Hi Rubin, excellent video! I just tried on a Freak X and really like it. Between a titanium case and a forged carbon case, would you lean one way or the other?

Thanks so much! I’m so glad you like it. Personally I would prefer the Titanium as my concern about the forged carbon is how will the case hold up long term. Additionally any damage to the case could not be fixed through conventional means and would likely require replacement. Let me know what you decide or if you have any other questions! Good luck!

@@vineyardtime5545 Thank you! I was leaning in that direction, and that explanation makes complete sense. This watch wasn't even on my shortlist (I was looking at a Blancpain fifty fathoms, a few omegas, and a JLC master) but they happened to carry UN and when I tried it on it was amazing

@@vineyardtime5545Two more questions if you happen to have an opinion - did you find the sound of the automatic winding mechanism to be distracting? This was mentioned on an A Blog to Watch review. Also, do you think this watch could hold up as a near-daily wear (if treated carefully) or is this likely to be too "fragile" for that use case?

Interesting questions. The rotor does make some noise, I personally don’t mind it as it reminds me of what a neat mechanical device is on the wrist! But I can completely understand how some people would find noise distracting. My suggestion would be to put it on your wrist at the store and rotate your wrist in a circle, see whether you find it distracting or not. Regarding wearing it everyday, that’s a tough one. The automatic movement of the freak is relatively robust, but it is still a significant complication. Additionally the freak has a relatively low water resistance. I think worn carefully it could be an everyday. My guess is most people wear it in rotation. Even though it has a casual look, the design tends towards a specialty piece.

Hi! Till I saw your video, I was foucus on UN Skeleton X carbonium that I want to purchase these days. Can you make a recomandation between Freak and Sk X?

Thanks for your question, they are both nice watches. I think personally I would prefer the Freak X. While I appreciate the skeletonized look, the history of the Freak, combined with its unique complication make it the winner of the two for me. Additionally the Freak X is automatic which I tend to prefer over a manual wind watch. Let me know if you have any other questions. Let me know which you decide!

@@vineyardtime5545 Thank you for your answer. Indeed, the Sk X could be the first manual wind watch that I own, I have 2 automatic pieces that I alternate daily. That why I have a doubt how I can get used to it, especialy the days I will not wear it. Althouhg it has 4 days power reserve. Freak is new for me, it's on my radar for three days when I was to local dealer and I tried both. I will tell my decision in a couple of days.

I completely understand. It’s a tough decision. Getting used to a manual wind watch can be tricky, but the UN Skeleton X does have a great power reserve. My advice is next time your at the store take a picture of both on your wrist. Then sleep on it over night. That always helps me. Good luck in your decision and I will look forward to hearing!

15000€ is "affordable" for a watch? My car cost less than that!

Thanks for your comment. The Freak X is definitely a high end and expensive watch. However, it is the entry point for the Ulysse Nardin Freak line of watches. They are particularly complicated mechanical masterpieces. However, there are a lot of other amazing watches from Ulysse Nardin and other makers that are far less money. Incredible watches from makers like Seiko all the way up to Rolex. Let us know if you have any questions.

“The rules of Cycling according to the Velominati “ states: # 5: The bicycle on top of your car must cost more than your car. So it’s all relative. Enjoy the Freak!
