@5:00 You're correct, Tudor is still housed in the Rolex HQ. Many of the processes and machine models for production and QC are shared between the brands. During high demand, Rolex staff assist with production. GQ had a nice article published after they toured the Rolex facility.

Thanks for the comment! I’ll have to look up the GQ article I haven’t read it.

I like the vintage styling much more than the Sub. Colour pops, vintage lume and style, snowflake hands, even the riveted bracelet. It’s very easy to be swayed in the watch market. Lots of influencers out there. Be strong and buy what you like, not what you “should” buy.

Agreed. The vintage styling of the Black Bay is very nice!

I have the BB 41mm and the only gripe I have is the lack of a glidelock style of quick adjustment for the bracelet. Other than that it's a gorgeous thing of beauty and gains less than half a second per day!

That’s a fair point the micro adjustments on the buckle for the new Rolex models is quite useful. It would be a great addition to the Black Bay!

Please never settle for next best alternative, from my personal experience. If you love SUB go for it and one day it will be yours.

Overall I agree, but this is one of the rare examples where I do not feel the less expensive watch, the Tudor, is settling. It’s, fit, finish and quality is very similar to the Sub. Add in the vintage styling and both watches have a place in ones collection.

Finally someone who appreciates the rivets.

@@vineyardtime5545 yet it gets the most complaints not sure why it adds to the heritage. I sold a few watches recently to make a house purchase in Spain and it and my explorer 2 where my keepers. A rootbeer, bluesy and a milgauss green sapphire went. I know I make the right choice wouldn't get rid of it for any reason.

Congrats on the house! Good choices to keep. The historic rivet bracelet Rolex’s/tudors are in my mind some of the nicest. I really appreciate Tudor and how they have honored vintage elements with their choices. The rivet details are definitely under appreciated!

Very nice video. Watch finished your video then I realized that you only have 200 views and 80 subscribers. It feels as if you have been doing it for a long time.

Thanks so much. The UA-cam channel is new for us and we hope it will continue to grow. We’ve had the store on Martha’s Vineyard selling vintage watches and I’ve been making watches for over a decade. Excited to share some of my knowledge with collectors! Thanks for the view

Wow nice finding your channel. G8 content. Tudor only if I cannot get a Sub. Waiting for the call from my AD. Question is date or no date on a Sub? After watching & hearing your content would settle if no call though.

    • @vineyardtime5545
      @vineyardtime5545  3 роки тому

Thanks so much! Personally I prefer the date on the Sub, but the symmetry of the no date is very nice as well. The Tudor is great and if you get one and then receive a call from your AD you could likely trade it in. Though truthfully after having both you may prefer to keep both as they fill slightly different voids in ones collection. Good luck in your search! Keep me posted.

Good video , very well done . I agree Tudor is very good value for money compared to Rolex . I have the new sub and datejustjust 41 as well as tudor GMT . And no way is the tudor worth less than half the sub . Having said that if I could only have blackbay or the sub . Then for me its definitely the sub

Thanks so much! Definitely a nice group of watches! I agree there is something special about a classic Sub. Ideally I agree with your logic of having both as I think they fill slightly different spots in ones collection. Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing!

Tudor is not what it was...
So high quality now with in house caliber and their own identity,
I got so many Rolex but now do prefer Tudor. In fact what happen to Rolex now make me feel to be stupid guy to buy one....absolutely no respect for customer in my view.
