Its nice to hear some Jays talk from people with a brain. I have always said Vlad has no motivation to extend. Why would he take a discount on an extension??? When all he has to do, is perform the way he knows he can. For 1 year. And it will be a bidding war.
A Bellinger contract would be reasonable for Vlad. Give him a $120m 3 year deal, $35m year 1, $40m year 2 and $45m year 3. Give an opt out after every year. If Vlad truly believes in himself he would sign this deal and will have proved to all teams that he is worth more in free agency. If he’s just a pretty good hitter which is all I think he is like in 2022 and 2023, the team has minimized their risk. And make it public that this deal was offered, because if he turns it down it shows that he cares more about guaranteed money than actually performing to the contract.
Vladdys going to free agency and to a team run by a management that is competent. All valued free agents want a long term contract with a team built to compete for the duration of the contract. Atkins is a clown that believes he knows baseball better than all the other teams in MLB. He will gaslight the fans thinking the Jay's fans are ignorant and will accept his answers. Any chance of extending both Vladdy and Bo has come and gone 2 seasons ago. Jay's ownership better not let Schapiro and Atkins become the architect of the rebuild because its the definition of insanity.
Shapiro and Atkins are far too Cleveland mind-set.... and the Rogers corporate front office - for a company that makes money over fists - is very tight-fisted, it seems, and very cautious. I doubt Vladdy stays... unless he has a sub-par season and his price tag comes down.
They don't understand how to use additional money. Big markets don't operate like small ones. They operate the Blue Jays like a small market with a quarter billion payroll. Mark Shapiro was always a bad fit.
@@markryan3739 Rogers has spent the money, they've misused it. They're not big market executives. Superior front office executives could field a far better team on $100M less. Look at Houston & Atlanta. Their ineptitude is costing our future.
The episode of the beards! Beauty
Man Canada can’t get no one there or make anyone wanna stay. Imo they need to trad Bo & Vlad for prospect packages and build for the future.

Bidding seriously for othani and Soto is a Cleveland mindset? Lol

@@OGS2099I'm no fan of this FO but they've spent the money on FA's. Springer, Gausman, Bassett, et al weren't small market signings
As much as I wish they would spend and spend, they do have share holders to report to, and business is business.

The Jays should get Trevor bauer to round out the rotation he's good and he's cheap!
765M was not wild. He got paid that because of his age. Ohtani hit free agency at age 30. For the love of god stop comparing both contracts.
