I was getting frustrated because I did everything you said to do in this video but my G7 wouldn't properly connect. And then I read in the comments where you told a person who was having the same issue to power off the camera and gimbal, connect the cable first, then the camera and gimbal. Worked like a charm!
So simple and yet not so obvious :) I found it out the hard way :(

Why do you need the cable exactly??
Because the app is more than enough to control your phone camera, and in case of DSLR, you need to handle it with your hand

Thank you for the compliment. I managed to pull focus via the panasonic app directly. It isn't smooth but it does the trick. I would recommend buying the focus wheel it provides a smoother and better overall experience

Hey! Thanks for this video! It was actually the reason I decided to go with this gimbal for my G7! One issue though, I also purchased the focus wheel (not the focus motor) however, no matter what I do it will not connect and the red light is always blinking. I've not been able to find any online resources to help with it. I'm using a panasonic zoom lens (14-140mm) and I've got the right cable and connected to the "PC" setting in camera. The joystick works, but also I can't hit record on the gimbal. did various combinations of turning off/on plugging/unplugging. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

Hi! First of all thank you for this video. It convinced me to get the Ronin SC and I couldn’t be happier! However, I have encountered one problem. Although my Lumix G7 works perfectly with the USB, when I press the red button either in the gimbal or in the DJI app, it takes pictures instead of videos. Do you happen to know how to change the configuration so when I press it starts recording instead oefe taking photos? Because until know I always have to press it manually on my camera. The autofocus you can control via your panasonic app directly ( not smooth) or order the focus wheel.

I saw in your previous video you had 3 lens with the g7, which lens was most compatible with using the gimbal? (Which lens was able to stay focused and be fast enough with the movement of the gimbal)
I shot mostly with the 12-60 but that was hard to stabalize and the 45mm

You could try power off camera and start up whilst holding the focus lock button.

Thank you but I think that I have used the Ronin-SC since that video, maybe 8 times. I have since discovered the wonderful world DJI Pock 2, Osmo Action and Insta360.

I just got a ronin sc for my lumix g7, and I have it balanced, but when I turn it on and check the app it says the pan motor is overloaded.
I used to have that too. I remember putting it on auto balance and it worked

It connects the gimbal with your G7. The cables provided are not compatible. The cable mentioned allows your G7 to pair directly with the Ronin allow to use some of its features whilst having full control

Have you tried the G7, the DJI R focus wheel and Panasonic cable with the Ronin SC2, which is the new version? The website only list compatibility with the DJI SC and DJI R so I wonder if the focus wheel works with the new version. Cheers.

Hi Joan, Sorry for the late response, I must have missed your question.
When it comes to the cable, I had similar issues in the beginning.
Plug in the cable first with your camera and gimbal switched off. It normally works when you switch it on.

It will allow you to control your gimbal which is the basics. Live tracking i didnt manage to get working

I would like to ask something, I bought the zhiyun m-2 for my g7 and there is a problem ' axis lock ', tried many things and i'll try more but i reallly think i'll give my zhiyun back to the shop where i bought it and would love to buy this ronin sc, can you please tell me if everything is working good with this gimbal and g7 lumix? like are all functions available and stuff like that? Offcourse i'll have to buy the cable too, thanks in advance, your videos are usefull!
The Ronin SC is the best option, it will allow you the basic functionalities. Autotracking remains a an issue

I was struggling with the same connection issue that is mentioned in some comments after following the steps, i found that the problem was the ronin Sc firmware was not updated, apparently it works with the G7 because the firmware now works with the Panasonic S5. Just by updating it the problem was solved. Thank you very much for this video, it was really helpful, i'm very happy with this combo

I purchased a RONIN SC and I now own a G7. I’m curious, the gimbal device came with 2 usb cord. I tried both and they don’t seem to fit my camera but it does fit the gimbal.
I guess my question is could you please confirm that this sounds accurate and do I in fact need to purchase a separate cord from the 2 that came with the unit in order for it to work with my camera?

For the SC it is the Cable #9 for the S i am not 100% as i dont own nor tested the Ronin S but i think you can try the #9 or this one

+Leo Ritualo with the app you can focus but it isnt easy nor effective. If you want to do a reliable focus pull you better of buying it additionally. Sorry for the late response

To answer your question, whilst I don't own the G80, it seems to have a similar remote control port on the side as the Lumix G7 and gh4, so if you buy the Gimbal you can, in my opinion connect it via cable (see vid description for links)
It is important to note that I have returned 3 Gimbals because of issues with the G7. The Ronin being the first one to really deliver.
I can't promise you the cable works but it did on the GH3/4 and G7. Other than that I really like the Gimbal

Does the pull focus only work with autofocus lens or will It also work with manual lens... for example I’m using a meike lens witch is completely manual will the pull focus motor still work?
I just tested it with my own meike 50mm and i couldnt pull the focus. As i expected.

+Downchill das gimbal ist ganz gut. Ich habe den Crane M2, Weebill LAB und Crane 2 vordem getested und die alle hatte fehler. Die Ronin SC hat kaum fehler. Die App is richtig gut and die Gimbal is auch sehr gut under 'reliable'

how many stripes does this cable have? i think i fucked up and bought the fuji one, it has only 2 stripes on the jack.

You can use the gimbal itself without the cable. I tried that but I would recommend the cable. It is just easier and allows for more control.
What measurements did you use to stabilize your g7? I've had a lot of trial and error attempting to stabilize the camera on the gimbal and haven't been successful.
Hi Gracie, I did have to do some tweaking and worked solely with a prime lens. The exact measurements I dont have. The biggest issue is the vertical axis with the plate on it. That caused me some headache. You will always get a message stating "xyz axis not balanced" I remember pushing in the app auto calibrate and it did work. Unfortunately I sold all my lumixes a couple of weeks ago, so I cant really provide a tutorial on how to balance

Which lens are you using for lumix g7 in this video
It was filmed on the Sony A6400 with Sigma 16mm f/1.4 Sony autofocus and APS-C sensor makes a better youtube filming experience. That said G7 still packs a great punch!

Hi i am really sorry it doesnt work as it works fine on my camera. Did you change the setting to usb control on your camers? At first it didnt work with me either because i hadnt changed the mode on the camera

it is impossible to control the focus from the gimbal with panasonic g7. It is not compatible, I have tried everything and it is not possible. you can only start and stop the recording
You can do it in two ways. Via the Panasonic image app which is far from ideal or buy the focus wheel.
Did you use the focus wheel?
