Catching MASSIVE crayfish in a flooded river

  • I caught my biggest crayfish ever last week. A new PB for me and it was massive.
It was a slow day crayfishing with lots of net checks resulting no crayfish at all, but then when I did catch a couple they were massive, in particular the big male crayfish.
I was using Goodos dry dogfood for bait, in stockings. This system seems to very for in the short term but after a while the stocking start to break open.
One thing that I love about crayfish is that it doesnt seem to matter if the river is high or flooded, or dirty, they still seem to bite when most finned fish shut down.

Thank you so much Emily. My focus has always been to "Focus on the fun aspect" of fishing. There's enough serious people out there without my input. Haha

@@robbiefishing awesome thanks for the quick response and the knowledge! I’m from the states and don’t really know my giant crayfish species so thanks again for the teaching! Have you ever seen the Tasmanian giant crayfish before?

@@psychedelicpsycho My pleasure mate. I have seen photos of them but have never actually seen one. I live in Victoria.
The giant Tasmanian crayfish is the biggest freshwater crayfish in the world, and these ones the Murray Crayfish are the second biggest I believe.

Thirsty cray having a sugar free drink. Yummo! Sugar free cola marinade from the inside out. Sounds like a nice dish.😁

    Damn those things are big.....
We have hawks that gather around our property in the spring just to dine on those things from a creek we have on our land....
The Hawks catch them and eat them on our picnic table and before all is said and done our table and ground is covered in shells.....
The hawks would really love to dine on those giants lol
