Can the plugin be installed per Engine other than per project?
Is there a way to get the player to slide under somthing? Would it need to make a state .machine?
What’s your take on Cyan Puppets?
Its good for simple motion but no twisting or turning right?
@@Crossfar I did a spinning leg sweep in the video and it did quite well. I’ve also seen it do well on flips and somersaults, and it’s not terrible with tornado kicks…. I’m going to do a shootout video between quickmagic and some of the other video mocap systems and will include several spinning animations

I used MoveAI, wonderDynamics, and two more, I don't even remember their names. But now I am using QuickMagic a lot. But the best one, I saw is still not available it is SynthMoCap, which uses two cameras and the result seems amazing.

move one is actually the second best IMO and outperforms quickmagic on some videos. quickmagic does the best across the widest variety of cases though
Try Marionette XR, AnimCraft and Video Mocap’s Cascadeur. All local!
Cascadeur is definitely not competitive with quickmagic, are animcraft or marionette XR as good as quickmagic?
@ You could do a comparison test. Marionette XR recently added the best hand capture I've ever seen from a single video. I also think the capture is very good and it is free during the pilot program.
Rokoko is the worst AI mocap LOL. Quickmagic and Cascadeur better
Is Quick Magic really better than Wonder Dynamics? I was planning to pay for a month of Wonder to try it, since it doesn't offer a free trial, but your video is making me confused. I thought it better handles videos where full body isn't visible all the time. Quick magic is a bit overzealous with anti-jitter filtering, so sometimes movements can get a bit robotic and snappy, but it's definitely impressive.
yeah it’s a lot better. not only that, but wonder requires undocumented pyrotechnics to get into unreal and onto a standard skeleton…. I tried to avoid doing a shootout video, but I guess I could if that’s of interest
re: quickmagic issues: that’s totally fair, if even a part of the head or leg goes out of frame, quickmagic assumes the person went absolutely bonkers…. but yeah, that stuff is pretty easy to fix. also, the hand posing isn’t the best all the time, but I’m so used to that with $5k meta gloves that I can’t knock quickmagic for that.

In 2020 Rokoko is the worst 2k I've ever spent.
@@ielohim2423 same! Anything above a light jog is completely unusable and the smartgloves produce zero usable hand animation… it’s rough…. That’s why I moved up to Xsens, but that’s a whole different level of pain with respect to suit cost and cost to process.
And me here having the dream of buying a rokoko suit. Thank you for saying this, now I'll not want have one. Also too much money to spend.

Anyone notice that if you will enable newtwork lag (30-60 pnig) it will be laggy and jitter on clients?
I haven’t tried that… I’ll give it a whirl and see what the chooser is doing. i know very little about the network stuff though so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in!

Can confirm, I’ve tried everything, quick magic by far was the best. (Anyways they’re using dancing because dancing is extremely complicated and has very nuanced fast/slow movement chops where if they are not cleanly represented, the dancing looks horrible) imo universally best to show capability
@@TheDiakou agreed! only thing to come close is Move One, but quickmagic’s interface and performance with dynamic movements/traversal is better for sure! Re: dancing: I found Kratos dancing gifs and couldn’t NOT use them :). Although I think dynamic movements combined with moving background are the hardest cases that really separate QM from most of the others
The reason they use dancing is probably because it's a Chinese company targeting Chinese content creators who obsess over MMD videos with 3D characters from various media (games, anime etc.) often dancing, so it's a real market. Bilibili is full of it, so I guess they hope for viral makreting this way. They might be also targeting western tiktokers, but those are now better served with video AI generation instead of going trough all this pain with 3D models, rigging and rendering. I guess some of AI mocap business plans are being eaten by other AI...

this stuff was actually all just audio to facial anim built into unreal 5.5. I should do a facial animation series though and see if I can get some fancy guests to talk about their workflow in unreal

I'm having an issue with this in 5.5. It works fine with the run, but when I try to do the same for sprint it doesn't work, so if I sprint jump off a ledge, I get no roll. I added the Stand_Sprint landing to the database, but it still doesn't roll, so I must be missing something with sprint. Any idea how to fix it?

when I install 5.5 I can't get the plugins folder to show the plugin to activate it :( help
are you installing from fab or GitHub?
Hmm having trouble to get it to work on 5.5, when I install from from the FAB alone, the plugins folder doesn't show. When I manually install the folder, (on top of the FAB install) the selection sets doesn't work. When I try to uninstall from FAB and just to manual folder install, the Plugins window doesn't show the Tatools plugin to activate. 🤔 What else can I try? using mac here!
Yikes, that sounds terrible! Can you reach out on discord (I'm mb in the threepeat server) and we can get this working for you? I don't have a mac, so it may require a little iteration to get everything working
@@threepeatgames I was able to solve it! The problem is that the folder structure is now under Engine Content!! Now when I initiate the GUi from that folder, it works!
@ good call! I hadn’t considered that that the locations different between fab and GitHub installs! I’ll be adding a toolbar button for it so hopefully that will make it easier in the future

By any chance does using this plug in affect performance? Fairly new to unreal and wondering if they're are any performance issues with this
no plugins being used here, but if you’re talking about tatools then no, it’s just an editor plugin and shouldn’t impact editor performance at all. they said, if you’ve got a lot of keys, you might want to cut up the animation and work on the parts separately, as unreal gets bogged down working with high key counts.

The Set WantDisableLegIK to False at the end should hook to the OnCompleted of the PlayMontage instead of the Exec, that way the IK kicks back on at the end of the animation and the legs animate correctly for the fall.
This is an amazing tutorial man, awesome way to teach animation.

This project is great and it will benefit Unreal animators a lot! Working selecting controls only via viewport seems crazy to me. If you appreciate I would like to leave you some feedback and ideas just because I feel this will be a prominent part of my workflow: - Selection groups can't be undone in a single command (selecting "all" button force me to a long serie of ctrl-Z when I change my mind) - I dream about a more flexible picker, editable without enter the blueprint graph, it can be handy to add specific control buttons or even build my picker for an entirely different rig (e.g. non bipedal). I'm thinking about animschool picker for Maya or other similar. I can't even imagine what technical limit Uneral poses to this developments, but I hope this will be useful. Anyway thank you for your effort, keep it up!
Thanks for the feedback: re: selection groups: you just click in the viewport (or the sequencer) to deselect them all. Sadly, selection events don't go into the undo stack as transactions. you could alternatively just select one of the controls with left click, which would also clear out the rest of the selection. re: flexible picker: I might make a quadruped picker at some point and definitely plan to support one-click control rig rigs, but more flexible than that and really it's just easier to duplicate the widget blueprint and go to it. If someone has a good concept for that and wants to contribute to tatools, I'm all for that though! I'm also currently working on the Tatoolbar, which is an animbot-esque horizontal mini-widget with all the functionality except for the picker itself... keep the feedback coming!
