You are and absolute legendary gem to Australia Robbie i love your content it always put a smile on my face and a positive feeling inside even when i am suffering a bad day like today
Thank you so much for your kind words mate. I really hope that you have a better day tomorrow. It all gets a bit hard some days doesn't it!
@robbiefishing yeah its does thank you so much . Caring people like you make the world a much better place to live in
What I like about your videos they down to earth and its something everyone can afford to do instead of super expensive fishing trips which most videos are nowda6s keep up the great shows mate
Thanks so much for your kind words Wayne. I couldn't film those expensive trips even if I wanted to.... Because I can't afford it. LOL 😂
@robbiefishing I know that feeling where I live it's mainly beach fishing but I love yabbying and river fishing
My wife enjoy your yabbying videos when I play them on the big tv.
Thanks so much for your great feedback mate. I bet she could do a better job at cooking them than I can though. LOL
Another great day because Robbie posted
Thank you so much for your kind words mate.
Gotta love the yabbies I could smell them through the screen .
hahaha Thanks Grumpy. They sure are amazing tucker mate.
Great video, Robbie. I’m loving the catch and cooks 😊
Thanks so much Tubby. I'm really enjoying filming them lately.
YABBY CATCH AND COOOOOOK. Lovely Robbie. The yella I cooked was bloody lovely, I just had it. Hopefully the video will be up soon, whether it’s today or tommorow. Thanks Robbie, have a good one.😂
Thanks buddy. Yellowbelly is my favourite fish to eat.
I reckon me too mate. Cooked to perfection.
Thanks Robbie
Love different recipe your invitation and different ingredients always trying something new well done
I believe in the 5 second rule and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger 😅😅😅😅 great video.
Haha thanks Vincent. I do too, except when the floor it falls on is pure dirt. LOL 😂😂
Yummo Robbie, they looked delicious. I hope you didn't forget your salad roll, could have made a nice yabby & salad roll, ha ha ha , good job Bro. cheers buddy, take care and stay safe. 👍
Thank you so much Imo. Haha I ate the salad roll about an hour later. LOL
I learn so much from these vids! Love it, keep it up!
Thank you so much Minny..
Always a good bush snack!
Great video Robbie there was a fishing tournament on near me today I went down and the bite window you always talk about is true it was proved today I didn't catch anything but the people next to us caught ten.
WOW mate, it's so frustrating when that happens. Haha
That looked delicious mate, I'm very much looking forward to getting some yabbies for myself after watching that. Looking at that creek I reckon there's some monsters in there! Well done on your feed
Thanks mate, I reckon there is too.
The best thing about it being mid October is that we've still got 6 months of yabbying ahead of us. Haha
Nice!🎣
Wish I'd known de veining 45 + yrs ago , what a great technique thanks for that
Thanks mate, it only works when you kill them before cooking such as this video, but is an absolute game changer when it comes time to shell them.
Great video mate I will have to try that way of cooking yabbies lucky I went and caught a few today cheers for the video mate
Thanks so much Michael. These were beautiful. I preferred them like this over the crumbed ones that I cooked last time.
I will be sure to give it a go mate looks great
See I told you I’m going to watch your catch and cook again 🤗🥳
haha Thanks Sharon. Hopefully you are looking for ideas because you just caught a stack of big yabbies.
Hello rob
You said ...
" WE " are having yabby for lunch ?.....
I'm on my way rob 🤣
Well done mate and thank you ...
Hope your all in good form ..
😜🏴
Haha thanks so much Mike. These were amazing mate. 👍👍
G'day Robbie, Great video. I caught a dozen big nippers at Crusoe #7 res in Bendigo. Had em on GF day in pepper, butter, garlic n rosemary straight off the bush.Great way to eat inland prawns. As you say ......Absolutely beautiful. Cheers Mate 👍
Thanks so much mate, they sound amazing.
Yum robbie, awesome video like usual. I'll get out when the dies down.
Thanks so much mate.
Woo Hoo yabby catch n cook
Thanks for sharing as always Mate! Love the catch and cooks, maybe time to get the Tandoor out again soon :)
Thanks Robert, I definitely need to get the Tandoor out again..haha
Hay very good video me and my mates caught 30 carp in the middle of Numurkah. If you want to catch a lot of carp that is a good spot.
Thanks so much mate. I am actually heading over that way to fish at Nathalia in a couple of weeks.
I crossed the Broken Creek near Katamatite on Friday and it was high and filthy, so there is some very dirty water coming your way mate, if it isn't there already.
My family and I went to Numurkah back in winter to photograph the bat colony. Have you seen it? WOW While we were there, the creek was super low and we watched the spoonbills picking off carp one after another. haha
I wonder what they use to eat before carp came along? LOL
Your catch and cooks always leave me hungry. We are into our hunting seasons here so no water time. Don't want to foul up anyone's hunt. But spring will come after the holidays and the crays will be a bit bigger. Thank you for sharing your day by the water.
Thank you so much mate.
G’day Robbie, I’ve just come back home after staying with family in the Riverina, lovely place.
Great video and well done mate. The old catch and cook is always great 👍🏼
Thanks so much Wayne. Where abouts roughly in the Riverina were you? This was up near Jerilderie.
@@robbiefishing I was just a little bit further north than you. I was at Ganmain and coolamon
Loving the catch and cooks mate, beutiful spot to eat aswell
Thanks mate. It's a beautiful area outback NSW. Very dry and arid, but I love it.
@robbiefishing i have these nets. I found that they rock over how they come factory tied on top. Tie the line one of the corners as it will drag better and not flip
Thanks mate, what an excellent idea.
Cool video buddy 👍👍👍🤠
Thanks so much mate.
Nice feed!
Thanks Frank. One of these days I will catch a heap of yabbies and cook them like this. A bulk cook up of Peppered Yabby Tails.
Omg mate not again… Cooking videos when I am starving lol. Love a good feed of yabbies old chap. Ps is that a sea to summit frying pan you’re using??
Thanks Camels. Yes mate, I am pretty sure that it is. It's a ripper, but quite expensive. Sorry about making you hungry. haha Sorry not sorry. LOL
I am always hungry.. I am getting 1 of those pans for my moto camping adventures 😀
In South Australia we can catch and release cod all year round in reservoirs. In rivers it catch and release from January to July.
Thanks so much Geoff. For some reason I thought it was open all year round statewide now. Leaving them open in lakes and closed in rivers makes sense to me, but catch and release only certainly doesn't. That is one step closer to a total ban.
Even if they had a bag limit of 1 they should still be open, with top up stocking to compensate for fishing pressure.
Good one mate looked a good feed too👍👍👍👍👍👍 we have closed season and closed waters for Mary river cod here in qld the river I fish is closed until end of October
Thanks Cam. That is very interesting. Even when the river re-opens I think the Mary River cod are totally protected aren't they? Or am I wrong?
@@robbiefishing not sure and my fisheries app isn’t working they do get Murray cod over the divide and some dams I think the rivers have similar closures out there
Nice Robbie!!
As referring to the SA and QLD regulations. SA is at least a decade behind on VIC for cod recovery. A certain area is close from 1st august-31st December for C and R while some spots are open year round for C and R.
QLD is a lot more relaxed. 1st august-1 October, 2 daily limit with a 60cm size limit (no max limit).
Victoria’s recovery program for the cod is soo much better than the NSW one. The numbers are crazy in Victoria!
Hey mate thanks so much for clarifying. You're not wrong about SA. I really feel the SA anglers.
Robbie mate, at 21:25 you accidently dropped a yabbie claw onto the ground without noticing. I kept catching glimpses of it afterwards and just bugged me something shocking haha.
hahahaha Sorry about that. I actually dropped 2 tails as well which I was so annoyed about. I should have taken a small table with me.
For South Australia Murray Cod fishing in the Murray river and Lakes Albert and Alexandrina is closed between 1st August to 31st December, outside of this time all Murray cod are catch and release only.
you can however fish for Murray Cod in the reservoirs all year round but again it is strictly catch and release as Murray cod are a fully protected species in SA.
Thanks mate. I thought they completely scrapped the closed season all together when they banned the take of Murray cod? I could be wrong, and it seams too stupid for words, but I remember all of the flack the SA government copped when they announced there would be no closed season. You are the second person that has told me this so perhaps I am wrong.
I really flinch when I see you put grass in like that just waiting t you see ouch haha. Thats some great yabbies mmmmmmm yummy
Haha thanks mate. I will know all about it if one grabs me. LOL
@@robbiefishingI have a big night ahead of me catching up all the videos I've missed I just came back from blowing dam trout fishing
Yummo
Aussie bush GOURMET!
Haha yep.
Well you can’t get much fresher than that (unless you are going to try sashimi yabbies 😂) . Nice one Robbie
Thanks mate. I reckon sashimi yabbies would have to come with a few health risks. Haha 😂
been watching your vids for years, realised I hadnt subscribed. LOVE YABBIES! as a kid I used to catch shrimp by sitting in the water and waiting for them to nibble me, I was the bait lol
Thanks mate. Haha It drives me mad when they come and walk all over my feet. LOL 🤣🤣
if you get down to SA I have some great secret spots@@robbiefishing
🎉🎉🎉🎉
South Australia does have a closed season.
Are you sure? I thought they scrapped it last year?
Hey Robbie,
What do you think about the sea to summit frypan ?
I’ve been looking at one but it maybe to thin and prone to buckling and probably can’t be used on a fire.
Cheers
Peter 🎣🍻
Hi Peter,
I've only had it a few weeks. It's a great little frying pan, but it has warped a little bit in the centre.
The centre has raised slightly, meaning any butter or oil moves to the sides.
That could be because the burner that I'm using with it is very small and blasts heat to the centre.
It's hard to imagine a pan that is so light the doesn't buckle and bend. Haha
I clean up at tullaroop 11 redfin not big 10 carp, 1 tench ,1trout small rainbow on compost worms ,Sunday 1 small redfin and drop a thumping big yellowbelly on soft plastic
WOW sounds awesome, well done mate.
Robbie I got two questions
Where are you fishing?
And how do you always find these good spots?
Hi mate, I am in outback NSW on this occasion. I won't say exactly where because I need to be mindful of the locals that probably treasure this spot. As for finding these spots, as I mentioned near the start of the video I am just driving around looking for places. I crossed a few bridges and really liked the look of this spot, so I gave it a try.
This was actually the second spot that I tried. I tried another spot first and did not do any good. It is all trial and error.
😊 great 👍 catch and cook Robbie!! Thanks for sharing greatly enjoyed and appreciated. Hahahaha looks like you didn’t forget anything. 😊😊
haha Thanks so much Kristy. I didn't forget anything, but wish I had of taken a small table. Maybe next time I will do that!
i see now how you do the poo line how i explained to do it....... i don 't know if you knew or not but it makes it alot easyer than trying to cut it out with a knife
Sure does mate it easier mate. I definitely knew it, and have done it several times on this channel in older videos. I appreciate you offering your helpful tips though. Thank you. 👍👍
I'm just wondering where you get them types of gas bottle from I've been looking for them I can get the long ones for the camping stoves but not for the gas bottle burner top
Hi mate, I bought mine at Adventure Camping and Fishing in Wangaratta.
If you call them, they may be able to take a phone payment and post them. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they do.
@@robbiefishing thanks for that mate
I’ve actually never seen that deveining technique before, gonna give it a crack next yabbie hunt
Thanks mate, I don't think it works as well with cooked yabbies as it does with raw yabbies though. It is a great trick.
Very interesting vid Robbie, I could almost taste your yabbies, in view of your Aussie laws re carp, have you tried cooking and eating them. I'd give it a go but here in the UK it's a big NO NO, laws say you can't and some of the carp boys would have your guts for garters but I know the Eastern European 'visitors' take anything and by any method including snagging, of course, they get away with it, take care and thanks, Norfolk, UK, Ray
Thanks so much for watching Ray. I know all about your "Carp boys". LOL They often call me every horrible name imaginable because I kill them. They don't understand our laws. LOL
I have eaten a few mate, but they're pretty horrible. I have tried several ways. Filleted, and cooked in my Tandoor Oven is the nicest, but the bones are just horrendous.
If if wasn't for the bones, I could eat it occasionally.
They stink when filleting them, although once the skin is gone it's all good..
robbie...it would have been more fun watching you catch them with string and meat👍👍but...thats because i remember the fun of it as a kid
just curious whats the purpose of putting grass in with the yabbies in the bucket?
Hi Drew, it stops the yabbies from killing each other, and also allows them to climb up and get oxygen from the air if they need to.
Bugger about the 2 big ones but awesome catch and cook vid! 🙂
Thanks mate. Yeah I know right. I need to remember to take a rake with me to help lift them on a better angle.
@@robbiefishinggood idea. Yeah, only downfall lol
Peppered tails sounds good to me mate. With a bit of salt.
Absolutely beautiful they were mate.
Quickly put the net back in, not a second to lose haha.
hahahaha I always say that. LOL
The lures in the tacklebox would work well in saltwater as well.
All Queensland fresh waters in the Murray-Darling Drainage Division have a Murray cod closed season - 1 August to 31 October. This closed season does not apply in Beardmore, Connolly, Cooby, Coolmunda, Glenlyon, Leslie and Storm King dams.
There stricter limitations on the Mary River cod, which is listed as an endangered species. With big fines attached to them.
Losing a couple of tails to the floor is a bit of a tragedy really. Sad stuff :(
Thanks mate, I did not realise that. Thanks for clearing that up.
I'm hungry!
Haha sorry about that Bruce. LOL
Do you ever cook the head? We usually cook the head it has great juices.
Hi mate, no I don't know anybody here that does. I know in America that crawfish heads are eaten, but I've never heard of anybody eating the yabbys heads.
Give it a try. Boiling them whole adds flavor due to all the head fat content.
Trying to think of a better way to cook the yabby tails and i dont think there is. Might be nice to mix them into some nice pasta.
Thanks mate, they sure were great.
You didn’t bring any salt? Butter and Garlic with them?
I had salt, but no butter or garlic.
14:05 wouldn't it rot your socks off ... a minute later you would've got those two !
Haha I know right! Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. LOL
Do yabbies pick up pollutants ? Some of the parks in Melbourne would be a bit sus I reckon
I honestly have no idea sorry mate. If I was concerned I would keep them alive in fresh clean water for a few days before cooking them.
Good question mate.
Do you yabbys taste like lobsters. Horsey sause sounds good for fish and yabbys.God bless.friends.
Thanks Becky. Yabbies are beautiful eating. The flesh seems to be firmer and sweeter than most other shellfish. They are amazing.
God bless you too. 🙏
Peppered tails mmmm I recommend garlic an reel butter with salt next time.. Was we're was Ferryl Berryl...? Still in bed...? 😂
haha Feral Berry was at school. LOL This was filmed on Friday just gone. The reason I use oil instead of butter is because I can leave it in my plastic container with my cooking gear. Next time I am hoping to take some garlic butter instead though.
Put rope on bottom of net mate 👍
Thanks mate. Great idea. Someone else's also suggested this. 👍
It will make it much easier to retrieve, but harder to throw out.
Come and get it with Peter G'day Russell G'day Clark😅
G'day. Haha I use to watch him every night while waiting for Inspector Gadget to come on at 6pm on ABC. LOL
@@robbiefishing quicker than Maccas drive through old Pete, now I've got inspector Gadget song stuck in my head onya Robbie😆👍🏻
@@hairyscary8511 hahahaha
Give a man some yabby's you feed him for a day. Teach 73K people how to yabby feed us for a lifetime.
haha Thanks mate. I hope you all go out and catch a lovely feed of yabbies just like this one.
SALAD ROLL? BANH MI: AM I A JOKE TO YOU?
Hahahaha I thought I might try something different. LOL 😂
@@robbiefishing ;o)
What's this green stuff? 🤣🤣🤣
I don't know but I'm guessing it's something healthy. Haha 😂😂
Always take bacon
Hahaha Bacon fixes everything. 😂😂😂
Seeing as the Italians are not complaining about your pronunciation of carpio I think you should make a yabbio pizziio and see if they like it..! Yaaaay I would Robbie.
Yummo, doesn't that sound amazing. haha The reason I call them that it because the scientific name of a European Carp is Cyprinus Carpio. LOL
