Interesting, thank you, I just had one of these pop up in the berm right outside my front door. So weird it was all by itself, yesterday when I saw it, it hadn’t opened up, checked this morning and it was opened out. I was nervous about it because my dog kept wanting to check it out, I pulled him away from it. Now that I know it’s poisonous I’ll yank it up and trash it.

I am a fellow amatuer mycologists.❤ stumbled across your video. Commenting to help engagement. I'm nuerospicy and hyperfocus on learning about specific topics get bored and move on. I became obsessive about learning about fungi after I realized a specific species only grew under the beech trees on my street. That was the day I learned about mycorhizzal relationships. Which sent me down the rabbit hole and attempting to identify and find every mushroom 😅 Then learn everything I can about them. Six years later, I still haven't grown bored and moved on like I normally would.

These beauties apparently live here in Wisconsin but I haven't found one yet! Plenty of Sulfureus but I haven't been super impressed by the flavor of them. I suffer mushroom envy. I'm in the Pacific Northwest, but in the high desert part! Puffballs are one of the only edible ones we get that I recognize, tho occasionally will see a Shaggy Mane. Grew up Shaggy Mane hunting every Fall, our cluster of friends and family would do a big mushroom and grouse fry up. There are no doubt more mushrooms out there, but I don't know 'em! Would be handy to have someone of your expertise around to point out the good ones! Damn, now I want fried mushrooms.

Anna!, I have a mystery for you! I am so glad to see you here. I have , here near Cashiers North Carolina, some kind of weird liquidy gel kind of thing growing on the hilside behind my cabin. These things look like little eggs with no shells. orangey red "yolk" structure covered in a clear gel and they have been unchanged for over a week. They would be the size of quail eggs, minus the shell. What the heck are they, I know you know. : ) I sure wish you lived down the road from me up here and we could find stuff like this on a hike... : ) I look forward to your thoughts, George.

Found some of these recently. They were nice and fresh looking, and I thought I had beat the bugs to a gourmet meal. Then I cooked them and they turned black and stunk, and tasted like liver and bile and vomit. I couldn't even swallow one bite, and I'm usually an adventurous eater. Found this video while typing with yellow fingers and realized this is what they were. The description matched perfectly. I just don't know how anyone would call them edible. Even the bugs didn't want them lol
