in the old internet we were all anonymous so the internet was separated from real life, most of us didn't take it seriously at all. hence "internet is serious business" meme to mock those who did.
now without anonymity the internet has become just a relevant to real life, and indeed serious business, fueling people's narcissism, since it's so attached to their real lives.

I was a physics professor who lost my job and career because of the Mandates. I had been an international research superstar, my colleagues celebrated me and I was called a 'genius' by several people. But when I refused to play along with the face rag virtue signal (because it was too dumb for me by a large margin) my colleagues all turned on me and spread rumors that I had a "mental breakdown." The rapid swing from being celebrated to exiled shows clearly that they are a cult (and as they tossed my career in the trash over nothing, called themselves "compassionate", showing that they have no capacity for thought at all). I look forward to finishing the War that they started (the one that they were too cowardly to declare).

Constrained vs unconstrained. Or simply real vs fantasy.
People on the "right" tend to understand people on the "left" better because they are constantly subjected to their positions and points of view, whereas the opposite is not generally the case. All a conservative has to do to hear a differing opinion is do something as simple as turn on a radio or tv, read a news article, peak into the HR department of the company they work for. Conversely, progressives have to actively seek out differing opinions because they are constantly in a bubble of affirmation and normalization created by the institutions around them.
The left never argued for its existence. It had subversion.

@DeclanLee2001 This is very accurate, I was a lifelong moderate liberal (because I believed the MSM) until 2020 when the left went completely berserk, started watching political content from multiple viewpoints on UA-cam and I saw the full extent of the crazy and wanted no part in it anymore.
I've since abandoned most of my liberal viewpoints because I better understand the ideologies that drive the left (I was never an ideologue), there are a couple of areas where I still disagree with the right but I definitely align most with America First conservatives.
Also, a lot of us have been at least somewhat liberal at some point in our lives. (I was a rabid "resist-fist" type for a period of a few years when I was extremely troubled.) We know how they think, and we know the moral weaknesses, and/or childhood traumas, along with the toxic influences, that got us to those thought patterns.

Even way back in the 90's, on my liberal arts degree, everyone was a raging leftoid, including the faculty. Being politically naive, I was clueless about politics, had no idea what Marxism was about, but the students on my course must have detected I wasn't one of them, and acted accordingly. If I had to speak in a group, one or two would cough while I spoke, I was excluded from lunchtime get togethers, much of the work needed group collaboration but I was rejected soundly and had to be forced upon an unwilling group.. it was three years of hell, and I had zero idea why. It destroyed my confidence, I was bewildered as to why my year closed ranks. I spoke to my tutors in tears, they refused to help. I didn't even want to go to my graduation I just went for my mums sake
Only in the last decade did it dawn on my why. I was a conservative on a Marxist course, and nobody was willing to let go of the lighting rod of their hate that I represented. I have observed that almost 100% of the time, the hate and vitriol comes from the left , rarely the right yet the 'far right' is painted as the hate group.
I was a moderate non-leftist music major in a California university. I had the advantage of being an older student, nearly 30 at the time, I’d seen more of the world than most of my instructors, and my talent gave me some clout. I was married, and had no use for seeking social acceptance, so there was no way of others rejecting me since I wasn’t interested in anyone else anyway. Otherwise, I’d have had the same experience as you if I had attended at a younger age. The fine arts are full of wannabes, and you should consider it a badge of honor to have been envied by others who sought comfort in collective groups of other inferiors who didn’t make them feel bad about themselves. Everyone of superior talent eventually rises above everyone else to the point where they have no counsel or peers- to be the best at anything is to be alone, and that is the definition of being exceptional. People have envied me my whole life- college is only the beginning compared to the envy you get after actually achieving what others all went to college for and then failed to accomplish because they were sidetracked by their social distractions. Being alone and unpopular is great- you can get so much more done and don’t have to waste all this effort on losers who try to pull you down to their level.
It is important to keep in mind that, although Marxists, socialists and parasitic temperaments do flock to the fine arts in droves seeking the rewards of an artsy identity, few of them possess the discipline to develop the skills to render a grand vision, nor do they have a grand vision. The type of person who actually becomes a real artist is very different than the stereotype most people have in their heads when they envision an artist. Real artists are driven by a force of will, wannabes are driven by a force of whim.

I was once talking with a leftist online who had called something fascist. I had told him that the subject didn't fit the definition of fascism (which I paraphrased for him). He said "No, that isn't what fascism is, that can be part of it, but other things are fascism too". I said that it was literally the definition of fascism, and revealed that I was paraphrasing Merriam-Webster's dictionary, whose full definition I proceeded to copy-paste into the chat.
Oddly enough, he didn't respond after that. Couldn't imagine why not though...

Back in twenty twenty, I watched as definitions were changed in real time. There is no arguing with leftists because they always move the gold posts and refuse to take accountability.
Sounds very familiar. The terrifying thing is that these people are having the MW Dictionary and the Oxford English Dictionary change definitions.
So we're already getting to the point where for 300 years a word has been defined as X. And we know that for the 15, 25, 35 years that we've been thinking, that's what the definition is.
One day you go to show them... and the definition has been ever so slightly changed. Then next time , chanted further. Etc etc etc.
Back in 2020 I watched as they changed the definitions in real time. It's no surprise.
Two things are driving the Left, virtue signalling and the need to control. Because of their desire to be seen as virtuous, the Left consider themselves 'good' and therefore anyone not like them must be 'evil' and hence must be controlled. The need to see the opposition as 'evil' and themselves as 'good' also explains their transference onto conservatives (usually completely wrong about how they consider conservatives think).
Virtue signals themselves are Machiavellian tools to move up in the hierarchy. Which accrues power to oneself. No wonder leftists are obsessed with power dynamics.

Fatherless homes, feminist mothers, wealthy upbringing so they don't understand the real world, coddling teachers and colleges more concerned with providing the "college experience" than an actual education, higher rates of mental illness, loss of shaming culture (for their side at least) maintaining social norms, a legal system which is on their side so they don't get punished, ect.
My 38 year old brother is an extreme lefty and the proudest I've seen him in the last 10 years is when he got diagnosed with "general anxiety disorder" and given the exact same medication as all his friends were on too. He was SO excited to be finally officially part of the club and vindicated and justified in "everything" because "a medical professional is giving me medication for it, so it must be super real and serious".
And yeah I totally blame my parents for creating him, as he was treated with silk gloves since a child ONLY because he acted out, the typical way, by laying on the ground screaming and fighting, and giving him what he wanted was the only way to shut him up. And then, instantly, he'd be smiling and laughing again, 1 sec later after being given the victory, so eventually he just always got his way.
And likewise, I grew up never expecting anything to go my way, and always getting the short end of any stick, because my way of dealing with the unfairness was staying quiet and being angry within myself, always sticking to "the rules" in the hopes that "next time" the rules would finally actually be applied and I'd get the "win" for once, like was promised every time.

I think it’s not so much about common sense as it is about being disengaged from reality. Today’s liberals are a product of a system that has filled their brains with “knowledge” of the system and how to function within it. That’s their “world”. Within their world, the way they act makes sense. The problem is that their world is a constructed fiction. And they are disengaged from the reality that exists outside their construction. And they naturally hate anything that causes the real and natural world to infringe on their construct.
So do their professors

The problem with developed nations is that the low hanging fruit in terms of achievements have been taken, leaving only the very best of us able to make real meaningful progress for society. For the rest, they are left with chasing weaker and weaker causes to get behind to give themselves a sense of purpose.
This is more of an issue economic mobility. The Wests leaders have suppressed economic mobility for so long and concentrated the wealth into the rich (themselves) which has caused the lower economic status people have nothing to do and nowhere to go but stay on welfare making them an indentured voting base. Under Trump we for the first time started reversing that trend and put more money in the regular man than the wealthy via economic mobility and growth. By exporting oil we were going to take the profits from the export to pay down the nation's debt in the US.

As a straight white male I've never had any Lesbian or bisexual female friends. I really feel that they despise my manliness, as I aim to be as much like my great-grandfather as possible. I have had some gay male friends though, but we were never best friends as we didn't have enough in common.

In the process of this video I've quoted it twice to my wife, eg the research Haidt quotes discussing how folks on the left way over estimated their ability to understand how a person on the right would react to a scenario. In reality, the left was much worse at predicting how someone across the political chasm would react. Meanwhile, folks on the right said: "nah, i'm probably not that good at it" and they subsequently outperformed the left. This is very accurate, I was a lifelong moderate liberal (because I believed the MSM) until 2020 when the left went completely berserk, started watching political content from multiple viewpoints on UA-cam and I saw the full extent of the crazy and wanted no part in it anymore.
I've since abandoned most of my liberal viewpoints because I better understand the ideologies that drive the left (I was never an ideologue), there are a couple of areas where I still disagree with the right but I definitely align most with America First conservatives.

The traditional way to read the bible, is to read the Church fathers, the apostles and the Saints to understand the bible. This is an ancient tradition that lives through the Orthodox Church. And i bet on my own savings you have not read the bible this way.

I've realized that my being canceled by left acquaintances for opposing the j@b had more to do with my not using medication to "solve" the issue than my anti-authoritarianism.

I'm not a psychologist in any sense of the word, but I do enjoy observing behaviour and learning about human motivations, reactions and behaviour. Internet comment sections are great for this as people are more likely to express their true inner thoughts. The Jungian shadow archetype if you will. Just yesterday I was perusing comments about a street interview video where the interviewee said she broke up with her Korean boyfriend. A comment read that it was 'probably his fault because Koreans are more Conservative.' Tells you a lot about people.
That falls more into sociology, the study of human social behaviors.

I always steer clear of insults and talk about the topic rather than a person commenting yet they will personally hurl abuse without countering any valid points I make. That is the point I just duck out and leave. They aren't worth the time.
