oh for the third time my guitar sounds so nice and in-tune! people don't believe me when I say the tuning's bad because I have very old strings on, but now that I've changed them, it's exactly in tune without any truss rod adjustment. thanks for the help, I understood the winding better this time!

I love the strat bring of your telecaster. I'm now good at setting up my intonation. However, doing it everytime you change your strings is frustrating.

The English word you were looking for is "beat". In this case used in its acoustic sense, not in its musical sense. (Described by the same mathematics as radio's amplitude modulation but with sound waves.)

It's a good moding platform. I'm getting one with new pots and 4 way switch...I actually hope to get funk and clear rythm stuff in this. My other guitar us an ibanez s with emg 81 in the neck because I don't like 85. And a special emgtw in the bridge a 81 you can split.. But it's not in I'd say (clean) territory..I saw this guy playing one the other day.. This one I'm getting comes with locking tuners.. So many ppl played these. Strats I had 1 that was bell like crystal tone..sold it and never found anything..I had a squire 2003 body it was the heaviest I ever had...it wouldn't do clear bell chimey with squire 50s vibe pups...they sounded to hot in that guitar...I'm not sure why but I sold it ..can't find hard tail strats...even with locking tuners I don't mess with strat trems..so I'm hoping this turns out well .I had a squire tele it was light bluish..I liked it but sold it because that color wasn't me..

Switch the strings to 10s if they are not already. Fender Telecaster necks are different from Stratocaster necks. With a little bit of routing, you may possibly put the fender tail piece on the guitar. Also telecaster and Stratocaster head stocks are different. The one on the HB is closer to the telecaster one.

The neck radius is different on the fender. Hence the smaller radius is likely to put more distance between the outer strings and the frets at the higher end than the wider harley. The adjustment in radius can be made when a re fret is required, if we want to match them. Put a more powerful bridge pick up on it to equal the volume, but I like mine as it is.

That was 2 years ago. I bought a 52 this year. American ash. I measured the alignments. The build is spotless. I had to set it up. They are getting better, but they are getting more expensive.

I liked the sound of the Affinity better, which is a relief, because I already bought one. 🤭 May I ask which locking tuners would fit the Affinity without the need of any drilling? So S/N starting CSSF2100 were made in 2020?

I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of the upgrades. I bought the exact same affinity, it’s even the same colour. I’m thinking about installing locking tuners and a heavier bridge with brass saddles, though I’ll probably stick with the modern fully compensated design. Not sure what pickups to go for yet. I always prefer the vintage 52 type in blind A/B tone comparisons but I’m skeptical about the flat non-staggered cores those always seem to come with.

You claimed that the Squier is fully compatible with Fender upgrades but there are a few caveats. Firstly the Squier bridge is fixed with three screws at the back; Fender tele bridges use four holes with different spacing AND they’re a tiny bit further forward. One hopes that after mounting the fender bridge the three old holes will be fully covered, but going by the diagrams it looks quite tight at least for some Fender specced bridges. Also Fender tuning machines will at least need some extra holes drilled as each tuning machine has two locator lugs whereas the Squier is only drilled for one. *hopefully* the shafts are the same diameter. I’ve also seen in other videos that whereas the Squier neck pickup is mounted onto the pick guard, some Fender tele neck pickups are designed to be mounted onto a wooden standoff fixed inside the body cavity, and the screws are a different gauge. This might mean having to widen the mounting holes in your new expensive pickups.

The TE-20 bridge pickup at least has a bit of the characteristic telecaster twang, but other than that all the pickups seem flat and lifeless. Obviously being low output ceramics doesn’t help but I suspect in both cases it’s mainly down to cheap bridge hardware with insufficient mass that’s robbing the instrument of sustain.
