Oh Lauren , you are so blessed to have a wonderful Mommma. I have been doing hair since the 80`s and i so miss doing my Mommma`s hair. She passed away long ago but your vid made me tear up and smile too. This may sound odd but last thing i could do for her was go to the mortuary and do her hair one last time and have that last and private goodbye with her . Many family members actually do that i was told when i asked if i could do it. I must say it brought a comfort to me and was helpful in my process of releasing my sweet and lovely Mother. So enjoy your Mom while you have her and we can see how much she is enjoying your craft and care, plus you fed her and cearly your fellow workers kind and love her too. Her hair looks beautiful! Bravo ! And I wrote down your pre tone and final toner colors and will be using them today on my friends white hair. Thank you Lauren
I use a silver direct dye as s layered seal to the silver snd it lasts longer. Mu go to is the Joico intensity one and Guy Tang’s Titanium Shield+ crystal clear. Waercolors silver shampoo is truly beautiful for upkeep between toning. It’s not too violet or too gray.
Looks great! It’s very hard to get lay-people to understand just how complex these services are. I’m impressed with how you customized your service specifically for her needs. Nice job.
My moms hair was just like your moms and I loved how you explained everything! Thank you so much! I started following you, can’t wait to see what else I can learn! Thanks!😊
Great video. Your mom's hair turned out beautifully! I'm on week 9 1/2 and just starting my journey. I'm waiting for it to grow out a bit more and then will see my stylist for blending.
Oh your so bold.. I want to do this so badly but I hate the way my face looks when I get gray. Her Moms hair is so beautiful, the color matches her. I have been using Naturtint natural dye for 15 years now. I have psoriasis in my scalp so I’ve always used Henna back in 80s and as natural dye products finally showed up in stores I went that way. Been through many tests, Naturtint is great ., I just use equal , dye n developer and I’m able to use what’s needed for roots only. The balance of product lasts for months n months. I think a year I waited, less gray then. I have let my hair get salt n pepper and I let everything underneath just stay gray. I do roots and maybe a thin layer of top hairs if needed., but I’m scared to just let it all go. lol. Do you know if the upkeep so the gray stays so gorgeous like this is expensive. I love that purple gray color, not to insult anyone but I don’t know the names of colors. I’ve never been to a hairdresser , proper ever. I used to get my bangs cut @ a Supercuts kind of place back 35 years ago. Do they even exist still ? I can’t have all the harsh chemicals on my scalp. Ive had friends cut my hair , then I learned the do it yourself mess I made of it, and for the last 27 yrs my husband has cut my hair with a clipper. He’s not a hairdresser, but he’s artistic and does a great job. I don’t know what to do. Maybe a hairdresser would do a free consultation ? Hell I’m 64 and I have no friends who have gone gray with a hairdresser.. they all went natural many back when it started. Me a big chicken ,, squawk , squawk, squawk.
Excellent ✨!!! I use those same toner shades. The only one I haven’t tried is the 9B Sterling. I love the color payout, longevity, and yes, high heat will fade it faster. I do like the shades they fade too though.
Her hair turned out great. I have the same issue as her, except I'm fully transitioned and dont have any old color left in mine. My front, sides, and middle are white, but my back is continuing to grow in a dark gray. Im constantly battling brass in the white areas and struggling to brighten the darker gray because toners or purple shampoo tends to darken it even more or completely muds it out. I live in a small town, and the stylist here dont know what to do or how to blend it. But, they also dont want me doing anything to it myself, afraid it will ruin my transition. Lol, so here I sit hating my hair. 😂
I have had my hair burgundy then purple and I'm pretty much gray I want to do it all grey silver I only have like 3 months of Grey new growth how do I do all the rest of my hair it seems like a lot of work and how much would that cost me please answer thank you so much💜
Hey honey, I have a question I have like salt and pepper hair was a little more white in the front. What product can I use on my hair that would brighten my white more without using a bleach? Thank you and I really did enjoy watching you do your mothers hair it was beautiful.😊
You did an amazing job! The color is beautiful! My hair is very long and I've been growing it out for a little over 4 years. I still have a ways to go. I would be willing to cut some length if I thought I could get someone to get it to about the color of your Mom's. I really wish! You don't happen to live in TN do you? 😄
Loved this transition you did. I am on my silver journey and wanting to tone my hair to get rid of demarcation line. Can i skip the bleach and just use a color remover and go to toning straight?
You’re so sweet.I’m doing the same for my mom right now as I go through the gray transition. K18 is a game changer. I don’t think I would be doing this otherwise as I am not a hairdresser by trade, but do know color and chemical reactions very well as a museum conservator and I’ve been coloring my hair since I was 16. You’re very sweet and I enjoyed this video very much 🤍
Thanks for the tip about pretoning on silver hair! Did you pretone at the bowl on wet hair or did you dry it, pretone it, dry it and then color it again?
Hi. Love this tutorial. Question, did you use the 10T and 9B all over after pre toning? I always worry if it’s a white gray it will darken too much. Your moms hair looks so good!
This was great! I did this today and some of the pieces had a lavender tinge. I didn't do the last toner with the 9b formulation cause I figured it was too porous so will have her come back and do that one.
I have been to so many people to help me blend my brown hair and bring in the gray and no one knows anything or they mess up my hair. How can I find a good stylist because I would love to foil my hair at home tbut thats so hard to do on your own hair. Need to your and any info. Thank you
She is soooo far in the growing process. Plenty of hair, I'd just have cut off the color part! Lot of work for so little ends! Also ends are to fragile to even try to save!!!!
I have natural salt and pepper hair but would like to lighten the pepper to more white the top and sides are very light and underneath as well but the middle section are a darker gray blend that’s where it needs to be a lighter tone. What would you suggest.
I pre-toned with 10vv and it was so pigmented and went so violet! I had to soap cap it to get it out. I used 10T and will add the 9B next time too, because I wanted a silver and not a smokey gray.
Which K18 product are you referring to? They have several. Is this something you use to protect the integrity of the hair while bleaching? If so, what's it called? Thank you.
I understand blending etc but I’m curious if the ends were so fragile why not trim them off since there was so little left unless it’s for content purpose . Great job though
love your videos... That came out beautiful! Thanks for sharing!! Do you have videos how to do root touch up and highlights at the same time. Do you the color first then the highlights or the other way around.?
White blending tips? I only seem to hear of grey blending. Is there white blending? My hair is pure white. I was trying to do the blending instead of root touch ups all the time but all the stylists cannot get my hair to match my natural white hair. So now back to root touch ups. Any suggestions? (my hair has no grey at all no pigment left) thanks
Mom is beautiful and you helped💕. Now that she’s an ice queen it’s time to lose the hard dark glasses. Go white or anything that matches skin tone but very pale in color. Really enjoyed you thinking it through. One thing stylists don’t do and I wish they would is to leave a message where we can research products. I have white and brown hair, fragile and thin. It hasn’t been colored for 18 mos because my beautician put the bleach and foils on first thing and then left me under a dryer too long because she was serving another client at the same time. Never again. If a beautician can’t handle only one client (at 300$ ) then she’s a greedy jerk. Live and learn. Anyway, I’d like to research some of your products used please.oh, say where you are! I’d come running if you were in my city.
You can definitely do it on her. But I would do the color disruptor and remove as much as possible with a color remover before going in with lightener!
It’s a beautiful style but I’m not sure why not just trim it instead of using chemicals which only makes it more fragile. Then, instead of blow drying, why not roll it, and put her under the dryer? It’s much easier on the hair. Love the foil tip. Thx for that.
Absolutely loving this tutorial! Not that I would do it on myself, but you were very exact with explaining every single step! You were also very exact with letting us know what products you're using.
First time I see your vids Your moms hair looks gorgeous! You did an amazing job blending it in! There is a careful way to use heat. I don’t believe you need to completely avoid heat altogether. The key is not allowing the hair to be hot to the touch.
How soon will mom have to comeback for redo? Will you have to do entire process every time she goes for retouch? When it is time for retouch what color did her hair change to? Thinking yellow. Thanks so much. I am going through this process now with my grow out.
Purple shampoo doesn’t help me. Actually turns me habit more yellow. I tried it twice and same results. Any other suggestions for getting rid of the yellow. Thanks so much.
Oh your mother is so blessed to have you! I was a hairdresser in my teens and 20's and my clientele was mostly the shampoo and set age group...this was back in the 1980's! I never was the type of person that knew how to build my business and struggled hard through those years. Most of that time actually being homeless. I am now over 60 and let my own gray hair grow out and it was not pretty, being a warm medium blond naturally with some darker hair mixed in. And like your mother my very top was a pretty white, but I had patches of darker, ugly hair on the back of my head, and around my edges. Just never looked right. I tried to correct the color using what was supposed to be the lightest silvery white and it ended up looking almost black. Oh it looks OK now, but all that time growing it out just to mess it up. I wish I had not messed with it. I ended up shaving one side of my head above on ear and cutting it short in the back...At least it made it look like I was going for a look. lol I can't afford to go to a stylist. So, it's just hair and it will grow out. and I am basically homebound except for Dr.'s appointments. They don't care. I wear the same outfit every time I go. I am overweight for the first time in my life. so I figure if they don't like my clothes or hair they can start paying me to come! JK. I thought you did a great job! My Grannie loved Redkin products back in her day. She was an amazing lady that was widowed and raised her two boys and had her own salon back when it wasn't as acceptable for women to work and be successful.
I need you 8n my life. I can't find anyone in my area help with some type of blending for me to transition better. I'm just tired of fighting with home coloring.
Thank you for this! I'm going to make my hairdresser watch it. What you did for your mom is what I asked her to do for me. Instead of getting all the leftover blonde out of my hair, I have beige highlights and lost half my lovely natural silver!
Also, why did you tease the sections of the hair prior to lightening? Wouldn’t that push up some brown pieces and make it so they wouldn’t all get covered by the lightener?
@ellekay1721 it diffuses the line. I wish I could draw a pic. But it’s the difference between a straight line at the top of where you applied and a staggered line.
I don't understand why you said that k 18 needs you less time to use than Olaplex because you first have to wash it and then let it sit for 4 mins. and after it you need to blowdry. Olaplex you only need to put some drops in and that's it.
K-18 only needs four minutes to activate, the leave mask or any or the sprays. She was using Malibu C Color disruptor for 30 minutes under the dryer to remove any color on the ends of her mom’s hair.
@@danielafriedrich4487 you don’t blow dry the hair with K-18 treatments. You simply apply the K-18 in the hair for 4minutes to activate and then proceed with the application, no need to blow dry
Beautifully done, thank you for sharing! Actually it is possible to get great curls without applying any heat with BeautyFit Heatless Curls. This is a satin band to which 8 satin strips are attached. The strap is adjustable. You twist the damp hair around the satin strips. There is elastic at the end of the strips that you can use to secure your hair to the strip. Then you go to sleep and the next morning you unwind your hair from the strips. Tada, you have a full head of curls! If you have less willing hair, or want extra firm curls, spread a curl mousse or another product such as Osis Fiber gum through your hair. If you want to enjoy your curls extra long, don't use any products in your curls once they're done and tie a loose bun on top of your head before going to sleep. This way you can enjoy your curls for up to four days. If you don't have time to sleep and want instant curls, you can blowdry your hair wearing the BeautyFit Heatless Curls.
Awesome job! I want to eventually get to that color. Grays are growing out now with a semi permanent gray color….it helps to not see the new growth so obvious. Anyway, you Mom is adorable!

A good ‘Wet Set’ will hold color and give a longer lasting style.

Also, why did you tease the sections of the hair prior to lightening? Wouldn’t that push up some brown pieces and make it so they wouldn’t all get covered by the lightener?
Because i am doing a very light tease, It only pulls them up slightly so they are all still being covered ❤️
@@LaurenFrancesHairBut why tease it a all? I don’t understand the point.
@ellekay1721 it diffuses the line. I wish I could draw a pic. But it’s the difference between a straight line at the top of where you applied and a staggered line.
Where are you located
This is a wonderful video for th9se 9f us who are naturally gray, silver. Thanks you so much!
@@melodynoble4584 ok, but don't you still have more work to do when you have to wash every Client and then need to blowdry before you can start.
Great video. Your voice over is so nice & clear. All of your video was great. And you are a Fabulous Hairstylist!
Awesome job! I want to eventually get to that color. Grays are growing out now with a semi permanent gray color….it helps to not see the new growth so obvious. Anyway, you Mom is adorable!
