This is THE best video about brightening grey hair. I've watched weeks and weeks and weeks of videos until I was exhausted. Today I typed in how to make grey hair shiny and your video popped up. Thank you for this no nonsense, instructional and informative video. Today, I'm off to buy that product.
Wow, thank you! I found it easy to use and it is just like coloring your hair. Just have to be careful about color transfer to clothes or your hands and forehead.
@@bigcitygirlsmallcitylivingI have quite a bit of gray streaks in my hair but still have quite a bit of my natural medium brown hair...any idea how it would effect the brown hair?
@@michelcromwell321this should work to brighten up the silver and not affect the brown strands. You can also just start by avoiding shampoos and conditioners that have color added - stick with white or clear. Clarifying shampoo can help get rid of old product in your hair that will dull it as well.
Okay so I just tried this product after adding it to my WalMart delivery order. As my gray hair is almost white I decided to try the Platinum Pearl color. Very pleased with the subtle results obtained. Gray strands are now very light, cool blonde and it seems to have very slightly lightened my medium brunette strands. I applied it liberally and left it on for about 20 minutes. No damage to my hair that I can observe. Will definitely keep using it to tone down the patchiness of my hair. Thanks so much for your honest review! P.S. To my brunette sisters out there, no this will not make you a blonde! Results are a very, very subtle glossing/blending effect.
YAY!! It was like watching a new friend put on a product, and teach me the advantages of using it!! Hadn't heard of this one yet, but tried the purple shampoos...this one is a WINNER! Thanks for sharing your experiences, and I'll try it soon!
I have light gray/white hair with some dark undertones only in back at the bottom. I use Hot White Shampoo It's purple but doesn't stain) and Hot White oil for the shine. So far so good. Bought on Amazon. I used to use the Clairol Professional Shimmering purple shampoo, with success but the Hot White Shampoo smells better. Both are great and no gloves needed. Just shampoo in. Neither stain fingers or shower. Hair doesn't look purple just shiny and vibrant. The Clairol and Shiny Silver Shine Spray found in Sally's or Walmart. I do not know if it would work on your color, but it would definitely make it more shiny. Cheers
Yes I like the silver strands shine from Sally Beauty Supply but they stopped carrying it where I live. I just use the Blond brilliance after shampoo leave in spray toner. Then finish after it is dry with clear shine spray. When I do that I just use clarifying shampoo not purple shampoo otherwise there will be purple overkill
Thank you for showing me this product and actually using it! I like thecresults. I went grey about 7 years ago and i always worry that my hair is brassy, most people tell me it doesnt. Mi quit using purple shampoo because lije you said, it dries my hair out. I will try this, i like that you can use it every 10 days, thats doable! Thanks again!
I use this in the shower. I wash my hair first and then work this in. What I like is that it foams up for better coverage. While it’s working it’s magic, I do all the other things in the shower (exfoliate, shave, wash) and then just rinse it out. 🙂
I like purple condition and the Walgreens store brand is a great one to try. I leave it on for 1 minute. Makes hair soft, and shiny and gets rid of the drab look that grey hair has.
Great video, very detailed.I have long hair, it really needs a pickup.I will buy this product, your hair looks really beautiful & healthy, Thank you for sharing this L'Oréal product.😊
Thanks for sharing this, I had no idea there was such a thing. I find my hair gets dull a brassy a few weeks after a cut, so I’m looking forward to trying this out.
So glad I found this video, thank you for posting! I was going to pick up some Fanciful White Minx but will get this instead. I really appreciate your time and effort on this!
I've had silver hair for the last two years. I feel that the hard water has given me brassy, blonde tips. I've used silver shampoo and conditioner as well as tried a vinegar rinse. I just bought this product and going to give it a try. I sure hope it works. Thank you for your review. It was very informative and helpful.
Thank you so much for your informative, no-nonsense video! I am in my fifties and finding more and more grey in my hair. It was so helpful to see your before and after photos and the process as well. I will definitely try this product! Thank you again and best wishes. 💖
Thanks for all the information; your video was really comprehensive & it asked and answered all the important questions. I'll see if they sell this product in Australia. ☺
What a wonderful, thorough review! Thank you so much for this information presented very clearly. Love your haircut as well as the color! I’m looking forward to trying the product. I currently use Softly Silver purple 2 in 1 shampoo & conditioner from Amazon about every 3rd or 4th shampoo and find it works well to condition my dry, curly hair and brighten the gray a bit. As my hair has become more gray (about 40% but a bit patchy) I’ve been looking for an all-over solution to help blend and gloss my gray and brunette strands. Based on your excellent review I will give this product a try!
I'm a natural brunette I went grey 6 years ago I find using a blue shampoo is best for me I liked the purple but was hitting my whites with a purple color the blue shampoo not a issues
You're very informative. I typed in, Can you use Clairol semi permanent hair color on white hair and your video came up. I bought the gold bottle of Beautiful Collection Moisturizing color for Sally Beauty from recommendation from a sales clerk and I haven't tried it yet but it sounds like a lot of trouble. A few weeks ago I decided just to have my hair cut instead of the highlights put in because of the expense and I asked the hair dresser about glossing and she didn't recommend it. She said it only makes your hair shiny.
Purple really just counteracts against the discoloration on gray silver hair. It would brighten those strands. You can try a clear gloss as a possible alternative that will add shine and softness to all strands.
Hair looks good. My hair is 100% white. It looks harsh & cool against my pale, warm skin (spring season). need to add WARM tones to my white hair, so it looks creamy white. Any ideas?
I am not a color expect so I would not want you to tell you how to alter the color - I know there are depositing color shampoos and conditioners that might help. I usually go to Sally Beauty or try another beauty supply store in your area for advice when I want DIY treatment
I'm trying vo5. Thank you my hair is dry. But the add a shine from toners isn't going to help that. Or every conditioner on market i tried. Vo5 for me.❤😊
I used this on my hair and saw little to no difference in shine or color. What I did notice was that my hair felt heavy and it would no longer style in the manner I preferred. My hair tended to just lay flat and in clumps. I could no longer get the volume I liked. I will be throwing away the rest of this product.
You can first try using a good clarifying shampoo to make sure you cleanse the gray hairs. Also I found a white vinegar rinse helps to remove any discoloration on gray hair - which can come from heat products, the minerals in your tap water, and other hair products that are not clear or white. I never used purple shampoos until my hair was coming in completely gray at the roots and then I cut it short so it was completely gray silver hair at that point. I am not an expert but I think the gray strands will become shinier
There are hair products with peptides and hyaluronic acid that may help. I have not used any to recommend. I know the brand INKEY list makes these products at a reasonable cost.
I don’t understand why people let their hair go grey to keep from having to color over and over & using chemicals , then they let their hair go grey and then do all this stuff to it . Why not just color it .
I know we’re all sick to death of hair dye but you’ve got such a cute face, aging well too, with brown hair or maybe other color you’d look 20 years younger.
I went grey during the pandemic stay at home period. Took me a good 1.5 years to grow out the dyed hair. Before my colorist gave a very attractive chestnut brown colour with reddish hilights. It made me look 20 years younger and I got many compliments. Friends eagerly asked for my colorist. I know she will create the same magic but I have decided to go the colour life intended. NO REGRETS. Will definitely try the product you kindly shared as well as the ones in the comments. Many thanks to all my silver sisters!
My opinion- there is nothing worse than someone ( man or woman) who colors their hair dark as they age. We have to remember that the skin tone is aging as well, so darker hair against a colorless face is just weird! Let us embarrass our grey hair and stop obsessing. Life’s too darn short. 😊😊😊😊
Maybe, but I had been coloring my hair for years and with dark hair gray roots really show - I also am trying to stay more natural/cruelty free with my hair and skin products.
Grey may be the rage, but frankly the majority of the time it’s not attractive….color on most woman is more attractive….there are exceptions to the rules of course depending on skin tone, eye color, and whether you can afford a bit of “work” done in your face……Grey is VERY aging!!
I’m still coloring mine but want to go grey. I’m not looking forward to being grey, but you can’t stop aging and you didn’t have to be so insulting! Even if you’re grey, you still didn’t have to make others feel bad.
Well, I'll turn 70 in May. I did color my hair for a few years in my 30's and 40's. I hated it. I stopped coloring and I love my gray hair. I wish it was just a little more gray. I may give this a try. Thanks for sharing.
I love this gloss for my natural, grey hair. It lasted 4-5 weeks. It makes my white so vibrant and shiny.

I found a shampoo and conditioner called charcoalite by Difiaba leaves the hair shiny with no purple tone.
Fantastic on white or steele gray😊

Yes there is that issue with the purple creating a purple tint. I think it just depends on the brand because I never had that issue.
This was amazingly helpful. Thank you.

A DAB of Alberto VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing Gray/White/Silver Blonde Hair...period.
I had no idea they still make that.
I'm trying vo5. Thank you my hair is dry. But the add a shine from toners isn't going to help that. Or every conditioner on market i tried. Vo5 for me.❤😊
Well I bought the Alberto VO5. The smell is not nice. It makes me think of a greaser from the '60s. Thank goodness it's a small tube.
Hi thank you for the info. I think I will try which colour did you choose?
I used Loreal glosser toner in Silver
@@bigcitygirlsmallcityliving thank you I cant seem to get this in the UK.

Very Nice
I am sooo tired of having to put color/gloss or rinses on my hair. I thought the whole reason of going grey was to avoid this tedious chore.
VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing Gray/White/Silver Blonde Hair
Gorgeous lady ❤🇦🇺
When you first rubbed the product into your hair, you kept going over and over the same area, to the sides of center, then you went back over it.
I used this on my hair and saw little to no difference in shine or color. What I did notice was that my hair felt heavy and it would no longer style in the manner I preferred. My hair tended to just lay flat and in clumps. I could no longer get the volume I liked. I will be throwing away the rest of this product.
What about a mix of faded brown hair and gray hair? I'm about 40% gray.
You can first try using a good clarifying shampoo to make sure you cleanse the gray hairs. Also I found a white vinegar rinse helps to remove any discoloration on gray hair - which can come from heat products, the minerals in your tap water, and other hair products that are not clear or white. My mom used a tube of VO5 hair moisturizer - just put a little on your hands and rub them together and then run it through your hair. No coloring.
I worked the area of my head that were the whitest and I wanted to be sure to cover every strand
I just use purple shampoo!
What do you mean by “brassiness”?
A yellow tinge to the hair. That comes from minerals in water, hair products, hot tools
TY.
I use toners by bleach a really nice one is aubergine dream
I will definitely look into it. Thx
I have fine white hair, what can I do?
There are hair products with peptides and hyaluronic acid that may help. I have not used any to recommend. I know the brand INKEY list makes these products at a reasonable cost.
Don’t want chemicals on my head anymore
Just naturally grey now
Totally get it! One of the best natural shampoos I have tried is by Vunella based in Florida.
You don't mention what color you used?
I used the silver toner -
Nice. Thx
Leave it in longer
Is this just an ad for L’Oréal?
No not at all. I am not sponsored or receive money for this video
Can we all begin saying SILVER? 😂
I agree - silver does sound so much brighter and perkier
Maybe it's my computer, but I don't see any difference.
I don’t understand why people let their hair go grey to keep from having to color over and over & using chemicals , then they let their hair go grey and then do all this stuff to it . Why not just color it .
Shame it's so impossible to get.
Just stop coloring your gray hair. Don't put anything else on it except maybe one or two products with no sulfates or other harsh chemicals.
Why not simply use a GOOD purple shampoo?
Actually I tried a few purple shampoos but I actually found this less drying -
Because as she said it’s drying

How about just leaving your grey hair alone and stop wasting money on needless products!
Your eyebrows are too dark and your eye makeup makes your eyes look bruised.
Sorry gray hair only looks good on young women.

Colour is expensive, time consuming and you have to always worry about regrowth. Not every one cares about looking younger. Grey hair can look great.
Grey looks awful on women
Speak for yourself!
Still boring 💤 gray
Ok weirdo.
It's GRAY hair, unless she adds highlights or dye the hair, it is what it is. I have blond hair with a lot of white Hari. I will try this
If you really want to brighten it up use the Colorista Color Spray. It is temporary but you can try it
