It was just pointed out to me, that apparently, this is the actual Rolling Stones. I didn't realize that...lol. I'm truly speechless that my favorite band my whole life, who I've followed since I was literally 8 years old, took the time to watch my video. I'm so honored...wow. Truly Thank you so much. Absolutely incredible......
Totally agree, Alan. I’ve been a fan since “It’s all over now” way back when, saw them 3 times back in ‘73 in their Australian tour (down under here), and this is the most excited I’ve been for a long while. The song, the clip, the album/single artwork are all amazing. So much fun! I’ve really been enjoying your content, and don’t miss a show. Love your collection (I still have all my albums and singles, but moving overseas etc necessitated selling off quite a lot). So, looking at your channel always makes me feel like…I’m home!! Great stuff, mate, and here’s to those diamonds!
Wow - thanks so much liam. I really really appreciate it. So great to know that a true fan, even longer than me, is also so excited. Totally agree with, feeling so good about this upcoming release. By the way, those 1973 Austrailian tour bootlets are amongst my favorites. What a great tour you saw back in the day. I only wish I saw that. Very best, Alan
I've read a couple of reviews of the new album and the feeling seems to be that it's the best since Some Girls. Assuming this is their last studio album, it would be great to go out on a big high. That might be enough to tempt me to buy it. As you know, I like the Stones without being a huge fan - I have the 10 year peak from Beggars Banquet to Some Girls and a couple of other studio albums.
Certainly they're doing their part to create a huge buzz. I just hope it lasts till Oct 20 -that's a long time away. Best album since Some Girls would be great....finger's crossed, but I do have a good feeling about this one.
I am very VERY excited for the new Album. I already pre-order it. The song Angry is really really special. Alan thank you for the wonderful video. I’ll be getting the single as well.
I watched the Jimmy Fallon interview this morning and watched the "Angry" video that followed. I can't believe it, the song was great, And the video as well! It sounded rough and raw, just like I like to hear them, in their element. The funny thing is, they don't sound 80 (what ever that means). I agree with you that the album only has 12 tracks and no more. I'm tired of the endless fillers of the past. If the production and sound quality of this record is any indication based on the cut of Angry, then Hackney Diamonds should be a smash hit. I certainly hope so.
So glad you loved it too. It really is incredible - 80 years old. It's insane. But Mick's voice the music / band sound totally vital. Could be the 70's all over again (except for Mick T - could've used some of his magic on the guitar solo). Yea - very excited about this.
The new Stones video is great. Love their entire history and this production captured the high octane of the new track and their legendary tours! Thanks for insights Alan .
Love your shows Alan. And love the Exile t-shirt! Kind of agree with you about the limited (ie 10 or so) track listing but is that to fit the vinyl format? Looks as if the band (especially Keith) are fairly vinyl-minded, not that that's a bad thing. The band seem to have come a bit unstuck on Bigger Bang releasing so many repetitive numbers, even if tracks like 'Laugh I nearly Died' and 'Back of my Hand' were both terrific. The 'Bridges to Babylon' format seems to have worked better for them (and us), even if there was a sharp differentiation between the Keith and Mick numbers on that album. On Voodoo Lounge the band seem to have fallen prey to the temptations of the new CD format, in terms of greatly extended track listing, but even so, most of those numbers (by no means all though) were pretty good. The flip side of your argument is that fans will sooner or later be ravenous for the various outtakes, as indeed they are now, for anything and everything, going right the way back to Beggars Banquet and earlier. Another thing Alan, I thought your comments about Side 4 of 'Love You Live' were a little ungenerous! For me, the first couple tracks, ie IOR&R and Brown Sugar, were quite stunning. And am I the only person to think that 'All the Rage' is one of the band's best tracks since 'Brown Sugar'?
First thanks so much for your awesome comments. I really appreciate it. I remember Mick around the release of Voodoo lounge saying because CDs were expensive and extended time on them he wanted to give the fans their money’s worth and put things on that typically wouldn’t make the cut. Funny in that fans agree that Voodoo lounge and bridges are too long but never agree on which songs should have been deleted so it’s funny. As for love you live. As you know I’m a big fan of it but I was always let down by side 4 except Sympathy which is really good. Brown Sugar and JJ Flash are just ok. Jaggers vocals on it are over the top in my view to its detriment. IoRR is good but definitely better versions from that time period. Just my thoughts of course. I like All the rage. Jaggers modern day singing style and affectation distract me from being a true outtake from its time. But yea it’s a good strong track. Since Brown Sugar. Well I don’t know about that. Lol. Thanks again.
And very much appreciate you and your shows too Alan!. Personally, I wouldn't have said that Voodoo and Babylon were too long, but I reckon that at least a couple of clunking & cumbersome numbers could have been dropped from Voodoo in particular. And some thoughts on Love You Live: I've always felt that that the LA Forum shows in 1975 would have provided vastly stronger source material for a live album than what came out of the European dates the following year, except for the Paris shows perhaps, where Keith was beset by tragedy, poor man. Still, he came out firing on all cylinders as always, which is why, I guess, that show featured so strongly on LYL. And then perhaps they could have released an edited version of 'Mocambo' in '79, which was an otherwise fallow year for them, with maybe with a bit of Knebworth thrown in. Who knows!@@TheAlanRosenbergShow
@@bernardjennings3549 yea. I love the official El Mocambo release. Didn’t disappoint at all. Fantastic. Yea. I love the LA 75. Had the old bootlegs and they were hot. Paris is a good show. i’m surprised you have no plans to pick up a vinyl copy too. i mean i understand it but considering you have so many multiple copies of their releases i thought you’d at least pick up one version on vinyl. also agree with you timing wise this was a little odd. the album should be in stores today to take advantage of the buzz. a month from now? thats the old model of album releasing.
Although I have hundreds of vinyl albums. I’ve spent the last 2 decades slowly getting rid of them and replacing them with superior cd versions. I’ll always keep certain vinyl like my Stones collection but no need to add to it. More than happy with the cd and dvd Dolby atmos.
Thanks so much Mark - I don't know about the timing. Definitely concerns me - I really want them to get a final #1 US album and don't understand the logic of this timing. But assuming their marketing people with the huge money they're spending are a lot smarter than me and know exactly what they're doing. Let's hope.
Cool summary ... was not too taken by the song but after your critique I will re-listen with your insights providing some heloful signposts ... best bit of the interview, for me, was the accapella rendition of a classic oldie ... enjoyes that a lot ... and they sang it great .... for the few seconds they did. .... I have all the Stones albums on CD ... will listen to new album on Qobuz first [presumably it will be HiRes] before making a call on picking the album up on release v waiting a bit .... hopefully, like the post 90's albums, there will be plenty of great tunes on the release .... CMcG, Aberdeen, Scotland ... p.s. and, yes, Living in a Ghost Town would have been a nice bonus track
Thanks so much. At first I thought Fallon was going over the line by starting to sing Off The Hook - just taking the hosting too far, but Jagger joined in and yes it became very fun. Good fun oldie showing Fallon really is a fan.
The mixer for live shows was told by Jagger can't hear any notes in the monitors. The guy bent over backwards to solve the problem in fear of the sack Jagger said just turn Keef down 😮 Any way the guy fixed it ( working at the limits of the impossible) fearing the sack. Origin of the problem - Jagger's tone deaf in his old age. Keef told him to turn it down at one show recent years. Jagger said : F... off!! ( lip reading) 😂 Keef's face was hysterical like when Chuck Berry turned on him for turning down his amp.😂 They switched Brian's off for good 😂😂😂 ☠️
I watched that interview. Really interesting. I didn't take it as he was tone deaf. Just that he wanted to hear Ronnie in his monitors, not Keith. Which is really interesting, because of course, the band always followed Keith. But in the last few tours, Keith's playing is ....lets just say....not what it used to be. So very telling if Mick prefers to follow Ronnie now and not Keith. Of course, to an extent this is just conjecture, but certainly interesting. By the way, Jagger's vocals, for a guy at 80, is astonishing. Still really powerful. He really takes care of himself.
Wow - now that's saying something. Awesome - seems to be a general great response which I'm thrilled with. Nice to hear from an older original fan - Fantastic.
Oh, Alan, if only you showed some real enthusiasm so that the rest of us Stones fans could share your excitement in anticipation of the arrival of “Hackney Diamonds!” In all seriousness, I have mixed emotions regarding how fast I want October 20th to come. As much as I’ve been yearning for nearly 20 years for all-new music from my favorite band, I’m feeling a bit nervous about the release of the final album by the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band. I want so much for it to be the perfect last hurrah for the longest-existing, hugely-influential, immensely-admired and most versatile group of rock ‘n’ rollers. The album’s first single, “Angry,” makes me think we’re off to a kick-ass start. It’s got all the trademarks of a solid Stonesy rocker. Mick’s vocals, unlike those of his contemporaries (except for the amazing Graham Nash), are spot on. And I love how in the official video for the song, The Stones come alive in the various billboards - showing the band’s different looks during different phases of its history. But, as you pointed out, Alan, will “Angry” and its video stay in the fickle public’s memory for about six weeks, when “Hackney Diamonds” drops? How is that striking when the iron is hot? Well, The Stones always employ cracker-jack publicity teams. So, like you, I am hopeful that the album is a massive success on every level.
Yea, Mick has really taken care of himself over the decades and it shows. His voice is incredible. He and the Stones still sound so vital and alive - really amazing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't ever remember the Stones doing promotion for a single/ album like this before. For tours - yes - always, but never for a single or album. Clearly no expense has been spared. But Oct 20 is a month and a half away. Who will remember all this...few. So I'm bewildered by the timing. But they clearly hire the experts and they want a number 1 as badly as I want them too...lol. Haven't had one since Tattoo You in 81 in the US. My fingers are crossed - they so deserve it.
I, too, don’t remember The Stones ever going all out to promote a single. This blitz for “Angry” seems unprecedented. The band is doing what it takes to leave no stone unturned in helping to get “Hackney Diamonds” to number 1, though, as you pointed out, the timing appears questionable. It makes me wonder if at least one more big album promo maneuver will happen between now and Oct. 20th to keep the buzz ongoing. (The Stones certainly do have the bucks!) I’m joining you in keeping my fingers crossed for “Hackney Diamonds” making it to number 1.
On first hearing of the song, I felt they had gone back TO BEING THE ROLLING STONES . Early, 1960's Stone's, to be exact, when a Stone's single, really stood out in the crowd. EXCELLENT. The video, I've only watched once BUT "what a vibrant, exciting, interesting video" again EXCELLENT. Not seen the interview yet.
Thanks. I just hope the rest of the world doesn't forget. I would LOVE for the Stones to have another #1 album - in the States it's been since 1981....Thanks again.
Thanks Alan for the well wishes. I am excited too. Like you, I really liked the ending of the song. It's gonna sound great live. I am excited that Stevie Wonder is on the album too. Also glad that it is just 12 songs. God only knows what will happen to the other songs that they recorded. Probably some will be on the Mega Super Deluxe Superior edition 😂🤣 I don't do the whole Atmos thing but the Blu ray should be great. I actually really liked the Goats Head Soup Blu ray. I do like that alternative cover on the blue vinyl edition. They are getting some of my money.... what's left over from the oral surgeon 😂🤣
I saw that alternate cover. It is nice. I hope they don't re-release a mega super edition afterwards, because if they do, of course they'll sucker me into buying it. I heard Woody's comment about Stevie Wonder. Wasn't sure if he was saying Wonder's on it, or more in the style of Wonder. Either way, very cool though. Feel better.
It was torture watching that weird youtube clock waiting for the video (Angry) to premiere! But it was really great. Well, the bint on the car didn’t do much for me, she had about as much charisma as a shoehorn… maybe seeing her talk to Jimmy before didn’t help. Kylie Minogue she ain’t (like you I have no clue who she is). Loved seeing Bill in the video. In fact I’d say we saw far more from him than Charlie and Mick T. Maybe someone’s told them people don’t like all the washing Bill out of photo’s they’ve done over the years? Btw, did you notice that the drumset was empty in several shots? I was disappointed there were no 7’’ of Anger until I found one on the official website. But when I was going to order it said it couldn’t be delivered to either Norway or Denmark. What gives Stones? Your website is all post Brexit?!? Open an EU distribution hub then for %#*$€ sake! But all in all… I’m almost giddy! Btw, wasn’t there a Paul McCartney rumour? Oh and adding Ga-Ga (who I personally can’t stand) badly dates the album right away if you ask me. But at least there’s no Miley Cyrus. Great to see you exited as well. Oooh, totally agree on the 6 week wait. People these days are goldfish! Yes, Anger arrives tomorrow but normies don’t buy singles anymore!
Thanks as always. Didn't notice the empty drumset, missed it - but nice touch. I don't know who the girl is, but oooh - I thought she did her part....lol. But even she and her grinding wasn't as exciting as the Stones billboards. McCartney is supposed to play bass on one track. I'm no fan of Ga Ga, though I did love Star Is Born movie. But she has pipes so could be really great singing on the album. We'll see. Kylie who? lol - no, I know her, though I've never owned any of her music. I'll let you know if the Angry single shows up at a local record store. If so, hopefully will get distributed to your's as well. I imagine it will. Can't see why not and why limit the sales just to the website.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow no Kylie?!? But she is the but… I mean pop princess from Oz! Lot of people who own a Nick Cave album has Kylie in their collection 😊
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow she’s not exactly homely now either. Check out her new red haired look on the latest British issue of Rolling Stone magazine. She had a massive hit this summer, new album is days away and she’s sold out a 6 month residency in Las Vegas!

It’s a great single..reminds me a bit of the buzz I felt hearing “Mixed Emotion” the first time around August of 1989 on WBCN Boston (although in retrospect Sad, Sad, Sad was the cooler tune).
I also remember the excitement of the 1989 return. I do think Angry is a much greater song. Unfortunately in the States, looks like all the publicity is not gonna help it chart. Incredible, but it's not even gonna hit the top 200. Unbelievable.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Damn shame…Imagine of the Stones had a #1 in today’s market? That would be huge. The music biz is weird and not really fun anymore..still, I’d love the story of the Stones once again breaking through in 2023.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I imagine the Top 200 is now geared towards a very specific market. The Stone organization gets if but at least their single made a bit of “splash”..anything counts these days.

Wonder about the lyrics is Mick getting the Fem treatment from Sydney? Who is the star in that video! Jeez it was slick candy. Haven't seen a video that good since the Stone wheel. It had that important vibe like when MTV mattered! Have to look at the meta of those lyrics? Wonder why he let's Lady Gaga in the Studio? PR not the music. Yeah it did look a bit Austin Powers parodic 😂

@@thomaswery3087 yea he gets over the top for sure. Sometimes placing himself above the guests. He did that with Off the Hook but Jagger brought him back.
@@thomaswery3087 Fallon kept it fairly light and entertaining which I guess was what they were looking for. I thought he was fine. Gives him a chance to do his Jagger impression which Jagger commented really funny I don’t speak like that.
Most memorable 😂 comment : You gotta realise nobody has gone this far in rock they've been going longer than Voyager! To which I replied :Voyager wasn't silent for 18 years 😂
I grew to like the song a great deal, especially that chewy fade out....at first, I thought it was just okay/good, in that it really didn't grab you by the throat, the way, say, Rough Justice did. When I heard that back in '05, I thought it was the best Jagger/Richards single since Start Me Up. This song doesn't have quite the ballsiness of that tune, but it has grown on me tremendously. I still don't understand how the album did not go No. 1 in the US. Are you certain, Alan, that it went No 1 in all of those other countries? I believe it, I just don't understand how it could tip the top spot internationally, and not hit No 1 in the states. Also, what is your opinion on the album title and artwork? I think it...well....kinda sucks. I could live with the title but is that the best their creative teams could come up with for a cover and concept??? I mean, it's forgettable. I love the Paul Smith design--and don't know why they didn't make that the standard release--as simple as it is. Quite honestly, Stones sleeves/packaging has been nothing special for quite some time, after having so many iconic looks through their career, I don't think they've had any sort of interesting packaging since Undercover--though that's part cartoonish, part garish.
Thanks so much - I'm glad Angry has grown on you. Hackney Diamonds hit #1 in France, Germany, UK, Australia, Argentina and many other European countries. In the US it peaked at #3. I talked about the album cover and the name. Frankly I've been disappointed with their album covers for decades. Funny what you said about Undercover - to me that is their last great album cover. I LOVED it - actually have a pretty valuable poster of it hanging up too. Most hate that cover but not me - it's so Rolling Stones. It's been downhill ever since. I once showed what I thought Voodoo Lounge should've had - which was the skeletons used on You Got Me Rocking single - much better. Hated Bridges. SW, ABB were lame. Considering this was the Stones "return" - Hackney Diamonds means nothing and the graphics though an improvement over the recent ones, was still not very Rolling Stones to me. It's grown on me a bit but not a great cover. The album still sounds great. Let's see what The Stones play live from it when they tour. Thanks again.
Really dig the new single ‘Angry’ but I agree 100% Alan, the solo could have been much better, they certainly could have used the mighty Mick Taylor for the solo.
Ohhh that vid o was sooo embarassing. Keef never played guitar that well in his entire life. Woody also. This whole song was performed by other musicians. That's not Mick's voice. Sounds like it was recorded 18:years ago.
ouch...I don't know if it's my video that's so embarrassing or The Stones Angry video. If it's the Stones video, no. That's clearly Mick playing the opening rhythm riffs. Clearly Steve Jordan on drums. And that's clearly a Ronnie Wood solo (not great by any means). Micks' voice is terrific. And the song smokes, especially the 2nd half after the guitar solo....c'mon That's classic Stones and chill inducing to me. Sorry you don't like it. The Stones video for Angry is amazing. Love the billboards turning into bits of footage from their class time periods. C'mon. this is great stuff. Now if you just hate my video...than my apologies, but it's passionate.
@@robertmonzi9904 Apparently you guys are correct. I’m judging by my ears from the first listen but now they’ve come out with who’s playing what and apparently it’s Keith. Or at least some of it is Keith as they are weaving as they do and overdubbing I’m sure. To me still sounds like another amateuristic uninspired Woody solo. Regardless of who’s playing it it’s fairly lousy and that is the more important point. Thanks guys for the correction, though my ears say it’s still mostly Woody lol

I like the new song alot
Awesome - so glad. Seems to be a general great response - very excited. Thanks.
Listening to the new great song Angry made me feel I went back to 1969 in a time machine.
@@ronalaurence4105 didn’t think of that. Maybe they’ll do more promo in the states as it gets closer. We’ll have to see.
Thanks so much. Excellent indeed. To me more 70’s classic hard driving Stones but either way it’s excellent and that’s what counts.
I'm like you that should have put it out in two days on Friday would have been fine. I'm not going to forget because I'm excited
Hey thats so true. Used to be a year was a long time now 24 hours is. Sad I got the cd n clear vinyl indie shop ordered tday..I salute you.
Thanks so much.
Lol - I don't know her music...but she was a hottie.....@@MortenAastad
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow she’s not exactly homely now either. Check out her new red haired look on the latest British issue of Rolling Stone magazine. She had a massive hit this summer, new album is days away and she’s sold out a 6 month residency in Las Vegas!
@@MortenAastad I don’t know. Lol. Me and Kylie. Minogue. Somewhere on my shelf between Joni Mitchell, Moody Blues, Manic Street Preachers. Does she fit there? Lol.
The stones have the best outros, and man angry ranks up there, and gotta love micks trademark with no no no no,my favorite part.
Yes totally agree. And Angry and SSOH are up there with the greatest ever. Gives me chills. Thanks again
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Damn
shame…Imagine of the Stones had a #1 in today’s market? That would be huge. The music biz is weird and not really fun anymore..still, I’d love the story of the Stones once again breaking through in 2023.
Me too. But the single didn't even make it on the US charts at all - not even in the top 200. Now that's depressing. @@drummer78
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I imagine the Top 200 is now geared towards a very specific market. The Stone organization gets if but at least their single made a bit of “splash”..anything counts these days.
Hey Alan, You said to let you know what I think of the new Broadsword set. Fantastic. Sounds great. Booklet is amazing. Be careful removing and putting back the cds. Urs a little tricky.
Wow, you got through the whole box already. How's the live show. I have bootlegs from that tour so probably pretty great. I heard that there's so many discs that the clips break off or something. I'm waiting for the price drop and I'll buy it. But thanks for the update. I'm a big fan of the album. Talk about chill inducing...Pussy Willow gives me chills every time.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I havent gotten to the dvds yet. But the others sound great. Yes, you have to be careful removing the discs. Its tricky. Dont force it in. Place it gently on top and slide it down and in.
@@pmrossetti1 thanks. Hopefully I’ll be picking it up soon.
I'm no Lady Gaga fan, don't have any of her albums, but she was great in Star Is Born. Apparently she can really sing. We'll see - interesting for her to be on a Stones song for sure. Yea - awesome video.
I can't tell are you exited about a new Stones album? lol I can't wait hopefully they'll have a few options for the album just to see what you'll do lol
Thanks Tom....Yea gotta say, I'm getting really excited. Gotta good feeling about this album and Angry didn't disappoint at all. I'll be sticking with the deluxe CD and Atmos surround sound disc box for sure.
Ya I put my comment in b4 the end.I also will be getting the cd/blu-ray.The only problem I had was Fallon just can't stomach the guy.But ya can't wait my friend should be awesome@@TheAlanRosenbergShow
@@thomaswery3087 yea he gets over the top for sure. Sometimes placing himself above the guests. He did that with Off the Hook but Jagger brought him back.
I would of preferred someone from the BBC that's really into music and the Stones@@TheAlanRosenbergShow
To which I replied :Voyager wasn't silent for 18 years 😂
Lol. Yes. Good point indeed.
Thanks so much - yes agree that the solo could be so much better. Ah the Mick Taylor days... But the song is still great. Thanks again.
Red Merc stole it. The dangers of brand placement. Yeah his voice is definitely off.
I've no idea what Red Merc is.
oh thanks I drive a really old Honda Accord lol didn't know @@pringles4312
Ohhh that vid o was sooo embarassing. Keef never played guitar that well in his entire life. Woody also. This whole song was performed by other musicians. That's not Mick's voice. Sounds like it was recorded 18:years ago.
This is the best you can do? Come on, man, go back to the workshop and craft a better troll.
ouch...I don't know if it's my video that's so embarrassing or The Stones Angry video.
The guitar solo sounds like Keith to me. @@TheAlanRosenbergShow
That is definitely a Keith solo. Absolutely no doubt about it.
I gotta admit, its kind of exciting to get some new Stones.
Yea....especially when it's so good. I felt the same with Ghost Town as well. Great stuff. Thanks.
That solo is definitely Keith. His soloing powers have been dimmed since the 70s to be honest though.
Apparently the credits say it’s him and woody. Sure sounds like Woody. Unimpressive either way though. Lol.
Keith does the solo and Ronnie comes in at the end.
