Looks like it'd be quite a fun drone for families to take on holiday, as it can be quickly deployed and then stuffed back in a bag. Plenty of features to play with and it's definitely a fair price for that amount of technology. Great review as always!

Excellent and nicely balanced review. I now understand I won't be buying it (especially because of the noise), but I'm quite impressed with what DJI have done here, and I'm excited to see what's going to follow. Thank you!
Great video. Informative and concise. Regarding your problems with palm landing, I noticed that your palm was not actually visible, and as this is the only way it could recognise the command, I think it might be worth revisiting.
I had the X1 for a good year or so before dji released this. My exp with the X1 was great, loved being able to get quick shots on hols. It also sounded like 1000 mozzies attacking but didn't bother me. Intrigued to see how you compare the Neo with the X1 Pro. Hover drone prices are crazy so feel like Neo will be take top spot due to affordability and SW updates etc
I did order the Hover Air Pro Max because of Video quality, obstacle avoidance, and from what I'm seeing already, superior tracking in every way. Out of the box, the Neo is vastly cheaper and beats the Hover X1, but if you want all of the features of the Neo for FPV flying, you will need additional cash about another $100+ and as of this video the Goggles 3 which is $500, so now you are closer to $800-$900 and more expensive that the Hoverair Pro Skiing bundle which is insane IMO.
@scottgivens27 promax definitely beats it in all areas but the price bracket is nuts in my opinion. I have the mini 3 pro for the professional shots and just wanted something to launch for quick shots. Hover have done a great job of raising the bar and creating a niche market entirely but I'll probably wait to see how the HW and SW perform in real world scenarios. Great review, well balanced and you pointed out the negatives really well. Definitely not for me as my Mini 4 Pro aint going nowhere. I'm sure it will be popular but not having a vertical nimble mode for social media is very strange.
Thank you. I fully expect to see DJI add a vertical mode with a firmware update, as a lot of people will want it. However that will just be a crop on the 4k footage.

As always, the best drone content on YT. I think you just save me $289+tax. As cool as the NEO is, it just doesn't seem suited for any of my use cases. Thank you!
1:50 Thank you for addressing my primary concern which is how quickly the subject can change course. In my case, the subject would be a ‘basher’ remote control scale monster truck (a tracking challenge).
I'm intrigued by this. Ruled out the Hover because it can't operate over water and I want to use it kayaking. This is half the cost, just barely at a price where I'd risk drowning it. I'm tempted to buy one, transfer its guts into a 3d-printed foldable case with floats, and see what happens.
Excellent review, to be honest the video quality really leaves much to be desired. The Hoverair X1 footage is more pleasant compared to the over sharpened video of the Neo. The rest of the features are really good. I guess DJI had to keep the cost down to use an inferior camera sensor and also not to cannibalize their higher end models.
@@SrJonAnthony Good to know. I'm not doing anything to strenuous with Nano anyway. Very tall camera platform and some panning shots over various countrysides on my travels. Thanks for the tip.
Hello, first of all thank you for your video (I liked it and subscribed). I'm currently still flying with my Sparks. But here - I think - I see the future successor. Greetings from Zurich
Looks promising but not quite the perfect travel drone just yet. I agree, in the Mark 2 I would love to see vertical video, an SD card slot, a folding design, quieter props and maybe a better sensor with some stabilisation. Would also be amazing if they made a smaller travel controller.
I hope they add firmware support to DJI Goggle Integra and Motion 2. I don't want to have to buy new controller and goggles just to enjoy FPV on this drone. I ordered one anyway because it looks like a perfect addition to my professional camera bag.
What a shame that they didn’t add vertical video feature :/ I’ve been wanting to change my drone because of that. :( I’ll wait for Neo 2. Thanks for the video!🙏🏾
Totally agree on the foldable design of the X1. I owned the X1 and used it mainly for cycling. I ordered the Pro version because of 4K and higher follow speed. I do like the fact that the Neo can be used as a FPV though. Almost canceled the order due to that. What are your thought about new Hover models? Thanks for your review. Great work. Greetz from the Netherlands.
Great review mate! Just got one, its awesome!! And my last was the equally awesome but a tad larger Phantom 4 Pro Standard. Took my cute baby itty bitty cuddly wuddly NEO down to the beach yesterday & tried both follow me & manual flight. It was very windy yet whilst drone wobbled in flight, the final video was very stable. Only problem is on my Galaxy Fold5, the manual flight controls do not appear when the phone is open. Very odd. Have to run the DJI app with screen closed. I'll drop a line to DJI. For the price, the NEO is a technological marvel & mine is going to be on me everywhere I go! DJI are going to sell loads at Christmas.
Hey. Great video. Just watching a few of these reviews for the Neo. I must say, in all of the videos that I have watched this far, the video resolution from the drone seems a bit poor. Obviously, for a drone of that size it is still great. I certainly agree with you that it is related to the sensor? Also were you shooting in 4k or 1080? Did you downscale the footage? Keep up the good work?
@@franssamuel Notice the price difference between them? In addition, I also bought a HOVER because of my trip to Japan, just because its weight does not require registration, but its toy-level flight control is difficult for me to adapt to.🤣
I assume it comes with the usual checks for fly spots, which is a problem in my home country where it's almost impossible to fly anywhere due to many no-fly zones. Same would probably be true on recent holiday locations we went to (Canadian Rockies eg). Can someone confirm it's having the same restrictions as any other drone (apart from not required to have a need to register it to fly it or report it's ID and location to authorities given it's weight is < 250g)? As always, great content coming from you and despite DJI surely providing you with some exclusivity (early versions of their products) I always find your reviews very objective as you name the good as well as the bad and even compare fairly, like in this case to the Hover competitor product!
Thanks a lot for this summary! I dreamed about the drone which doesn't need a remote controller and can follow me while running in the mountains or skiing (of course when no wind). But I still really hope that DJI will release NEO 2 asap and with SD card slot and obstacle avoidance + maybe better camera with option to turn it the same way as Mini 3 and 4 can...
Nice review of a first-time drone I've been considering. I'd assume if sensors for obstacle avoidance were put into this model that the price would increase and possibly diminish the appeal to the first-time buyer.

Nice stuff. These days, people are VERY nervous about drones. So it's really too loud for travel, but it's a cool device.
Swap for quiet props, llittle less flight time usually but not much.
Agreed
Looks like a great drone, and as always a great review. 👍
Thank you!
What a great review. Thank you.
I hope they add firmware support to DJI Goggle Integra and Motion 2. I don't want to have to buy new controller and goggles just to enjoy FPV on this drone. I ordered one anyway because it looks like a perfect addition to my professional camera bag.
Same here re: adding firmware to support DJI Goggle Integra and Motion 2. I'm not buying another set of goggles or motion controller.
What a shame that they didn’t add vertical video feature :/ I’ve been wanting to change my drone because of that. :( I’ll wait for Neo 2. Thanks for the video!🙏🏾
Very Informative! Thank you!
My first drone ! Take my money. This will sell big time.
Thinking of how it could loudly follow my daughter to her car after work. Could be a great deterrent
DJI are going to sell loads at Christmas.
great review . Thanks !!!
Can see that twins can have IMMENSE fun with tracking mode !
I don’t know what caused it but in the first sequence with you walking away, the area around the top of your head is doing all kinds of funky stuff.
Another great video Matt and thanks for the heads-up on the video quality. It is a shame they didn't equip it with the same sensor as the Mini 4.
I agree. If this drone had the Mini 4 sensor it would have been amazing! Maybe they will add it to the Neo "2".
maybe i should to waiting for upgrade version of dji neo. i hope they upgrade the camera to be better quality
Or buy hover pro version 😅😅
@@franssamuel that's a good choise 👍👍
Any comparative btw Hover Air Pro and this DJI NEO.
its look over sharpening tbh
@@franssamuel Notice the price difference between them? In addition, I also bought a HOVER because of my trip to Japan, just because its weight does not require registration, but its toy-level flight control is difficult for me to adapt to.🤣
So wait till 2nd gen?
When is lounch???
Nice video! What is the brand and model of your backpack?
Great review A++ thank yoi 😊
Excellent video … very informative
🇮🇪💚
Thank you so much!
New Hover is spendy but may be a better unit. I figured DJI would get a similar unit out since Hover Air came out.
