    Rule of thumb always check your equipment before leaving the yard I cannot stress that enough,. That should be part of your pre-trip, check for the cable that charges the battery for the lift gate, that it matches the trailer (connect), make sure you got the charging cable for your e-jack, and always verify that your lift gate is working properly especially if your going to have a different trailer everyday..

    • @fordfanatic3307

      Correct and check to make sure your ramp slides all the way out before leaving the yard. I have come across several that are damaged and won't budge an inch.

      Certainly do a pre-trip inspection on your liftgate before leaving the yard. Also understand once you pull the Electric jack off the lift from the truck (which is already loaded )into the trailer that’s when you find out different error so be open minded, Beyond just a pre-trip of opening the liftgate raising it up and down.

    I ran a beer route for a year. Those who have done it...KNOW. Some days can be 30 stops, 2000 cases 30 kegs and upwards of 200 miles. At each stop we were responsible for stocking the coolers and putting away backstock. How does Sysco compare to that? Sysco is hiring in my area and I'm considering applying.

      Sysco does have stops from as low as 6 stops to 22 I’ve seen at the highest the issue a lot of us have is that the trucks are loaded poorly I’ve had stops where stop 2 is on an oposite pallet where u have to downstack a whole pallet to get where u need to also imagine 100 plus’s pieces needed to loaded onto your walls in a truck to small for the amount loaded where u need to set several stops on the ground also I have had several dot issues that are not resolved and if u are issued a ticket u have to pay it when their is no regular maintenance done on the trucks some with over 650,000 miles on them

    I applied at Sysco and didn’t get hire cause they said come back when you get some experience. Now I got the experience and let me tell you they can’t pay me enough to work there. They work you like a dog, lol. You’re not only a driver but you have to break pallets down and unload stuff. It’s like you’re doing the work of 3 people and only getting paid for 1. Do not put your CDL license at risk for any of these carriers that have you running around like dogs cause the minute mess up they just fire you. In the trucking game, the more you do the less you get paid.

  • @arkdecanine5782
    @arkdecanine5782 2 роки тому +20

    I applied there. I got hired. I was enthusiastic about starting there. I had three years of experience. I knew what to do and what to expect. Before orientation I got a call from another food service company I applied at. I got the job there too. They pay $9 MORE per hour, overtime after 40, as many routes as you want that you can fit into the 70 hour limit. Holy shit! That choice was a no brainer. Sysco, you need to up your game. Being the money hungry bitch that I am, I hit 40 hours in three days. The next two days is $50 an hour. I try to get close to 70 hours every week. Sometimes I got to watch stupid training videos to get there or not work as hard and take a little longer at a stop, but the pay is still the same. There’s no reality defying incentives you need an accountant to figure out for you. The only thing you need to do is get the pallets of food (dry goods) from your trailer into their storage facility using a liftgate. They try to give you 24 hours advance notice before you have to get there by, but if you still can’t make it, just give them a call so they can email the customer. Work day or night, it’s up to you. You can make Sysco money working in a warehouse. There’s no point having a CDL if you’re happy with that kind of money. Warehouse work is a hell of a lot easier and has better hours.

    I went from this to soda and it both sucks. Soda you put away and stock shelves. But there’s no digging. Food service is extremely hard work a lot of 12 hour days and 14’s and quick 10 hour turns around if your a floater or do not have a route. Beverage doesn’t pay enough either but some days I have 8 hrs and now that the weather getting nice I work 12’s but weekends off. Even if the money was great it’s not good. Because you pay with your body. All your stops should be separated. Easy part is driving the truck. Down steps up steps. Basements tight coolers and freezers. Buisness know they are getting a delivery but don’t make it easy for you to get to there coolers and freezers

      It all depends on the route. You could have a route that is all local in a one city only going a few minutes between stops, or going to different towns, doing 3-4 stops in one town then driving 20 minutes or more or less to do another couple stops.

      It’s all mental bro. Like any job it’s going to b bad days and good days. I use to b a order selector at us foods for a year and a half I’m a driver at Sysco now. To me driving isn’t as physical. I came off the road before I got hired at Sysco so I had gotten out of shape but when I started it wasn’t that hard. Some stops might get tiring depending if you gotta go upstairs or if they get alot of heavy meat but overall it’s not bad. Just stay positive and motivated you’ll like it

      Yes indeed uniform is mandatory as soon as it is issued to you. Job is tough it will make a man out of you and also earn every penny. For all the hardships you will face every day you got to adapt to the situation and overcome. In the end your paycheck at the end of the week will make you forget all about it 😜
