So glad I saw this. I see so many youtubers suggesting the "ninja walk" bent over with knees flexed. This will ruin your back. Love the tip about moving too slow. Keep up the good work.
Great advice :) I walk with a straight back slightly bent legs and roll the heel to toe like this. I find that improving your physical strength and ability has a major role in achieving the best footage possible. I held weights and practiced similar movements that id be doing with the gimbal. I can now walk about roughly 9hrs constant give or take.
When walking like a ballet dancer, stretching out your legs and letting your toes touch the ground first, results in a very stable torso while walking up right. Use flexible/'barefoot' shoes to make this easy. I've had classical ballet lessons a long time ago and 'invented' this way of outside walking. Because feet are flexible, this also eliminates higher frequency vibrations in your spinal column. After some practice, in case you need it, to me this feels like a very natural & smooth way of walking.
Thanks, i just rewatched this video since my back was killing me during a shoot, after changing my posture and technique my back was fine with no issues. The Ninja walk was killing me. Thanks for the lesson this made a huge difference for me.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PRODUCING CONTENT THAT OTHERS DONT EXPLAIN TO YOU. TRIED THIS OUT AND MADE MY FOOTAGE 10X MORE SMOOTH. I KNEW FROM THE START THE NINJA WALK WAS DEFINITELY NOT HEALTHY FOR THE BODY.
Cheers so much so basically throw all that we've been taught previously out the window 😂 I reckon it will be easier for me if i hold the angled handle Love it so unexpected 😊❤
GREAT ADVICE. Add an extra grip even to the most basic gimbals and you will see a huge difference, I bought a dirt cheap hohem for my father in law (at 81 he still shooting video (and doing post) but the shakiness was getting bad) he added a 90° angled grip now he held the thing like a Sten sub machine gun form WWII and it work wonders
Dude literally what I needed to watch today! Any tips for pulling focus when on a gimbal or setting a focal point? YT makes you believe a gimbal cam needs to AF but my red has no AF lol thanks!!
This video came in timely. Just purchased a Gimbal a while ago and I actually struggle a lot to get smooth shots. So this was definitely helpful. Thanks!
Peter Makholm I have a question. Your advice are great if you want to shoot at eye level or little below. Question is, how to avoid steps shakes, ifi want to shoot right few inches above the ground ( foe example i want to shoot awsome car and i want to move camere few inches above ground)
Hello, thank you very much for your instructions. I want to ask you about the right side handle, what brand or reference is it? Thank you really for all your videos. Greetings from Bogotá - Colombia.
These are helpful tips. Reminds me of golf instruction. 2:12 The Girp (Grip) ; ) I thought that was going to be an acronym for a special technique. I always type 'from' as 'form'
Shooting in 60p or 120p and slowing it down in post is such a good advice for smooth slow shots, I don't see it given often enough. Only downside of this technique is that it will also slow down moving subjetcs, and you might not want that. So it works well when shooting non-moving subjects or if you don't mind them slowed down
Is that an Arca Swiss plate that takes a tripod/ 1/4-20 thread on the bottom of your gimbal handle?? Where can I find that? That would be great for mounting the gimbal on/off a tripod!
Thanks a lot for the advices! It helped me a lot with my ronin gimbal at weddings. (In my spare time for the vlog i shot with gopro and small gimbal)! New friend here! Have a nice week!
Hi Peter. Love your channel since you started it, I think I was one of your first subscribers and I hope you get much more. I would love if you could make two videos. How to set your settings on the Weebil S. I sometime use differnt camers and lenses (FF and crop) and the settings are very different , but how do I know if my settings are right? the second movie is how to move your gimbel and body. when you want to do an orbit or a slider or slider with a little pan movement. Thanks again for everything you do!
By the way, 3rd tip (from preview picture) doesn't work properly on weebill S - it's impossible to control panning than! Very annoying controlling decision from Zhiyun! How would you suggest to solve it?
I really enjoy watching your videos. I own a Weebill s which I really like, lately sometimes it's taking long to turn on and off but mostly to turn it on. It's on the latest firmware version. Anything I can do about it please?
@Peter Malkholm Thanks for sharing your knowledge. The side handle in the vid look different from the one you link in your description? Can we know what is the side handle you are using in the video? I got a weebill S too...
I’m just learning but I come from a carpentry background and the same principles apply to cutting wood with a saw. Move to slow and it shows wobbles and corrections, move to fast it also shows with tear outs and wonky lines; now you move at a steady consistent pace, bang, money!
no one even talking about that awesome match cut at 2:43 - so subtle but CLEEEAAAN
I saw it! and had to look in the comments if some else had seen it!😊😊
Editing makes all the difference when someone with passion does it.
Saw that. Highlight of the whole video. Made me cheer out loud :)
Absolute magical match cut

Thanks mate. It breaks my heart every time I see the bend over walk.
lower the center of gravity improves stability, this is middle school physics, worries about back, thats why we have easyrig
@@PeterMakholmGreat video but how can we shoot a subject when its close to the ground?
Ninja walk still solves that problem I guess.
Been doing the samurai walk and it works much better than the nina walk
@@ligayaphotocinema Maybe a pole? And then you can stay upright. There are good quality carbon fiber poles on the market
Probably, the most valuable gimbal video ever!
Aweseome tipps & tricks that dress exactly some of my weaknesses!
02:45 that match cut was clean, love the video man, really helpful
Thanks mate. 😀
Thanks my new coach!

What a genius way of practicing physics🤩👊

Fantastic advice. Useful and precise. May I ask what gimbal brand you are using. I need to purchase on similar very soon.
What do you recommend for tall people filmmakers when most subjects are shorter?
Which gimbal mode would you recommend, please?
Shooting my 3rd wedding this Saturday. Will be using some of this techs. Thank you 🙏🏿
