    Part two of my Girlfriend's journey through Dark Souls III's DLC. Last week she tackled the Ashes of Ariandel, and now she's diving into Dark Souls III's second and final DLC, The Ringed City. She's already proven herself capable during the main story, but once online play was reintroduced we had to see what would happen if I Made My Girlfriend Play Dark Souls 3 again.

      @@s.bs.b5834 No they are not, he is a fair boss, difficult, but fair. If you know how to fight him, and learn his moveset (which is not that difficult), you will rarely die to him, except if you are careless. He deals a lot of damage ofc, but if you are not hit, you won't have problems, he gives you enough time to heal most of the time anyway. Hell, most of the time you don't even need finish the fight, the game kills him for you below 25% with the repost. Sometimes it's at 20 or 15%, or even at 10%, but you vary rarely will have to defeat 100% of the boss if you fight him propertly and go for the head
      The only attack that is a bit bs is the multiple lazer beams, but even that is not impossible to dodge, the lazers aren't super quick, but thw hits will kill you. If you are close enough to him, you can avoid it entirely and hit him multiple times. On top of him being stunned for a solid 10 seconds after finishing the combo. That multiple beam attach is more fair that Elen Rings's Placidusax, easier to dodge, and there is a reward for surviving it, he let's you hit him, while Placi does ever so slightly
      Midir never lets you hit his head more than thrice most of the time, but that's good balance. He has a ton of health, but it's not that bad, some Bloodborne bosses like Kos or Laurence easily have more health, nobody complains about it. And if you know how to fight him, you will reduce that health bar little by little, continuosly, you won't spend tons of time suffering to get a hit

      It's really not as difficult as people make it out to be if you fight Midir head on like she did instead of going for the legs. A lot of people are used to avoiding the head of the dragon in Souls games and guides like Fextralife's threw a lot of people off by recommending attacking the tail (the _worst_ possible strategy that makes the fight like 10 minutes longer and twice as frustrating). If you just keep bopping him on the nose and keep him always directly in front of you, it's easier than plenty of other fights in the series imo. His attacks are very well telegraphed and don't require any twitchy reflexes. The hardest part is just being patient honestly, since his attacks deal so much damage and he has so much health. Not to say it's an easy fight, though! Beating him with 11 estus is a huge achievement!

    • @Erick-tv8oq
      @Erick-tv8oq Рік тому

      @@michaelhenry3234 There’s this thing with Fextralife and other informational gaming channels recommending the absolute worst way to fight some bosses. In Elden Ring, I fought Fire Giant’s second phase head on, and thought it was a pretty fun yet unusual fight because the boss requires you to basically position yourself the best way possible at all times, both to avoid and deal damage. Then I heard discourse around the internet calling the healthbar way too big, saying the fight took forever and the boss sucked, and I asked myself “Was that the same boss I fought?”. Then I watched a guide that told players to literally wack his healthy foot for ten minutes, and suddenly everything made sense.

    • @michaelhenry3234
      @michaelhenry3234 Рік тому

      @@Erick-tv8oq It really is bizarre. It really depends on what strat (good or bad) that particular player did, since a lot of boss guides are pumped out as quickly as possible. If they did a mindnumbingly dumb strat but they still got the kill, it goes in the video.

      @@EllaKarhu Because the highest viewed guide on UA-cam tells you to and the highest viewed kill spends half its time dicking around under him. A lot of the other guides on the front page are much newer too, so when the Ringed City was new Fextralife was pretty much the only guide. I imagine most people tend to google a guide when they get stuck, and if the guide tells you to do something, you do it. The most baffling part honestly is that they go for the tail, which is obviously not intended judging by how janky it is.

    I am glad I found your videos tbh. Your and your gf's positive vibes are contagious. This video inspired me to finally pick DS3 after Elden Ring and Sekiro and also do a strength build (which I tried but dreaded in Elden Ring). Finished the base game with the great club and the DLCs with Smough's great hammer. Honestly this game was a lot of fun and overall great. It felt good to have something easier than the other 2 fromsoft titles I mentioned. Looking forward to DS2 and DS1. Unfortunately I can't play Bloodborne and Demon's Soul since those are console exclusives and I only play on PC.

    5:55 Dude, that cut of "Red Sun" over it was beautiful though! whoever edited that, SKILLS.
    7:57 ...she never found the firekeeper's outfit, huh? i mainlined that.
    seriously, GJ at 13:30. I'm REALLY not one for DS PVP, but that must have felt like quite the win.
    16:08 I love how they finally made a crossbow look awesome in a DS game, and what a let down it wound up being for me when i got to finally use it. that said, Gael may well be one of my favorite boss fights ever. two battered souls in the sands of a world worn to death by time... gets me teary thinkin' about it.
    19:16 right when i was about to ask if she would do monster hunter with a hammer. so i had to double check the channel, she played IG in Iceborne, huh? (my second weapon after LBG, entirely for a Kinsect only challenge run)
    BEAUTIFUL WORK on Midir. SWEET damn thats a beautiful clear. well deserved chuggin of estus like a first timer at S and O!

    Amazing work, the editing in this 2 parter is absolutely astounding, those music choices especially never cease to amaze me. As previously, no recommendations this time, but here are some hopefully entertaining dark souls 3 anecdotes.
    DS3 Pvp is so much fun! She got a nice taste of it, but one thing she probably didnt get to see is all the wacky shit people have figured out. Most memorable is glitched weapon swapping, where a person swaps their weapons without swapping the moveset. Imagine you're fighting someone, and they suddenly swap from a dagger to a freaking zweihander, but they keep swinging it like it was a dagger! xD.
    If the prior video gave me mild PTSD from my SL13 run, this was a bomb going off near my ear. I remember Daemon Prince forcing me to restat from my well rounded dark hand build to a full faith build, coz the dark hand did so little damage. The catch? most of their attacks in phase 1 and 2 would 1 shot me, and I still had to conserve my faith usage and be very careful where I use my spells.
    Half life got cheesed by charging great sword attack, over and over.
    Then there was Gael, whose only real choice was a poison dagger and poison and toxic could. So I would run around the cloud, barely able to see the boss, while trying to make sure that this jumpy asshole stays inside the poison.
    And last but definitely not least, midir. I still havent beaten him of my memory is correct. The best strat I have is using the dragonslayer axe and lighting resin and bundles. Oh, one thing I forgot to mention about the SL13 run- I was not allowed to upgrade weapons. Soooooo i was fighting him with a +0 weapon, and I think 5 resin and 20 bundles, which let me tell you, is not enough for the whole fight if you use it every chance you get. So yeah, you have to partion the resin, make sure to hit his head otherwise the fight takes like 30 minutes, and take very good care of your stamina, because remember, you have no endurance since your stats went into strength for the weapon and health for not dying.
    Anyway, ranting over, and when I started doing some speed running practise it was satisfying to absolutely wreck him with lighting infused twin-swords.

    Fun fact: The game uses different models for the actual boss Midir and the "environmental hazard" Midir. Boss Midir is actually quite a bit smaller. He's also the only late game boss you can reasonably beat with only your bare fists because the poisebreak reposte deals fixed damage rather than being based on the damage and critical modifier of your weapon.
