      +daniel yel Awesome! You should definitely get a Fiero. They are fun cars and there are plenty of people out there who are happy to help with any upgrades you want to consider. On top of that you got my channel that shows how to do a lot of repair and upgrades. I have TONS of Fiero repair and upgrade videos in the pipes if I could only quite my day job and work on them ;) Let me know if you do get one and if you ever have any questions about it.

      Did you get one yet? I have just a 2.5L in mine and random street races while cruising is still fun and I've beaten people in a WRX STI and a Infiniti G35

    My only concern with using aluminum on steel is that they dont like eachother as being 2 different metals . You have awesome videos. Now to find a pic for a 84 clutch slave 4cyl bracket

    Thanks for the video. You saved me from putting in my front cradle bushings in backwards. I also used Rodney's aluminum bushings.

      What’s Your experience with these aluminium bushings? Are they good?

    • @mrjay1954
      @mrjay1954 Рік тому

      @@r.v.1325 I'm happy with them. Only did the fronts because I did this with the engine still in and had the car on a lift.

      @@r.v.1325for the cradle, they should all be aluminum. I wouldn’t use it anywhere else though. It’s too stiff for the engine or trans mounts. Honestly, new rubber will be fine there, you don’t even need poly. But poly is fine if you track the car, it just squeaks a lot. I used poly everywhere and regretted it. But a cradle should be rock solid, and aluminum solves a lot of issues.

    there is like a large cupped washer on the top of my rear mounts-is that supposed to come off?? do you put it back on top of the new mounts? thanks for your great videos!! I could not figure out how these rear mounts come out but you made it so easy now-other then the cupped washer that is stuck on?? Thanks!!!

    Are metal sleeves supposed to come out as well? or just the rubber centers?..I got the rubbers out,looks like the sleeves should come out as well but they wont budge

    That rubber pad on your cradle , what is it for ?
    I’m talking about one that sits on top of cradle by where ac compressor would be

    Is this the same for a 87 as well as an 88 Fiero cradle? I am not sure of the differences if any..
    thanks!

      @LostNotForgotton  8 років тому

      Thanks for checking out my video. The 88 cradle actually doesn't use bushings so this would just apply to 84-87 cradle. This bushing removal technique would be the same for any bushings on the car.

    What the pros and cons to the aluminum bushings

    • @LostNotForgotton
      @LostNotForgotton  8 років тому +3

      +Kenneth Neace The aluminum bushings will hold the engine and drive train firmer in place. When you see an engine shaking when you are rev'ing it that movement absorbs horsepower that could be put to the pavement. The aluminum bushings don't allow the engine to twist and pull like the rubber ones do. So the pro's would be faster throttle response because the engine isn't flexing the mounts and cradle and your putting all that power to the ground. The con's would be a lot more vibrations in the car. The rubber bushings absorb a lot of the engine vibrations whereas the aluminum will let you feel everything. Polyurethane is a good middle ground where you get a harder mount than rubber but doesn't transmit as much vibration throughout the whole car.

    What did you use to paint the arms?

    • @LostNotForgotton
      @LostNotForgotton  8 років тому

      +Brandon Yancar Thanks for checking out my video. The control arms and cradle were first sanded down with a wire brush on a drill. To paint them I used a simple base coat/clear coat that you can pick up at Pep Boys. After sanding everything down to strip off the old paint, rust and grease I sprayed the parts down with 11oz prep spay (degreaser/cleaner):www.pepboys.com/product/details/9865727/00374The parts were then primered with a 12oz Hi-temp Grey Primer:www.pepboys.com/product/details/9381454/00374The base coat was a 12oz Hi-temp Black Paint:www.pepboys.com/product/details/9381461/00374I wanted the parts to shine as well as have some durability so that the paint doesn’t scratch off as easy so I used a 12oz Hi-temp Clear Coat to finish it off:www.pepboys.com/product/details/9381609/00374As you can see everything looks great. I keep a detailed record with links to all the parts I bought and used for my car project so I had this information handy to share with anyone interested. For the four products listed above I spent less than $30 and it looks great and will had years to the parts life. If your parts seem to have some heavy rust I’d suggest after sanding them down to spray on Dupli-Color Rust Fix to prevent the rust from spreading before your degrease and primer your parts.

      Hope
      this helps!

      +LostNotForgotton thanks for responding, I plan on ripping my '86 apart and replacing the bushings and paint the cradle/arms with POR-15. Thank you for basically being the only Fiero teardown channel I can find on UA-cam, it's very helpful

      +Brandon Yancar Thank you! I want to share my experiences in working on Fiero's with anyone who needs it. Aside from PFF my goal is to one day be the most useful one-stop-shop for learning how to fix or upgrade Fiero's. Who knows maybe even the largest dedicated car (as in only Fiero's) video repair sourse out there. I know there is a large following for Mustangs, F-Bodies etc. maybe I'll see if there are any channels dedicated to servicing them like I do. Anyway good luck on your project. Let me know if you get stuck on something. I'll try my best to help out.

      +LostNotForgotton Now that's an excellent goal to set. I mentioned this on another one of your videos.. The Fiero forums are an excellent source of technical material, but there's almost nothing uploaded to the tube. Although I do not have a Fiero, I do have my own L67 swap project.

      Sorry for the unfavorable ads, I wouldn't want to loose you as a viewer over what plays. Unfortunately I don't control what ads play in my videos. That is set by UA-cam. I wouldn't play those types of ads if I had creative control.
