    Thanks Terry, I have exactly the same Macbook Air 2015 Model which I bought way back in 2016 and up until now I still use it, although I am now considering to finally upgrade to Macbook Air M3 2024 model.

      Bro just go for the M1. It’s super cheap and gets the job done without any issues. If you were using the 2015 air until today then M1 is more than enough for you.

    • @KennDee
      @KennDee 8 місяців тому

      @@ghungrooseth1946 thank you for your suggestion. I was about to buy M1 but I heard it doesn't have Bootcamp, so I chose MacBook Pro 2015 i7 15" Pro Retina display with 16GB Ram and 256GB SSD for $262. It's enough for my school works and light Steam Gaming. Instead of Microsoft Office, I am using Libre Office for free. I haven't seen any lag aside from when it's getting hot. I think I will keep this for a while until it fails. Cheers everyone! 🎉

I can bring my air anywhere and work on stuff without getting worried about plugging it in. You cant beat it for 80$ No windows or Chromebook comes close.

    I've had a 2015 air for quite a few years. Got it in late 2017 and used through college and after. It was always a great laptop! It had a 128gb ssd and 8gb ram with the i5. I gave it to my mom and recently upgraded it to 512gb of storage. Then have macOS on half and windows 10 on the other half for her. It is still a great laptop and there is no reason it shouldn't have support still.

    Crazy how it can be working perfectly fine one day and then suddenly apple decides it's out of date and you can't use any apps on it or internet. Mines completely useless till now, lasted me a solid 6 years

      App Store apps are typically the next thing to get dropped support after Apple stops sending out the latest updates.

    Right now,I'm using a MacBook Air 2015. It's amazing how well it still performs for general work tasks. Surprisingly, the battery can last around 4-5 hours, which is better compared to a Thinkpad with an i7 Gen 7 processor-I think that's worse

      I bought an early 2015 Macbook Air model just last month from eBay and it's great, sadly the battery only lasts around 2 hours with heavy use. Given its age, its' not bad. Not too expensive to replace the battery and easy to replace too. It looks very modern still, i get compliments on it lol also, i was lucky, it has NO cosmetic damage cos the previous owner used a case

    Upgraded my 11 inch to a 1 terabyte nvme drive (used a $12 adapter so it would fit w/ Apple's weird ssd connector). It sped mine up quite a bit.

      I did the same recently. But I got a cheap used 512gb ssd from a computer shop. And it was a stock apple ssd so no adaptor needed. It sure makes a huge difference having 512gb vs the original 128gb lol. Even in 2017 when I first got it that ssd was so limiting.

      Apple throttles all the intel chip sets nowadays. They forcing you to go to Mchips. If you had those specs on a windows, ain’t no way it would lag like that.

    Good video! I personally use a 2014 13 in macbook air with the i5 and 4gb ram as my secondary throw in a bag computer in addition to my main machine which is a 2021 16 in m1 max macbook pro. It works great for basic web browsing and video consumption (if you're patient, not snappy like newer machines), but anything more than that is going to be too much for it. Even basic 1080p video editing in Final Cut Pro lags.
    Also, I have mine running the latest version of macOS Sonoma with opencore legacy patcher. It works fine but is definitely slower than Big Sur which is the last natively supported version on the 2013 and 2014 (but even Big Sur was pretty slow). I also have it triple booted with Windows 11 through bootcamp (that's unsupported) and with the native install of macOS Big Sur for compatability.
    To answer your question on why apps load slowly, it's just that these machines don't have a lot of CPU horsepower. Yes they have the SSD but the CPU is really the bottleneck on these machines. These have dual core low power CPUs. In fact if you open apps you'll notice the CPU usage spikes up. This is just because the newer apps and operating systems are just so much more hardware intensive than they were 8-10 years ago. The CPU usage also spikes up when loading intensive websites and videos.
    For $150, this is probably one of the best values. A $150 chromebook is going to be trash and probably have a Intel Celron processor, and a new $150 Windows laptop is not going to be very good.

    I bought mine and I love it. Maybe not the best but considering it only costed me $171 tax included it's amazing for its price range, trackpad is smooth, keyboard is nice and battery holds its own very well at around 5-6 hours of light usage, I charge it every 2 days since I don't use it often. Some hiccups here and there but considering I'm pushing its capabilities with OCLP and macOS Sequoia it's actually better than I expected
