    I worked for Sysco Foods from 1998-2002, very hard and physical work, especially digging into other pallets and trying to find one item that’s on the back and the bottom of the next pallet, my biggest regret is that if I could’ve stayed one more year I would’ve had a pension 😢for life.

    A lot of people say this is a young man's game and while I do agree it really depends on the person. being older also has some advantages. I'm a lot stronger now compared to when I was younger. I have a lot more stamina and in much better shape. I am much more aware of how to take care of my body also now compared to when I was younger. I think the mental aspect has a lot to do with it also. When I was younger if the job got to hard-boil likely I would have quit a lot sooner than I would as an older man. So theoretically you would say it's a young man's game no doubt but it really just depends on the person. If you are an older person starting this job what I would suggest is to not do it for more than two or three years for sure.

    The pay isn’t good when you really think about it. You’re making $26/hr. That’s amazing to a lot of people, but for a skilled profession, that’s about average or even subpar. If you worked a normal 9-5, you’d make $52k a year.
    The reason you’re going to make close to double that is because you’re basically working a 2nd part-time job (aka your overtime). In that context, you could work a regular job, get another part time job of 25 hours, and still make what you’re making.
    Not hating or saying it’s bad, but I think people don’t realize that is the truth about trucking. Truckers don’t make a lot, truckers work a lot of hours.

    • @HebrewJerusalemPrince777

      I know a guy right now with Sysco his first year there. He’s already pushing at $115k in his first year with them. With no prior CDL history at all. But however Sysco will work the hell out of you. The good thing about is most drivers are home daily.

    • @pacman4937
      @pacman4937 2 роки тому +10

      @@HebrewJerusalemPrince777 Yeah. I hope he doesn’t think I was hating. It’s a good way to make great money and also get experience. I’m just putting out that trucking in general involves A LOT of hours and unpaid hours.
      Sysco being the biggest food service is considered the worst by many because of the equipment and hours. Home daily depends on what you mean by home. You’ll be so tired you’re just going to sleep. You have to live close to the yard, like 15-20 minutes if you want to have a life. That’s why Sysco is dealing with a strike right now. I hear 2 layovers a week gives you more rest.

    • @bruno3x_canecorso819
      @bruno3x_canecorso819 2 роки тому +7

      Yeah Sysco Robs drivers if you don’t know exactly how they pay . Each store and stop pays a different amount and if you don’t say anything they want pay you the correct way . I was working 95 hour taking home 2900 every two weeks and when they moved our yard the routes stayed the same and my hours went up to 135 making the same pay 2900 take home .

    • @pacman4937
      @pacman4937 2 роки тому +2

      @@user-ub8uc8gq7r This subject clearly is going over your head. I’m sure now you’ll lie to make yourself look good, but how many hours do you work a week? Not how many hours do they pay you for, how many hours are you actually in some way, shape, or form doing activity related to your employer?
      This man posted his honest wages. It sounds like “a lot” to people that think like you. But when you consider that he’s working 65 hours, it’s not “a lot”. You can work at almost any decent paying job, work 65 hours, and make the same money. The reason he (and you) are making what you make is because you work “a lot” of hours, not because you’re paid a lot.
      Get it? No, of course you don’t. Let’s make it simple. I tell you that I need work done at my house. I tell you I’ll pay you $2000 for a week. You’ll do it right? Now instead of me saying $2000 for the week, I tell you that I’ll pay you $20 a hour for 100 hours. You won’t do the job now, right? Oh okay.

    Worked for Shitco for three and a half years. The work is not worth the pay. Dip is ridiculous considering everything about it is based off of whether or not the router did his/her job right. The warehouse did their job right. Getting out on time. Weather. Traffic. Garbage trailers and trucks. All in all, there’s much better options for truckers to make more money without killing themselves for a company that just sees their employees as a number.

    That 3,888 number is not the gross. That’s how many cases you delivered in one week. The numbers you saw in the beginning when you where saying “ 1st day 549 2nd day 252.” Those are splitting up the stop score card. So basically each stop is a different level. The harder that stop is, the stop will pay a “type 9,type 8,type 7.” It all depends. The easier the stop the, the stop will pay “type 4, type 5,type”.
    So that number 2,667 you saw is not how many cases you delivered that day, most stops are a type 6 which is avg. so combined that whole week you delivered 3,888 cases and 2,667 of those cases were a type 6

My back and knees are in great condition. Between my Sysco pension, 401K, Sysco stock, and personal IRA and investments, my retirement income is over 100K a year with no debt. I'm not even drawing Social Security yet and I could be! Hell, I'm still saving money and investing. I'll wait for a higher SS payout at 65 or 67. Do you know how few people my age retired at 55? I'm now 62 and about 95% of my friends and former classmates are still working and many wonder if they will still be able to retire at 67. I kind of feel like I'm living the dream. I pretty much spend all my time vacationing, taking weekend trips, fishing, hunting, working out, and seeking out p*ssy!
