and even though there are singers with better quality voices - Mick knew just how to sing his songs to their fullest to make them iconic .. "Sympathy for the Devil" - "Street Fighting Man" - "Beast of Burden" - "Start Me Up" etc.
For the world, it makes no difference if anybody liked him or not. For the other band mates, there would have been no Rolling Stones without Jagger. They could have kept their self respect and quit the band early on, but the ride was so much fun, they put up with a prima dona.
Jagger was the leader and manager of the band. Even as early as the '69 tour when they really got huge, everything flowed through Jagger. I read a lot of first hand accounts and they all give the same story.
Yes, both Mick and Keith were the two key members who could not be replaced and still be The Stones. Mick was and is the consummate showman, and Keith the consummate guitar lick man. Keith’s legendary licks and Mick’s swagger and charisma propelled the group for over 60 years.
@@bbsqtlead4939 Yes, Jagger is definitely one of the most iconic figures in music history over the last 70 years. Jagger is right up there with Lennon, McCartney, Michael Jackson, and Elvis. Jagger was a cultural icon of the 1970s too.
Keith and Mick do sell the tickets. They could stick anyone behind them and call it the Stones and sell out a stadium. Wyman couldn't do that. He probably couldn't sell a theatre.
But do keep in mind, all of the writers and mags declared Bill and Charlie as the best rhythm section in all of R&R and I don't recall anyone knocking them off. Yes, we all have a few that rival them but you cannot knock their contribution.
Jagger looked rather mousey sitting next to Lennon in the TV show Rock n Roll Circus. I'm guessing Lennon's wit and unpredictable edginess might have kept Jagger's ego in check.
Regardless of what has happened besides Charlie Watts passing away and Bill Wyman retiring they’ve been together for over 50 years. It’s actually incredible!
Who cares what this has been thinks .he moved on because he was jealous and couldn't handle the relationship. Jagger did a good job was a perfectionist and is still doing well.
To be a successful front-man for so long you need to have a big ego. Most big bands with creatives all experience similar disputes and tensions. It adds to the creativity. Today's lot would fall over after the first argument.
I've read up on the RS' over several decades and yeah, he probably vied for control on every album but it came to a point where he had to as Keith and Brian were not stable enough to do all of the "business stuff". So his appearing to be a control freak was more or less a natural occurrence.. a logical outcome.
He has a ram= and Leo sheep sun, and a ram moon.. so yes he woke up every day ready for battle. At least he found an outlet for all that powerful energy.🎉
Yes, he could actually sing (a bit) in the early years. I still listened to them up to the mid 70s. I always figure that most people who actually like the decent cover band that they are now are just hooked on the Jagger swagger.
The Mick Taylor era was their best. Yes, Brian Jones' era was close, but he faded as far as influence to fast. Taylor's influence lasted the whole time he was in the band. Brought them to a whole new level musically.
@@teleguy5699Yes, Your Right! By 1969 They needed a 💪🏻 Lead 🎸 Neither Keith or Brian could play like Mick Taylor! Ironically, 5 Yrs later. Taylor 🎸 left the band for most of the same reasons. Brian was discouraged with!
@@vinonavortex5582 I'm learning Keith's parts for my guitar lessons. Anybody think he's not a genius in his riffs and phrasings of his rhythm guitar doesn't know guitar or are just jealous. So he doesn't shred like VH. There are enough of those guys. It's all about the groove, and the Stones, in their heyday had it in spades.
Stopped likeing Jagger when he upstaged/disrespected Muddy Waters in a Chicago club. The rest of the Stones knew what to do and how to act at a Muddy Waters gig. Not Mick f'ing Jagger.
At times Bill does sound like he's got a chip on his shoulder regarding Mick & Keith - but for good reason!! He was denied songwriting credits on more than a few songs in the early days!! Also Loog Oldham suddenly decided that Keith should sing the backing vocals - taking the job away from Bill & Brian (who were doing an admirable job).
Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts were the only two functional adults in the band. And as a frontman Mick Jagger was reminiscent of Don Knotts with long hair. The best front man of that era was Jim Morrison of the Doors who wrote his own lyrics and was an intellectual genius not to mention more disturbed and self destructive. And yes everyone in the band was hired initially by Brian Jones the true founder but then when Jones became emotionally stable Richards and Jagger had to rebel against him and start over.
the way it is told to me .... Brian Jones needed to be moved out for the Stones to become what they became. So, it was a cold business decision in the end. the manager Oldham was willing to put Keith and Jagger as the head of the band. similar sorrow happened with Bob Marley and the Wailers. they used to be called " the Wailers " until their record producer said we need to concentrate on Bob . both of the changes in the bands concentrated on hard rythm over musical exploration.
Mick is an easy target to attack, but if it wasn't for his song writing, singing voice and stage charisma we would have never heard of any of the other Stones.
A little bit of research is required. Mick has a great relationship with his children. He is a good father. I am sick of people trashing Mick. Yes, the band was Brian's originally, but he wanted to be the star and drink drugs took over. In the 60's Keith was the leader of The Rolling Stones. After Altamont, Mick began to assume more control over the band's finances and decisions. Keith became a junkie in the 70's and Mick took more control. Otherwise the band would have broken up. Mick is the reason that The Rolling Stones continue to tour, release new music and remain The World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band!! My research includes many books, magazine articles, interviews with the band and those who know them, documentaries. As well as internet research and fan sites!!
Mick was in control before Altamont. I read Ronnie Schneider's, Sam Cutler's, Stanley Booth's books of the '69 tour. Everything went through Mick. Keith pretty much partied with Booth and Schneider most of the tour from what they wrote. Cutler was the road manager, the one you hear in Ya Ya's "The greatest rock n roll band in the world..." who chronicles Jagger's roll. Then the Stones left him hanging after Altamont and he went on to be the manager of the Grateful Dead.
Urban myth. Whether he did or not, Jagger, kind of like Prince, banged tons of women. I've read enough books and first hand accounts to tell you that's true.

and even though there are singers with better quality voices - Mick knew just how to sing his songs to their fullest to make them iconic .. "Sympathy for the Devil" - "Street Fighting Man" - "Beast of Burden" - "Start Me Up" etc.
Maybe because his lyrics are mostly infantile........
@@billyz5088Plodding at best......
That’s because he wasn’t
A lot of those lyrics were written by Richards.
The problem : 10:29 of saying and constantly repeating absolutely nothing.
Bill Wyman what a great musician
No Jagger,no Stones.
@@spinynorman8217 YOU GOT THAT RIGHT
Keith is the engine that moves The Rolling Stones
Yes, both Mick and Keith were the two key members who could not be replaced and still be The Stones. Mick was and is the consummate showman, and Keith the consummate guitar lick man. Keith’s legendary licks and Mick’s swagger and charisma propelled the group for over 60 years.
@@bbsqtlead4939 Yes, Jagger is definitely one of the most iconic figures in music history over the last 70 years. Jagger is right up there with Lennon, McCartney, Michael Jackson, and Elvis. Jagger was a cultural icon of the 1970s too.
@@markzelepugas6046Charlie was the engine. Even Keith has said that.
Lennon knew how to handle him
Lennon couldn't handle his own anger issues. He was a communist twit.
Bill caught a delicious bass🎣🐟
I didn't hear Bill Wyman say one word
The Bass and the Drums, powered the Stones 👍🎸
Keith and Mick do sell the tickets. They could stick anyone behind them and call it the Stones and sell out a stadium. Wyman couldn't do that. He probably couldn't sell a theatre.
But do keep in mind, all of the writers and mags declared Bill and Charlie as the best rhythm section in all of R&R and I don't recall anyone knocking them off. Yes, we all have a few that rival them but you cannot knock their contribution.
Jagger: the price we have paid and continue to pay in order to get to hear Keith
Well said
I grew tired of Jagger’s effeminate ways fifty years ago.
Yep! After I saw the video of Angie, with him dress like a lady, that was the end of the stones for me. Yuck.
As if he knows you exist. Bless your heart.
Your comment is irrelevant

Mercy, we do like a he-man, don't we?
You Tube should be renamed :Tom, Dick, and Harry
Ginger Baker hated Mick, but loved Charlie.
My favorites in the band are Charlie Watts(RIP) and Ron Wood. Mick Jagger had the charisma and I loved watching him perform in the 1970's.
Keef and Charlie for me, but Jagger in his heyday was unbelievable frontman.
I would love to see Mick's reaction as he watches this video! LOL
Bill Wyman. The coolest bass player on the planet!
You completely left out Mick Taylor !
iT TOOK THEM 10 minutes to explain us that Jagger is dominant and egocentric.
Jagger looked rather mousey sitting next to Lennon in the TV show Rock n Roll Circus. I'm guessing Lennon's wit and unpredictable edginess might have kept Jagger's ego in check.
3 year age difference may have played a role here.
Bill Wyman is an outstanding bass player. I was so sorry when he left the Stones.
Sour grapes. Fame and wealth are not as much fun as people think. They`re also a heavy burden and bring much unhappiness.
Regardless of what has happened besides Charlie Watts passing away and Bill Wyman retiring they’ve been together for over 50 years. It’s actually incredible!
There is a Rock n Roll band. One of the members left to pursue other things, and they all live happily ever after . THE END.
Bill is my favorite Stone..Very underrated bass player
And self-confessed serial pea dough
And Bill had more women than all of them put together fact
@@frankflanigan4013 He's a pea dough.
This is just a Long Winded Hit Piece on Mick Jagger.
You can take any member out of the stones and it can still pass but you can't take Jaggers iconic voice away without ruining the Rolling Stones
How many different ways can you keep saying the same thing?
Name me a band that never had an atmosphere of confrontation and loathing of each other at times. From this strange brew came GENIUS!
As good as Jagger is, he needed Keith and the others to make the Stones. Alone he was just another talented singer songwriter and control freak
Who also had moves that were simply SPASTIC!
I've read up on the RS' over several decades and yeah, he probably vied for control on every album but it came to a point where he had to as Keith and Brian were not stable enough to do all of the "business stuff". So his appearing to be a control freak was more or less a natural occurrence.. a logical outcome.
Without Jagger's Face, Voice and Personality the Stons would be nathing !
Get over Brian Jones! He chose drugs over talent. Who cares if he started The Stones. He couldn’t maintain.
Jones was the spark that started the fire 🔥 Ego took over then ! Brian needed to do drugs to put up with the moron Jagger 😅
@@richarddouglas1712 Tragically a creative life spent at the age of 27, and it wasn't the booze & drugs that killed him.
Jagger Richard's an Ronnie woods also drank and did drugs. They all did
It was a different style.

only thing iv heard is that jagger has the mr burns syndrome all about money to jagger boring money.
Just saw the Stones for the second time, 30 years apart, they still sound amazing.
The One-Mam-Show created the greatest rock and roll band. Who cares if Wyman is not happy now.
"Picture this Bill Wyman..." I'm picturing him. I'm picturing...
Wyman needs to realise that without Jagger he would just be a poor old man,who had a 13 yr old girlfriend.
Some Truth?
The lead singer is the face of the band which gives them power
Mick Jagger and David Bowie’s collaboration is one of the gayest videos I’ve ever seen😀
Except the one your father made with that goat.
Oooh. A little sensitive are we?
So you must be an unconditional fan.
Agreed. Silly AF ! ! ! These true artists taking cues from Madonna back then?!? Ya gotta shock'em , right?
The video wasn’t shocking. It was shocking maybe on a Village People level.
He has a ram= and Leo sheep sun, and a ram moon.. so yes he woke up every day ready for battle. At least he found an outlet for all that powerful energy.🎉
Mick’s voice was already shot, by 1970. That’s how far back , when I lost interest for the Stones.
HIS VOICE WAS NEVER SHOT ..YOUR MISSING OUT .
What Voice
Jagger never had a great voice
Yes, he could actually sing (a bit) in the early years. I still listened to them up to the mid 70s. I always figure that most people who actually like the decent cover band that they are now are just hooked on the Jagger swagger.
Same, I don't like any of their 70s stuff.
Bill is getting that Ed Wynn look goin' !
The 🎶 ended after the ❤ of The Rolling Stones was kick out! Brian's Passing was more than the End of an Era!
Brian was like George Harrison was with the Beatles! He was Stifled by others composing 🎶

Where is Bill's 12 year old wife these days?
Richards was not the co-founder of the Rolling Stones. The Founder of the Rolling Stones was Brian Jones!
The difference between Mick Taylor and Keith Richards is when playing the guitar Mick's fingers would move.
Nonsense Taylor was not in band for last time paint it black Elgar’s banquet sympathy solo was keiths
I heard that when Brian Jones was booted he wanted to take the name of the band with him. Because he chose the name Rolling Stones.
If you want to know The Skinny on The Stones, read Bill Wyman`s book: STONE ALONE.
Stopped likeing Jagger when he upstaged/disrespected Muddy Waters in a Chicago club. The rest of the Stones knew what to do and how to act at a Muddy Waters gig. Not Mick f'ing Jagger.
They were great in there day . That was forty years ago .
As the saying goes: "By the time you get old, you get the FACE you deserve."
I like the stones when they boozed and created good tunes . Not the corporate millionaire ones ..
Correction: emotionally UNSTABLE.
Classic bassist resentment....
NOTHING TO SEE HERE.
jagger is not a good snger
That's putting it mildly
And you're not a good speller !
His stage persona was a ripoff of James Brown
He looks like a clown with his chicken dancing
Everybody rips off somebody. Name the last original artist and I'll show you who influenced them.
Wyman and watts were the guys that held the band together, jagers ego cut people I can't stand him
And yet Jagger went to Lennon and McCartneys house not the other way round.
Mick thought he owned everyone.🥃😎
You left out his intent on destroying Brian Jones.
Luved Brian but he destroyed himself. Get ya facts right mate.
Luved Brian but he destroyed himself. Get ya facts right mate.
the way it is told to me ....
THE STONES WERE BEST WITH MICK TAYLOR ..BRIAN WHO ???
100% Jagger was so scared of Brian’s good looks and talent 👍
Mick is an easy target to attack, but if it wasn't for his song writing, singing voice and stage charisma we would have never heard of any of the other Stones.
С изключение на Кийт
FUUUKING GUY WAS NOT PERECT BUT HE WAS PRETTY GOOD

His bandmates were all pissed because he got the first pick in all the groupies
I thought Jagger and Bowie had the hots for each other. I think Jagger is a narcissist. I got tired of him and the Stones long, long ago.
Urban myth. Whether he did or not, Jagger, kind of like Prince, banged tons of women. I've read enough books and first hand accounts to tell you that's true.
