Catching MASSIVE crayfish in a flooded river
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2020
- I caught my biggest crayfish ever last week. A new PB for me and it was massive.
It was a slow day crayfishing with lots of net checks resulting no crayfish at all, but then when I did catch a couple they were massive, in particular the big male crayfish.
I was using Goodos dry dogfood for bait, in stockings. This system seems to very for in the short term but after a while the stocking start to break open.
One thing that I love about crayfish is that it doesnt seem to matter if the river is high or flooded, or dirty, they still seem to bite when most finned fish shut down.

Conservation should be the first thing we teach people about fishing! - you're using your reach to spread the right messages Robbie! Thank you .
Hi mate thanks so much for your support. 👍👍
sorry to be off topic but does anyone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb lost my account password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Walter Major Instablaster :)
@Nathan Emiliano thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Nathan Emiliano it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out!
Agreed with your comments about the future, that our kids inheritance what we leave behind.
So impressed that you were able to put those giants back, Bravo.
Ima go to that spot n catch em. Cook em also
👍👍👍👍👍
Congratulations! What a whopper. Agree whole heartedly with the lecture.
Hey Stuart thanks so much mate. I don't like to lecture on my channel but this is something that I am super passionate about.
Dude hurry up and catch the crabs!!!!!! We don't want to see your comments!¡!!!! Lol.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
I actually fell asleep for real 😸😸😸
@@sesetuiniua9588 the age of the millennial who think every idea they have is more important than what other's are talking about!!! PINHEAD & TROLL are the only words that explain your state of mind!? Instead of throwing muck, why don't you try and make interesting content????
Great video, and you're 100% right about the conservation of the fishery.
I wish we had this species in Louisiana... The boils would be something completely different than they are..LOL
I found a monster in New Jersey believe it or not. We’re waiting for it to grow and it’s been about two years since we’ve seen it but it definitely hasn’t left the spot where I found it.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep that in mind
Bravo. Very pleasing to see you release them.
Good for you Robbie that you concern yourself with tomorrow's fishing. I too always release the really big fish I catch. I am from southwestern Ontario, Canada and I am not aware of anyone around these parts ever crayfish fishing, we do have lots of crayfish though.
As always Robbie, great video and very timely and important message mate. Good to see the system is healthy and going strong and thanks to blokes like you, it will continue for years to come.
Thank you so much Sean. Preserving these amazing crustaceans is something that I am passionate about. I really hope that people always release these big breeders.
@@robbiefishing I do the same here in W.A with the big Marron.
I commend you for your sportsmanship..thanks for not throwing the animals back but a nice gentle release. Thank you sir.
... and down into the murky depths crawled the beast ... awesome :)
I’m glad they are protected. I love crawfish and glad to see them saved for the next generation
Well said Robbie, C&R is the way to go if you want fish/crays into the future. What a couple of absolute beauties!
Thanks mate, I agree 100%.
Who wouldn’t love to eat that beast but catching & seeing it in real life is worth it. To see it again price-less.
Hats off to you for releasing those big breeder crabbies. You have a lifetime of memories on video.
Ethical fishing and hunting, the way to go Robbie, well done mate. cheers take care and stay safe.👍
Excellent action mate! If only everyone would have that kind of forethought.!
Good lecture Robbie...well said...freshwater crays are seriously awesome looking creatures there should be a catch but no take limit...
Love that you put them back 👌💯🇬🇧🇬🇧
reminds me of the crayfish i use to catch in the creek in the yarra valley, use to walk up the creek and catch by hand. they were a lot smaller they were a bright blue.
Ripper mate! What a catch! Great work on the education at the end of the video too, so good to see.
Ah, a local!.
I enjjoy your videos very much, and thank you for sharing them.
Mick
Hi Mick, thanks so much for watching mate.
That's a lobster here in Seattle!
Everything grows big here in Australia mate. LOL
That's a lobster anywhere
@@archiebunker3686 except Australia
Love the attitude Putting them back was awesome. Luca
Thank you so much Luca.
You are such a good Fisher I love your UA-cam Channel And I went crayfishing yesterday
Good work Robbie!
Once upon a time crays that size were commonplace.
Good to see you spreading the word on returning the breeders.
Hopefully, that pair and their offspring have now populated that river well so that these full sized crays can become commonplace again.
Thanks mate. With the strict bag and size limits I am finding that I'm catching more and more oversized crays each year which is a great thing.
Love the explanation...Those two were really big
Congrats on the big Cray young felah, looks like nature's showing of to you. Be good and kind.
Thanks so much Greg. I love that saying "Be good and be kind" love it.
There is no way I would have waded through that water at this time of year, you're a braver man than I am LOL. That was an absolute dinosaur of a cray mate, it's wonderful to see that big male and female in the system! In the next few years you should see heaps of small ones in there. Well said about caring for the future of the waterway mate, it's something that not many people think about these days!
haha I love it.... mad as a cur snake. I true lunatic! LMAO Thanks heaps mate. What do they say "Walk the miles to get the smiles?" Well, my miles were a tad wet. LOL
Why . We swim in that and bring the Barbie all day long .
Your a funny man Robbie!! This is quality entertainment with an important message!! Really enjoy your vids mate.
Hi Ryan thanks so much mate. Haha Im a vout out there. My motto has always bmbeen to "focus on the FUN aspect of fishing". Im not convinced that wet wading in June is fun though. LOL
robbiefishing mate I appreciate what you do for us !!!
its such a thrill when you get a big one, keeper or not. great work mate, been a while since i've seen the river up like that.
Thanks Moose. Isn't it great to see. Rumour is that its going to flood big time in spring this year. Time will tell.
This put a smile to my face
On ya Robbie. Do the right thing mate!
I have seen photos from my dads day when they caught 100+ cod/ yella / trout in 1 trip, 40+ big cray, etc. Because of that, to this day I have never had a feed of cray.
Thanks Robbie !
That cray was huge, they’re a very impressive critter well done mate 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks so much Cam. They sure are a very impressive critter. I love them., Amazing creatures.
I just stumbled upon this video. Great video and message! Thank you!
Thank you so much for watching. 🙏
Catch and release! Good show! Have many babies!
I wish that we had that size of crayfish here in Western Washington 🇺🇸! I just received this video on UA-cam today!
Thank you so much for watching. 🙏 They sure are amazing to catch.
finally . someone who gets it
Caught one 2 days ago at Goulburn river very massive too, accidentally hooked on my rod I had to chuck it back because I was aiming for a cod😬, keep up the good work budd.👍🏼
Hi mate thay sounds really awesome. Thanks so much for your kind words. 👍👍

Thanks so much David. Such a beautiful prehistoric creature.,
Your a good smart man hope others learn how things work as you have
Thank you so much William.
Worth every minute ☺
Thank you so much mate.
I love montage of the crayfish pictures
Lol. The ol' "tracky dack" waders trick.
Robbie, there are many things I enjoy about your vids, two of them are ;
1. the lack of an American accent and
2. that you don't continuously repeating yourself, (probably the same thing as the first.)
Can’t help but laugh while watching this video. So funny😂😂😂
Learnt what ‘oversize’ meant👍
Haha thanks. Yep, we definitely have a maximum size limit to protect the breeders.
A true conservationist in action. Well done mate
Wow, what an absolute whopper, Robbie 😮 Amazing 🤩
Love the videos man keep it up, love the shorts by the way
Thanks mate
Go Robbie love the video keep up the good work
What a mammoth of a cray great catch mate

Hahahaha 😅🤣😂
Great video Robbie I really enjoyed that and WOW that's a huge Cray imagine that's getting a hold of your finger hahaha
Thanks mate. Haha that wouldn't hurt that much would it. LOL
Great catch there mate. keep up the great work
Hey Ed, thanks so much mate.
Monsters love it.
Shame you didn't get a feed though.
Top work mate, too many people are greedy and take just about anything without any care for future stocks.
You and I could happily go fishing 👌
Wow, I've been catching Crawdads here in North Georgia for 4 decades and I've never seen one that size, looks more like a lobster, Thanks For Sharing and GL&HH
Here in Australia we have more than a few species of yabbies and this one is a Murray spiny crayfish
Great vid
that was huge, well done mate and great video
Hi mate thanks so much for watching.
And another bloody good video mate, keep the good work up
Hey buddy thanks so much mate.
Another great video
Nice always good to see a big cray
Thanks mate, I agree. Especially when I pull my nets up and see the massive white claws.
Nice pins Robbie 👌
That thing is massive! Only crayfish I've seen that got that big. got big for a reason, it was double jointed and could turn it's claws backwards to get you.
I hope to not get hated on for my terminology, but you can see the bust ups behind you while your setting up the nets. Love your work, I'm hitting the bush the weekend, I'm excited 😁
Haha thanks mate. Good luck on the weekend.
You sound like such a fun guy to fish with
nicely dug release point, minimal damage
Haha great stuff mate. 14cm massive !! Really enjoyed it 👍 thanks brother
Hey champ, thanks so much mate.
G'day Robbie m8, ur a tru blue good bloke! (and a little bit of a nutter) ty for the video it cheered me from a bad place tyvm!, and wow what a prehistoric beauty!
Hey buddy It makes me happy to know that I cheared you up, but sad to know that you were in a bad place. I hope you're OK mate.
As for me being a nutter..... well I can't argue with logic. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😅
Very nice crayfish
Thanks mate. 👍👍
What a monster robbie, hopefully that one can produce a few legal ones in the coming years
Thanks James, I really hope so too mate.
Great u let it go! What a monster! It has been a while since i took fish home. Let them keep up numbers.
Absolutely Bob. I keep some, but it's all about sustainability. It's not ogten I keep a fish.
Awesome I spend a lot of time catching them myself but nothing that big
Congratulations Robbie. That was a ripping Cray. I agree with you 100%. Its the same with big fish mate. Let them go to repopulate the future.👍👍🍻🍻❤️❤️
Thanks Julian, absolutely mate. If we can resist the temptation to keep the big ones there will always be plenty for everyone to share.
I agree Robbie.
Wow..
Nice catches
Thanks heaps mate.
You definitely don’t need maths if you are funny and handsome! Love your attitude, your channel reminds me of going yabbying as a kid!
Thank you so much. I have been called funny before, but this handsome business is a new one. Thank you so much... it actually feels good to receive a nice compliment like that.
Oooooo my daughter and I were thinking of ways to get into water other then boots…. Water proof socks it is!!! Thanks for the fashion statement.
Haha thanks mate. I love my Seal Skins.
GREAT pair of Pricklies Robbie! My cousin still holds the record as far as I know! Cheers!
Thanks UF. WOW that's awesome. Do you know what the record measured?
@@robbiefishing I asked dad, he wasn't sure, but both speciemens he caught were well over 5 lbs! (Sorry, answered from the wrong account!)
Great catch Robbie... just an idea I reckon you should go back there and chase carp because you saw that splash when you where crossing that flooded part of the river.
Thanks Jack, but thay water in that atea has all gone now that the riv3r has gone down.
The most prehistoric of all creatures. So beautiful!
I've never known anyone to be bitten by one when swimming. Has anyone?
I've never heard of it happening either mate.
Love it! I have next week off, school holidays, I am taking my daughter up the Murray to Torrumbarry. Never been there I'd reckon the river will be a tad high looking at your river! Anyway I'll drown some bait and see what is hungry!
Thanks Les. You are having a blast up there too. Greay to see.
Torrumbarry is a good spot! 1/2 way between Cohuna and Kerang.
@@Urbanfisho Ditto that!
Check OUT the fish ladder there as well!
Love this man
Thanks heaps mate.
@@robbiefishing WOOOAAAHHHHH i got a reply. Thank you so much. Be safe and good health to your family from NZ🇳🇿🇳🇿🇭🇲🇭🇲. Come over the ditch when its all safe and ill show you where the big trout are.👍👍👍
I love you man. No hemo. It good how you educate peeps about how to not make these crayfish extinct so how kids and grand kids be able to enjoy. I’m Asian American 🇺🇸 you need to help these southeastern Asian country to do the same. I’m not a liberals by the way.Trump always 2020
Good bass bait.
Great logic so i had to subscribe. Hi from England brother
Thank you so much mate.
gr8 photography on that monster! haha reminds me of a kaiju haha
Haha thanks so much mate.
New subscriber right here!! Watched a few and love them plus your hilarious 😂 can’t believe how big the crayfish are! Here in England the tail meat is about half my little finger
Thank you so much Emily. My focus has always been to "Focus on the fun aspect" of fishing. There's enough serious people out there without my input. Haha
@@robbiefishing couldn’t agree more! Even told my dad about this channel so he will be watching too he loves fishing!
Catch & release 👍
Really glad you put that back! I’m pretty sure that’s a Tasmanian giant freshwater crayfish! They are very endangered!
Hey mate that is a spiny Murray Crayfish from Australia.
@@robbiefishing awesome thanks for the quick response and the knowledge! I’m from the states and don’t really know my giant crayfish species so thanks again for the teaching! Have you ever seen the Tasmanian giant crayfish before?
@@psychedelicpsycho My pleasure mate. I have seen photos of them but have never actually seen one. I live in Victoria.
The giant Tasmanian crayfish is the biggest freshwater crayfish in the world, and these ones the Murray Crayfish are the second biggest I believe.
Thirsty cray having a sugar free drink. Yummo! Sugar free cola marinade from the inside out. Sounds like a nice dish.😁
What a behemoth, good one.
Thanks mate, wasn't it ever! You could hear the excitement in my voice when I pulled that net up. LOL
Bravo.
wow what a beast!
Thanks mate, wasn't it ever!
We hav'nt had rain for ages the last time it flooded we went fishing and caught heeps of redfin and yellowbelly
Damn those things are big.....
We have hawks that gather around our property in the spring just to dine on those things from a creek we have on our land....
The Hawks catch them and eat them on our picnic table and before all is said and done our table and ground is covered in shells.....
The hawks would really love to dine on those giants lol
In Tasmania we have the biggest freshwater crayfish in the world wholly protected and a big no no to catch - freshwater crayfish in Tasmania = jail time 😃😀great catch Robbie and great life lessons for everyone 👍
What a beast of a cray, bugger swimming in that water 😬 😳
Haha it wasn't what I would call warm. 🤣🤣🤣
There's a reason i keep my feet up when floating down the bidgee. There's claws in them waters
Its a freaking monster
You need to bust out some waders mate! Lol. The perils of cray fishing
hahaha I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a single pair of waders on earth that fit me. LOL At the same point, I hate the restrictive things. LOL
