Any idea about the Caliber RD821 service price or easy to work on ? It's seems similar to Rolex 3's Generation, or Old Omega versions based on the jewels count! they use this Caliber in many of their watches ! Is it also entirely in house or based on other brand ?

Anyone know where i can get a strap that looks similar to a A11 strap thats 18mm? I got a replica A11 and its beautiful but the original strap is army green instead of what the A11 strap was, this replica also has wider lug width i believe originals were 16mm?

Hi vineyard time, thanks for this look into WWII's watches! My grandpa served in WWII (Navy) and I have been trying to see if he might have been issued a watch. I gather some divisions of the army had A-11's, would the navy have them too? I'm interested in collecting one for the sentimental value, as I never knew him. :)

The A-11 used radium hands and is radioactive, correct? I know the "ORD DEPT" watches used radium, and to this day some are till quite radioactive.

Thanks for the advice ! I managed to visit an AD and I walked out with a 2020Sub, I was very lucky. I mentioned that I just got engaged and this was my opening line to the Sales Person “I know that everyone loves the Rolex brand , but can you tell me why Rolex is special to you, and why have you chosen to represent this brand?” He then asked me what my budget was , and I said £7k , he came down with the Two Tone Black dial Sub at £11k. Some addition to my luck : this was just as the stores opened again from the Covid lockdown, and I suspect that they had these watches waiting for buyers and I was just at the right place , at the right time. An experience I will never forget as it was my first Rolex.

Nice discussion. I actually have just purchase a brand new unused La Monegasque in steel with the silver face, full box and papers, RDDBMG0009, from an AD for $17K including 21% VAT. It is a really beautiful piece - I love listening to the micro-rotor do its work and the craftsmanship is superb all around. I am wondering what your opinion on the price I paid is?

I don't know why people are so obsessed with Rolex, I've had one in thre past and sold it on, people should look at other brands like iwc, they make better looking watches.

I walked into my local AD in the town center ( UK ) sat down with the sales assistant had a really good experience ( My first ever time walking into a Rolex AD ) no spending history or registered interest at all. He let me try on the Submariner date Black bezel and the Yachtmaster 40.. He quickly registered my interest we had a laugh some good conversations he offered me a drink gave me the new hard back Rolex book 2021 nicely packaged up put my name forward straight away for 2 great models and said hopefully by christmas.. Being polite confident honest and genuine can also do the trick.... Although of course i don't have my watch yet.. but im quite confident!

First time I've seen one of your videos. Appreciate the content. I would like to say that there was no U.S. Air Force in World War II. It was the Army Air Corp. I understand what you were saying, and again I do appreciate the content, but every time you said Air Force my mind would go to the thought "it wasn't the Air Force back in World War II, it was the Army Air Corp" and I found myself missing a few points. Anyways.... I know that's being nit picky but wanted you to know for future videos. Anyways.... thank you for a very informative video. I kept thinking, when you said the watches didn't have hacking, "wouldn't you think it might be important for the pilots to synchronize their watches during briefing?" Apparently not. LOL Have a GREAT day and again, thank you for the video. I did enjoy it.

The Spaceview didn't come first in The Bulova 'tuning fork' catalogue. They were designed to be sample pieces, displaying the movement. People preferred them to the standard models so Bulova started producing them.

I believe there are enough stock of each model (even Daytona) to go around for each and every true watch collector. It is greed that has been driving the premium over retail. Without resellers, flippers and auctioneers, Rolex, AP, PP or any other manufacture is only worth its Retail price when it is bought. If these time pieces are in such a high demand, perhaps they can be sold direct to consumers with principal boutiques and even online like what Apple does. Not only it can enhance the product and user experiences, it is a sustainable business model into the future.

Rolex is playing games with wait list. The las 3 Rolex watches that I purchased were walk-ins. I won’t play their game; if Rolex doesn’t want to sell me a watch, I’ll buy a better watch. Patek, vercheron, or A.Lang. Screw Rolex and their games.

Yeah man... this whole "Building up a relationship" thing is so bullshit... you are 100% right... but I never even put that much effort in my love relationships as much as I have to with my ADs.... I am just so frustated... I think I might up giving up on this Rolex brand or maybe just buy a two tone datejust and be happy with it.

I am honestly mostly interested in the straps… Interesting that some A11 watches come with a strap similar to G10 straps while others come with normal two-piece straps…
