Great to see Roxy Music. I'd go with "For You Pleasure" 1st, though. And Countdown, too. Steely Dan made a ridiculous great 1st 6 albums. Cooper is classic era, too.

Quadrophenia is a self-indulgent wank by a Band that had drastic highs and lows.
Quadrophenia is bland and offensive to a music lover like me.
The easy thing to do is to roll out the 'usual suspects' or repeat what you've heard other people say.
In 1973 the Best and Greatest Rock Band in history released their major breakthrough album "PILEDRIVER"
It was their 5th album.
This album stands up high on the balcony looking down on all the pedestrian and mediocre albums made by other Bands and Musicians.
If you want to hear Rock music played properly and correctly then you listen to STATUS QUO.
The longest and loudest internal scream still continues today from when I heard the opening track "Don't Waste My Time"
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!
The Best and Greatest Rock Band in history took all their LIVE stage equipment into the studio and recorded LIVE without any wanky overdubs.
They are genuine, authentic, sincerely down to Earth and unpretentious, no airs or graces, the antithesis of some of the pompous, arrogant and bloated, egotistical wankers that appear on other people's list of 15 Best albums of 1973.

In 1973 The Queen of Rock released her debut album "Can the Can"
It is one of the best Produced albums I've ever heard.
It is one of the best Rock albums of all time.
SUZI QUATRO is from Detroit Rock City, though she and her band were massive outside of the USA.
The USA is not always a good indicator of what is good quality art/music/culture.
Some of the best music I've heard comes from a little backwater called Australia.
Roxy Music "For Your Pleasure" and, "Stranded!"
I kinda stopped listening to Dark Side Of The Moon in 73, after way over-listening to it. But by that time it was burned into my soul and I knew it by heart. I did listen to it all the way through recently and thought, yeah, I was right, this was Great!

No Quadrophenia by The Who??! Their second Rick Opera. The Real Me, Love Reign Oer Me ,DR Jimmy,John Entwhistle s Bass playing off the charts. Keith Moon probably his best drumming on any WHO album. Roger Daltrey soaring Vocals. Peter Dennis Blanford Townshend s incredible Guitar playing. What’s not to love. No way that album isn’t in the Top 5.

I have always thought that 1973 was probably my favourite year of recorded music, especially in the Rock genre. I'm quite a bit older than you Vee, but I love that you focused on 1973, and thank you for including a coupe of artists I'd never heard of before ( Gary Higgins & Duncan Browne), I'll be searching for their work to enjoy. I also like the fact that your tastes are eclectic, mine are as well. I was introduced to many different genres of music as a child, I had an Auntie who worked for CBS Records, so she gifted many albums to me from a vast variety of genres.

That is one tough collection of albums to beat. I suspect that my Math/Science teacher from 2 years after it was released still has my vinyl copy of the Sabbath album - all that Satanic imagery was too much for his Catholic school brain. It was the last time I ever took a record to school to loan to a buddy but they would have completely flipped at the mere mention of Judas Priest. Thanks for the memories.
My mind immediately went to Seinfeld and the gym teacher who gave George a wedgie and then stole the book he was holding for Jerry. At the end of the episode, the gym teacher is revealed to now be homeless, but still in possession of the book. I picture your former teacher is now on the streets with your copy of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
Or he actually played it and turned into a massive metal head.

200 album deep dive, nice! I'd go so far as say that there are at least that many that are at least very good. Nice deep pick with Gary Higgins. I haven't listened to that in probably 15 years, need to revisit.

All American Boy - Rick Derringer and The Smoker You Drink The Player you Get Joe Walsh as great 1973 albums as well. .I was not expecting Honky Tonk Heroes but that is a damn great choice also.. Crazy what a great year 1973 was. So many big albums. Then again, I feel you could say that about every year of that decade, haha.
I hated The Crunge as a kid, but love it now.

I never liked Bowies version of 'Lets Spend....' but the rest of the album is great.

1973 is peerless for rock, pop and soul music. I've always preferred 'Aladdin Sane' to Ziggy but I think that is mainly because I heard Aladdin in its entirety before I did Ziggy so it became my gateway into Bowie's work.

One must say that if you are bringing things down to just 15 albums of a certain year, they should all be five star records. It also gets a mite frustrating when people just mention or even highlight the hit songs as,lets face it, the hit singles are just things picked out by the record company, which if left to your own individual choice would likely be a different song. Yellow Brick Road is a case in point as almost any one of the songs on that record could have been 'hit singles'.

For me, 1973 is a bit of a letdown for heavy rock as most bands went 'soft' and aimed for more commercialised sounds. For what it's worth, here are some heavy and prog rock favourites (not ranked) :

How do you make a list of the "Top" albums, and miss #5,#6, #8-11, #14-20? Top means "the highest point, level, or part of something", or "the highest position (as in rank or achievement)", or "the highest degree or pitch conceivable or attained". Nowhere in there does it include "favorite" (unless the qualifier "my" is used). I bought all these albums new in 1973. Mott was not in my Top 20, then, or now. There was just too much better stuff available, to settle for a band that had potential, but really never lived up to it.

I will keep your feedback in mind when titling future videos. Some of the albums you've mentioned I like a lot and just missed my favourite 15 albums (Steely Dan slots in at #16, in fact and Eagles not far behind).
@@LetItVee You have albums that are personal favorites, but that did not catch on with the public. I have albums in my Top 200 that are intensely personal, and not that popular, although I pimp them whenever the subject of "Artists who almost made it" comes up, or similar themes. Mott was not that great an album, although it does have a lot of the best Mott the Hoople laid down, in wax.
It's very different, for your generation. You can jump into the best of an artist, and skip the stuff that came before, or after. Some artists took a while to figure out the studio, instrumentation, lyrics, and public image, getting better, but not hitting it out of the park, until the 3rd, 4th, even 5th LP. Some released one great album, in the middle, somewhere, of up to a dozen releases. The songs that don't wear out give album legs, still tickling the ear after thousands of times.

Quadrophenia is a self-indulgent wank by a Band that had drastic highs and lows.
Quadrophenia is bland and offensive to a music lover like me.
The easy thing to do is to roll out the 'usual suspects' or repeat what you've heard other people say.

It was their 5th album.
This album stands up high on the balcony looking down on all the pedestrian and mediocre albums made by other Bands and Musicians.
If you want to hear Rock music played properly and correctly then you listen to STATUS QUO.
The longest and loudest internal scream still continues today from when I heard the opening track "Don't Waste My Time"

It is one of the best Produced albums I've ever heard.
It is one of the best Rock albums of all time.
SUZI QUATRO is from Detroit Rock City, though she and her band were massive outside of the USA.
The USA is not always a good indicator of what is good quality art/music/culture.
Some of the best music I've heard comes from a little backwater called Australia.
