25:20 For reference, Japanese has two main alphabets (three if you count kanji, but that's not relevant here). There's Hiragana, which is the blue box, and Katakana, which is the red box. They both contain (mostly) all the same sounds, just represented with different symbols. The difference being that Hiragana is used for regular Japanese words, whereas Katakana is used for foreign words, or Japanese words which may have a foreign origin. For example the Japanese word for taxi is タクシー which is literally just takushi, taxi sounded out using the Japanese sounds. This is an English word that Japanese people use, so they write it using Katakana. All of this is to say, that the symbol for he (へ) is pretty much identical in both Hiragana and Katakana. Certain fonts may try to differentiate them slightly, but yeah, this is the GBA we're talking about. So it's not in fact the same symbol put there twice, it is actually two, near identical (in this case, actually identical) symbols, with different usages, from two different alphabets. Hope this helps the confusion.
One of us... One of us... One of us... Congratulations, welcome to the cult! Watching someone go from literally zero knowledge, to ultimately tackling one of the most technical applications of the process was a joy. Also kind of hilarious, given that while you were working on this Blisy released the E-Reader event to get CHANNEL Jirachi in Emerald... but the important part is the journey, right? 😅 My favorite bit was when you realized how much fun it really can be. That addictive pull towards competitive shinies, is what ultimately lead to my journey for 5IV Shiny Extremespeed Zigzagoon. Somehow GameFreak inadvertently made the game even more fun, just by writing some bad code. Seriously excellent video, I feel like a proud Papa seeing Gen 3's content revival through glitches & RNG. Keep enjoying Pokemon with your epic voice.
I’m glad that we as a community all have the collective sense of dread at Bank closing eventually. It’s ultimately what pushed me to diving into RNG & ACE, and I am so glad I did. A box and a half of Shinies later and I’ve finished getting what I wanted on just my English Emerald. My Japanese copy is going to be fun to delve into.
Shiny locking is such a toxic trait of Pokemon and hopefully someday its removed. Having access to so many cool Pokemon each generation only to find out several are locked from thier shiny forms is very discouraging and enraging
i quite literally went through this EXACT phase of addiction to rng manip and grinding thru blisy and jefe's videos and getting help from sleipnir to get ALL of the pokemon you went for then did the exact same stalling to go for specific iv's and ribbons. it's so funny that a decent amount of ppl do this, not just me and you.
I went to Sleipnir because I had glitched my game by trying to RNG manip before My Pyre. I had softlocked myself because Archie wasn't able to be talked to at the top, meaning I couldn't get into Magma base to continue the story. Thanks to Sliepnir I managed to create another ??? egg and after some attempts managed to glitch into the Magma Base to continue the story. From there I was able to remake the egg by using the trade Horsea and resetting until I got the egg from the Pomeg berry glitch. Fun times, excited to go back to Emerald RNG manip once I complete the Arceus dex lol
For someone very, VERY dumb like me, do you have any advice to be able to understand these things and do them :c...? I just barely understand that clicking on the legendary Pokémon to open the fight and it not being shiny means you gotta reset and try again and again on that saved file hundreds of times until you get it shiny...and that's it, I have YET to see a video that explains IVs and EVs and all of that jazz to me in a way my dumb brain can comprehend 😭...and I just wanna be the very best, like no one ever was...but feel like a total failure reading all these fans understanding everything about this and "glitches" and mumbo jumbo BUT me...
The only problem i can see with RNG manipulation is that every single pokemon encountered on the same frame has the exact same PID, ability slot and nature and I'm not sure if pokemon will make pokemon with identical data illigal in the future seeing as how they made cloned pokemon untransferable in BDSP. So to be safe you might want to do this with multiple save files and TID/SIDs.
28:00 all of the data actually survives. While it seems met location is scrubbed when you check in Home, checking the same Pokemon in PKHex actually shows the exact met location from Gen 3. All the data is still there, for some reason they just dont show it for Gen 3 and 4.
The spiraling at the end as you go even further for all of this on all of your pokemon... yeah, I know that *exact* experience. My partner has been working on building a shiny living dex for a very long time, occasionally chipping away at it and picking up new pokemon they get. This means that they need some of the very obscure ones, including a shiny manaphy. Well, I happen to own a copy of the original pokemon ranger from my childhood, and I never did the manaphy event in that game. So I restarted my save file, played through the game, and did the manaphy event to get a manaphy egg to transfer over to a gen 4 game. I'd also recently picked up a copy of pokemon diamond, so it was time to begin. I'd done some RNG manipulation in gen 5 before, so I had a bit of experience. I knew I needed to RNG manipulate the egg I picked up to match my TID/SID, but since I was already going for a shiny, why not *also* manipulate my TID/SID so that I could get one with perfect IVs? So I did. Manipulated the egg, manipulated my TID/SID, hatched a shiny manaphy with perfect IVs and a good nature. But I mean, I'm in gen 4, and it would be a shame to pass up collecting all of those ribbons... So I traded it over to my childhood copy of pearl and beat the E4, got all of the day of the week ribbons from Sunnyshore, got the manaphy to max happiness for the footprint ribbon, and fully EV trained it for the effort ribbon. Then there were the contests. Did all four ranks of all five contest types to get all 20 ribbons, and I believe it's the first time I ever completed a master rank contest in gen 4, since I hadn't played the games since my childhood. And then the money ribbons. Spent a few hours repeatedly rebattling the rich couple south of Hearthome city to afford those. Also the first time I ever entered the ribbon syndicate, which was neat. Then I transferred the manaphy over to soul silver to beat red and get the legendary ribbon. Thankfully, manaphy isn't allowed into the battle facilities, so I was finally done. But gen 6 has some more ribbons... Took it to the Kalos E4 after transferring it up, beat all of the super training minigames with it, and fed it enough sweets for it to love me in pokemon amie. Again, thankfully no battle maison. But, heading over to Hoenn, there's more contest ribbons. Already had all of the master rank contests unlocked, so went through all 5 of those with the maxed contest stats I already had from gen 4 (with a little help from pokeblocks since sheen disappears in gen 6), and got all 5 of those ribbons, plus the contest star ribbon for having them all. And the Hoenn E4 as well. Gen 7 is significantly easier at first, since manaphy is banned from the battle facilities, so just needed the E4 ribbon from Alola. Except that manaphy *is* allowed in the battle tree normal battles in USUM only. I... don't have those games. But I *cannot* hand over a manaphy to them that's only one step from being perfect. So I got Ultra Moon, and I'm gonna be playing through it to get the one last ribbon I need. I don't own any Switch pokemon games and I never plan to, so the rest of the ribbons are on them to get once this manaphy is in their Pokemon Home. I'm just one step away from them having... one more pokemon in their living shiny dex. Hooray!
May I ask how did you manage to hatch the Manaphy as a shiny, did you do RNG manip to make the PID of the egg to shiny match the TID and SID of the game you were going to trade the egg to after receiving it from Ranger? Because Manaphy is shiny locked so if you received the egg with a PID that shiny matched your own TID and SID then when it hatches it shifts over one frame to avoid being shiny so can't actually hatch the egg to be shiny from the game you received the egg from Ranger on. I know this because I used PKHex to alter an eggs PID to shiny match the OTs TID and SID but kept being non shiny until I then realised the PID can't shiny match those before hatching so you need to get the egg from Ranger without shiny matching so it freezes the PID to whatever it is then trade it to another game with the TID and SID to shiny match it when it hatches because that PID which is frozen from your original game doesn't shift and then presto it hatches and shiny matches your second game's TID and SID. So did you hatch the egg shiny on the OT game or did you have to then trade the egg? Because I really wanted the info of my shiny Manaphy to read it was from Ranger event instead of saying came in a link trade but thought that this was impossible because of the shiny lock. Thanks in advance for any info!
You are AMAZING. Say, any specific reason you don't want to play the Switch Pokémon after having such a beautiful mind that understands these Pokémon game things? It even has some pretty cool games as well like Metroids and Mario Wonders and so many other fun ones (don't have a Switch because I'm poor but always watch videos of others playing and I imagine it's me)
@@alexandernewton4592yeah anyone who has actually hunted for a shiny manaphy or has at least watched a shiny manaphy hunt knows that this person is full of it or it's not legal. Don't know why they typed this wall of text to get fake clout from strangers.
To explain the "capital and lowercase" characters: In the case of the vowels (ア, エ, イ, オ, and ウ) and the y sounds (ヤ, ユ, and ヨ), the small versions are used for sounds that don't have their own characters. For example, the sound "sha" is made of シ (shi) and ャ (tiny ya). So you write it シャ. The smiley face is "tsu", and the tiny version is used for glottal stops, which are kind of hard to explain but are written in Latin letters as two of the letter, like in "zutto" (ズット). The accent marks are called diacritics, by the way. Mostly they change the consonant associated with the sound ("ha" to "ba" or "pa") And of course, all of these apply to hiragana as well. Katakana in particular has some interesting uses for the tiny characters in loanwords, to create sounds that normally don't exist in Japanese like "ti", but that's a whole nother can of worms. But yeah, if you don't read Japanese, it's basically a game of matching pictures, and the tiny ones do not help. Kudos. Edit: The OT of Tanabata Jirachi is, predictably, "Tanabata.".
I would explain glottal stops as a small pause before Te next consonant to then enlongate the sound, hence they are romanized with a double consonant (zutto, nekko, bikkuri, etc). But other than that, it was a nice explanation.
Wow I didn’t think my limited coding knowledge would help me understand this slightly. That’s incredible this game has been decoded on SID for determining shinies.
About the Scar/Viol snack legends: another possibility is that the shininess of the legendary could've been determined when you get the snack, and Gamefreak just wanted to save our sanity, given that the snacks you get are already rng based
I would have been willing to believe that if they hadn't already shinylocked literally every possible legendary in SV, and then some. They just couldn't be bothered trying to make static shiny encounters work.
This is the reason people plays emulation and ROM hacks... Nintendo pushes fans further from the fun of playing which hacks keep for the fans sake. They truly, masterfully shoot themselves in the foot. It's like they want us all to straight up hack and stop using their official stuff.
you’re the GOAT, I tried a shiny-only Emerald run and gave up when I couldn’t get the obligatory Castform to be shiny 😂 sharing your story is really motivating and cool
Just like Papa Jefe and im a blisy, you managed to take a topic I didn't think could last 35 minutes and make it interesting for 35 minutes. Let's hope we can get your subscriber count to the funny number soon!
Seemingly, PKHex also doesn't have a special flying Pikachu distributed by Japan's national airplane company among their travellers in its database. Side note: one Pokemon that will definitively become extinct is the special Pichu with a weird ear that cannot leave the Soul Silver/Heart Gold cartridge it was downloaded to. EDIT: 25:36 the reason why it's one symbol, two codes is that the red page is for katakana and the blue page is for hiragana, and that symbol (he) looks the same in both due mainly to it coming from the ame kanji through the same simplification; in manuscript and higher definition fonts they do look slightly different (katakana looks sharper), but portable Pokémon games use fonts with los pixel counts.
i just started messing around with rng manipulation in pokemon ruby after seeing blisy and papa jefe's videos. i was able to get my shiny torchic in about 3 hours but i haven't tried for anything else yet. im very reassured that you were able to take these gen 3 shinies and transer them up. that's the part i'm really unclear on (i mean, im pretty unclear on all the other stuff too lol) but i wanna be able to run around w my shiny blaziken in sv. i've never been one for shiny hunting, even though i admire people with the dedication to hunt shinies over weeks and months, mostly because there wasn't a guarantee the stats would be any good. but now there is! this video was great motivation to stick with it!
I just want you to know that watching this video caused UA-cam to recommend me videos about endangered real animals and now I can't separate the other guy's voice from the concept of extinction.
Really cool video! I just started gen 3 RNG myself, after being exposed to it in BDSP using a camera to get all the Pal Park legends shiny. I’m currently on a MUCH less complex RNG journey, on my homebrewed 3DS with a virtual console copy/ROM of Fire Red. I’m aiming to complete my Shiny Legendary dex in Home which requires over 50+ hunts. Most of them are RNGs in gen 6 and 7, but the few I cannot get with those games are being done via RNG manips on Fire Red and spamming tries at Dynamax Adventure raids. So far I’ve RNGed Deoxys once, but now I’m aiming for “decent” stat spreads with maybe 1 or 2 IVs I actually want and the rest random, all while maintaining my SID, for consistency. After I finish my last 3 Deoxys forms, it’s on to Navel Rock for Lugia and Ho-Oh, and back to the Seafoam Isalnds, Mt. Ember, and the Power Plant for the birds. Only then, will I be able to charge into Cerulean cave and pick up my shiny Mewtwo. To get my non-Go shiny Mew and Jirachi, I’ll probably look at Blisy’s eReader events and the process for injecting them into my homebrewed 3DS for completion on my VC version of Emerald.
The Deoxys will not show as legal in pkhex if you catch it in japanese emerald because the ticket for deoxys was given out before emerald released in japan so if you want a "more" legit deoxys you would have to catch it again in your english version
I caught shiny Mew, Latios, and Ho-oh in Japanese emerald through RNG manipulation ( I used the event distribution cartridge (R4) for the old sea map, Eon ticket ( had to record mix with Japanese Ruby)and the mystic ticket). Still need to catch shiny Lugia. I chucked a masterball at Mew. Latios took me a few tries but I got it in a timer ball.I caught Ho-oh on my first attempt at the last possible turn with a great ball when it was paralyzed and about to struggle itself to death.
Dude, imablisy and Papa Jefe were pivotal to me learning RNG manipulation in Gen III! I'm currently playing through a Hardcore Nuzlocke of Emerald, with the end goal of a Living Form Dex, and as a kid, I actually had a Shiny Mudkip in Pokemon Ruby. So I started off my playthrough my manipulating for a Shiny Mudkip, for nostalgia's sake! MY PURPLE MUDDY BOI LIVES AGAIN
Hey my pronouns are they / them but I appreciate the shout out nonetheless. Fun to watch your journey of rng and eventually become obsessed with the 6 iv shinies. Always cool to seem more people learning to enjoy it. Not to plug myself further, but you can get a channel jirachi through one of my e reader events as well if you so pleased lol. Maybe you and jefe can get those 6 ivs and battle irl, you’re both in the same area lol.
For the "be"(べ/べ)character, the difference between the characters is the "blue" page is hirigana and the "red" page is katakana. They're different alphabets that represent(mostly)the same set of sounds. The different alphabets are used in different contexts, and the characters for the same sounds often look similar(か/カandり/リ) with the differences coming from the calligraphy used to paint them. In short, べ and ベ look and sound identical, but they are technically different characters from different alphabets, and that's why the game recognized them as different
Curious what you’re going to come up with for generation four because I’m doing a cute charm glitch playthrough of platinum and I’m currently soft resetting to get shiny origin form Giratina.
I ended up doing the shiny Japanese mew hunt myself a while back. You can use English characters to nickname it but only get 5 characters to use, so I named mine “T r u c k” In honor of ridiculous playground rumors everywhere.
Very funny the part of explaining how the Katakana and hiragana work on the GBA never saw that before. Those are for specific sound you want to sound for the name like for example: Figari (Fu+Lower case i)(ga)(ri)
I've never shiny hunted in my life and only ever gotten one shiny back as a kid in pokemon Y, I can't imagine the dedication people out in to get them.
30:08 dude RNG manip is indeed addicting. once I caught my first shiny, which was Swablu like 4 days ago using Pokefinder on Pokemon Emerald, I was hooked. Got a shiny Rayquaza today as well.
The OT of the Tanabata Jirachi is "Tanabata" but in Japanese. Also thanks for making this video. It's clearly very-well researched and nice to have all the information in one place. タ = ta ナ = na バ = ba
I will never understand people who are so against people doing rng manip and not cheating the mons in, by the sound of it it still sounds like it still requires effort and is satisfying when you get that right
in bdsp you can get shiny rayquaza, darkrai, the regies, and a lot of others because they arent shiny locked. but it takes a lot to get them edit: you can also get shiny acrceus (take a look at nokimon's if found a shiny but didn't have a masterbal sieries.
I guess he's covering Darkrai and Shaymin in a future episode since if you weren't able to get the items for their events, you weren't able to encounter those pokemon at all. And he seems to be going over all the games on a new save file so he wouldn't be able to get those events. And I guess the beauty of these videos is seeing the beautiful mess that is glitched Pokemon games. So we can most definitely expect to see the tweaking glitch used (if done on Diamond or Pearl) or the DNS exploit used (if done in Platinum). Either way, it should be a fun video.
"why not hack / cheat device" etc is a concept people cant get their head around. Following this RNG process is just ...interesting. Its like people taking apart a toy and putting it back together
While going through all my old Pokémon games I found a Shiny Hoopa in Alpha Sapphire that I had forgotten all about! (That I don't think is legal! 🚨) Also Shiny Shaymin is coming to Pokémon GO next month with Sinnoh Tour! ✨🦔
I think what kills me about doing all of this is that shinys are so easy to get in modern games (to the point they dont even feel special anymore), but legendaries are shiny locked so this is just the only way to get some now without just cheating. It is very funny
25:15 this character べ ベ _be_ (pron. “bay”) is different because the one is in _hiragana_ and the other is in _katakana._ That's literally the only difference.
I myself shiny hunted the hoenn dragon legends for fun with the eon duo in HGSS and rayquaza in sapphire. I have now started moving them, and my living dex to pokemon home
This is frankley amazing, its sad that febuary will be the final death of any ability to save your old pokemon... this is complicated as it is already. (Pkmon red to silver or gold, from gold to i dont remember which 3rd gen, from 3rd then to 4th gen, from fourth gen into bank, from bank to home etc.
This wouldn’t have been so bad if Pokémon HOME hadn’t required a subscription to transfer Pokémon from Bank. (I genuinely did not care what people say about Bank going free, it literally did not make things easier one bit. You still paid to transfer via Bank, just in a different way.)
@@ShockInazuma they dont want you to be able to transfer your pkmn. they want you to have to catch new every time. i honestly want to see a video taking a pkmn blue charizard all the way to scarlet and violet. i saw a vid a while ago for up to 7th gen... but 8th 9th and 10th? gan have become a mess to get to. this will be the death of a beautiful thing
If you want to get Jirachi, there is a code that changes the roamer to any pokemon you want. If you change it to Jirachi, you can also manipulate the pokemons PID to be shiny whenever it is encountered. When you catch Jirachi, you can then use codes to change catch game, encounter type, and pokeball. I did this to catch the 3 Johto dogs, modifying their data to make them appear as purified shiny shadow pokemon from Colloseum.
Even knowing Japanese Kana, the GBA letters are somewhat hard to decipher, so I feel bad for people who don't know anything, it just makes it so much harder for them to even comprehend
the "lowercase" symbols: ツ -> ッツ arent really the same character, but smaller, they change the way consonants or vowels are pronounced. so the ツ is pronounced "tsu", but the smaller version means that you add stress to the consonant that follows. so カ ka becomes ッカ kka and the degree and quotes after other symbols change which related consonants you use. in linguistics h-b-p as a grouping and d-t-th (dentals) all share enough similarities in the way our mouths move to be grouped together. so in japanese haハ baバ and paパ look the same, minus those small symbols this is without going into the two alphabets/syllabaries japanese uses, which are essentially the same sounds, but one used for native japanese, and another for loan words, onomatopoeia, and other stresses/exclamations/difference in familiarity
It also made me sad/happy that feebas was introduced in the newest DLC. I had a legitimate shiny one and it was just super neat knowing i had a digitally restricted commodity.
@@dayvonlouis5187If I Recall right, Officially, it Was making Sure legendary Encounters were Consistent across Games, and Cutscenes, because Canonically, the Legendaries aren't Shiny. They started Shiny locking Before Pokemon GO was A thing, So that Wasn't why.
Hi! Japanese language student here. The OT name on the JPN cartridges *is* Tanabata! Furthermore, that character that tripped you up exists in both indexes because it exists in both alphabets in Japanese. However, the alphabets are used for different purposes, and are encoded differently as such, even though they may share a singular character.
These journeys are fun. Ive been reclaiming past pokes from games that were stolen or lost when i was a kid. Somehow had pokemon from gen3- the 3ds generations for me and all my brothers. Even coliseum i had data! Got the sid/tid from external sources(Im sorry!!) And ive been reclaiming what once was legitimately obtained, and only replicating what is known by memory or the natural progression of the story, and all imperfect (not making any competitive ivs or shinyness, they will be as natural as possible) Its cool me and my brothers get to have all our old pokemon again with the real trainer data attached.
I just found your channel a couple hours ago, fittingly enough whilst watching your Indigo Disk 100 sandwiches video I caught my first Tera Raid Den shiny. It is a shiny Palafin, it’s been like two hours and I’m still shocked. It is on my Violet save file, where I don’t have the shiny charm.
Shiny Charm doesn't actually affect the Shiny rates for static Pokemon / Tera dens Shiny Tera dens are slightly more rare than base odds (I think like 100 more than the base)
@@HBQV Was that Shiftree from a singleplayer tera den or an online one? If it's singeplayer then you're really lucky to get 2 shiny raid dens in such a short time
RNG manip is something I’ve only ever scratched the surface of but when I got a shiny Arceus in BDSP doing it, it was SO satisfying. Genuinely one of the most fun things that’s happened for me in Pokemon in the last decade would ironically be in those otherwise terrible remakes haha
I have 2 shiny Celebi because my siblings had them from pokemon go but they quit so I transferred them over to pokemon home lol (Shiny Celebi was also an event in pokemon go) Edit: btw I love ur video I’ve been a fan sense you made your channel
Darkrai and Shaymin are huntable in brilliant Diamond, the only two things locked in that whole game are mew and jirachi. Even Arceus can be shiny hunted. Excellent video though Trails!
haha your regi process reminds me of playing ruby when I was a kid and using dive to find a relicanth for the regi quest and literally my first encounter upon diving was a shiny one. I lost my mind lol
I'm literally doing this; and somehow the algorithm knows; except with every Pokémon on the Dex. I've completed numbers 1-493, and now I'm doing Gen 5 BWB2W2 All shiny... or as many as I can get. Turns out the only Pokémon you CANT get in Gen 3 are Espeon and Umbreon unless you have Colosseum/XD, never mind them shiny, so I had a few extra shiny Eevees to use in Gen 4. Anyway, looking forward to any RNG manipulation videos!
Sometime in the early 2000's, I convinced my dad to get me a Colosseum Bonus Disk off eBay. It cost like $20 or something and I paid him back. I'm very glad I held on to that one, I had no idea what a good investment it was at the time.

'but jirachi is in goooo' that research is driving me insane trying to complete it; i'm still making 10 best buddies...

Samme. I didn't have a single best buddy before getting to that stage...
They took mine they took my research off both my accounts mine and my sons and we're really mad because we were almost done
Don't necessarily need multiple save files, since you can change the TID/SID with the glitch pokemon. But yes, you can do this as an extra precaution
They can't do that because of Emerald seeding. Every pokemon in that game has thousands of clones across the world.
@@ulqi They can do that because I heavily doubt Pokemon gives a fuck, which is sad.
@ulqi I’m pretty sure they could just limit it by only making hoenn exempt
To explain the "capital and lowercase" characters:
In the case of the vowels (ア, エ, イ, オ, and ウ) and the y sounds (ヤ, ユ, and ヨ), the small versions are used for sounds that don't have their own characters.
Mostly they change the consonant associated with the sound ("ha" to "ba" or "pa")
And of course, all of these apply to hiragana as well.
@@aikou2886 Pizza is a good example of glottal stop in english, and the spelling happens to follow the same rules as romaji
this is so hard to understand
@@FatalBurnz ironically, japanese spelling for pizza doesnt have double consonant (ピザ instead of ピッザ)
Just to clarify, the actual name of the thing with 'tsu' is 'gemination' - glottal stops are something different. The rest is really useful info.
I was fortunate to have found a Black2 copy with a shiny jirachi on it. It has since made the transition to my switch.
That's literally the motto of the Switch games, right there. "Pokemon: We couldn't be bothered."
@@Zyart I mean, considering they had less than a year to focus all development on SwSh or SV, I'm not surprised at this point.

At least Spiky Eared Pichu is in Super Smash Bros Ultimate :)
i just started messing around with rng manipulation in pokemon ruby after seeing blisy and papa jefe's videos. i was able to get my shiny torchic in about 3 hours but i haven't tried for anything else yet. im very reassured that you were able to take these gen 3 shinies and transer them up. that's the part i'm really unclear on (i mean, im pretty unclear on all the other stuff too lol) but i wanna be able to run around w my shiny blaziken in sv.
i've never been one for shiny hunting, even though i admire people with the dedication to hunt shinies over weeks and months, mostly because there wasn't a guarantee the stats would be any good. but now there is! this video was great motivation to stick with it!
I just want you to know that watching this video caused UA-cam to recommend me videos about endangered real animals and now I can't separate the other guy's voice from the concept of extinction.
My bonus disc from childhood calls to me like green goblins mask. One day I’ll rng it but not today lol
I forget how confusing Japanese can be at times, I couldn't imagine going through this not knowing any of the characters. Great video, btw!
24:17 for the Tanabata Jirachi, the OT name you inputted, “タナバタ”, means Tanabata lol, you’re inputting the name of the event just like the others

The Deoxys will not show as legal in pkhex if you catch it in japanese emerald because the ticket for deoxys was given out before emerald released in japan
so if you want a "more" legit deoxys you would have to catch it again in your english version
Was resetting for Shiny Azelf in Ultra Sun while watching it, just got it and caught it
Nintendo needs to make their next console have emulated versions of these games on the estore that are compatible with home

I guess he's covering Darkrai and Shaymin in a future episode since if you weren't able to get the items for their events, you weren't able to encounter those pokemon at all. And he seems to be going over all the games on a new save file so he wouldn't be able to get those events.

Shiny Locking Pokemon is objectively the stupidest thing gamefreak does

the "lowercase" symbols: ツ -> ッツ arent really the same character, but smaller, they change the way consonants or vowels are pronounced.
so the ツ is pronounced "tsu", but the smaller version means that you add stress to the consonant that follows. so カ ka becomes ッカ kka
and the degree and quotes after other symbols change which related consonants you use.
in linguistics h-b-p as a grouping and d-t-th (dentals) all share enough similarities in the way our mouths move to be grouped together.
so in japanese haハ baバ and paパ look the same, minus those small symbols
