Never liked or wanted a snake. Overheard a video of yours playing. Fell in love with your voice. Started watching your videos. Now want all the snakes.
My girlfriend loves snakes and while I've never had a deep interest in snakes her attitude and joy about them is rubbing off on me. So thank you for this informative video
Mine seems to love being handled. He'll come to the door of his cage where I open it, and wait for me to open the door, climb out himself, and often climb onto me. Some snakes are quite curious and not bothered by people and new environments, meaning they do like handling. That doesn't mean he "loves" me though, I certainly accept that it isn't due to emotional attachment.
I love handling snakes and they explore and travel from hand to hand. I enjoy the squeezing feeling when they are holding on and switching hands because it makes me feel like they trust me and it's also like a little snek hug 😍🐍
There’s almost no such thing as an aggressive snake, theyre only acting in defense. Unless it’s a 16 foot long king cobra a snake isn’t going to pursue hurting you, it will only do things to persuade you to leave it alone because it’s scared
I know this has nothing to do with this topic but does anyone want a snake/reptile but they can't get one because your parents are scared/don't like them or other reasons or is it just me?🤔
I love your voice it sounds so soft and soothing, especially with your accent, I can listen to you all day! I also love how gentle and graceful you are when you handle your snakes, they are all very beautiful. I just found your channel yesterday and so far I've already watched about 6 of your videos! I'm in love!
Your videos have helped me so much. I’ve had my ball Python for about 6 months and he’s been the sweetest. Your videos gave me the courage to interact with him and now I have more confidence with him.
This was so helpful! I just recently bought an albino ball python. I love him so much, but I will admit I’ve been a little nervous while holding him. Seeing how calm you are with each snake really helps, thank you for making this video. I’m going to go hold my baby right now.
Or their like oh heres a tiny snake the size of a large earth worm HOLD IT even though you already told them you didn't want that species in the first place let alone to hold one that's tiny as heck.
I feel like you have a fantastic understanding of this species, when you said handling them is for our pleasure not there's, really makes sense . Thank-you for your content
I'm watching my friends ball python while he's living in a dorm room (sadly he can't have Rock with him) I'm new to the world of caring for reptiles and your videos helpinh me alot thank you
I was worried about handling my snake wrong (I just got a corn snake, he’s a year old), but this vid made me realize I was handling him correctly thank you so much! I love how informative your videos are, subscribing rn tbh!
I'd love to see a more in-depth video on snake emotional cues! Learning that tongue flickers mean curiosity was really neat, it'd be useful to know stress signals too
I made a fairly bad choice of buying my snake only a month after my dad passed and because my brain was so out of sorts I haven’t been able to properly interact with her, I’ve kept her fed and her cage clean + sitting there sort of talking to her but I haven’t handled her and I feel so bad, I was scared but none of that is an excuse so im finally starting to handle her, she’s so sweet too and I hope I can get her used to me so we can mend our relationship a bit
Well done with excellent advice. What I learned as a volunteer at Phoenix Herpetological Society from their reptile manager is that snakes that are active after being picked and removed from their enclosure have shifted to "flight" mode. That is, anxious to find an escape from handling. This is why they're often very happy to "escape" back into their enclosure.
So important to support as much of them as you can, their spine is very fragile and especially heavy bodied snakes like your boas. Noticed the heat light in the enclosure, may l suggest you put it on top of the enclosure, lve seen so many snakes with terrible burns if the heat globe is not in a caged cover. Snakes do not have the same senses as us to know they are being burnt and l would hate to see this happen to your snake.
Only thing about this video I don't agree with is in the beginning she states that snakes aren't pets and are only being handled for a person's own amusement which is far from the truth because as we both know our snakes love to come out of their own choice with free will and that's not for a person's amusement but for a snakes mental stimulation and physical exercise and the opportunity to express itself instead of sitting in an enclosure all of the time !!!
That's exactly why all of my snakes are allowed to free roam and to be able to explore and express themselves and why I take all of my snakes outdoors :o)
I’ve been thinking of getting a coastal carpet python but I’m not sure if it’s a good beginner snake cos I’ve never had one and I live with a 5 and 3 year old so I’m not really sure
Luv your tips i have a new baby snake my daughter was teaching me how to hold my 1st time on my own I ended up in snake handcuffs wtich my daughter found very funny as she has loved and owned since she was 10 I always remember asking her aren't you afraid its going to bite u and her reply was why would it want to that answer changed everything for me and I now am a proud mum of a baby snake and enjoying the learning curve of every moment you have the same luv and attitude she does which builds confidence in us people that have a luv them but nor so sure thank you keep up the good work
You have no clue how grateful I am to your videos. I have a young ball python who is in her second shed but this is her first shed with me. I bought her from a friend's co-worker and Persephone is amazing.
Thank you! Im a new corn snake owner, my snake has been settling in for the last 6 days so today I'm going to try and hold her, I was really nervous but after watching your video I feel much more like it's going to go ok and I'm not going to get bite lol.
One of my friends is absolutely petrified of snakes and she kinda hates me for getting my first after years of research and fascination. I’m hoping your advice will help her get over her fear and at least be in the same room as my boa! Very great video by the way!
My kingsnake will rap the tip of his tail around my finger, it's honestly really cute. He also seems to think my face changes every time he's out cause he'll flick his tongue all over my face.
My daughter just left for college a few weeks ago and left her 3ft python with us. I’ve only held it with her around. Gonna start giving it a shot at handling it. Thanks for the tips.
i find your videos very helpful, i’m planning on getting an albino pinstripe ball python, and i’ve never even touched a snake before. i’ve been watching all kinds of videos about setting up for your python and what to do after you get it. i was wondering if you could make a video on what to do when your snake arrives, such as how to check for mites, whether or not you should quarantine, and how long to leave your snake for, when to feed it, and how to feed it. thank you so much for making great videos!
I have to thank you, you've given me a lot of information about snakes. Now I'm probably ready to get a snake, you're also my favorite animal youtuber. Thanks again! I love your channel and your positivity! I hope your channel is successful.
Your channel is amazing, I sound like I’m mimicking everyone but you deserve more subscribers and your positivity is awesome. I’m getting a ball python soon and it’s my second snake but first ball python so I’m excited!
I love snakes and your channel you know i'm getting my first ball python snake soon and it is a baby so this video is really gonna help! tanks so much for all your help with the snake!!
I have a new job which involves caring for a snake. I enjoyed your video & feel more confident now. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺. Snakes in Australia are usually very dangerous. I am glad I watched your video.
I didn't even consider this as an aspect... When you think you know your stuff and you get shut down rip. But I love the video! So educational and all your snakes look so healthy and happy
I just bought my very first snake, Of course i have alot of experience with snakes growing up caring for many of them but they were my dads not my very own so im so excited! Shes a 4 year old Pink panther boa named Isis (After the goddess not the terrorists). And im extremely lucky bc She is the sweetest snake ever. she is not head shy at all and likes to wrap herself around my bun and sit on my head! She is lovely
It's a tough question. Handling does not benefit the snake, it is only for your own amusement. I tend not to handle the snake unless I need to check their health, change their terrarium or use them in a video. But as long as your snake doesn't show sign of stress, you can basically handle it as much as you like :-)
Depends on the size and mood of the snake. and of course on where it strikes you. a bite in the face must be awfull ... i experienced bites from 2 - 8 on my hands.8 was caused by a 3 meter burmese python. he was my favorite snake though and most of the time calm.
Ive been bitten by my Burmese python who is an adult and it was about a 2. He grabbed my hand and wrapped around my arm and it was about a 2. Of course everyone has a different pain tolerance. Another time he bit my arm. I would say it feels like getting a tattoo.
So I just got a spotted python myself and your video really helped me on learning how to handle him better. I watched it a couple of times very helpful and informative!
I wish everyone who owns or will own snakes would watch your video. I saw another UA-camr who has a lot of subscribers (not going to say who it is) taking out her snakes and talking about them, but in order to get a good shot of the ball python I guess she dangled it (briefly at least) by the tail. I commented that she really shouldn't do that. She never commented back or addressed it, but I got a couple morons comment back that there was nothing wrong with it, and it would "only hurt big snakes". I tried telling them that the size of the snake doesn't really matter, it's not good for any snake to hold them that way. At least one person commented and said thanks, that they didn't know, but would be sure to tell their friend who was getting a ball python about this. I responded back that that's really what it's all about -- it's not a personal attack, and it's not necessarily common knowledge how to properly handle a snake without putting it at risk of injury, but if you do make a mistake and someone points it out to you to just make sure you don't do it again.
It's a shame when the health of the snake is compromised just in order to get a good shot :-( Makes me sad. It's really great you adressed it, and hopefully a lot of people saw it and will know better. :-)
Beautiful snakes! Thanks for posting. I always use a snake hook before picking up reticulated pythons and other aggressive feeders. I rub their body gently with the snake hook. Once they have calmed down I put down the snake hook and pick them up with my hands only. A rolled up newspaper is just as effective for this purpose if you don't want to use a snake hook.
Good info, thank you! I have a 5 year-old Brazilian Rainbow Boa that I got from a friend. She's my very first snake, and sometimes I'm a bit nervous when grabbing her, but this helped a little bit!
This video was very helpful and informative!! I plan to get a California king snake soon and this has given me a great outlook on how to handle one :) I love all of your videos!
Jossers Jungle your videos have certainly convinced me to get a California king :) I'm so excited! I know you mentioned that they can be aggressive or fiesty so i wasn't sure if that may be a bad thing?
It depends on what kind of snake you like, they can be a little aggressive, but not like "jumping out to bite you" more like, shaking their tail and that kind of stuff. But in general they are really docile and awesome, just a lot more lively than ex. a ball python. If you handle 2-3 times and week and feed them well, they will treat you nicely I promise that :-)
Thank you so much!! I want a snake when I’m 13 because I’m getting a job (at a nearby barn 2 mins away) and I’ve been researching about them for 3 years and I’m so exited I’ve always been so fascinated by snakes and I’ve been writing down tips from UA-cam so this helps ly ❤️ you inspire me ❤️
I love your channel. Very informative and also very honest. I'm looking to getting a hypo pastel boa very soon and seeing the snakes you have makes me more excited. Thanks and can't wait to see your next video 🐍
ThatGameKing yeah it is I've been taken under the wing of her breeder and have done lots of research into boas and other snakes too. I'm lucky enough to spend quite a lot of time getting used to handling her and getting to know her as well.
I just want to really really really thank you for making these awesome videos - you have helped me a lot, I have learned so many great tips from you. ♥ I wouldn't be the snake owner I am now without you! I got so much confidence from your videos that I finally got the courage to adopt my own snake. She is a ball python, so needless to say (even though I love all of your videos) those about BP's are the best! All the best to you ♥
I Love snakes and your channel❤

It's a shame when the health of the snake is compromised just in order to get a good shot :-( Makes me sad.
It's really great you adressed it, and hopefully a lot of people saw it and will know better. :-)
Beautiful snakes! Thanks for posting. I always use a snake hook before picking up reticulated pythons and other aggressive feeders. I rub their body gently with the snake hook. Once they have calmed down I put down the snake hook and pick them up with my hands only. A rolled up newspaper is just as effective for this purpose if you don't want to use a snake hook.
I just got my first ball python he is a spinner male named Theodore
Good info, thank you!
I have a 5 year-old Brazilian Rainbow Boa that I got from a friend. She's my very first snake, and sometimes I'm a bit nervous when grabbing her, but this helped a little bit!
i might get a snake for xmas
What a great christmas it'll be! :-D
Adrienne Kilsdonk ooooo I hope you get one :)
Im getting one for 19th birthday
did u get it? xD
This video was very helpful and informative!! I plan to get a California king snake soon and this has given me a great outlook on how to handle one :) I love all of your videos!
So glad to hear that! Cali kings are just amazing! Good luck with it! :-D
If you handle 2-3 times and week and feed them well, they will treat you nicely I promise that :-)
Okay, wonderful! I am so excited to get a Cali king snake :) thank you so much for your advice!
your drawing fell down a little during the beginning of the vid.... it scared me...
Can we get a like for this brilliant creator, all her information is solid
In fammely with her
Thank you so much!! I want a snake when I’m 13 because I’m getting a job (at a nearby barn 2 mins away) and I’ve been researching about them for 3 years and I’m so exited I’ve always been so fascinated by snakes and I’ve been writing down tips from UA-cam so this helps ly ❤️ you inspire me ❤️
is it ok if you smell of dog
That should be okay, but it is always a good idea to watch your hands before handling a snake, just to be on the safe side :-)
Thank you so much! This helped me so muchhhh
I’m getting a snake sometime this month and this helped a lot ❤️❤️
I love your channel. Very informative and also very honest. I'm looking to getting a hypo pastel boa very soon and seeing the snakes you have makes me more excited. Thanks and can't wait to see your next video 🐍
Steve Howard is that your first snake?
ThatGameKing yeah it is I've been taken under the wing of her breeder and have done lots of research into boas and other snakes too. I'm lucky enough to spend quite a lot of time getting used to handling her and getting to know her as well.
Steve Howard oki
You have a contagious personality
Love your videos. Beautiful snakes. Interesting that you don't need to tap them to let them know it's not feeding time. Very cool.
I’m getting a snake this video really helps thank you!

All the best to you ♥
I'm so happy to hear that, thank you very much. Good luck with your gorgeous ball python and thank you for adopting! :-)
