    I'm so excited for reptiles finally becoming legal in Norway in a couple months!
    Do you have any tips on where I could get a snake in the Scandinavia area, possibly have it shipped over here?

    • @JossersJungle
      @JossersJungle  7 років тому +15

      I didn't know they were illegal, and I live right next to Norway! But it's so exciting! I know that there are some big reptiles expos in Sweden, it might be worth a trip? I haven't gone to it myself, but my boyfriend has, and he said it was a great expo.
      Sometimes expos really are worth travelling for, I went to the one in Hamm, an 8 hour drive, but it was so worth it. I know some great breeders here in Denmark, but I'm not sure if they ship overseas. Which kind of snake are you thinking about getting?
      If I know anyone with the one you want, I could talk to them and see if they ship overseas! :-)

    • @eyyriin
      @eyyriin 7 років тому +6

      Jossers Jungle They're not legalizing many species but luckily the ball python is, so I am really hoping I can get one. I'm for sure gonna be looking out for expos before considering having one shipped, thank you!

    Went to a reputable breeding establishment in OKC to buy my three month old Blue-Eyed Leucistic (Butter Mocha). Happy and healthy when I bought her and she’s still doing great. Just got past the settling-in phase! She was used to eating live rats but she took to eating frozen/thawed almost immediately. Already wanting another one! I’m in love with my little Leena.

    There is a beautiful spider ball at my local pet shop. However, his head moves upside down at times. I did some research and heard it's a nuerological disorder. Should I still purchase him to give him a good home? Or is this a bad disorder where the only humane thing to do is put him to sleep?

    I have problems with my snake eating Frozen thawed it's just seems like she's just uninterested in it and we make sure that it's warm or the temperature that it needs to be do you think it could just be that she's in too big of a container because she's in a 40-gallon and she's not even a year old yet

    • @joshuanewbeck6226

      Get one per tank, the readings wont be accurate and only one snake will have the right conditions.

  • @leeguerrero1283
    @leeguerrero1283 6 років тому

    Another reason why they may not eat, if they came from a rack system or terrarium, is if the terrarium is too big.
    Ball pythons like small spaces. They’re use to small rodent burrows and termite mounds. Small spaces are where they feel the most comfortable.

    Me and my S/O are preparing to get a ball python sometime in a couple months. I really want a white ball python morph ( so like Ivory or BEL) but they are way above my price range :( I won't go over 250 and thats still a stretch for me for a snake cause i find the whole over priced morph stuff absolutley ridiculous. There are plenty I like within the price range, I love the albinos and yellow snakes but he hates yellow and refuses to get a yellow ball python....

  • @lucusrose

    How do you feel about buying from Pet smart/ Petco? This is commonly referred to as a "rescue" purchase to prevent the snake from dieing due to poor care in store or by someone who has no idea what they are getting into.

    • @windwolfgirl
      @windwolfgirl 7 років тому +6

      lucusrose If its that bad that it could die you can speak up to a manager with your knowledge and ask to adopt it for free and mention its unacceptable to dell an animal in this condition, dont be mean to regular employees as it is likely not their fault. If you dont succeed and it contineus to deteriorate do this again. if you buy it youbfeed the demand they'll just get another one and treat it exactly the same.

    • @JossersJungle
      @JossersJungle  7 років тому +5

      lucusrose I have no ecperienxe with Petsmart/Petco, but in general I'm not fond of pet stores, as the comment below explained if you buy you feed the industry with money. An industry who doesn't know much about the animals and only have money for interest.
      But again, I don't know petsmart/petco at all, so I can't give proper advise. Thank you for asking and I hope you find a good answer to your question! :-)

    I'm torn between corn snake and ball python. I love both and just want a snake period, but I'd prefer a snake that I could handle (and would actually move) and is a good frozen eater. Which one would be best for a 20 gallon. I saw one at a pet store (I know I need a long) and it looked to be an appropriate size for both, but I want the snake to be comfortable. Please, somebody answer me. I've been researching both every day for hours since the beginning of August, but like I said, I'm torn between the two.

    • @JossersJungle
      @JossersJungle  6 років тому +2

      Both of them, in my opinion, will need a tank bigger than 20 gallon when they reach full size. For ball pythons a minimum of 30 gallons should be fine, and for corn snake the bigger the better. Both of them are good eaters and do tolerate to be handle. But the ball python is more prone to stress from handling and to be picky eaters. If you want to go 110% safe I would go a corn snake, but if you do your research and are prepared to not handle every single day, a ball python is also an good choice :-)

    I've done a good amount of research and bouncing place to place, but one thing still confuses me about Balls, how many times a month do you feed them?
    I've seen every two weeks or once a month for adults.
    I just want a better clarification so I'm not starving a potential baby... I would feel so bad as a new owner if I did end up getting a Ball.

      Depends on your snake some get fat at a 2 week interval, some need food every 3 weeks, and some have a sweet spot with a BIG meal once a month. Juveniles however eat weekly at 10-15% of their body weight.

      Buy a thermostat place the probe directly on it. Plug the UTH into it, set desired temp. (I recommend buying a temp gun as well) now snek is no burned.

    How probable is it when I buy a ball python that already eats frozen thawed, that I some day will have to feed it live? I really want a bp (I've been researching for a while and I'd get it in a year) and I'm fine with f/t but I wouldn't want to feed live. I know that sometimes they refuse to eat and people say you have to feed live then. For any experienced people, how probable is that? Can I have a bp without ever having to feed live?

    • @startheangel9760

      If you buy them as babies it would be easier to feed them frozen thawed because babies just eat fuzzies that gradually get bigger when the snake ages

    So when ball pythons are going through a hunger strike, do you have to just wait it out and attempt to give food every week or is there specific things you can do to encourage eating again?

      Shanetasia Lucas When you say assist feeding does that mean you force the mouse inside his mouth?
      In my own opinion I would never force feed unless it was my absolute last choice. It could lead to stress. I have two ball pythons who won't take dead right now and we offer them dead before feeding live everytime. Hopefully they will switch over to dead soon. Hope you find a solution. :-)

    I'm planning on getting a Ball python when I'm 16, my mom isn't too happy about it because she says they're stinky, can kill me, or will escape. I try to reason with her saying that it won't kill me because they're poisonous, and won't Escape for they like to hide from the outside world like me, I don't know about the stinky part. But I have one question, how many times should I feed the ball python? I sometimes hear it should be once a week but i don't think that's healthy enough.
    Respond if you can, thanks :3

      Not poisonous** whoops

    • @JossersJungle
      @JossersJungle  6 років тому +5

      Once a week is the recommended. You have to remember their digestive systems works much more different than ours, and if you feed too often/speed feeding you are in the risk of getting it obese and a lot of health problems comes with that :-)

    • @JossersJungle

      Yes I think they are. It's always good to have the papers, knowing where your snakes comes from.
      And in that case you need to sell it, you propably won't get the right price for it if you can't prove what genes it has.
      Just in case, always a good idea :-)

    Hello ball python lovers! I'm the proud mom of a pastel female who has never turned down a meal. I feed her fresh killed ( I do this) humanely once a week. She is about to transfer to small/baby rats off of mice. Does anyone fresh kill rats for their snake and do you have any advice because I know rats can be a bit more aggressive than mice

    • @JossersJungle
      @JossersJungle  6 років тому

      Hi Kathryn
      How great to hear she is doing so well!
      I prekill my rats the same way I prekill the mice. One blow to the head to knock them out and the a quick break of the neck. With rats it can become increasingly difficult as they grow bigger. They are very strong so you need a lot of power to proper break the neck.

    Do you think using a heat lamp or light bulb isn't good for ball pythons?

    • @JossersJungle
      @JossersJungle  6 років тому +4

      I wouldn't say it's not good for them, but it can be a stress factor. Ball pythons, in the wild, live underground in small hollows and only come up at night to hunt, which is why I believe the source of heat should be underneath the terrarium, preferable located under one of the hides, so the ball python can feel safe and warm :-)
