But if and when he leaves he will surely appreciate his next job thanks to Cisco.... Local drop and hooks and live unloads are the way to go brother... I like to work out too but over time all that repetitive movement is gonna catch up with you... Trust me.... Work smarter not harder my friend.... The pay is low for such a physical job. We were expected to safely deliver oversized packages solo anywhere from 100-150lbs. Wear and tear injuries are common. The contractor business model is designed to protect fedex and not the contractors employees. Looking back on it I don’t know how I did it for 10 years.

I did it for 9 yrs at Reinhart Boston. 9 yrs was to much running up and down that ramp. All the older drivers that have been doing this kind of work that I know, either have knee replacement, shoulder replacement. Lift gate, you put your stacks on there and you run from there. As a 34 year CDL veteran, I can tell you this is a job that will take its toll. That ramp looks OK on a sunny day, but it will pour rain, sleet, snow, and icy biting winds. Food and soda delivery is a beast. I ran OTR several years, then local LTL, which is hard, but not as rigorous as Sysco. I ended up the last 12 years with easy money. Dump trailers, sand/gravel/stone/lime. This Sysco is great for a beginner, but you dont see many over 40 doing it. This is a great stepping stone, and your attitude is good, but look down the road 10 years. That ramp and hand truck will take its toll. Good luck in your ventures.
