39:28 - I would've used the analogy of Keith Moon's drum kit during The Who's appearance on the Smothers Brothers Show, where Keith added explosives to his bass drum, and then stage hands did the same. He ended up with three times the explosives that he usually used for the finale, and the resulting explosion blew out the eardrum of Pete Townshend and set his hair on fire, and the shockwave momentarily knocked the show off the air. (That video is amazing!)
it puts the pitcher at ease when they're 6,7,8,9, run's ahead mentally. how many times this year has our pitching done great and we couldn't score 1 run
At around 7:20 Adam touched on my point with this postseason. It’s not just “power hitters” who are hitting these HR’s it’s guys likely adjusting their approach going hey we’re not stringing hits together off this guy so I’m going to try and run into something.
The term “Defense wins Championships” originated from the legendary Alabama football coach Bear Bryant in the 70s, and people have applied it to other sports over the years. I found a study by Sportsbook Review that studied all sports. In MLB the better offensive team won 63% of the time, while the better defensive team won 39% of the time. NHL, NBA, and NFL had much closer splits, with the saying only being true in the NFL.
Well, to be fair, Scott's argument against "pitching and defense wins championships" by mentioning home runs is sort of cheating. Home runs bypass the defense side of things. ;)
I think they can trade any of them, but I don't think they can trade all of them. They do need some of those young guys to give decent performance without being paid.
1:11:45 my comment about becoming an Atkins apologist is to do with fans who have gone so far negative that are saying we can’t possibly attract a free agent or acquire a good player because Atkins is soooo incompetent. I don’t like the guy, but his trade and FA records don’t indicate he’s completely incapable of bringing in a good player.
If the jays have another season like last year everyone is gone. That includes not only shapiro and atkins but probably vladdy and bo too. And most likely the majority of fans. Other than that everything is fine. Lol.
I think with Cleveland....they lost cause their guys just arent clutch. When it came time to put up or shut up...they simply shut up. Not all major league talent is gonna perform when it matters. So honestly cleveland are pretenders. Just another team that can manage over a long season but when push comes to shove, nothing. No big deal but should tell the management team there what type of players they have. To the point about Hitting Homeruns wins...well, what team is spending 300 Million dollars on a payroll on just pitching and defense? I dont think that team exists. So the reality is on big money teams they usually have lots of hitting and lots of pitching so im not sure there is an arguement here. Nobody is gonna build a team with Kevin Kiermaer at all positions and 5 Gerrit coles starting with a BP full of Clases......Shit i mean look at the glory atlanta days with Glavine Maddux etc. They also had hitting. So i think every team ever is gonna need hitters lol. This whole arguement seems weird. ((PS my point with Rooker was really we need C, 3B, A bunch of BP arms, maybe a starter all while still need a big OF bat.......So unless its all FA pickups and your leaving Rooker till last and using all the trade bait on just him, just dont see it))
I had to listen to this least shocking video!!

we need bat's, lot's of them. HR bat's. 2023 we had the 3rd best pitching in all of baseball and we sucked.

Weirdest least important argument we’ve had in years lol
