Hope that you can get an opportunity to research, talk about, and possibly interview Owen Gregg. He is a 17 year old player signed by the Blue Jays in July. A SS/2B from Oakville (Appleby College), he was playing at the Complex until the Blue Jays sent everyone home before the hurricane. We sat next to Owen and his family at the first game of the Miami series. Very nice kid with an awesome and proud family. The kid has a solid scouting report. As a high school coach, I will be utilizing his metrics as a benchmark for some of our top players. Best of luck to Owen!
I like the idea of a 'Generational Player' being someone who, each season, is in talks of chasing records(plural) over _multiple_ seasons. Good Work, guys!
The one thing about Ross Atkins speech was that he openly said we are going for it in ‘25. Honestly expected a “it’s a fluid situation we’ll see what’s available and go from there” type thing. But he really said we’ve got Bo and Vlad and we’re going to push in for ‘25 which I appreciated.
@@jeremypridham2476 it could be but to me it shows he knows he’s not getting a rebuild, he immediately shutdown the idea of taking a step back or selling off and said we are competing. I think he knows this is the last strike.
I'm sorry boys but I was SHOCKED that nobody asked why the FO didn't address the bullpen. Jays were only a few games below 500 when Garcia and Romano got hurt
I gave up on this team when Vlad dropped a routine throw to first in a Kansas game and they lost because of that. Believe that was in May and I don’t regret it as they never recovered.
Vladdy is a generational blue jay at this point but not for all of baseball. That's how I see it. He's on the same level as Carlos Delgado, but not the same as Soto, Trout, Ohtani, Acuna, etc.
I started watching the Blue Jays in 1988. From that point on I probably watched 95% of every televised game. That included the really bad years were the team wasn’t spending much money. When AA took over the team I started to get a little more optimistic, he increased the scouting department, got rid of some bad contracts and collected a lot of assets. the playoff runs they had prior to AA leaving was just as exciting as watching the back to back World Series wins. The very disappointing back to back exits during the last two wildcard rounds was kind of a gut punch. But at least they made the playoffs. This year when the front office ran back the same team for the most part I wasn’t very optimistic. By mid May when they were five or so wins below 500 I stopped watching. I said to myself I wasn’t turning the TV on until they were back to 500, Unfortunately, that was the last game, I know I missed out on watching some of the young guys coming up. I even cut back on a lot of Bluejay UA-cam content. I love baseball and my jays. I will watch some of the playoffs after the wildcard rounds are finished.
I saw where they are projecting Vlad's arbitration at 29.6 million. So any long term contract would start at 30 mil/yr. I'm tired of the he plays first base rhetoric. You pay your best players. There have been 6 MVP 1st basemen since the last shortstop in 2007. With shortstop being the prominent position supposedly.
LONGTOSS - cut out the interloper guests. Jenn, Joel, Adam and Scott. Keep it simple. NOT interested in Juan in Seattle or the 2 dads that look alike or Johnny the IT guy. That's the bottom line.
Still early so maybe i need to digest it and think about it more. HOWEVER....lol. The Vladdy stuff....okay...he isnt signing here and that means ITS TRADE TIME. Yes boys. Im calling for Bo, Vlad, Gausman, Berios and Bassitt...Lets tear this shit show down and rebuild. Its just time to embrace it. Cause honestly this club is going NOWHERE next year. Now again maybe ill breathe for a week and revisit this team and state of affairs lol.
@@choocharoo yeah, whether they should or not is a fair question. But that was the most decisive answer I’ve ever seen Ross give when he said they wouldn’t take a step back and would be pushing in to compete in ‘25.
Vlad jr is NOT ! A generational player end of story He’s not worth 30 + mil a year You have to deal him by the deadline this year for a haul and then make a run in free agency if you want him . I’m telling you long term Vlad is a huge mistake , his conditioning is going to fall apart as he ages wait and see . A 10+ year deal don’t do it !
@@scott_farr_8975 whether he is or not , has nothing to do with Shapiro and his want to have Vlad here. It bothers Shapiro that Vlad is still the best player (by far ) on the team.
@@NatTurnerswitBurnerz give me more years that he had this year and we can talk generational. 2 good years and multiple crappier ones doesn’t make him that…..yet. He’s no Soto, Harper, Judge, Shohei at this point.
@donovanz1049 He's a free agent after next season. There's no time left to prove anything. If you haven't made up your mind on him after six seasons, you never will.

Its a good point. I think premium bullpen arms cost a lot now. With a shit minor league system and injuries at the time. What do ya do
If they do not resign vlad i doubt any decent free agents will sign. Could be firesale by trade deadline. Lots of free agents on this team..
Given the events of this week , who do you trust more , Akins/Shapiro... or Pete Rose

46:20 this team was out in May. anyone who knows baseball knew it was toast. I wasnt even buying it in august. they played bad teams.
The Jays lost the fewest man games to injuries by far in MLB and they were in last place in their division.
