Let's Play The Game That Destroyed Me - The Beginners Guide
Well this was a journey. Davey and Coda were such interesting characters overall and I really loved all the layers that went into the storytelling. Also GREAT voice acting on Davey's part, he was super believable the whole time.
Don't worry, I knew by the end it was fiction, lol.
Sorry for the delay on this project, it ended up being super personal in a way that made it difficult to totally figure out, but I'm very happy with the end result. I hope you are too! :)

Slay the Princess | To Save or Slay? | Full Playthrough
Переглядів 20 тис.2 місяці тому
Hi everybody! How are you? ::) I hope you enjoy my Slay the Princess playthrough! This game turned out to be just so much more than I expected it to be… and I already expected a lot from the reviews! I absolutely loved the art style and tiny details throughout, and the theme of perception shaping your reality was just so great and uniquely explored. Originally, I went in knowing that Slay the P...

I'm so happy that Echoes of the Eye did Outer Wilds justice. It was SO GOOD. In my top 3 DLC's favorite ever. 😭 THE PRISONER WAS SO TRAGIC. The Owlks were good antagonists, I loved that their motivations were more complex. Ugh. ALSO THE CHANGES TO THE ENDING! Based on the comments from the let's play, I apparently approached this game in an unorthodox way, so it was hard to decide what to keep ...

The end of Echoes of the Eye fully broke me, the absolute tragedy of what happened to the Prisoner was truly terrible. 😭 Then getting to see their grave at the end of the universe UGHHH. Chert I'm so sorry but the Prisoner is my favorite character now. 😭 I can't with the end it's so tragic and beautiful and perfect. I love how the DLC explains the mystery of what happened to the signal and expl...

Endless Canyon had the most satisfying puzzle solve for me of the DLC. I’m so happy I trusted the devs of the game enough to keep trying to figure out how to do no sneak there- I knew I could successfully sneak if I tried a bit more but sneaking wasn’t what I’d personally feel more satisfied by! I think it's a good time to say that I REALLY struggled with the darkness in terms of keeping my sense of direction (and my stomach, motion sickness, yay!), which is what led me to uh, my more creative thinking. 💀 I knew that if I had to sneak through the area, I'd be mad, motion sick, and it'd take probably just as long in the end as what I ended up doing. Also I tricked y'all, you thought I w...

All I wanted to do was go to the concert. :'( Shrouded Woodlands turned out to be the worst concert venue, ever. Multiple bouncers wouldn't let me into the venue and then the whole thing floods??? Wow. Also ugh FINALLY Hidden Gorge has been discovered. That was painful. I was so convinced that the way to get to the upper cliff area was somehow unlocked in the dream world that I didn't even thin...

So I finally made it into the dream, and then found out that our owl-elk friends are not friendly. Who could've guessed! Those ominous slide reels about them certainly didn't hint at that. We also start hitting the point in the game where I got VERY stuck. I think I used up all my good luck/thinking getting INTO the dream. Progressing the dream though? Hm. Welcome back! Today I am exploring more of the I guess you could say surface layer of the Stranger. This green fire and sealed vault (space coffin) are preeeetttyyy suspicious though. My actual favorite discoveries at the time were the projection tables, because it was wild to me that they built tech just to escape supernovas... I'm guessing that tech they added on later. The first episode of the DLC is hereeee! Yay! The start of the DLC made me feel SO CONFIDENT about my puzzle solving abilities. I found the Stranger without a ton of difficulty. I did not know what was in store for me. 😆 I'm... very curious what y'all will think to my approach on things later. The intro was VERY involved to shoot. I thought this would be an important bit of context for the DLC playthrough. This happened post-base game when I was just zooming around capturing some pretty gameplay screenshots for thumbnails for the last few episodes of the base game series (and filler episode). It didn't fit neatly in with anywhere in the filler episode, but also didn't fit in the with the DLC episode 1. So here we are. En...

If you still care after all these months, here are some vague hints for things in the game you have not found yet (according to the footage) (also, haven't watched your DLC playthrough): 1. Statue workshop 2. In a normal loop, your memories get sent back in time, while your body is destroyed. So what if you did not die? 3. High energy lab 4. Timber Hearth 5. Probe

For someone recently told through therapy that I’ve had borderline personality traits throughout my entire life, this game hit me hard. Not knowing who you are, always seeking validation, feeling unexplainable emptiness. At 37 and finally talking to someone, and especially after playing this game, it leaves me with understanding it’s never too late to learn how to be free

I first watched JackSepticEye play this 8 years ago when it first came out. I was 10 or 11 at the time, and I feel like this game completely changed me as a person. This game is so special to me, and for a whole 8 years I had been contemplating on the meaning of it, and being a creative person, the story was so special to me. Out of all the playthroughs I've seen over the years, you’re one of the first to immediately call out "Davey's" hypocrisy, and not trust him fully. For the record, the events of the game are fictional, but I think say a lot about the creative process, and everything associated with it. I've always had so many thoughts about this game (clearly, I have so much to say over 8 years). But one thing that I didn’t notice until recently, throughout the "games" these 3 dots appear. "Davey" outright ignores them when it comes to speaking about Coda's games. He doesn't acknowledge the dots until The Tower, and my theory is that because he couldn’t assign a meaning to the dots, he brushed it off and forced one in with the lampposts. There are two video essays on the game, which really helped organize my own thoughts on the game. One by Innuendo Studios, and one by WhaleMilk. Thank you for playing this game, it's an underrated favorite, and deserves all of the praise in the universe. I also appreciate that you add something unique to your let's plays! The skit is such an interesting touch, and adds so much to experiencing the story that Davey Wreden (the real one) created. Adding this on to the end, you have ABSOLUTELY earned a new fan and subscriber. Well done!

kindof impressed you managed to push that little tape recorder so fast away, kept up with it, managed to halt most its velocity by blocking its path all with out lock on. finally slow enough to get locked on and match it you get out and carefully approach and game was like 13:35 nope you dont get this! why? in the reality of the sim that shouldn't have happened. sure ya fucked it up but still managed to get to it. did the game decide lore item need to tp back to satellite?

  • @roborob4296

I get this is just a story and its probably more about a developer/creators inner struggle and that Davey and Coda are the same person but the delivery from Davey is believable and I couldnt help but feel dirty having paid for a game supposedly being a compilation of someone elses works which were being released in violation of actual creators wishes. Like it seemed so stalkery like Coda didnt want anything to do with Davey, just leave him alone.... and here hes trying to force his "friend" to reconnect with him. Its like when someone ghosts someone then if you message the person whos trying to ghost you and be a complete A hole theres something about being a jerk that people cant ignore it FORCES a response.

@6:36 I've always been curious by Gabbro's "observation" of the quantum rock in the village. I know he's an astronaut and assumingly has a good grasp on physics; but just by how he is, I'm assuming it would be more of a "yo man, what if the rock is in all three positions at the same time, but we only see it when we see it" in his best Tommy Chong impersonation.

I always find it interesting that Davey opted to frame this as a “true story” kind of style even though obviously the actual narrative in the game is clearly fiction. He could have easily made completely fictional characters for it entirely separate from himself but instead he leaned in and took the extra step to sell the theme. Especially bold of a choice given he set himself as the villain which I’m sure he wound up receiving criticism and backlash from people who missed the fact that the story wasn’t actually a true story. Honestly I’m not sure I could have done it myself. Even in a fictionalized narrative putting myself front and center like that just feels like it would just be anxiety inducing even if I myself knew the story was fiction.
