Recently, I was watching a couple of breakdown videos on the most recent F1 cars and MotoGP bikes and was surprised to learn that there’s an aero trick MotoGP copied from F1.
So what exactly is ground effect, and why is it so powerful? Well in this video I’ll break down how it works. Why it was banned, and how MotoGP teams are using it to build lap record obliterating monsters in the modern era of motorbike racing.

    Make the bikes heavier. By making them even lighter they're making sure no guy weighing more than 120lbs will ever get a shot at motogp. A lot of talents going to drop out right after they hit puberty hahaha

    OK then there doing 400 KM/H But F1 car can only do 357.1 at Low Drag Track ( Monza, Italy F1 Race) and need to slow down. Bing Motor size down, Take all Toys away (OK Like to F1 Common ECU across the Brands and teams ). IF there Keep the same weight that is Question

    Pulling the 211v out of storage would be a good start. It was the last bike that was dominate and the last bike to do so without looking like a bag of smashed assholes with wings on it.

  • @Ricky911_
    @Ricky911_ 2 години тому

    One thing I would like to point out is only a certain part of the bike is used for ground effect, which is the one closer to the bottom of the bike. You might have noticed that MotoGP riders take some very extreme positions nowadays by not just dragging the elbows but also the shoulders. The upper winglets aren't there to create any sort of ground effect or diffuser effect. Those winglets act like small versions of F1 front wings and rear wings. The reason why they are angled slightly is exactly for cornering. They were initially used mostly to keep the bike on the ground when braking and accelerating, hence why the Ducatis from 2019 had flat winglets. However, they were angled so that, when cornering, the winglets on the outside of the bike would create vertical downforce. The problem with the winglets on the inside is they would create downforce to the side, which only reduces grip. The way engineers have countered this is by making riders get into such extreme positions that the winglets' airflow is blocked. It's crazy how much engineering goes into MotoGP for a few tenths. For reference, if you're cornering left, the bottom left winglets are creating ground effect while the ones on the bottom right aren't doing anything because ground effect can only create a low pressure when there is a surface nearby. The top right side of the bike is instead pushing the bike down by having air pushed against it, like a front wing. The top left side of the bike isn't doing anything because the riders are blocking the winglets.

    I don’t agree with this video. Yamaha is struggling also and they never had a Marquez… Japanese factories withdraw from motorsport competition year by year. Young people don’t care about motorcycles. It’s sth dangerous for them. Superbikes have died a decade ago. Large factories like Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki have realised that. Japanese factories will stop racing altogether in a few years.

    By focusing on a rider, who wasnt a great developer of a bike... Other than the driver, he cost the 10th title... Rossi has proven so hard, that Honda was MotoGP Champion because of him, not the bike...

    You also have to remember they have million dollar set ups, professional engineers / mechanics that set up the bikes per track / conditions, even AMA bikes don't compare to world bikes and those barely compare to moto gp bikes. You want to learn about this stuff commenters? Twist to the wrist by keith code, track days / camp days with professionals. GG <3

    It's not a technique really. Every single rider does that whether he wants or not, bikes LEAN by COUNTER STEERING. We just do it in a less spectacular way, but everyone counter steers, when you lean your body to steer you push the in turn handlebar, it doesn't seem that way, because motoGP riders do it for years and professionally. I understand what you mean by leaning the body, but we'll, that's counter steering, exactly that, casual risers - some do it properly and some don't but they all do.

    Every honda rider had complaints since 2014. Marc destroyed the bike! He openly admitted to sabotaging the development that Pedrosa wanted. He also said he wanted the fastest bike, not the easiest. Pedrosa left and took a bike that never had a dry podium to its first dry win in under 12 months! After Marcs crash in 2020 Simon Crafar even asked Alberto Puig, "do you regret putting all your eggs in 1 basket" puig said that he was winning ofcourse we listened to him!!! Marc cant develop bikes. You can't tell me the most successful manufacturer has all of a sudden forgotten how to win!
