Thanks for the vid. If I'm not mistaken, you put the top plate on upside down. You can install it that way and gain additional clearance for the strut but you may have a problem closing your decklid unless further mods are made. Unfortunately, if you install the plate in its original orientation, I believe you have to eliminate the aluminum caps that come with the kit.
I can't wait till you are finished. It's going to be awesome. I have an 88 GT, I want to do a 3800 swap aswell. Thank you for posting these wonderful videos.
YES! ;) I'm currently looking for new wheels as we speak. I wanna go fairly wide in the rear (8"-9") but I've seen someone that had 9.5" wheels in the rear. This kit opens up more wheel options which is exciting.
Hope you can help me out but I seen your build videos and like what you did. So I got myself a set of coil overs like you did, but people say that they are not recommended as the sleeves are too short? Have you had issues? Or anyone running this setup.
Hi can you help me I'm from the UK and have a lovely 86 fiero gt I only run it in summer I took it to a show last week it ran beautiful parked it up in the garage came to it 2 days after and it won't start all electrics work car turns over fuel pump works but I'm getting no spark many thanks mal
Sorry another question. Where did you get the struts. I got the coilovers also from ground control but out Koni struts but didn't know you have to order them separate. Now I have to look for the struts
Omar Jaywer the rear struts were about $200 each. They use to he cheaper but since they've been discontinued the price has really jumped. I think the Ground Control coilover kit was about $250ish and you pick how heavy of a spring you want. Seems like a good kit so far. I have since installed them into the car but haven't gotten the car on the road yet. Hopefully soon though.
Can anyone help me find a coilover kit for the front of my 86 se,upper shock mount ripped off the passenger side and I think it would just be easier to swap it
I can't see what purpose the original spring retainers would serve in the new setup ... please give a follow-up on this when you start your final build. Keep up the good work and thanks for the link.
it would be great if you can convert cv axles from the fiero hubs to a porsch, audi type transmission mount 6 bolt 108mm. pattern.able to use different lengths.
Wouldn't seem hard but you'd probably have to Fab a new knuckle to accept the Audi wheel bearings if they're dramatically different than the fieros ive seen use of bigger bearings from a cavalier or something
I really wish I could have given you a good answer to that question. Unfortunately I never really got a chance to find out. After spending all that time building the car and making the videos I drove to to the DMV and got it inspected and on the way home a car pulled out in front of me and totaled my Fiero. I'm building another Fiero so it will be a little more time before I can really test it's limits.
@@LostNotForgotton holy shit I've been watching alot of your videos and to read this, that hurt. I'm so sorry to hear that man. Thank you for all your informational videos, safe travels with the new project.
The ride hight in the rear is adjustable and right now mine is set fairly low. I probably have some pics of it. The front is lowered using lowering ball joints so it has a nice stance all around.
@@streetkingcustomz2559 Yeah it should work with stock struts too. You'd just have to cut the spring perch off so the sleeve can slide down. You may also have to make sure you don't set your ride hight to low because the softer suspension may rub the wheel well when you corner to hard or roll over bumps.

The 3400 is a good alternative and is a bit less work
thank you soooo much, subscribed ;)
Could we get a tutorial on how to convert the front suspension to coilovers?
what is the part # of the specia D koni you used?
One advantage I see with this kit: room for a wider wheel/tire combo on rims with a deeper offset.

Hey bro how are you like your setup do you have custom rear a arm on your car if so did you build them or did you buy them
and in the front, what is it leading? , since the spring and the shock absorber come separated!
How do you change the clutch on an 85 gt 4 manual 4 speed
thats was so helpful, thanks, just wondering how much you got the pair, like around how much you paid for basically everything, I apreciate man

Are you talking about the piece that he's holding in 11:05 time mark?
yes
That's the upper strut mount. Those studs go though the body and hold the strut to the vehicle.
rewatched .. you are absolutely correct.
Hey what's the length of those springs?
Hey what state are you in ?

No bump stop?
Will this work on the 1988 model?
Did you notice a difference handling vs the stock setup when driven?

Do you have any pictures or anything of the ride height?

@@LostNotForgotton and. I got the ground control kit too but not the struts. Will it work with stock struts?
