Hi, I am looking for a solution on how to sort files by Photos Capture Time instead of Created (it's the time when I exported). I can find this time at file info, but can't sort by it. Thanks.
My absolute favorite tip that I would like to add is to create a "Screenshot" folder, and route all screenshots to go there rather than create desktop clutter.
@@riditnimdia13coming from a lifetime user of windows and using Mac for work, you don’t think windows has any unnecessary issues? Or annoying bugs? Different strokes bro
I definitively learn a couple of new tricks: - A better finder organization - Control keys combined with hot corners - Dock preferences removing the genie effect and minimize in application - Greater spotlight control even if I use Alfred - Flux with I use on Windows but didn't know it could be a good option on Mac too - Reminding me to use Widgets on desktop :D - And many more... Thanks!
I’m only 3 minutes in and impressed how straightforward and simple this video is! I’ve had Mac for years and learning some new tricks and tips! Thank you!
A few more suggestions: - Under Finder Preferences enable the setting to keep folders on top vs mixed with file names. (Optional for desktop) - Under Control Center enable the battery option for control center and hide it for the task bar to remove an icon. Still show up in control center. - In the same area customize Date and Time to remove AM/PM and day of week to save more space on menu bar
After being a windows user for past 8 to 10 years especially because of gaming and stuff, buying M3 MacBook pro tomorrow for college, got to watch the video, it was amazing.
I've been using a Mac for 18 years and never thought to look at customising the Finder window to this level of detail before. I'd only ever customised the sidebar a little by removing a few things and adding common locations. Have adjusted Finder now, will be interesting to see if I feel any difference as a lot of the options were lost on me anyway.
One of the few videos on the topic that is actually immensely helpful. I didn't know about the "Recents" folder fix or the mouse adjustments. Everything works much more seamlessly now. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for showing how to change the drag options! I haven't had a Mac in almost a decade but I distinctly remember having that function and didn't know if there was a setting buried somewhere on my new M2 MBA. thanks again so much mate
I watch these type of videos sometimes. But unlike most of the others, I actually picked up a few useful tips and applied to my system. Will be checking out other videos from this channels.
This was a wildly informational video, I had to stop a couple times for each of the features to make sure that I adjusted and added them. Super valuable thanks😊
Sergio you know what you are talking about! After a series of useless tips, finally someone taught me how to make the best out of my Macbook. Thank you!
CONFIRM. I have all these settings implemented many years ago and I confirm that all settings in this video are MUST HAVE change on your macos. Good job, thanks for this video! 😊
Trackpad tap to click and three finger drag are absolute musts. It gets on my nerves when I see someone NOT using this setup. I kinda like natural scrolling though. Great video, thanks.
I’m 2:31 in, so far I’ve shared the video, liked and just appreciate everything you’ve said without a super long intro. This is perfect, many thanks! 🙌🏼
I can't believe that over 90% of these settings are same as ones I do when setting up a new Mac. I was wondering if we can automate this? Like running a script or package that records and does all this for us for while setting up a new mac? Would be a huge time and hassle saver! (I don't always want to use time machine esp. when we already have an icloud to transfer data) Loved your video btw.
I just wanted to let you know that your videos are absolutely marvelous! They've been such a huge help to me, and I really appreciate the effort and creativity you put into each one. Keep up the amazing work-it's making a real difference.
TL;DR I approve these Mac Settings (as if my opinion has any weight) I was agreeing with all the things until you were said to create your own recents folder; I raised my eyebrow because I use it so much. As soon as I followed your suggestions and suddenly I had a folder that was ACTUALLY more useable than I expected, I hit subscribe and like. Thank you! It isn't very often that I am surprised by the results of "Mac Settings That ACTUALLY Make A Difference". I sincerely mean this when I say it, great job on providing suggestions that are actually useful and that feel like a fresh perspective 👆🏼❤
Great video. I am sitting here with my new MacPro and following along. I must confess I had to replay many sections in order to execute the feature. Thank you.
I loved how you explained the features of Finder app. Now I also use list view, I did not know there was an option to view folders and documents in list format. Thanks a lot. love from India!
I bought a Macbook Pro 2019 Model in 2019. I've been using clean my mac from then all the way until now. Its connected to my computer and external hard drive clean my mac can even delete all your double files in your hard drives. Moral of the story my Macbook is 5 years old and it runs just as good as the day I bought it. Also retina display at 4k is still as good as it gets with mac so Im also up to date
Man, full stop after double space bugged the heck out of me. I thought I'd enjoy it, but it kept getting in the way, so it got turned off. Good video though. I've been a Windows user for 30+ years, and a Mac user for just 1, but I've learned a lot, and I find I've done a lot of the things you're recommending.
I dont even have a Mac yet (will be buying one soon) but this is still one of the best videos i have seen on something like this hands down. Straight to point and every single thing is useful and makes sense. Big W video
Lots of great tweaks I didn't know about! Though I'll argue you on turning off natural scrolling - if you swiped down and the app scrolled down when you're on your phone, you probably would agree that's not natural!
Do you have a purple "Recents" folder within the Smart Folder? When I created mine, it showed up in there and it's basically an unclickable placeholder.
Hey @@ChristianBarresi, sorry for the late reply! I do indeed have a purple folder within the Smart Folder, and nothing happens when you click on it. But it's not getting in the way. One additional tip I can give you is to play around with the Grouping options within finder. In addition to sorting, you can group items by many different proporties like file type, app, etc. Many of these options will also kind of hide the purple folder from view. It's a simple workaround and a great under-utilized Finder feature!
Thanks for the video. if you want more screen room make the dock automatically hide-show on the bottom or side, and the toolbar on the top in settings.
Best video on this subject ever. I never knew of the three finger drag method. Would like to add that-as I just happened to find out-you can use this setting to mark text, too! Quite logical if you come to think of it. That's quite an improvement when not connecting a mouse! So thank you for making this quality content!
even as someone who has been using MacOS for 20 years these videos are good and remind me things I dont use and should or even learn new things good video
cool recommendations indeed. I appreciate a lot!! just one small request: You running it like a sprint ... I know: all about efficiency. Right? But it's sometimes hard to follow immediately, which - for me - in the end takes even more times to get it all checked or done, because of the repeated stop&replay. ☺
I'm assuming you're referring to my talking speed? In which case i have made significant improvements (you should see my older videos!) I am still trying to speak slower in every video though!
Great video. I’ve been a Mac user since the 1990s and I was surprised that I learned a few things. The Smart Folders setup is great. I also appreciate how quickly, but thoroughly, you went over all of your helpful tips. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
So sick of these videos where it’s stuff anyone who has used a Mac for a few months would know. THIS had new info for me as a long time user. Thank you!
I always preferred the column view. It's been a while since I've used a mac but I remember really liking that layout, especially for dragging and dropping files which is something that Mac still does way better than Windows
I'm surprised you talked about vertical space with the dock but didn't mention anything about increasing the resolution with the Displays > More Space option. Most people don't realise the real estate they are missing out on with the default setting.
Most Mac tricks and tips are very obvious. But this one is amazing! The Finder tweaks are very helpful and overall solid video! Thank you and subscribed!
Turn off True Tone because he does a lot of picture editing and mostly works at night but yet next recommendation is to turn on Night shift that basically makes your screen orange. Gotcha!
Very nice video. I’ve been a Mac user for years now and I’ve watched plenty of video about Mac tips and customization but I still found useful stuff here like the recents folder personalization, finder tool bar, changing the default folder opened… Very good video ngl.

Just thinking the same. When natural scrolling is on the screen moves like it is under your finger like on iphone and ipad. For me it would be weird if i need to scroll in ”wrong direction” when on mac. So I have it on. Everything else in this video was spot on amazing 😊
Turning spellcheck off my laptop feels sinful, scary, terrifying. I think spell check is my only friend some days. But! I did like knowing I could turn off that double space period thing--- That's super helpful!!!

My absolute favorite tip that I would like to add is to create a "Screenshot" folder, and route all screenshots to go there rather than create desktop clutter.
You can already do this.
Press "cmd+shift+5" to bring up screenshot tool, then select "options", then select "choose location"
boom all done
