A Bellinger contract would be reasonable for Vlad. Give him a $120m 3 year deal, $35m year 1, $40m year 2 and $45m year 3. Give an opt out after every year. If Vlad truly believes in himself he would sign this deal and will have proved to all teams that he is worth more in free agency. If he’s just a pretty good hitter which is all I think he is like in 2022 and 2023, the team has minimized their risk. And make it public that this deal was offered, because if he turns it down it shows that he cares more about guaranteed money than actually performing to the contract.

The farm system will be better with the promotion of Marc Tramuta as the Blue Jays director of amateur scouting. He has reached terms with Christopher Polanco from the DR and has signed Owen Gregg from Oakville. With the continued development of Arjun Nimmala this gives Toronto three talented infielders. Look for Nimmala to reach Buffalo by 2026 and hope that Polanco and Gregg make the Bisons squad by the end of 2028.

The Blue Jays are an enigmatic team. When no deals are even on the scope of the horizon. All of the talk public talk about the Blue Jays have been externally not internally. I look at the team and question this. Is the Blue Jays front office hubris so big that they can't acknowledge their problems. No major league ready prospect cupboard, no long term investments in players other than Rodriguez and now Gimenez (Berrios has the Opt Out). This franchise still hasn't won a single playoff game since 2016. Collectively 0-6 since 2020. The fanbase witnesses a monumental undertaking of a 300M+ stadium renovation (I still say it was necessary) which causes ticket prices to change and shift, snack prices to change and shift. Pick a direction and let the fans make a decision. For the last two years. I've felt alienated as a fan of this team. Show me that you care.

I disagree about the farm being way better. It's slightly better. A couple spots better but still at the bottom half of the league. Most of the acquisitions don't look that great yet. Maybe Wagner in a small sample size.

The direction of team is wholly dependant on Vlad's signability. If the FO extends him then other FA must be signed to be competitive. If they can't extend him it's time to trade him and tear it down. The worse situation is not extending Vlad and signing a bunch of FA's.

Atkins hasn't had a choice but to build around Vlad and Bo. That was the direction before he got here. He made a 3 time playoff team while Vlad, our '40-50hr hitter' didn't come close to expectations. We made the playoffs despite his inconsistencies. Everything he was supposed to be is exactly what we've been missing.. especially in the playoffs where he is 3/22 with 1rbi. This isn't Atkins' fault. Vlad was a bust. I don't even see where there is an argument otherwise.

The Kyle Tucker trade opens up the door for the J's to go after Alex Bregman as Paredes has taken his spot in Houston. The Yankees and the Dodgers will never acquire him and the Mets already have 2 third basemen. Pay him what he wants, offer plenty of opt-outs and plug him in the 4 hole. Then, pay the money and go get Cody Bellinger from the Cubs. Take on all of the money so next to nothing goes the other way to Chicago. Bellinger can play centre until Varsho is 100%, spell Vladdy at 1B and give the Jays a left handed bat they have wanted since 1989

It's only been one year - That's nothing in baseball terms. Ask the Mets, Yanks, Atlanta and SD about one bad year in a competitive run. They all suffered one very recently only to bounce right back. Its true, we have impending doom ahead and everything is trending down, but we've never seen them have to handle anything but getting Vlad to the playoffs, which they did 3 times and almost a forth (despite all that offense in 2021). We've always gotten smashed in the playoffs by teams with less power than us. Ok, we did have to watch them hold spending while they chased big stars, but let's all admit to ourselves that A) that was exciting, B) that was Rogers' call and c) it failed and its time to accept it and take it like we've been there before..

It's been 40 years of this city only attracting guys based on nothing but a competitive window. It doesnt matter whose in charge, we have real problems to fix. It's getting too Trumpy around here. We are 100 runs short of 2023 totals, which were still not to our standards. 60 or so of those belong to a healthy Bo. We need to expect that back..and hope for more (he had 29 last year). Gimenez may add about 15-20 in a disappointing season. If we can get a guy who can assist Vladdy in knocking them in (and add 30-40 runs) another pen arm and another durable pitcher, then we may be closer than it appears. Maybe one more shot at the playoffs (to improve his 3/22) is what the jays need to see before they empty pockets for Vlad.

This franchise has either no direction or a confusing direction due to the front office. The strategy whatever it was when they came in has clearly failed, it's like one step forward and two steps back all the time. In comparing them to other Front Offices, they are mediocre at best. The reality is that we don't draft as well as other teams, we don't develop well, our trades are questionable, some good some don't make sense......decision making is either plain bad or just overthought to the point of paralysis......the decision to go all in on defence was a miscalculation that every expert seemed to recognize except the Jays. Bottom line is that with a confusing direction and a losing team, this organization has become irrelevant, a fact not lost on the players, both within and outside the organization. The Jays need to rebuild with a new plan, which will require a new front office, it also requires accepting reality that Bo and Vlad aren't signing here(they should have done it 2 years ago, another miscalculation), signing one or the other will not move the needle so move on like Houston did with Tucker(while they still have value) and get some young controllable talent while remaining competitive.

also Ernie Clement did damn fine job at 3rd and deserves to start and grow there anyone who watches the Jays saw that and will only improve more comfortable he gets there

The Cleveland front office really impressed me with their moves! Luis Ortiz was a long reliever in the first half of 2024, and then made 15 starts in the second half, 7 of which were quality starts. 3.0 WAR, 3.32 ERA, 126 ERA+, and costs $800k in 2025 and 2026 with three arbitration years after that. Super cheap to pay a guy to fill 6 innings per start. They also got two lefty pitching prospects, now ranked 16th and 18th in their farm system. All three of them for Horwitz, and they still have the OF prospect the Blue Jays gave them, plus they shed salary to use in the free agent market.
