Alan, your Stones collection is absolutely incredible!! I love that your list was filled with unexpected picks. As we discussed the Stones have exquisite ballads that don't get much attention. I am also a big fan of "Almost hear you Sigh" may be the best song on Steel Wheels. Child of the Moon is another awesome song, has some kind of cool atmosphere. Anyway, rock on, I just love seeing your vast collection displayed which is unbelieveable.....!!
@@curlessmania4708 thanks so much Tom. Really appreciate it. Psyched to see your Black and Blue Undercover video.
Hi Mate What a great subscriber idea. Liking the new sign. Nice job. There is something about Jumping Jack Flash you are right. It also happens to be mine. Like most Stones tracks, there's way more going on than you'd think. As you rightly pointed out! "Tumbling Dice" was the first Stones single I bought. "Angry" grabbed me the same way "Start me up". Now I proudly said to my grandchildren last Christmas. This is why I love the Stones. Even my wife liked it and she was an original Beatles til I die fan. She was one of the crazys at London Airport that screamed at them when they came back from the US 60 yrs ago! Cheers Perry
Thanks Perry - I've probably seen her in the videos lol. Seriously how cool that she saw those scenes. I loved Angry as well. Outside my top 20 but yea I love that one too. Best, Alan
Stunning Stones´s collection!
Thanks so much - really appreciate it.
Quite a diverse top 20 !! A few from my list would be Saint of Me, She's So Cold, Love is Strong and my favorite Stones song,Tumbling Dice! Another thorough and interesting topic. Thanks. ✌️
Thanks so much. The new Shepherd's Bush has a good live version of Saint Of Me. Best, alan
Hey! I stumbled onto your channel today for the first time. What a great list! Heartbreaker is iconic to me, does not get enough airplay but brings back happy memories, even though it is a dark song. I still love Brown Sugar, you will never convince me it is racist or hurtful but I understand why some feel that way. To me it is just a story of the zeitgeist of that period in time, no harm intended. It is really a tribute, not misogyny. Not like a lot of music today which I won't get into.
Would add Monkey Man, Baby Break it Down, Dance Pt 1. Not sure they are considered singles, but tracks I never get tired of and always crank up
Thanks for your work, looking forward to more!
Thanks so much for tuning in. I'm so glad you liked the video. There's 400+ more and a Stones playlist for you to hopefully enjoy. I really appreciate it. Great stuff you chose. I was choosing singles so Monkey Man, Dance, Baby Break It Down wouldn't qualify, but great songs. Thanks again.
Great list, Alan. A couple of those non album tracks are new to me so I will have to check them out. Start Me Up is the only one you mentioned that has never done a lot for me. I can appreciate how catchy it is, and I do understand why a lot of Stones fans hold it in such high esteem, but it's never been a favorite of mine. Waiting on a Friend would probably make my top twenty instead. But yeah, the majority of that list are undeniably killer tracks!
Thanks Chris. Funny I came really close to substituting Waiting On A Friend for Start Me Up - I LOVE Waiting On A Friend. But yea - great choice. Thanks.
I should have added the following to my previous comment: Congratulations on reaching 3,000 subscribers! I’m sure that number will continue to grow as more and more UA-cam watchers discover the unique excellence of “The Alan Rosenberg Show.” Way to go, Alan!!
Thanks so much - I really appreciate it.
Cool video! I'm not all that familiar with a lot of Stones, but love many of their singles. I'll be checking out some of your favorites that I don't know, and hope to find some new treasures. When I was just a kid, also probably 10 or 9 years old, the first record I ever bought (at Woolworth's in College Point, Queens, and I'm pretty sure Mom bought it for me! 😁), was your number 3: Honky Tonk Women. So of course that one is MY favorite to this day. Ah, that swirling blue and white London label holds a special place in my musical memories heart. For some reason, I didn't get the picture sleeve with mine. Just a plain one. All these old 45's bring me right back to that time. I used to put the numbers on mine too! Haha. And fun stickers all over my record boxes. Take care!
Thanks Grumpy - I love it. I used to shop at Woolworths too - especially their cut-out section. Bought and discovered so many artists there. And yes the little number stickers.....me and you same generation. Fun to go back in time. and hey on another day Honky Tonk Women might be my #1 too. It's perfection after all. Thanks so much my friend.
That's a great top 20 Alan,. One of the few or only bands that you could even have a top 50!
@@markspooner1224 yea easily Mark. Tough to get down to 20. Thanks.
Great selections Alan!...…good to see I don't know why included. I was hoping for ghost town to be included on Hackney diamonds cd also. David
Thanks again David - yea - I was really hoping they'd include. I guess we will have to wait for another compilation with the same songs on it again, but get it for Ghost Town. Nice to see another fan of I Don't Know Why. Best, Alan

They play it and I love it !!
Happy Holidays to you
Thanks so much. Very cool list you present. It's Only Rock 'n' Roll is #1 - wow - that's interesting. Doom And Gloom is #2. wow. So thrilled to see Highwire at #4. Don't Stop and Saint of Me so high. wow - I so appreciate your diversity away from the "obvious". Yea - really cool list - thanks for sharing - Happy Holidays to you and your family. Best, Alan
Lady Jane was always one of my favorites in fact alot of deep tracks 'on the 60s and early 70s albums have always been my favorites.Factory Girl,Under My Thumb,Heartbreaker,Dead Flowers,Can't You Hear Me Knockin',She Smiled Sweetly,Amanda Jones so many good ones
Yes - and many of the ones you just said (example She Smiled Sweetly) show up on my favorite Stones go-to tracks video, because they weren't singles. As always Tom - you have great taste.....nice to se Heartbreaker there too....oh I love that song.
I guessed it right! Jumpin Jack Flash! And yes Child of the Moon is awesome! You should do a video of the best 3 songs from each era. Brian Jones era, Mick Taylor era and Ron Wood era. Oh and by the way thats not only a suggestion its a challenge lol.
Nice guess - I have a feeling many won't get it with songs like Paint It Black, Satisfaction, Get Off Of My Cloud and so many others - so nice job. Top 3 songs from each era. How do you cut the Stones era to top 3. I already chose my favorite Stones songs by era but not top 3 - If you go to that video Rolling Stones "go-to" Songs - there they are album by album in order. And I've created Spotify lists for them. But to limit to three. Do you know what my #1 Stones go-to song is.....you'll never guess.....It's actually Time Waits For No One. But do you know what I think is their greatest song ever.....Gimme Shelter. Anyway - thanks so much - very cool you guessed it. And yea - Child Of The Moon is AWESOME - glad you love it too.
How interesting that you chose mostly ballads as your top 20 singles from the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll band -from the original bad boys of decadence who rocked harder than any other band back in the early ‘60s and have continued to blow the roof off venues for the past six decades. It shouldn’t be surprising, though, as unlike any other hard rock band, The Stones have given us a seemingly bottomless treasure chest of gems that are ballads. Other hard rockers may put out “a few” excellent songs on the softer side, but nothing even close to the scale of The Stones. You have selected some classics that pull at one’s heartstrings no matter how many times they are heard, including “Lady Jane,” “As Tears Go By,” “Out of Tears,” “Play With Fire,” and “Almost Hear You Sigh.”One of my all-time favorite ballads by The Stones is “Tops.” I love everything about it. I think “Wild Horses” is magnificent. There are just so many superb singles by The Stones that I’d have to torture myself to narrow them down and rank them. How the truly great “Child of the Moon” remained relatively obscure is a mystery to me. It should have been a huge hit. “I Don’t Know Why” is a killer track from one of my more frequently-listened-to Stones albums. It’s nice to know you share my love for “Metamorphosis,” which all too often gets overlooked in discussions of The Stones canon.
@@ronalaurence4105 It really is true that great Stones ballads reach me to my core. And like you said Wild Horses is perfection. When I saw the recent Hackney Diamonds concert - that was the highlight of the show for me. My dream at this point would be to see a small Stones show of nothing but these incredible ballads because live they never do more than like two. Nice to see another fan of Metamorphosis - I still listen to it regularly. Amazing you listed Tops - surprise surprise but it's my go to track from Tattoo You. I think they played it once on the 1981 tour and dropped it. - Thanks as always.
I absolutely love "Has Anybody Seen My Baby". In my mind it's the sequel to "Miss You"
Thanks so much - nice to hear from a fellow fan who loves that song too. Best, Alan
Hey man Srirahul here
You pronounced my name perfectly.
But I honestly can not remember when I requested a top 20 Rolling Stones singles 😂😂
Which video did I comment that on??
But anyway my top 20 Rolling Stones songs are;
1)Angie
2)Sway
3)start me up
4)memory motel
5)Fool to cry
6)no use in crying
7)sister morphine
8)bitch
9)beast of burden
10)when the whip comes down
11)miss you
12)paint it black
13)wild horses
14)tumbling dice
15)brown sugar
16)jumping jack flash
17)gimme shelter
18)sleep tonight
19)hang fire
20)waiting on a friend
I enjoyed watching the video man
This morning or last name....crap....I guess I confused you with whoever that was....damn I'm tired. Well I'm glad you enjoyed it...Though Now I feel like a dope to whoever did ask me. Glad I got your name right - at least that is a plus. Great to see Angie number 1 - that's a shocker for most. Great songs there, but it was for singles - some there aren't but that's cool. Memory Motel is very near the top for me too - as a go-to track.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShowoh ok it’s ok man. I got confused when I was watching the video lol.
Because from my memory the only video I remember requesting was the pink flyod video for the “my first *blank* albums series”.
But I enjoyed watching this video a lot
Also I tried listing 20 singles but it was too hard. So I chose 20 songs instead.
@srirahulpremkumar1600 I remember the Pink floyd request too - I'll get there. No prob - you chose great songs anyway.
That was cool. Think I'm Going Mad?
Yea one of my favorites - Yea I probably should've shown the She Was Hot 45 - great cover and that amazing B-side - thanks - nice call out.
I have the Shelly Nov.'71 Hot Rocks with the Dec.'69 Muscle Shoals mixes for Brown Sugar and Wild Horses.
That's awesome - that version of Hot Rocks goes for a lot of money. I don't have it. If memory serves, it's the versions of Brown Sugar and Wild Horses from the Gimme Shelter....very cool.
Gimme Shelter, Paint it Black, 19th Nervous Breakdown would be in my top 10!
Gimme Shelter has always been my pick for greatest Stones song (and maybe greatest song ever)....wasn't a single though. Paint It Black of course is classic - in fact might be there biggest streaming song ever I believe. Breakdown of course is classic too but not amongst my very favorites. Thanks Larry.
I don't see my comment so if this appears twice, apologies. If you go to CD Japan, there is a CD version of Hackney Diamonds that contains a Japanese only bonus track - that bonus track is Living in a Ghost Town. It appears as track 13.
I did not know that. Interesting. I know the Japanese CD's often get a bonus track, but didn't know about Ghost Town. I do wish it had been part of Hackney Diamonds, even though it wasn't part of the albums sessions. Would've fit nicely on it too. Best, Alan
Child Of The Moon could very well be my favorite Stones song.
Yea - it's actually up there for me too. It's awesome and just lost on a B-side except they did put it on More Hot Rocks which was great.
I have a West Coast copy purple/white labeler of The Last Time, and the white London logo copy of Satisfaction.
@@ronmartin4212 super nice. Very cool
Didn't know "Like a Rolling Stones" had been a single, Alan. Arguably the best song by the best singer songwriter covered by the best rock band. Overall a fine choice of singles but the Stones have released so many good ones that a totally different list of 20 would please most fans.
It’s on the original Stripped album, also released as a single at the time.
@@JimMorrisonslizard Thanks! I've got the "Stripped" album but didn't realise it was released as a single.
You're right - another list of another 20 favorite singles would consist of more and more classics - there's so many. Thanks so much.
I'm surprised Miss You is not included.
In my top 5 definitely. JJF is my number 1 too
I appreciate Miss You. I enjoy it. But definitely not one of my favorites. I do prefer the 12" mix too.
My favourite song is “Move on”
I'm a bit slow James...lol. I'm not sure if you're making fun of me or choosing the Stone's song "You Better Move On". I actually love that song....
@ Yes sorry. I didn’t write the full title down. Not making fun of you at all.
@@jameshoyle5918 Wasn't sure...lol......Didn't know I you were saying I need to move on.....I get comments like that rarely but happens.....lol. Thanks so much. I do love that song. Great choice.
Great selection!, sadly many of the Columbia singles/45s were pressed on styrene.
I actually didn't realize that - I don't play them often, but did sound fine when I got them. Interesting.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Hangfire is one if my favorite deep singles, love Charlie's killer snare intro!
@@jasonpp1973 I came really close to putting that in the top 20 - would be in the top 30 for sure. Great track indeed - nice choice.
I like the flip of As Tears Go By better Gotta Get Away.
@@ronmartin4212 that’s a good one. Yep I really like Gotta Get Away. Always a bit similar to me with Singer Not The Song. Really good
Well, the versions on the Shelly Hot Rocks are actually not supposed to be the same as featured in Gimme Shelter, from what I hear, though. So there are actually 3 mixes of each, apparently.Havent seen the film,so I don't know those mixes.Wild Horses has the piano miked up more, and both songs are noticably different than the Atlantic mixes, for sure.11-18-71 on the side 4 dead wax is what to look for, though a few of the Shelly planters were actually corrected even with that date inscribed.Playing the songs will reveal the Dec.'69 Decca/London mixes. The differences are noticeable.
Yeah,Singer Not The Song is just about as good as I'm Free, which was on the US and the UK export 45s.The regular UK had Singer as the flip.
@@ronmartin4212 It's been a long time since I've heard it. I don't have that version of Hot Rocks, but have them on bootleg. I have to give them another listen. So cool that you have that. My local record store has one and selling for over $200. I don't need it that bad...lol
@@ronmartin4212 You know you're Stones - I've always really liked Singer Not The Song...actually even more than Gotta Get Away....
Great list, Alan. My #1 also. I have all the original U.S. sleeves and a few foreign sleeves. I am looking to sell them all. Are u interested? I could send you a list if so. Thanks.
Thanks so much Jim - really appreciate it. I'll pass but thanks so much again. Cool that you have them all though.
I needed a mother's little helper today. I haven't received my Laura Nyro box set yet. The company says it was sent but I didn't get it. It's gonna be a problem..... Why is Tumbling Dice in an ATCO sleeve?? Am I missing something?? My favorite single is probably Honky Tonk Women. Number 2 would probably be the song we can't say the name of anymore. You have a lot more Stones singles than I have. Next video do a close up on the sign your kids gave you. I want to get a good look at it.
That's the Madfish Nyro box right? I hope it comes better packed than my Wishbone Ash box which came damaged with a split - but I didn't send it back. Yea the ATCO sleeve was just an extra paper sleeve at the time. I should swap it out. Song we can't say the name of anymore? Is that BROWN SUGAR,,,BROWN SUGAR,,,,BROWN SUGAR,,,,BROWN SUGAR,,,,,,BROWN SUGAR.....there I feel better. Yes good idea about the sign - really nice and really cool.
@TheAlanRosenbergShow Yep. That Laura Nyro box is Madfish. I hope it eventually arrives. Poor packaging is a real pain in my ass. I can bitch about it for hours. Amazon is the absolute worst of the bunch. You are a lucky man, Mr. Rosenberg. I mailed another package the same day as I mailed yours. It is lost in limbo somewhere. I hate the post office too🤣😂🤣😂
@@davidkunzli680 I am lucky man. So true about Amazon packing - it's incredible how badly they ship.
Lady Jane, Play With Fire, Tell Me, Ruby Tuesday, As Tesrs Go By, child of the moon. Living proof that the Brian Jones years were the best in the singles era. And you missed so many others. (Rainbow, night together, satisfaction, under my thumb, we love you, etc etc). That versatility you speak of is really Brian’s legacy. Full stop
One other thing, the new sign from the kids, you need to put some kind of coloured paper behind it to make it readable and pop.
Thanks - not that I missed them - they all can't fit in my top 20. I'm gonna try the coloured paper idea. Thanks so much.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Maybe start each video focused tight into the sign and then go into your standard intro "Hi and Welcome to another edition of the Alan Rosenberg Show"
@@deeg8849 Interesting idea - I'll give it a try - thanks.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow kids who gave it would dig
