Love the look, miles better than previous models. Front end is fantastic. Well done Suzuki. I like the tft displays but agree with some comments. LCD is reliable, bulletproof and looks good enough for many people.
Undeniably an underrated bike, considered getting one when they first came out, saw it at motorcycle love back then. Suzuki have never been cutting ex space age producers but they make great, well tested bikes that just work every time and for a great price.
Good review. I think the use of LCD on budget bikes makes them more robust and long lasting, even if not so snazzy. A TFT screen either works or it doesn’t (with dead pixels potentially) whereas an LCD can fail slowly and tends to take a lot of grief from the owner.
A decent honest review. I've got one and I appreciate your comments. The handling is so good I can forgive it its looks. Mines a grey one but a good horse is never a bad colour!
I think the Headlight is not too horrendous (if you compare it to something like the mt10), but it could also have done well with like a transparent screen covering the singular segments.
I don't mind the stacked headlight, its different and may also be why it was so comfortable to ride as you say with clean air flow. put a big round headlight on it and it might be like a Bandit from 90's
If Suzuki had the bike out now, in Australia, I would have bought one but they won't be here till June. So I bought the last GSX-S1000F in OZ for a song. It's magic, handles well, stops well, it's all black which is big plus, got he same engine as my old GSXR1000. Comfort is good and I like the old LCD display. Best of all it isn't wired like an F1 bike. Doesn't have a quick shifter but I can use a clutch. I rode a Yamaha MT-10SP which has all the bells and whistles and to be honest I couldn't see why spending nearly 7K more was worth.
Hm... beeing a bit harsh on the Gixxa's dash in my opinion MrFlyer.. i think it is perfect, not hurting your eyes, comfortable and easy to read in direct sunlight and darkness as well... also keeps the price waaaaay down. This is still the most affordable and stylish literbike there is. Nice vid as allways

Had my GSXS 1000f for nearly three years and ride all year round. With wax polish and XCP Rust Blocker it's as good as new (and no, I don't wash after every commute!). It's nice and quiet as you bimble along residential streets, then growls like a beast when you give it some revs. The engine just pulls from 3 thou and at 5 thou + feels like you're going into orbit. The wide bars are great for low speed manoeuvring and the mirrors actually work... I got mine with 450 miles on the clock, first service done, extras like heated grips for £8000. Goes fast, stops fast, just bin the OE Dunlops, they're made of slippery plastic.

Just picked up the 2022 model today. I agree with you 100% on point #1 naff dash and point #3 pretend camouflage plastics. As for the rest of the negative points you listed, they don't really bother me. I haven't had enough seat time to know for sure if the vibes from the engine will be an issue or not, but so far I haven't really noticed any. Heated grips would be nice, but my heated gloves work like magic and as far as stylilng goes, yes the headlight is a bit odd especially when viewed at an angle from the front, but when I think about my previously owned 2013 GSX-R750's bulbous headlight styling, this Gixxus' headlight actually looks pretty good. LOL. At the end of the day every bike has its shortcomings, but the real question one must ask is whether the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. With this bike I have a feeling the whole is defintely greater. Thanks for the great video!
I think if everyone clicked on this video its because they like the bike. So yes, the looks are subjective, but more than 90% of the clicks for this video are for the looks and the capabilities of this bike. The good thing about that LCD now for the 2025 models its coming with the new TFT screen borrowed from the GSX S8 models, wich is briliant. A very good bike for the price.
I would sooner have an old 1200 oil cooled Bandit . What’s with all this quick shift shizzle ,don’t riders know how to correctly use a clutch & gears these days . Also I find all 4 cylinder bikes & come to think of it all bikes ,get some vibes in certain rev ranges . This usually only lasts on 4 cylinder bikes for a brief period whist going through a certain revv band . This gives the impression that the main bearings are knackered on some bikes as a slight roughness can be momentary detected . Once riders realise this is quite normal & their crankshaft isn’t about to exit the crankcases ,they forget it’s there & get used to it . Good review Mr Flyer ,Suzuki’s are usually bullet proof & value for money ,if you can accept the looks of the new models . 👍
Phenomenal bike. Best engine/gear box out there. Handles like a beast. I bought a 2022 but that horrendous display just ruined it for me. It bothered me THAT much. I could not get used to it. So dim and hard to read. Eight months later I traded up to the GT+ version.
Your periphery vision is primarily in black and white. Every fancy color display goes to high contrast black on white or white on black because of this. Suzuki is to the point and, at this point, now has a unique display to the others.
I really like the looks and front end. It would look a bit bland with just a round lamp. Like you say, personal opinion.... you'll have to take a poll.....
I have one and my likes are: 1. Looks, 2. Engine torque, 3. Quick Shifter, 4. Comfort, 5. Competent cornering.6. Value, 7. Intake Snarl; Dislikes: 1. No after market parts in the US. 2. Display is a bit dim. 3. Pillion is tiny. 4. Brakes could have more initial bite. And that's it!
I don't mind the looks overall. I much prefer the update's looks to the bloated guppy look of the old "F" version. I've never been a fan of Suzuki's tendency to use fake carbon though, going back to the '90s. Makes them seem even cheaper than they are. Interestingly Suzuki had optional heated grips for the previous version, but I can't find them for this one. Not that they were particularly integrated, so no real difference going with aftermarket ones. Still good bang for buck, but Suzuki has fallen back a bit there from the era of the K5. They used to offer performance that was at least competitive in the class (sometimes even leading), just without some of the frills (mostly cheaper brakes, suspension, plastics and finish). These days they are quite a bit behind. Maybe they don't feel they can chase that level of performance without the accompanying expensive electronic nannies.
Do agree that front end is minging, however as you say, you cannot see it when you are on it... but I would have to walk up it backwards so i couldn't ever see it. :D (Obviously IMHO) Great video!
Nice ride through town as always. I love all the brick houses and buildings. Right after you followed the jaguar, I noticed that old church. How old is that building? I like old stuff and history…
You would have thought that since the new gsx-s1000gt only costs £600 & has a large TFT dash the same would have been fitted to the naked bike, talking of the gt have you any plans to test this model.
I find my bandit at 95 hp torquey as hell. More than enough power for me,150 to me is a great amount of power and especially being able to choose riding modes in between the power....compared to the basicness of the bandit,I cant wait to ride the gizza
Looks like a pretty fun machine. I a Suzuki guy through and through, but I think for the money and the power I would go with the xsr900 instead. The 2022 model even has cruise.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks for werry fast answer:) okay i will wait and not sell my z900rs. keep up good work on videos. this is the best motorbike channel.
Great video, spot on observations. I really appreciate these kinds of videos, very helpful to watch before doing a test ride so you know exactly what to look for.
Can you see it in all conditions? Does it tell you want you want without being distracting? Unless a dash is failing to do what a TV screen would do better, I have no issue. I say this as a person that thinks the new screen on the S1000GT is the best TFT I've seen and converted me on the benefit of one... because it does such a good job of simulating real clocks (Busa mini screen is nice , too). Personally, I'm wondering when we'll see a bike with no dash at all that has a bin/holder and a hard connection to display via one's own mobile device with a completely custom dash.
Great video, but I've read reviews and seen other Video's regarding this bike and most have mentioned it having a snatchy throttle more so at low speeds ie: 30mph, did you notice that?
@@TheMissendenFlyer Maybe they have sorted that issue then, I saw Motorcycling News review of the bike, just checked back and that review was 8yrs ago, the issue then has obviously been sorted, may book a test ride on one shortly now, got a couple I went to try, so I'll add the GSX to the last, learning towards the S1000R at moment though.
Great review as always, would you say it is more "mature" , or maybe I would ask, for more mature gentlemen than the MT09 , which is the same price, has much more safety features, but maybe a more holligan inducing bike? Or am i totally off the mark ? Cheers
Hey good review i bought one the greyish blue one im waiting for it to be delivered cant wait. Also might wanna check that microphone it sound broken almost
What's the deal with the 950? Is that bike able to be tuned for more power like this engine? What did they do to it to hold the power back? Can you do a review on the gsx s950
I’m thinking about changing from the Zx10r to this bike. I don’t think my style of riding does the Zx10r justice anymore. This bike has made the shortlist so far.
i really like your video's and see them all even if i am not interested in the bike. But i wish you could do something about your microphone setup to get rid of the "bad sound"
@@TheMissendenFlyer that's alright. How about the back roads. Like the narrow tight kind. I know it's a tourer but is it manageable in those kinda roads?
@@TheMissendenFlyer I live at the Sunshine Coast Australia. I lived at Aylesbury many years ago . When I lived there and had old triumphs I used to visit a bike shop in Great missendon called Bert Jefferies, have you heard of it. Bert used to disappear for a few minutes at the back of the shop but would produce anything for a multitude of old British bikes
As always a really good review. The looks of a bike can certainly make or break them, and I'm with you on the front end, not my thing and that alone would stop me buying it. A question - is it only your GoPro Hero 4 you use as the helmet cam? I'm looking to buy a GoPro and the latest incarnations seem to need specific accessories to hook them up with a mike, really pushing the price up.
I’ve done several thousand miles on my 2021 gsx S It is a fabulous all rounder ! No vibes and very quick in combination with handling beyond its price tag! Most bikes in this price bracket don’t come standard, mine has Oxfordshire which were less than £100 Looks wise, much better looking than a Goldwing car, gs tractor or wanna be false retro speed twin which btw has serious fueling issues as standard !
Glad you like the bike - not for me but everyone likes different things. No need to be rude about my bikes though, I get they're not for you. All the best.
Nice review as always… l have a Yam MT 09 sp gen 3 and the head light was also a bit challenging at first but it grows on you..thankfully. Have you any plans for a review on the new MT 09’s? Would be an interesting watch😊.
Great bike, I also own a Gen3 MT09SP such a fun, easy to ride bike. The headlight looks great with an added fly screen. If every bike had a round headlight, they would all start to look the same.
Great review as always Andy. I'm deciding between the GSX S1000 and the MT09 SP, both around the same price point. I don't think I'll be disappointed with either. I doubt I'll ever push the MT enough that the 6-axis IMU will ever come into play. With that, I'm planning to test ride both and decide on the comfort factor. Any opinions?
Hi TMF. I really enjoy your reviews of bikes. I wonder if you happen to have any spare time would you do riding gear reviews? I'm in the the market for a new helmet to go with my incoming Sena 50C. I noticed you wearing the HJC, but you probably have owned lots of helmets and still do. Riding gear, clothing, helmets, gloves etc, may help your already successful channel. What do you think? Cheers from downunder Aus.
Great round up. Thanks. My GSX 8S is also very smooth around town with good low down torque. And more than enough power for the riding in your video. However there are great deals where I live for the S1000s. The GT has taken the highlight. So tempting. Real world what would pick as your one bike for a daily ride with occasional weekend trips and back roads; the GSX S1000 or the 8S. Would you trade up?
Basically same bike as the Katana, Missy, that you seemed to like, does it get the options missing and obviously the 80s retro looks and higher finish?
Another great review. I enjoy this style , however I think you need to improve your helmet mike, it's distorted. Your competition are using something better...
I hear you on the screen, although I love it on the katana as it looks 80's futuristic. Doesn't suit this bike though. As to the vibes, this is a powerplant with decades of development behind it - it should be silky smooth.
First sunny day today but it still felt quite cold. Petrol prices still rising. TFT screen…not necessarily. 60 mph is 6th gear when I’m touring. Indeed, I don’t like the plastics but I won’t see then when I’m riding. Same with the front. Riding quality, build quality etc is much more important to me. I wouldn’t buy this bike because it’s a naked bike. Most bikes here in NL have heated grips standard as far as I know.
Totally agree, that smooth engine Suzuki have is amazing. Not keen like you say on the aesthetics of the this bike, much prefer the older style. I've got a Z900 performance edition, love the bike but engine defo not as smooth as Suzuki. Great review TMF
Good evening TMF, good review... Any chance of a review of the Z900? Or between that and the gsx s950? Quick edit .. one thing I don't understand is that Suzuki have ceased the gsx s750 which was 112 bhp and a great bike although perhaps a little dated, but replaced it with the gsx s950 96 bhp and the same weight as the 750... So they have dumbed it down, and made it more expensive?.. Be interesting to see a review on it though.
Good, fair summary, as usual TMF. Sounds like a 'nothing exceptional, but does everything good' type of machine, but do agree, those lights look hideous, but if they work.
you either love it or hate it just on the looks i prefer the looks of the old one two steps forward and three backwards they could have done much better the katana is a prime example never really took off didn't sell well not the best selling basically the same bike and more expensive liking the videos pal big thumbs up .
Unless I'm wrong it's quite a while since you've done any kit reviews.... which is surprising as you seem to have gained many jackets and helmets recently.
Well I tend to do the fashion segments now which largely cover the same ground (albeit in an abridged form). Kit reviews per se never get many views unfortunately....
The headlight doesn't look great, but it's the performance that counts. Suzuki make tough and reliable and value for money bikes - i own an SV, 85,000 km and it's not quite run in! Btw, i told you the GSXS 1000 had a vibey engine, and you didn't believe me - apology please!!
Maybe vibey, but pulls like a train... and the vibes don't intrude at 10,000 because you're already doing 110mph and you've got other things to worry about!!
I bought a brand new 2018 gsx1000s phantom, , still had the dodgy throttle issue which the dealer denied and said it must be me....needless to say, i traded it back in with under 2k on the clock....shame, was a good bike otherwise.
A little behind on the dash and the plastic looks lime the battery has leaked on it. But for the price with that power compared to the CB1000R black which Im looking at it seems like a great option.
Love the look, miles better than previous models. Front end is fantastic. Well done Suzuki. I like the tft displays but agree with some comments. LCD is reliable, bulletproof and looks good enough for many people.

You say a round headlight would look better, in the same sprit, I would prefer analog gages over a tfc digital display!
Good review TFT looks better but is nowhere near as strong as a LCD and won't last as long.
Glad to hear that - I knew someone must like it! ;0)
I have one and my likes are: 1. Looks, 2. Engine torque, 3. Quick Shifter, 4. Comfort, 5. Competent cornering.6. Value, 7. Intake Snarl; Dislikes: 1. No after market parts in the US. 2. Display is a bit dim. 3. Pillion is tiny. 4. Brakes could have more initial bite. And that's it!
You need Japanese wife, not US one...smaller ass :)
:D (Obviously IMHO)
Great video!
Nice ride through town as always. I love all the brick houses and buildings. Right after you followed the jaguar, I noticed that old church. How old is that building? I like old stuff and history…
It has been there since 1140, so quite old! Where are you based then?
@@TheMissendenFlyer I’m from California USA. Nothing that old here :)
@@ramonjrusa Aha! Yes, pretty ancient then compared to America!
You would have thought that since the new gsx-s1000gt only costs £600 & has a large TFT dash the same would have been fitted to the naked bike, talking of the gt have you any plans to test this model.
Agree 100%. The dash is the only thing that lets the bike down.
Agreed, why does the GT have so much goodness that this bike doesn't. Too me the GT is their flagship bike.
My reviews of the GT are in the can and coming soon - stay tuned!
The 2022 model even has cruise.
....so not entirely a Suzuki man than!
wold you recomend to traid in a z900rs 2022(i have that) for a gsx1000s 2023? with yoshimura kit france (black and red stickers) that is cool
No, personally I wouldn’t - but you do what your heart tells you!
Glad to be of service Pete!
No I didn't
@@TheMissendenFlyer Maybe they have sorted that issue then, I saw Motorcycling News review of the bike, just checked back and that review was 8yrs ago, the issue then has obviously been sorted, may book a test ride on one shortly now, got a couple I went to try, so I'll add the GSX to the last, learning towards the S1000R at moment though.
Been subscribed a while now and love your vlogs, ty. But could you please get rid of the scratchy flying style mic ..
Yes it gets fixed soon (ish)....sorry!
Great review as always, would you say it is more "mature" , or maybe I would ask, for more mature gentlemen than the MT09 , which is the same price, has much more safety features, but maybe a more holligan inducing bike? Or am i totally off the mark ? Cheers
The mt09 is the bigger hooligan of the two!
Hey good review i bought one the greyish blue one im waiting for it to be delivered cant wait. Also might wanna check that microphone it sound broken almost
Really? I never noticed :0P
Andy, when you get to ride the GT, please tell us about lighting at night.
It’s in the can! I can’t remember if I did or not….😬
Brilliant bike got the Acro version love mine 👍
i really like your video's and see them all even if i am not interested in the bike. But i wish you could do something about your microphone setup to get rid of the "bad sound"
Sorry - will try harder
Love this bike
Need to fix the problem with the mic sir! Hard work listening to this!!
sorry
Totally agree, the 'F' model was soooo much better looking
As always a good detailed review. Yes for an inline four it has a good sound when you accelerate quickly.
This or the GT for back roads on weekend? Also any comments on pillion comfort?
My Mrs won’t go in the back without a top box so can’t comment I’m afraid (sorry!)
@@TheMissendenFlyer that's alright. How about the back roads. Like the narrow tight kind. I know it's a tourer but is it manageable in those kinda roads?
Yes it's great!
Thanks mate. I'm on the verge of buying one.
Great review as usual Andy. Thanks for pointing out what villages you are riding through, as an expat I find that very interesting. Cheers Chris
Where are you now Chris? ….and where were you from….??
@@TheMissendenFlyer I live at the Sunshine Coast Australia. I lived at Aylesbury many years ago . When I lived there and had old triumphs I used to visit a bike shop in Great missendon called Bert Jefferies, have you heard of it. Bert used to disappear for a few minutes at the back of the shop but would produce anything for a multitude of old British bikes
Yes I've heard of Bert Jeffries - was long gone when I arrived here 25 years ago alas.....
No use a GoPro 8 I think it is on the helmet - with the media mod......
I’ve done several thousand miles on my 2021 gsx S
It is a fabulous all rounder !
No vibes and very quick in combination with handling beyond its price tag!
Most bikes in this price bracket don’t come standard, mine has Oxfordshire which were less than £100
Looks wise, much better looking than a Goldwing car, gs tractor or wanna be false retro speed twin which btw has serious fueling issues as standard !
Glad you like the bike - not for me but everyone likes different things. No need to be rude about my bikes though, I get they're not for you. All the best.
All in all, a good honest motorbike, plenty plenty fast, good comfort, looks OK (headlight aesthetics accepted), relatively good price...
I know you reviewed the gsxs750 also. How would you compare this with the 750? The same but with more power?
Correct!
Nice review as always… l have a Yam MT 09 sp gen 3 and the head light was also a bit challenging at first but it grows on you..thankfully. Have you any plans for a review on the new MT 09’s? Would be an interesting watch😊.
Nothing concrete yet but I will get to it!
Great bike, I also own a Gen3 MT09SP such a fun, easy to ride bike. The headlight looks great with an added fly screen. If every bike had a round headlight, they would all start to look the same.
@@Steve-motorcycles yes the fly screen makes a hell of a difference aesthetically if nothing else .
Missing the fashion segment again. Will you also be doing reviews of your new gear?
Yes - I don’t always do fashion segments but they will be back in future videos…
I used to have a K4 1000 and it was manic, had an SD and MT10 since and ridden an RR so it wasn’t judged in isolation
Can't wait to get mine. Looking at getting a 2023 or a 22 if I can find one which I doubt it.
I used to do them but haven’t recently as they didn’t get good views - never say never though!
Great review as ever Andy, agree with the looks at the front 👍
I love 4 cylinder bikes, especially the sound. This bike is well worth the price......Sal : )
Great hearing your thoughts on this bike Andy... soz, am slow to the party! 😀
I personally way preferred the 8s
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks Great to get an objective view. Lighter and more fun?
Yes, and looks better I think - agility is great and perfect power for the road. Sounded good too…
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thank you for responding!
My pleasure!
Basically same bike as the Katana, Missy, that you seemed to like, does it get the options missing and obviously the 80s retro looks and higher finish?
I expect it probably does - depends which you’re talking about?
@@TheMissendenFlyer you reviewed the Katana a wee while back 🤔
Another great review. I enjoy this style , however I think you need to improve your helmet mike, it's distorted. Your competition are using something better...
Thanks for the advice - there's a competition???
@@TheMissendenFlyer you don't need me to tell you that! 😂😂
It needs cruise control, in my opinion. Other than that, it looks good to me!
Good review!! I would be great if you can do do a review on the 2021 BMW S1000R as well
I love the dash not being a smartphone, who needs all the information on a naked anyway..
Great review as always TMF is there a vid on the new Honda coming soon
Nothing planned yet but I’m sure I will be able to ride it in due course!
I love your reviews!!
Thank you!
I hear you on the screen, although I love it on the katana as it looks 80's futuristic. Doesn't suit this bike though. As to the vibes, this is a powerplant with decades of development behind it - it should be silky smooth.
"No bum trauma" best review blurb ever.
Nice getaway at the end. Great bike. I don’t mind the look but those plastics!!
Whars it like to push around
Seat Height manageable?
fpr 5'.7" short arse like me!
Seat height is good - not too bad to push around.....
Quite tricky for me to cover new Kawasaki's as Kawasaki UK don't "do" UA-camrs for some odd reason....
Another great and in depth review, yes I agree with the looks, but I’m going to test ride one as for the money it looks a fast and comfy bargain.
Fair enough!
I prefer the LCD. Simpler, more reliable, and I like that it doesn’t remind me of my hellish cell phone.
Helloo. Love the content but iv often wondered will you ever do any learner bikes.
Thanks for all the awesome video's
Yes I will and I have! Thanks for watching!
He did a gsxr125 a few years ago.
Good, fair summary, as usual TMF. Sounds like a 'nothing exceptional, but does everything good' type of machine, but do agree, those lights look hideous, but if they work.
Yes you’ve hit the nail on the head - rides nice but doesn’t really light my fire personally
you either love it or hate it just on the looks i prefer the looks of the old one two steps forward and three backwards they could have done much better the katana is a prime example never really took off didn't sell well not the best selling basically the same bike and more expensive liking the videos pal big thumbs up .
Cheers Steven - and I agree all round!
Apologies ewooll!!!
I bought a brand new 2018 gsx1000s phantom, , still had the dodgy throttle issue which the dealer denied and said it must be me....needless to say, i traded it back in with under 2k on the clock....shame, was a good bike otherwise.
What a shame!
A little behind on the dash and the plastic looks lime the battery has leaked on it. But for the price with that power compared to the CB1000R black which Im looking at it seems like a great option.
