Risky Seafood Feast🇵🇹 Rodízio de Marisco Experience in Portugal🧐
Hello Amigas and Amigos🫡
Happy New Year, everyone! 🎉 Today we’re sharing our last video from Cascais, as we’re moving to Leiria, and we can’t wait to bring you more videos from there soon👀
This video was filmed at the end of last year when we decided to eat the famous Rodízio de Marisco in Cascais. It’s a big seafood platter with lots of different dishes, and we were excited to eat it!
We had cold shrimp, hot shrimp, clams (ameijoas), crab (sapateira), mussels, crab legs, snails, and oysters. The meal started with bread, olives, and sardine pâté, and we enjoyed it all with a bottle of Portuguese wine.
Unfortunately, they didn’t have goose barnacles (percebes) that day, as they’re caught fresh by local fishermen, and none were available.
Here’s what we ate:
➡️ Starters - Bread, olives, sardine pâté. Simple but very Portuguese!
➡️ Cold and hot shrimp - Fresh and delicious.
➡️ Clams (ameijoas) and mussels - The clams in garlic sauce were especially tasty. As always😁 Love them!
➡️ Sapateira (stuffed crab) and crab legs - The stuffed crab had a rich filling, and the crab legs were fun to crack open.
➡️ Snails - At first, they were good, but some tasted strange. One had a green texture and mucus, which wasn’t great😬
➡️ Oysters - We had to sign a waiver before eating them. Sadly, this is where things went wrong. We both got food poisoning, probably from the oysters or snails. So upcoming week was fun🤢
We’ve been to this place before and usually loved it, but this time was different. Still, it was a fun experience, and the seafood was good overall.
Thank you for watching our Cascais adventure!
Stay tuned for new videos from Leiria - we’re excited to explore this beautiful part of Portugal and share more with you soon. Also, location videos will be coming. It's been a while 😎

I know 🙂 This wasn't the best place, since now we are in Leiria, we will film the Leitão da Boavista episode🫡 I hope I pronounced it correctly🇵🇹
it was so amazing hearing you speaking a language from eastern europe i assume!
That was Russian. Since we are from Latvia, and it was formerly a Soviet country, it is commonly spoken in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and Ukraine👌

it's so nice you guys teach your daughter to speak perfect english and she does, how many languages does she speak?
Actually she speaks better than us in English, since she went to international school for 3 years. Now, she is already in Portuguese school for 3 weeks🙂🇵🇹 Speaks 3 languages, next is Portuguese🙂 We all learn from her school materials and that works pretty good😁
Go to MC Donalds

Wellcome to Portugal. I'm sure you'll find a nice plot or an old house to fulfill your dream. There are lots of places in the country but you need to look for. I wish you and your family all the happiness.
For now, we have moved to Leiria and are looking around here, but the price increase has reached Leiria too. Thank you for the wishes; we are not in a hurry and will look for the perfect land to live on in this magnificent country🙂🇵🇹
Thanks for your video. I can give you some important knowledge about Nisa. I was born there. You missed a lot because you didn't go to the tourism office in order to get some information about the village. Nisa is a very old village. It' s name was given by settlers coming from Nice (France) in 1199. A Portuguese King (D. Sancho I) asked Order of the Templar to bring settlers from the south of France in order to populate the place and defend the territory. Later they built a fortress (you were there). You also visited The Community Oven where each woman cooked bread and cakes for her family. You walked on Rua de Santa Maria (a tribute to the famous art of Nisa The Embroidery Clay). It was a pity you didn't visit The Embroidery and Clay Museum, The Story House, The Museum of Arts and Crafts. About your comment on seeing anybody, the reason was the 41 degrees. Everybody was at home or working. If possible visit Nisa again in Spring or in Autumn and spend some minutes with local people. I'm sure you'll enjoy. Thanks and good luck.
Thank you for all this information👍 We just moved to different city and Nisa is lot closer now, so we will definitely revisit. It's been a while and I have really good feeling about it🙂🇵🇹
i love the way you say Obidoss!🤣
Wrong?😁
Portugal is very beautiful!!😍
Today, I went to one place (we moved to Leiria, by the way), saw mountains in the distance, and thought-wow, Portugal even in daily life offers so much🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹 Portugal is incredible💯
Beautiful town, we bought a place here 3 years ago and can't wait to move here permanently, also you are correct about Tudo na Brasa having the best chicken around.
@BobPereira71 Happy for you, really cool place and very peaceful 🙂👍 The chicken is the best and I've tried a lot of chicken in Portugal🇵🇹 See you around🫡
you should not eat sardine bones
Yep, now we are smarter 😁
i love the waiter at 20:30 he's a typical portuguese with no pacience🤣
So far the best waiter in Portugal 😁🇵🇹

I want to give a big shout out to you and your channel. Wow, thank you for the wishes and motivation! Appreciate👌 So you've been to Lisbon a couple of times, I see😁 Congrats on your book, and it would be nice if you could share where it is available. Take care and see you around 😎🇵🇹

Is there any place in portugal that you can actually swim in hot springs pools?
@@nandonando4421 I have not been myself to any place, but from what I found online there are couple of places, where you can just swim and relax. Caldas de Chaves (Chaves, Northern Portugal), Caldas de Monchique (Monchique, Algarve) Ponta da Ferraria (São Miguel Island, Azores), Poça da Dona Beija (São Miguel Island, Azores), Parque Terra Nostra (São Miguel Island, Azores) 🫡
Hi Andre, for a Latvian in Portugal I like your videos. My wife has been texting you. I’m Portuguese living in Canada but now retired😎👍 and moving to Portugal! Sao Martino do Porto is my place to go and live, small beautiful bay, and the ocean on the other side, and close to a lot of major cities, and Lisbon to the south. Keep up the good work, drone work is by far excellent! maybe we’ll meet one day and have a great dinner together… all the best moving to Leiria👌👍😎
@EdwinCabral-no6um Hey Edwin 👋 Thank you! São Martinho do Porto is an amazing location; we really liked it there. Actually, my friend is going to look at a property today, so if he stays there, I will also be a frequent guest😄 From Leiria, it is also very reachable, around 20-30 minutes.
I'm jealous right now...
😄👍
You should try São Martinho do Porto
Been, seen 🫡 There is a video available from that place👌 Loved it there!
Why the clickbait title? Risky? Only if you are allergic to seafood.
No clickbait. I already answered someone in the comments, but here's a shorter version. Maybe you only watched part of the video. The restaurant warned us the oysters might be contaminated. We ignored the warning and took a risk to eat them. Then, I ate a second snail; it had mucus or some other slimy substance. It felt wrong, but I ate it anyway. The next day, we both had food poisoning. That's why the title.
Hello, do you permission to go live in my hometown? 😉 The Crab you ate it's called Sapateira and those were it's legs. The Sapateira paste is made with its interior mixed boiled egg, mayonnaise, pickles and spices. The snail you ate it's called Búzio and you don't eat the last part (the poop). All the best to you all.
@@luisalves3723 Hahaa, you mean to Leiria? 😁 When I first visited Leiria, I went home and said to my wife that I want to live there and now half a year later - we are here 😄 Love your hometown 💯🇵🇹 And thank you for info on Sapateira and poop part, I chewed it and hoped that it's not poop 🤣🤣🤣
@@millionplacesoneworld Yes, Leiria. That part it's the intestine. 😅
@luisalves3723 Well, then I ate that. Hopefully, no long-term effects will come after😂
To eat sardines you remove the big middle one and eat the rest like you did.. the bread served with sardines traditionally in the summer festivals is cornbread "Broa de milho".
@@acceleratum Thanks Tiago for instruction🫡 Until this day haven't tried with Broa and these guys didn't had any Portuguese bread. So sardines with broa de milho is still on the To Try List 👌
@@millionplacesoneworld Just trying to help, you genuinely seem to enjoy our food and Id like you to enjoy it properly, Visit the north for all the meat dishes, seems right up your alley.
Only one thing I've never understood to its core is where the real north of Portugal starts🤔🇵🇹
@@millionplacesoneworld well.. I might start a civil war but we of the north usually say above the Douro river , so Porto and above. In terms of regions it's Minho and Tras os montes.
Okay, thanks👍I think in one of my videos I said that I always liked the more northern part of Portugal, and it was like the Santarém district (I don't remember), and I got roasted because foreigners think that everything north of Lisbon is the North. So your information definitely won't start a war😄
Its really weird that they still sell oysters if their likely to be contaminated.. most restaurants would just throw them out.. or not buy at all... they prolly bought a big batch and only got the notice later and tried to sell a bit and recoup the cost.. Snails are not supposed to be slimy when well cooked despite the look..
@acceleratum Yeah, I thought about that too. Decided to try because I thought maybe there's a 1% possibility, but now I realize the risk is much higher because both my wife and I woke up at the same time at night, and it all started😁 About the snails, the first one was good, but the second one (maybe you saw in the video) came out with a lot of slime😬 Thank you for your comment. I agree that they just needed to get rid of the oysters, but it's good that they warned us, not that it helped, but 🤣🤣🤣
What time of the year were you there ?
@gilbert2303 It was the end of September 2023 🫡
