I would have used this out in the field where there's no table, or on existing upright. It looks like it works. It's better than magnets. Magnets can shift and move. Also when taking they don't prevent the steel from moving. This device would hold it in place to get all your tacks in. And the part of it doing an angle. most magnets would not give you an odd angle but you could with this device. I was a skilled trade welder at Ford. worked on the floor in maintenance and in the Fab shop. I could have used such a thing then. We used to make a lot of devices to make a production kind of job move faster. When your in the Fab shop and have a few hundred pieces to make all the same it would have been handy. Don't knock this idea unless you have a way better one. Also it looks like you could use it on wood, where no magnets would work. Thanks for your demonstration. It's good to have ideas. That's what makes us builders and not couch potatoes.

Never even mentioning that U-channel and C-channel are NOT square on the inside, thus the tool is never going to be aligned properly. For those who don't understand what I'm talking about, just look at the left and right inside walls of the "tool" he's made, they're not parallel, because this steel stock is only square on the OUTSIDE. The inside is rounded, and the walls get thinner closer to the edge.

Well, actually… if I were you, I, personally, would NOT look at the whole 10 minutes and 10 seconds you spent, watching this useless video, as well as the subsequent 30 seconds you spent to leave your comment, a complete and total waste of your valuable time!!! I mean, just look at it this way, if you don’t mind, as I promise you that looking at it from this “other” perspective will make you feel a whole lot better about “wasting” 10 minutes of your life that you’ll never get back… so, PLEASE believe me when I say this, but even though you were absolutely correct when you said, “that’s 10 minutes and 10 seconds of my life I’ll NEVER get back”, it is NOT, in and of itself, a complete waste!!! And I say that simply based on the sole fact that you, yourself, watched this video, evidently in its entirety, left a comment about this video being, in not so many words, “a waste of time”, at which point I come along, see, and read, your comment and then decide, “this crappy video, most likely, does NOT contain any usable and/or useful information AND if I cannot be, at the very least, somewhat entertained and/or learn something from this video, due to the fact that it does NOT contain any pertinent information, then this video is, in fact, USELESS, to me and others, and it is absolutely NOT worth the 10 minutes that it will take to watch this video, thereby saving ME, AND MORE THAN LIKELY HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF OTHER PEOPLE from having to sit through the whole 10 minutes and 10 seconds of this useless and shitty video!!! So, as you can see, in the end, your ten minutes save a whole bunch of other people the 10 minutes and 10 seconds that it would’ve took them to watch the video just to figure out the same thing you did… which is, this sorry ass video is NOT worth watching!!! Now, if you figure it this way… if your 10 minutes and 10 seconds, that you spent, just to find out that this video sucks, ONLY SAVED JUST 100 PEOPLE, even though I’m VERY SURE that it was WAY MORE THAN JUST 100 people… SO, I AM JUST USING 100 PEOPLE AS AN EXAMPLE, BUT EITHER WAY, 100 PEOPLE MULTIPLIED BY THE 10 MINUTES AND 10 SECONDS THAT IT WOULD’VE TAKEN EACH PERSON TO WATCH THE VIDEO EQUATES OUT TO BE RIGHT AROUND… NOW, ARE YOU SURE THAT YOU’RE REALLY READY FOR THIS, BECAUSE I THINK YOU ARE ACTUALLY UNDERESTIMATING EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS THAT YOU DID JUST BY WATCHING THIS VIDEO AND THEN COMMENTING AND MAKING EVERYONE AWARE!!! SO, 10 MINUTES AND 10 SECONDS MULTIPLIED BY 100 PEOPLE COMES OUT TO A TOTAL OF SOME… 16 HOURS AND 16 MINUTES, if my calculations are correct, THAT YOU, SINGLE-HANDEDLY, SAVED JUST 100 PEOPLE FROM WASTING!!! AND IF IT WAS A 1,000 PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T WATCH THE VIDEO BECAUSE OF YOU THEN MULTIPLY THAT 16 HOURS BY 10… SO THATS 160 SOME ODD HOURS THAT YOUR 10 MINUTES AND 10 SECONDS SAVED EVERYONE FROM WASTING ON THIS VIDEO!!! I WOULD SAY THAT IT WAS VERY MUCH WORTH YOUR 10 MINUTES, NO!?!?!?
JUST SO YOU KNOW, THAT IS WHAT WE CALL A “HERO” HERE ON UA-cam!!!
And for that, I WOULD JUST LIKE TO THANK YOU, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWABLE HERE ON UA-cam, FOR SAVING ME AND MANY OTHERS FROM SITTING THROUGH A VIDEO THAT SHOULD’VE BEEN DELETED 5 MINUTES AFTER IT WAS UPLOADED AND POSTED TO UA-cam!!! So, AGAIN… THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THE TIME YOU SAVED, NOT ONLY, ME… BUT MOST LIKELY SO MANY OTHERS!!!

It depends on the magnet! You have small magnets and large magnets that you can hardly separate from the material! The 4 middle magnets cannot be moved at all! You place a couple of pieces and tap the magnet with a hammer until you get it to the required size. Then you add two more for the opposite 90° leveling! Nothing can move, and the pipes don't have to lie perfectly because first you weld by "stitching" in 4 corners to prevent deformation and bending, and then you weld a full weld. The result is ideal! Magnets are "the law"! That is why they are used massively in all countries of the world!🧐☝👍👍👍

For the guy who simply HAS to build all of his tools that’s cool.
But a magnet would have save a lot of time.
Plus I get the spot welding deal but you are not getting any penetration at all with those short hits.
You need to stay on it a few seconds.

@@anthonyboomer641 Wow! you're a bundle of laughs, aren't you? I was responding to welding in steel according to the video. When I weld "aluminium" I use an adjustable jig. I assume you're a chap across the pond so I'll keep it simple, uppercase is a way of shouting, if you were before me and shouting you would soon be needing our wonderful NHS. Here in the civilised World, we use "Aluminium", not the butchered version "aluminum" you colonials have picked up. I hope you've found this as it has left me.....Educated.

Granted I'm only 4F certified, but why does he weld everything like it's sheet metal and going to warp. Also, just tack it in place and twist til it's adjusted, add a few more tacks and then weld it.
