a demo Mirka sander at show yesterday… was awesome! But now I’m looking into things… everyone is mentioning that they break etc? Not sure what to do. I’ve been looking at Festool too, but will be looking at all options before I spend all my money
i've gone through some amount of sanders and have several in my workshop the Mirka Deros and Flex ORE 5-150 are by fa the best I have used for finish work
I have the extract sander and had the same unpleasant noise issue when I put the pad-saver on it. I had been using the sander for a bit while waiting for the pad saver to arrive in the mail so I took it back off and the sound went back to normal with a MUCH nicer tone, less vibration in my hand, and overall quieter. I strongly suggest comparing the extract with the pad saver on and off to compare the difference. For me, it was night & day.

How a tool feels to use is in my view very important. Whera and Facom tools are both fantastic but the Famon stuff is just so much nicer in the hand and worth the money IMO.
Nice head to head mate. That 3M sander noise ain't right. I've had similar sometimes on my sanders when either my disc/sheet isn't holding well or my saver/disc is badly aligned. Either cause vibration at full chat. I've never used the 3M but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't design one that sounds like that. Maybe crack the nut holding the pad on too. Could be it's not quite seated.👍
As always mate you're absolutely spot on!! Haha.... I've just posted a follow up to this on Instagram stories and pinned a comment, hopefully others will see it and take note of the update in addition to the video review. It's a very strange issue though? The DEROS is just as quiet with or without the pad saver, yet the 3M seems to hate the pad savers?? Bizarre
@@RagnBoneBrown Perhaps something to do with them calibrating the vibrations for a certain weight? Can't imagine the pad saver weighs enough but you never know.
Hi, I've just posted an update to this via Instagram stories following some comments on the video suggesting it is the pad saver - see here: instagram.com/stories/ragnbonebrown/3151964799280130289/ Thanks, Keith
Hi there, great review thank you very much! One question, would you recommend the Deros to for sanding kitchen countertop (oak)? You said you nearly always use the tools on maximum intensity. Because it is not worth it to use the lower levels? Because the work you do doesn't call for it? An answer would be amazing :) Thank you!
The DEROS has gone up quite a bit in price recently out of nowhere. MSRP on them now is sitting around $750 USD. I'm kicking myself for not buying a couple of them 2-3 years ago when they were around $500. It's almost impossible to find them used anywhere, I suspect because they're so good no one ever wants to get rid of them. I'd be curious to try the 3M for myself, but having spent several years using the Mirka on a daily basis (Taylor Guitars' factory uses them exclusively and I worked there from 2021 until the beginning of this year), the Mirka really is the best sander I've ever used in my life. I'm mostly curious if you get good fine motor control with the 3M by changing pressure on the paddle with your palm like you can do with the Mirka.
If you take the pad saver off the 3m sander, I think you will find it is much quieter and the vibrration is non existent. I did the same thing as you after a week of use and bought some pad savers to use with it and for some reason they seem to somehow through off vibration and additional noise even with their limited weight.
I have to agree that sound from the 3M sander went straight through me. Far to higher pitch for me. It would put me off ifi was looking to spend serious money on a new sander. Overall I thought you did a great job comparing them.
Hi, I've just posted an update to this via Instagram stories following some comments on the video suggesting it is the pad saver - see here: instagram.com/stories/ragnbonebrown/3151964799280130289/ Thanks, Keith
The better dust collection is really important to me working In a shop I don't want to have to use a dust mask all the time. That's why I would go with mirka I have a festool but will probably grab a mirka at some point. If I had employees. The 3M is around 200 dollars less in canada so I would probably buy that sander for production if you needed multiple sanders
The noise you’re hearing is due to the pad saver. I’ve got one too and any time I use it, you get that same vibrating sound. It’s much quieter if you take the pad saver off.

how long have you used the new DEROS? the cutting speed might affected by the age of the DEROS. How does the 3M Xtract sandpaper performance compare to Mirka Abranet?
Very informative Keith! But that sound! It is so weird! Maybe the pad itself isn't fitted properly, and any disburbance of its balance might cause it to be out of allignment? that sound it makes with the pad saver on it is just aweful!

@@RagnBoneBrown I know, watched it before posting my comment. In my comment I meant the fixed pad, not the one you added to save the velcro. But that is just a guess, maybe an engineer here knows more about it? Hope you find out and let us know!
Absolutely! They last much much longer if you're using them on wood. Some people seem to disagree with me on that, but I've found they significantly outlast abranet, abranet ace, iridium and nova discs by Mirka
@@RagnBoneBrown cheers. When I next need some I’ll give them a whirl. Got quite a lot of abranet in stock though as I bought a bulk lot in a deal! Unfortunately it looks like 3m don’t do delta ‘disks’. ☹️
Check your Deros manual for the section on balancing. You can remove the actual pad using the provided spanner and install a bolt or remove a couple of nuts. It's all in the manual and it's supposed to be set up different if you use the pad saver instead of just the standard pad. That being said, if the 3M sounds like that because of the Pad saver it must be built VERY poorly. Even without setting up the Mirka it never makes that sort of racket! Mirka for the win 😁👌🏼
I don't do reading, especially manuals!! 🤣🤣🤣 The DEROS comes with a pad saver in the box (I think?) So I wonder if it has already been set up for it? I'm not sure .... I will see if there's a video on the subject 😁
Not that I am going to buy either as it is a lot of money to spend when I already have a working sander, but for me there is no doubt that I would go for the Mirka DEROS despite the extra cost as it has a brake and I really dislike not being bale to put the sander down more or less immediately after realising the trigger.

Does the Xtract have that same tone when its actually being used to sand? This is purely speculation but that sound when the Xtract is being run while you are simply holding it up sounds a bit like there is something loose and its rattling, making that extra noise. I'm wondering if the pressure against the sanding pad muffles that extra noise while actively sanding.

There are lots of negative reviews on the 3M. I purchased lightly used one and loved it until it stopped working. Is less than a year old but I'm not the original purchaser so warranty doesn't apply. Very disappointing.
That new one sounds wrong. Run out or not, that native base is running well off centre. That eccentric mass is going to wreck bearings and bushes. The vibration must be as shockingly bad as the sound it makes.
I've been doing this trade on and off, mostly on for almost 40 years and my current sander cost $18 lol i just can't justify paying more for a sander than a basic table saw, or planer.
I think you may have gotten a defective 3M (which isn't a great endorsement of the sander, to be fair). I have been using a 3M for about 5 months now and mine is much quieter than yours. Also mine stops more quickly. I don't know about the other tests comparing it to the Mirka, though.

The deros is currently 77% more than the 3m. Is it worth it for 2 extra years of mirka warranty that you'll probably utilize, and a slightly quieter tool?
Looks like you have a bad unit, or the hose adapter vibrates, causing that sound. YOu can see it spinning in the video. I have heard the 3M sander and it as quiet as the Festool and the mirka
A balanced review, nice. But that 3M doesn't sound right at all. definitely something wrong, loose, or broken. But like you say you can only review the tool in your hand.

@@RagnBoneBrown oh, thanks . Well it's very weird that you can't put the protective pad on without getting all that noise. Also that 9 sec to stop after releasing the switch, is very absurde. My bosch green orbital sander takes less to stop, and it's a 70€ sander.. (and I hate to wait that much for it to stop spinning before i can put in on the bench) i will still consider Mirka or Festool . Thanks again for the comparison, at least I have my mind more clear now 🙏
You cant compare both sander for the sound of de the 3M it's probably because you have choose the 3/16" orbit sander and not the 3/32" you should take that in fact. Because all the problem you point at the 3m will be cut in half!

Nice Review, A couple points which may have influenced the results. I assume your review was completed with 220v (UK) which may have affected the noise / vibration since the USA reviews utilized 115v. Also the intermediate pad placed on the 3M may have influenced the dust extraction / vibration.
I have both Mirka and 3M and after 1 year of sanding, the mirka is the best, 3M has a good customer service but shitty waranty. My Sander went 3 times for repair in 12.5 month and beleive it or not, the last time, after 12.5 month they asked me $370 cnd to fix the unit. It had the same problem 3 times..... so i gues it is a sander for people who uses it once in a while and not for professionnal use..... so 3M is NO GOOD machine.....

Please see my update in the latest vlog video
Thanks for the review - I bought the Mirka a year or so ago and really like it for similar reasons: very little vibration, fairly quiet and the sound is not irritating, and great dust collection.
....So just one more year before your Mirka deros will go bust, as most of them do.
Many thanks!
Cheers. I'd love to have a go on the ETS150 and compare it with the Mirka. I've tried a rotex which belonged to my friend and that was impressive.
I have an ETS 150/5 for the last 3 years, fantastic tool.
Have you discussed the CTS Dust Extraction Adapters you mention please?
Confused sizes (int / ext) on descriptions don't make it easy.
Cheers. Check out the pinned comment if you didn't see it
Great to see such a balanced comparison. Clear and unambiguous, but obviously your own opinion. Thanks.
Thank you!
I git the Makita version of these a coupke of months ago and run it connected to a Henry hoover with EPA collection bags - so I can sand walls and doors and things,
Totally unlike a regukar circuar sander of old. A different tool and one that will pay for itself because I can avoid using plasterers for skimming many walls and because I'll save time on prep work with decorating.
Hi, which Makita model is it that you have? I'm not aware of one that is similar to the Mirka DEROS/3M Xtract
@@RagnBoneBrown It's the Makita Random Orbit Sander BO6050J from Axminster Tools. I got a sacrificial pad and Mirka velcro pads.
I'm sure you know this, but I was considering throwing away the used disks ... then I realised they were really useful for hand sandingthimgs like newel posts, handrails and anything curved.
I’ve got Deros which has been great, but l hate the rear plug, converted it to Neutrik connectors 🎉
yep its a pain in the ass and has broken 3 times on mine...

I like the deros. I have the delta too. Not a fan of the paddle either though, as, if you lay it on it’s back, off it goes like a deranged turtle.
Thanks! 😃
I just searched and found both available here in Brazil! But damn, I'm going to keep using my Stanley. 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I'll stick to my erbauer 😁 at least until I get offered something better for free 😂
Frist honest review of the 3m sander. Would like to see more reviwe from you your great at them

I've used both of these and the festool and I will take the 3M all day everyday
Nice review Keith.
Great video, and never going back from my mirka! Best sander out there. The pad saver doesn't make a sander vibrate more. That's BS!
the pad saver absolutely does make the Xtract sander vibrate...
Hi I know your not testing it but the MAXXT is the same design and half the price just thought you might want to check it out. I've had mine for 6 months now and I'm really happy with it. Keep up the good work.

I already did ^
They both look great sanders to use and they seem to have their own advantages.
Reliability is definitely a big issue in terms of usage.
Great video mate 👍🏽 👌 👏
Good video , Thanks for your honest review on these sanders. Take care Keith see you on the next video😃😃👍👍👍

Glad I’m not only one having problems disconnecting plug from my Mirka

The Menzer I believe is the same as the Hyvst that I compared to the DEROS in a previous video on my channel: ua-cam.com/video/IlJaS-iiL10/v-deo.html
@RagnBoneBrown ok, I'll check it out
When I first got my Mirka (I have 4) I put a Mirka pad saver on the 5” sander.
10 minutes nerding out on sanders. I would only watch this in your channel 😂😂
I would always choose made in Finland over made in Taiwan.
i've gone through some amount of sanders and have several in my workshop the Mirka Deros and Flex ORE 5-150 are by fa the best I have used for finish work
I have the extract sander and had the same unpleasant noise issue when I put the pad-saver on it.

There dualing for the second place ? Because festool taks the cake
Bizarre
@@RagnBoneBrown Ah, awesome. Glad you you managed to sort it mate👍 Still an informative side by side review mind.
@@RagnBoneBrown Perhaps something to do with them calibrating the vibrations for a certain weight? Can't imagine the pad saver weighs enough but you never know.

In Australia I can get the 3m for $417 and the Deeros is $900, probably changes the cost/benefit analysis.
My mirka is still going after 8 years , was used intensly when i painted yachts ,you get what you pay for.
Good Honest video, thanks. I am looking to get a good sander, and I came across your video. It helped me.👍
The better dust collection is really important to me working In a shop I don't want to have to use a dust mask all the time. That's why I would go with mirka I have a festool but will probably grab a mirka at some point. If I had employees. The 3M is around 200 dollars less in canada so I would probably buy that sander for production if you needed multiple sanders
I've given up with mirka. Had mine break 3 times in 2 years. Going to for the Metabo SXE 150-5.0 BL Random Orbital Sander
It's the same machine
It would be interesting to know how my Menzer stacks up against the 3M, I would think it’s like the one that you borrowed from Peter a year or two ago
Yeah I think the Hyvst is the Menzer in a different colour!
The noise you’re hearing is due to the pad saver. I’ve got one too and any time I use it, you get that same vibrating sound. It’s much quieter if you take the pad saver off.
Yes I covered this in my recent vlog video
3M sounds broken. Mine is very quiet.

how long have you used the new DEROS? the cutting speed might affected by the age of the DEROS. How does the 3M Xtract sandpaper performance compare to Mirka Abranet?
+1 for low noise operations
Very informative Keith!
But that sound! It is so weird! Maybe the pad itself isn't fitted properly, and any disburbance of its balance might cause it to be out of allignment? that sound it makes with the pad saver on it is just aweful!

@@RagnBoneBrown yes, do that!
Guys that have had problems with the Mirka plug connection to the sander what has been your fix?
Great real life review! Question - would you recommend the 3m disks over the abranet and if so why?
I believe they both have a brake, it's just that the brake on the 3M example that I have doesn't seem to work well at all....
Great review as always - the American woodworking gang ain’t gonna be happy… 🙂

Lol, not as bad as when you say, Milwaukee bad, red army goes nuts

The run off is due to the 5mm orbit - by design
@@RagnBoneBrown Okay
Helpful - thanks!
I've been doing this trade on and off, mostly on for almost 40 years and my current sander cost $18 lol i just can't justify paying more for a sander than a basic table saw, or planer.
your 3M sander sounds much louder than the other reviews, the vibrating noise may come from the pad protector.
I have never used my 3M at full speed. It's too fast at full speed so usually use it at 70%. It's way faster than the deros at full speed.
I think you may have gotten a defective 3M (which isn't a great endorsement of the sander, to be fair). I have been using a 3M for about 5 months now and mine is much quieter than yours. Also mine stops more quickly. I don't know about the other tests comparing it to the Mirka, though.

When I look now in the US, I'm finding the Mirka runs about $742, and the 3m runs about $426... is the Mirka really worth 42% more money?
it is....i have had different sanders mirka really is nice to work with
The deros is currently 77% more than the 3m. Is it worth it for 2 extra years of mirka warranty that you'll probably utilize, and a slightly quieter tool?

Interesting. If I had a contact at 3M I'd ask what's going on
The Festool ETS EC 125/150 is also better than the 3M.

They're both 5mm orbit
@@RagnBoneBrown I'm disappointed that your 3M sander making that kind of nose and look to vibrate a lot more than mine!
the 3m does not sound right at all
I agree. Sounds like a dodgy bearing or something.
Hi, I've just posted an update to this via Instagram stories following some comments on the video suggesting it is the pad saver - see here: instagram.com/stories/ragnbonebrown/3151964799280130289/ Thanks, Keith
Both of these are too expensive. They would need to be half the price to get me interested honestly.
They're not for everyone, but they're great for people that hate sanding!
Not fair comparison, it should be DEROS II. and not the old Mirka. I love my MIRKA and Festool. I love EUROPA.
Nice Review, A couple points which may have influenced the results. I assume your review was completed with 220v (UK) which may have affected the noise / vibration since the USA reviews utilized 115v. Also the intermediate pad placed on the 3M may have influenced the dust extraction / vibration.
I really wanted the 3m to win lol... really not a fan of the Deros.
For me... its the Festool😂😂😂😂😂... cue the comments...
Meh I have the ETS 150/5 is a best, my only criticism is it is a little heavy. The fast change pads are brilliant
very good video !
Thank you very much!
mirka rulz
The best one is mirka I bought the 3m and just work for like a month do not buy this if you want a reliable tool
What was wrong with it?
£500 for a sander...we're all losers
My 3M in no way sounds like that.
