It's not the risk of getting stabbed that has people not helping stop crime, it's the RISK OF GOING TO PRISON FOR DOING THE RIGHT THING.
Regarding Shoplifting / Theft... while I used to be proactive (often going as far as to chase them down the street to get back stolen goods)., today I've simply lost the will to bother.
And the reason is simple.
Today, it typically isn't a "Lone" Shoplifter but instead an entire gang of people... they're _almost_ always carrying some sort of weapon. I've personally had people attempt to assault or stab me several times in the past year or two., and at the end of the day it isn't just my safety I have to think about, but those of my staff members and public.
As such what when I started was a case of confrontation that would 9 / 10 would result in the individual paying or recovery of goods and shifted into simply keeping the whole situation as chill as possible, then getting the criminal *out* of the Store ASAP to deescalate the situation.
Add to this, while people my own age _would_ (and have in the past) stepped in to help apprehend or deal with someone getting violent... most of our staff today are either retirement age or children (I mean technically adults, but fuck me so immature, with clearly absent backbones)., and our customers have shifted from being primarily locals to foreigners; the difference again being one will jump in to help, the other will stand there and just watch something kick off before with absolute chill just going back to shopping.
Then there's the worst part of all... the Police.
Who'll come in., they'll take a statement., CCTV footage., file a report and send a letter saying "If this goes to court are you willing to appear" and "We're aware of the value of the items taken" or "We're sorry you were abused during this visit, please contact this consultation line *if* you mentally need help."
*BUT*
I could give them someone' full name and home bloody address., I could point to them outside the store.
You know how often I've seen said individuals be arrested?
Once., and that's when there was an old school (off duty mind you) Officer in the store at the time and helped me apprehend the guy.
We literally have a gang (12 - 16) 15 - 17yos who quite literally terrorise our village., they steal from all the shops., mug people., set of fireworks in the highstreet., kick in peoples doors., steal Scooters., are always high on _something_ (commonly weed, but anything they can get their hands on) ... the Police know WHO they are and they basically do nothing.
I mean FFS., we had the Police come in and provide us with exclusion notices for half of them; call 999 if they come in... so next day, they come in as a gang of 9 of them; do just that. I know ONE of them is under house arrest.
Police come (single unit)., just have a little banter with them all and leave.
WTF is the point?!
Oh, but get woken up after a nightshift last Tuesday... no joke... 10 Police Officers outside my front door banging on my neightbours door.
All because he'd left the Window open (I mean it was hot as hell) and something that set his dog off, to where one of the other neighbours had complained... but someone tried to steal my motorbike about 6 months ago., I had a single officer who was like "Well, if you didn't have CCTV footage of the inccident... get that and we can start to investigate."
I was like, "What the hell?! That's POLICE work. *YOU* figure out *IF* there's a camera that caught it, or *if* anyone in the area saw anything... why the hell do I pay taxes, for you to tell me that *I* have to do your job for you!?"
And keep in mind, without a police investigation report., insurance won't pay out to cover the damages; which I had to get repaired out of my own pocket.
It's all a fucking joke... a BAD joke.

There's a smattering of truth there. During the 60s, the West was at its pinnacle of economic, cultural influence. But was also that decade, where a culture, bored with Western civilization, gave carte blanche to the counter culture, which despised and repudiated Western culture. Hence the interest in new ageism, eastern religions, alternative social units, and free form lifestyles. We are still suffering from the fall out of that turbulent decade.
I remember how “someone" killed two petting zoo sheep’s, in Vienna, bled them out, took the meat and left everything else in the enclosure. Weirdly enough coincided with a lot of ducks disappearing from public ponds, and people trying to barbecue swans or decapitating them for fun as well as trying to run over ducklings with bicycles. All of a sudden the govt thought "we need to teach animal welfare in school"! Intriguing how this wasn’t necessary before.

I moved from Vancouver to the kootenays about 8 years ago, after 20 years there. I recently went back for a day, and it was an unrecognizable country. Covered in garbage, no English heard anywhere, and a crushing volume of density.

Currently in Gdansk, Poland for a holiday and its like being back in England back in the 90s all of the shops are full, the streets are clean and everyone is polite and European. England today reminds me of my past trip to Egypt, dirty and unpleasant.

The standard response to this is of course "NOT ALL immigrants are a nuissance", which is true, but it doesn't address the fact that _ALL people making a nuissance_ are in fact immigrants.
From playing music without headphones, to driving loud vehicles fast through the city center, to robbery and assault - it's _never_ the indigenous people engaging in any of that.
Even the ones that are not overt nuisances still increase the cost of living, reduce wages and expend plublic services just by occupying space in the country. They're ALL bad.

This is my absolute true story of visiting London in one day. As soon as I arrived and parked up, six black teenage boys on bikes kept circling my car. I realised I had put my jacket on the roof of my car as I was gathering my things to lock up. When I grabbed my jacket they left. Later on I walked passed I tanning salon whereby a black man ran out followed by a screaming woman from the shop. I asked if she was ok, she told me she had caught the man masterbating while looking at her clients. When I left London that day my car went into a bus lane as I was trying to turn right at a roundabout. A traffic fine was issued and I vowed never again to drive to London.

I did a 3 year stint in Kuwait as a teacher. Most public holidays, including Eid, the gutters of residential areas would flow red with sheep's blood. The carcasses would be carelessly stuffed into wheelie bins and left to rot in the boiling sun. The stench was awful. The slaughtering was often done in the street too. The family of the owner of the apartment block I lived in also regularly slaughtered a sheep or goat as an offering to the good luck that the income from the building brought them. It would happen outside the building, and then they would smear the blood of the windows of the ground floor. As a foreigner I would never dream of demanding they stop their traditions in their country, but when they bring those barbaric, philistine practices to my country its another story.

You should see the parks in Birmingham UK, very upsetting, horrendous, despicable and scary and makes me hate politicians even more than I thought I could hate.
I recently went back to Brum to visit my parents and took my Scouse girlfriend with me. She's from Bootle and even she said it was the most afraid she'd ever felt in an urban setting. Frankly almost the entirety of the Midlands is an "enriched" hellscape now.

I lived in Tokyo nearly all my life and the change here and non Japanese residents holding their phones out in front of them and loudly talking on speaker phone has increased so much. It is very very frustrating that now you have more and more people that just don't care to try to fit into a culture they move to and expect that culture to adapt to them. Strong ego-centrism.
A new form of shoplifting has come to my local Aldi. One must now check carefully to see that food packages have not been opened prior to purchase. Baked goods of all sorts appear to be a special favourite. Be very carful when purchasing milk or other liquid items. Be sure the tamper proof seals are intact. In the case of prepared foods (coleslaw, potato salad & etc.) lift the outer lid to be sure that the plastic sheet underneath is attached to the container. Be especially wary when you see people or their children eating while shopping.
It is simple trqnsgressions like these, which motivate people to move to areas where people share a common culture with common values. Multiculturalism is an open invitation for chaotic stress, friction, and uneasiness.

A couple of years back, sheep theft got that bad up here that the local farmers enlisted our help to make sure that the pastures were well guarded at night. And, yes, that meant by any means necessary. Some of those means were provided to us by said farmers.
The police, of course, weren't best pleased. But in the words of one of the responding officers to a particular incident: "look if he's stupid enough to jump over a 20 foot wall, make sure that there's signs up."
The "milling about" phenomenon is fairly unique to these 3rd worlders. I'm from Eastern Europe. My parents and all relatives come from serious poverty, but that kept them very busy. They always had so much work to do and they only rested on Sunday. They had to grow food, feed and tend to livestock, everything they ate was homecooked, baked, pickled, raised, etc. There were house chores, home repairs, everything that broke had to be repaired. Even when I visited my Aunt, she could barely sit still long enough to chat. I begged her to let me treat her to a spa day or a dinner out and she laughed it off. Too much to do and why waste the money? Even though it wouldn't have been that much with American dollars.
That's why I don't like the constant excuse of "poverty". "They steal because they're poor" and the like. 🙄🙄
It's a culture thing. I've lived among homeless white people as a homeless white person myself at a period of my life and we didn't steal from people, we asked for scraps at the backs of restaurants as they closed, or used some of the small amount of change we'd get a day to buy mcdonalds to eat, many of us sharing what we had so we could survive.
I was lucky and managed to get out of that life, but the people who helped me were kind even though they had nothing, no family, no home, no belongings but a few trinkets.
I won't lie, the thought crossed my mind and I don't doubt others also thought about it on dark days, but for me it was a matter of morals, if I was doing better, I wouldn't want someone to steal from me just because it appeared like I was okay. I was raised not to do to others what I don't want/can't take myself, I think that was common in our peoples a few decades ago.

I’m an American with Polish roots on my mother’s side and my wife is from India. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in that country.
On my first few visits to India, I was pretty stunned how little people got accomplished throughout the day.
LOTS of time with frivolous talking and eating to the point I’m bored to tears after a few days there.
Even household chores are divided between several women in the household and men do next to nothing except sit around, drink, bullshit, and wait for dinner.
When my wife came to the U.S., she was surprised how self-sufficient you have to be and the expectation of doing your own chores without the help of 5 family members or a maid from Nepal was a hard lesson.
There most certainly is a work ethic and drive to be productive to have things a certain way that is there in some races and completely devoid in others.

My neighbour is from a third world country. She gets a family member to mow her lawn once a year. Also her son is a convicted rapist and her other son is in care. She doesn't work but can somehow afford to send her daughter to school in a taxi every day.

One was playing youtube on phone loudly , girl in front talked on her phone for over 2 and half hours straight. Both foreign .

Oh, we have a massive problem with illegal electric bikes in Hong Kong as well, all doing this sort of shit too: riding on highways, going the wrong way down a road, cutting across traffic, jumping red lights, riding through pedestrian zones, riding at night without lights. The vast majority of riders are South Asian.
Here in Devon on the street where I live I witnessed for the first time a dude on a motorbike driving on the wrong side of the road. He was a Deliveroo (or similar) driver and by the way he kept looking around him he was searching for a house number - I was driving in the opposite direction and had to swerve to avoid hitting him. Sure enough he was very "diverse" - as diverse as the ace of spades!

Our people haven't bumped that number up to 28 million on their own, it's mostly immigrants and in some areas of our country it's already at 40% natives (as in all natives) vs 60% mixed immigrants who dont even speak English.
